Spicy tuna hand rolls

I am so happy I decided to go to Fumi. Street parking was easy, even with the mounds of snow. The spicy tuna hand rolls were packed with tuna and other goodness. Worth a return trip to explore the menu. Thanks for the spring roll, it was yummy.

L5. Hibachi Chicken Bento Lunch

What a great first experience I had at Fumi! I am so glad to have them to the community of Melrose. I called to have take out and the lady on the phone was kind and the wait was short (Friday/ lunch). There is plenty of street parking, came in and was greeted. Paid for my meal and waited a bit to get it (less than 5 minutes). It was very cute in there, more of a take out restaurant but did have a table there if you wanted to eat in. You can tell how hard working the owners and workers were; very friendly, taking lots of phone orders and buzzing around. I got my food and was sent out with a cup of ice-cream as a sorry for a 3 min wait! Did not have to do that but really really sweet (and delicious). I got home and was in awe about how much delicious food was in the bento box, all for $15. Incredible deal. I had the chicken hibachi and it was a great size and cooked perfectly! So excited to have a new go to restaurant in town.

Review for take out as the restaurant has one table. Fumi was opened three days ago, replacing Number One Taste. The service was quick, two rolls for $11.95 plus tax and bonus for side of salad and small miso soup. Conveniently located near Melrose Highlands commuter rail stop and 131 bus stop. Street parking is plentiful or you can park near the commuter rail stop. Walking is within 2 mins. The restaurant is clean and staff is super polite. I preferred more vinegar on sushi rice but overall, the rolls were neatly rolled and salmon tasted fresh. You can pay more to substitute with brown rice and even black rice, wow! I would go back.

Hey it's the $2.99 Trader Joe's microwave fried rice? This was awful

MOJO Sushi Omakase

Been in search for a great sushi spot in the north shore and finally found one. Alan is really…read morepassionate and took great pride and care in the quality of the fish he served. We did the omakase, which is best to make reservations so he can prepare. The omakase is served one piece at a time with time slots of 1:30.330 and 830. It's $110 per person and it's 15 courses. Our favorites were the Spanish mackerel, and the giant eye red snapper. Everything else was really good, but those two stood out as our favorites. You can also order the omakase à la carte, but best to give it some time to prepare because each piece is intricate. We look forward to trying if everything on the menu!

The Uni, Eel Unagi, & Scallop Hotate were my favorites. The taste reminded me of something that I would get in Japan. The Green Tea Cheesecake was delicious. The Green Tea Tiramisu was still frozen. It was better after a few minutes. Overall, it would come back if it was closer. The pricing was reasonable for the quality of sushi that you get. Service was decent.

Weekday lunch visit to dip my toe in the water after some recent dreadful dinners here. I love…read moreKowloon when they're at their best, but too often they're mailing it in with reheats from the night before (recent spareribs) or long-held items (recent rice, egg rolls) that have become soggy and/or cold. -- Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a combo): Better than it's been. Good portion, fingers crispy, not fresh fresh, but semi-fresh with good chicken-to-batter ratio. Sweet and sour sauce served on the side was excellent: nice and sweet, with plenty of tang too, and even though sticky, not the dreaded gloppy fire engine red version served elsewhere. Overall, well above average. If hotter and fresher, elite. -- Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): Composition: excellent. Color: excellent. Flavor: excellent. Warmth and freshness: lacking in both. Obviously prepared a good while before I ordered it and sitting in a bin to be taken as needed, not cooked to order. -- Egg Roll (add-on to the combo): Good fillings but gummy shell. No crispness. Not much warmth. I keep asking for fresh and they promise fresh, but they lie. Decent flavor, and some shrimp were involved, so at least average. But when Kowloon decides to put the effort in or when timing is on your side, these are among the best in the business. But on this day-- because they didn't and it wasn't-- merely average. -- Spare Ribs (add-on to the combo): These were somewhat warm, somewhat meaty, and more than somewhat flavorful. A little above average. Everything came much quicker to the table than cooking from scratch would allow, so the precooked concept is still in play. Still a decent lunch, and with a great visual backdrop, but it could be so much better. And at their prices, it SHOULD be better.

I haven't eaten there in years . Since supposed to be closing and I heard people talk about the…read moreegg rolls. I wanted an egg roll. I visited while in Cambridge for errand. First impressions was ... wow a large place and crowded on a Sunday for lunchtime. I figured this must be good food... big wrong . I was surprised and not wowed when viewing the lunch special menu... high prices for entree , then add more money to add on an appetizer side , to add on to add an egg roll... vs.. all together as a lunch combo ? 7.25 for a single egg roll ... this was clearly a price gouging. Then an appetizer of bone in ribs was 24.95. Placed order and food arrived in minutes... so all the food was re heated. I was very disappointed, cold rice, egg roll cold and looked not home made or if it was ... reheated , cold. Ingredients in egg roll were just ok... certainly not worth 7.25. The bone in ribs was a total rape job. I should have sent back as reheated to point of cremation... top two ribs were cold and edible, the kitchen was shrewd and deceptive as put or hid the dog bone quality cremated ribs on the bottom of pile... I would have sent back had I did a forensic analysis of the ribs on bottom of pile... 24.95 paid for those still bothers me days later writing this review. I feel violated. I paid cash or had I used AMEX, I would have submitted a dispute of charge for the credit card expense . Place way over rated and serving that quality is an embarrassment. Someone had warned me that they reheat the food most of time, but when cooked fresh then it is edible. I will never return as owner must be mailing it in til they bulldoze the place soon for the new apartment buildings or development planned... Better quality Chinese elsewhere in Cambridge... I feel ripped off bad. I'll stay away... maybe only the bar patrons get the reheated cold food as the restaurant was crowded? Maybe nothing or better options in Saugus than this Burger King of Chinese food type food served in massive size Burger King atmosphere, however with San Francisco prices. Holy Prices here Batman !
