I accidentally came a crossed this place and LOVED IT. I was looking for a poke bowl spot and saw the one across the street was closed! Thankfully I came in and saw this place also sells poke bowls! We ordered two poke bowls and you can sub your toppings if you want other ones. I got the Super Bowl and it was more than enough as I had leftovers. The volcano roll was decent. The crab ragoon was pretty good. The customer service and quickness of the service was AMAZING! It's a small place def a grab and go spot but we did sit and eat here. They were take out busy but super efficient with everything. The place felt clean. The parking is small in the front but there are other shared parking spaces as it's next to Shaws grocery store. For two bowls, two appetizers, two drinks it was about $65.00. I think it's good for fresh sushi grade fish and quick service. read more

This business i family owned which adds a lot of warmth. The fish was extremely fresh and soft! I am from Brooklyn and this fish is wayyyy better than there! The family is EXTREMELY SWEET, generous and friendly and always made sure we were satisfied with their service. They were kind enough to let me use their bathroom behind the counter as well! Maybe had an off night, first time trying Sushi Corner in Melrose. They had decent reviews so had to try it out. Got a basic, Shrimp Tempura roll and it was bleh. From the color to the taste, I had two pieces and had to throw the rest away. That was unfortunate. I will say that the workers were so kind and friendly! One of my favorite local sushi spots every time I enter I'm welcomed with a big smile from the friendliest staff,. I watched them make the freshest and most delicious sushi. Their menu is big from the basics to unique items like sushi burritos all of it is absolutely delicious. Although the restaurant itself is tiny and does not have a whole lot of seating. It's a perfect place to take sushi home from. Can't recommend checking this local gem out. You can thank me later! read more

This is my favorite local low cost sushi place for takeout. It is not even close to the same quality as my favorite sushi restaurants in Somerville/Brookline/Newton, but when I am looking for a quick sushi fix without breaking the bank or driving for 30+ mins each way, this is my go-to. Food is ready quickly, Jacky (owner / sushi chef) is pleasant, and you get a lot of food for the price. If you order online, you are charged a $1 fee which can be avoided by placing your order over the phone. They also have sushi burritos and bowls, which are filling and reasonably priced. Don't come here expecting top quality sushi, but if you want something that hits the spot, is reasonably priced and is ready rapidly, this is a good place to visit. I've been coming here for 7+ years and the food has remained consistent every single time I've gone. Always the freshest sushi, generous portions and prices have remained fair even after all of this time. Jackie (The Owner) is one of the nicest, if not the nicest person you'll ever meet and though their menu covers pretty much everything, if there's something you want that's possibly not on the menu he'll give it to you. He is a man of the people. My wife and I have eaten at some relatively high end restaurants and even still this little hole in the wall is hands down the best sushi money can buy. 10/10 read more

This place has a lot of what I look for in a local sushi spot. Hole in the wall, family operated business, clean but not frilly. The menu has everything you'd expect and want but the prices are on the affordable side of the scale. I love to get sushi to go, so I don't want to be paying for the atmosphere of the restaurant where I'm ordering from. Had the chance to finally visit this hole in the wall sushi restaurant that I've been reading so much about! First off, ambience is pretty nice and relaxed (I actually wasn't expecting this based off its location which is practically in a Shaw's parking lot). We were greeted right away; the host was polite, kind and very good to us. Sushi was huge in portions and very affordable. We ordered a volcano roll, spicy salmon maki, alligator and white dragon. The rolls came with miso soup, which tasted standard. The fish in the rolls was very fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! My favorite was the spicy salmon maki (huge chunks of very fresh tasting salmon, crunchy cucumber and just enough avocado) while my boyfriend's favorite was the alligator roll. Please do use the website listed on yelp, so long as it is: sushicornermelrose.com I say this because I just spent a while trying to find their actual site. Each time clicking on a menu (or all the way down to a menu item, in one case) lead to another website - beyondmenu, grubhub, restaurantij, you name it - I closed it. Then there were none left. My wife called and was assured (greatfully, apparently) that the website is indeed sushicornermelrose.com ....even though it does take you to something on "mealkeyway.com" I say all this because I do not wish to piss off the undead by calling the sites that pretended to be Sushi Corner "vampires" or "leaches" or "dung beatles" or "a..." nevermind. read more

Best new hole in the wall sushi place I've been to recently. Although this place has been around for a while, apparently it's gone under new ownership. The portions are quite fair for the price, it's pretty clean and the food itself is amazing. Great quality and flavor, the owner is also the sushi chef who really cares about how people like the food. I also like that it's very close by (only a 15 min drive) and quickly has supplanted my old favorite, super fusion, in Brookline. Recommendations: high protein seafood roll (salmon, tuna, yellowtail and avocado on top with bake scallop and cucumber inside, topped with tobiko) is amazing. It's packed with fresh cut fish (BELLY CUTS!!!) and it's only $12?!! What a deal. Also I love the double spicy tuna roll (but I modify it to be a double spicy salmon roll since I love salmon a lot more), but this is packed with salmon, spicy mayo and avocado on top with spicy salmon and avocado inside. Rich and creamy, it'll fill you up pretty quick. When I went with my wife (who is pregnant) the owner made sure that nothing raw touched her rolls when preparing. He even went to extremes by creating an entirely new avocado salad for us by essentially serving it deconstructed so that nothing raw would affect it. Super friendly and always going the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your food, this place really does surpass all expectations. Luckily we find the time to visit when it's not super busy for them so it's like our own personal place. However I want others to know how amazing this place is. It gets 5 stars because it's consistent with everything: quality, portion, price, customer service and consistency in the aforementioned qualities. Also they serve bomb sushi burritos and poke bowls. I'm glad I found this place on a whim (had visited the nearby Stone zoo and was looking for a nice lunch spot). Now I can't stop coming back! Highly recommended. read more

Some friends and I were in town for a quick trip and found Sushi Corner on Yelp near the place we were staying. We placed a phone order to go and it was ready within the 30 minutes we were told. The place is very small and behind other buildings so not easily found from the street; TIP: look for the driveway right before/next to Shaw's or turn down Foster and then your first right into the driveway and straight ahead. The California roll and the tuna sushi burrito got high reviews from our group and we enjoyed the ramen and udon soups although they were fairly light on ingredients when compared to some other places. Just broth, noodles, a couple pieces of meat and some greens - maybe less is more, maybe not, but the broth was at least very tasty - both the soy and the miso were equally good. The staff were friendly and I sort of wished we would have eaten in just to give them some company. read more

If you are not specifically looking for this place, you wouldn't find it. Actually, even if you are specifically looking for it, like I was, it's still hard to find. I had to circle around several times before spotting it tucked behind the other businesses on Main Street. Opening the door, I was surprised at just how small this place really was. There were a total of 4 tables and a small sushi bar. I think that's why most people stick to take out. The sushi menu was pretty extensive with several special rolls and offerings at pretty reasonable prices compared to other places. The fish, what we got of it, seemed fresh, but my biggest qualm with the place was that the maki seemed to consist of mostly rice and very little fish. If I'm paying for sushi, I want to taste the fish dammit. Maybe we should have gotten the nigiri or sashimi instead, but now I'm a little skeptical. We rented a house within walking distance of here and had 8 people. It looked too small to fit us all in, so one night we ordered takeout. We ordered a ton of food and specifically asked for them to label the sushi rolls as we were ordering 14. The person on the phobe even explained that he could write the names of the rolls on the take out containers. We were told 30 minutes, but it turned out to be 50. When we got all the food home there were no labels on the rolls and only 13 of 14. The fried rice and Tempura dish we added were cold and my in-laws had to heat them up. The sushi was hard to determine what was what. In fairness, everything tasted just fine, but it was a complete mess for 20 minutes at home figuring out who's food was what and then reheating some of it. So impressed with this place! Wanted to try something new and heard great things about Sushi Corner. They definitely met our expectations. Very fresh ingredients and the flavors were delicious! Tried the Sushi Burrito and the packaging it came in was adorable. The Pan-fried Gyoza and Crab Rangoon were also really good. This is my favourite sushi restaurant in town! If you're going to splurge, this is the place to do it. The service is prompt and I think they hired a new waiter girl who's super cute. She was able to give us some great guidance and was especially helpful for pairing gyoza with our sushi. Every good thing you've heard is 100% true and then some! Obviously the raw fish is the main event, and every time I go it's top notch freshness and perfectly delicious. Don't skip on their salad! The house made salad is out-of-the-world good! read more

You've probably walked past this place a billion times but never even noticed it existed. 2. Cheap! Enough sushi for two, plus soup and green tea cost $25.50 TOTAL (including tax.) 3. Melts in your mouth, not on your chopsticks. This is NOT one of those stiff-globs-of-crap sushi places have where you have to gag it down.
