The service was incredible and everyone was so welcoming and the food and drinks were amazing. We were visiting from out of town and heard about this place so we decided to give it a try. The yellow tail, spider roll, and beef was definitely our favorite! Definitely a must visit here.

Based on the reviews this place seems to be hit or miss. Our regular Chinese restaurant is closed on Mondays so we decided to give Sei Bar a try ( we love the Everett location but it's too far for takeout). Portions are smaller than other places, but the food we got more than made up for it. Everything was fresh and tasted good. The pork fried rice really highlighted the pride and effort they take in their food, it was loaded with additional veggies. Chicken wings were a good size, well seasoned and well fried. The boneless ribs were tasty but too fatty for me, definitely need to trim off more of the fat but others may like that. Overall a decent option with good food and fast service. 3 stars instead of 4 because it's on the pricier side for takeout.

Picked up from this place for dinner and it was alright. We also drive by this place every week but never really noticed it until today and decided to give it a try since we're in a sushi mood. We got sushi duh and they're ok, no complaints except for the spicy scallop makis (they tasted a lil odd). We gave this place a 4/5 because 1. their spicy chicken wings aint spicy, it's saucey and sweet and we didn't know how to feel. 2. the spicy avocado salad which I was excited for, had more cucumbers than anything else (I was craving imitation crabmeat:( ) and yea it's a place that doesn't really focus on serving sushi & just Japanese cuisine. They also offer Chinese and Thai and Pan Asian dishes so next time, when we're in the mood for solidly sushi, we'd try another place.

Gyoza. They were so bad. Tasted like the ones from supermarket. Barely had any meat.

I understand inflation, but businesses are not the only ones hurting. People also work hard for their money and so the expectations are still high. If you go up on prices but still deliver great quality food, I'm okay with paying the extra bucks. But come on! I am disappointed at the food quality that Seibar is providing. Their prices are up and their Ingredients are less. A huge disappointment. I spend about $25.00 on a Medford roll and gyoza. The roll was skimpy and full of tempura crumbs just a few strings of crab meat. The gyoza was the same quality as a super market. I should have learned from the last time I ordered, but I had faith today the food was going to be excellent like it used to be.

Over the years we have ordered from Sei Bar Medford less and less frequently. In general the sushi and the cold sesame noodles were the only consistently good food. Last Sunday night, in an effort to support local business, we ordered some sushi, some cold sesame noodles, and some chicken broccoli for the kiddo. The food was less than mediocre. Sushi wasn't fresh and was seemingly hacked apart w a butter knife. But the kicker came when we found a cockroach in my daughters bowl of chicken broccoli. A COCKROACH. I called and they said they would refund, but then they didn't and I had to have GrubHub get in touch with them to process the refund. Wouldn't have ordered again based just on the food, but with the roach I feel (sadly) compelled to write a review.

Decided to give this local place a try during covid since it had a 4.8/5 on doordash. Have tried numerous sushi spots in the area and every single one is better than this. Absolute bottom barrel expired garbage. Would be shocked if I don't get sick from eating it. Sushi is not fresh, presentation is appalling. $50 for 3 disgusting rolls(Idaho, Medford, crazy) and microwaved vegetable rolls. Plastic bag soy sauce and rotting ginger provided complimentary.

Tried it for Uber Eats tonight and I don't think it was all the restaurants fault - my order was very delayed so my crab Rangoon was cold. I imagine it'd be great warm. Unfortunately I'm most upset that a "roll" of sushi is 4 pieces!! 4!!! That is not acceptable. I asked to add cream cheese, they did not. Avocado was brown, the whole thing wasn't good.

    Metal in my food.

The Medford/Boston area seemed to all have limited parking so we were looking for a dinner option that didn't require us to drive since we were sick of circling around. Matsuba Izakaya was just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel so we we braved the cold for some delicious food. When we arrived at the restaurant we were escorted toward the back of the restaurant which was very warm and inviting. I ordered the mini omakase for $55 and was super impressed with the presentation and variety of seafood. I was presented a box of 9 different seafood offerings: uni, toro, salmon belly, fish liver, raw shrimp & fried shrimp head tempura, scallops. yellowtail, and squid. The uni and toro were fantastic, and I enjoyed everything else except for the salmon belly. For some reason the salmon belly wasn't ultra creamy - maybe it wasn't thawed enough, which is a shame because I love salmon sashimi. Nevertheless, for the presentation and price I was really impressed with the variety. It also came with a miso soup which really warmed me up quickly.

We got shrimp skewers, grilled steak, and spicy salmon salad as apps. All 3 were solid and I really liked the sauce they used for the steak and shrimp. The salmon salad was okay, I wouldn't get again. The mayo or whatever the cream based thing was got sickening towards the end. For fish, we got literally almost everything on the sashimi menu. We wanted to try it all lol. The chunks were actually huge and also I think they gave us more salmon than we asked for. I really liked all the fish but my favs were the white tuna, tuna, and the mackerel surprisingly. For the nigiri, the squid was pretty good and tasted fresh. The eel had a weird watery aftertaste so wasn't my fav. The two roes were good but I prefer the flying fish over the salmon. The green tea Icecream was really good but the vanilla was like mid. We went around 6 pm on a Sunday and there was no line. Also it took them about 10 minutes to bring out everything since submitting our papers to order which was surprisingly fast! It comes with 2 bowls of miso soup, which were perfect on a cold winter night. The boat also includes a martini glass with seaweed salad, providing a refreshing, upscale palate cleanser when you need a moment's break from the fish. I was very impressed with the thick cuts for the sashimi, and the toppings on the nigiri also gave a tiny twist to the meal - while yuzu and jalapaeño are common pairings with raw fish, for example, the strawberry-on-salmon was a novel combo for me! The rolls also add appeal for any eating partners who enjoy their fish in another form. There isn't a lot of natural light/windows in the main seating area, so the lighting is dim and gives off an intimate ambiance that's perfect for a date night - no complaints about the service!

I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken hibachi! It's good for being hungry because it comes with soup, veggies, rice, and some shrimp. It comes with yum yum sauce which goes well with everything and a sauce for the vegetables. The service was good, we did ask our questions about appetizers and she gave good recommendations. The layout of the restaurant is similar to the Brookline location, with the private booths on the right and special booths on the left, main seating area in the middle, and the bar seating towards the back. Only difference is the Brookline location has those cool matcha whisk structures, while this location has cool honeycomb structures. I would've loved to experience sitting in one of those. I always like to eat spicy so of course I got the Kyushu Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. As always, broth is so flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. The ramen texture is my favorite, good amount of softness and waviness. The boiled egg is marinated just right, not too salty or sweet. The chashu pork is tender. I wanted to try their version of the spicy cucumbers. It's REALLY spicy. But also very good. The flavor reminds me of the Chinese chili oil sweet potato noodles, very spicy, kind of salty, and a strong taste of vinegar. I love snacking on it. The takoyaki is the best of course, perfectly soft and tender, with thin bonito shavings and great sauce. The fries are essentially seasoned the same way. Salted fries with the takoyaki sauces and bonito. The combo works very well together. Thai tea was good and service was great. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll stop by for another bowl.

What I can remember is that all the food had great visual appeal. Additionally, the flavors from the main ingredient, sauce, and condiments were artfully balanced. Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): Great service even if there was only 1-2 waiters. Wait-time is decent. Cleanliness is impeccable. One minor negative is the positioning of some of the table that sees the fan above them--the fan sits just below the light bulb and creates a "strobe-light" effect at night. This was incredibly disturbing for me and I had to face diagonally downwards most of the time to avoid the flickering at the top-corner of my eyes.
