There are not many restaurants open late in the north shore. Luckily dumpling garden has your back!! My girlfriend and I discovered this spot when we had no clue what we wanted to eat past 9pm. We saw a ton of good reviews and decided to give it a try! Dumpling garden is your typical Chinese takeout restaurant with more! They have several types of dumplings, appetizers and even sushi! We got the juicy pork dumplings and they were amazing!! I also love that you can order online. They tell you how long it'll take for your order to be ready so you can arrive at the right time! Inside they have some tables (not many though) so if you wanted to sit down and eat with some friends, you can! I can't recommend this place enough. Upon entering the establishment, my husband and I noticed that on a table to the left there was a giant container of crab Rangoon filling and another with the wrappers for them. We ordered our meal and waited for about 30 minutes. The entire time we were there that container of cream cheese and seafood filling sat out for everyone to see with not even a plastic wrap to keep it from dust, possible pests, bacteria, etc... Danvers has LOTS of options for great takeout, but Dumpling Garden is a standout among them. Their menu is extensive with options ranging from dumplings to stir-fries to sushi (there really is something for everyone). Of course, we have tried it all, and can confidently say that it is ALL excellent! Their service is very friendly and I am always impressed with how quickly they complete orders. Plenty of parking in their lot, and even a few tables inside if you'd prefer to eat there (and it is nice and cozy and clean inside!). Small strip mall location, six tables, surprisingly deep menu, but when the word dumpling is in the name, you go with dumplings. Very casual, to the point where most of it is served on paper plates. Not a problem; the food is very good. B1 Cold Cucumber Salad: Thick(ish) half discs, with soy sauce, with hints of vinegar and sugar, topped with crushed garlic. Simple and refreshing, with no single flavor dominating. D1 Soup Dumplings: Hot, heavy, juicy, soupy, with good pork flavor. Solid if not downright tomatoes, a lot of tomato, cucumber, cucumber it's a tomato for you. excellent. D3 Mini Juice Bun w/Pork & Shrimp: Perfect texture, perfect heat (caution: filling is hot), perfect tenderness of the meat inside, along with a good slurp of the soupy juiciness. Nice to taste strong shrimp presence along with the pork. D4 Shanghai Style Pan-Fried Pork Bun: Big and pillowy, but in a Peking ravioli density, not bao bun density/texture, so for me that's a plus. Delicious filling, basically crumbled sausage with seasonings the mix. This is a must-order item every time for me. D17 Cantonese Shumai: Light wrappers, abundant filling, gentle texture, tasty shrimp flavor. Excellent. D9 Steamed Shrimp Dumplings: Crescent shaped and somewhat see-through. Standard but good. Or good but standard. No issues! D6 Steamed Taro Bun: Big, purple, dense, and spongy, with a taro jelly filling resembling poi. I didn't like it, but your mileage may vary. D10 Steamed Vegetables Dumplings: Not just for vegetarians, this one is a flavor punch too. Lots of finely chopped stuff on the inside. Herbal. A2 Boneless Spareribs: Average at best. It's not really the kind of place this is, but I felt like giving it a curiosity shot. Light on char, light on glaze (though there was a clear liquid in there along with the red), and light on flavor. No deductions, because it's not their thing. But would have been a helluva bonus. Have not tried in house, but delivery a few times over the last few months has been pretty darn good. From nice options on apps, like three sizes for pu pu platers, to the juicy mini dumplings to the perfectly fried pork rice, everything has been a winner! I havent had the sushi but the dumplings and Chinese/polynesian apps are our go-to in the area. I've never dined inside (it's very small) but takeout and delivery is great. Delivery always much, much quicker than estimated. The egg roll is the closest thing I've ever had to a Kowloon egg roll, if that's the sort of thing you're into. I have been looking for good Chinese food in the whole Boston area and came on Dumpling Garden when I was in Danvers. The dumplings are authentic and the best I've tasted and found so far. The chow fun and pineapple fried rice are also the best flavors and taste. The restaurant is made more for take out, but the few tables are enough with no wait at opening. Parking is easy in the large private parking lot for the few businesses in this strip. read more

I order ALL the time from DG, but I got the chance to go for lunch on 10/22. I took myself out and had the salmon maki, tuna maki, and soup dumplings. They can never fail to impress me! This was my favorite go to for authentic Chinese closest to my home in Gloucester. I would take the extra drive to get it here instead of my local places in my town. However I was disappointed with the food I ordered yesterday, it seems they have different cooks and I was there around mid afternoon for takeout and the food was off. I ordered beef chow fun which was very bland and extra spicy Kung pow chicken was mediocre and not flavorful. I still think the dumpling on Rt1 is much better but didn't want to add the additional time... I will try again as this may be a fluke as I was always happy with my food from here. I also learned not to order pan fried option for dumplings, much better steamed as it seems they just steam it then fry it as afterthought and they charge extra for this, disappointed. read more

Got some takeout from here after going way too long without dumplings. Boy did they deliver! I ordered 4 orders of dumplings and they were all ready in 20 minutes. After a 20 minutes car ride they still were nice and warm. Super easy to pickup and delicious as always! My favorite is still the D4 shanghai pork buns. So flavorful and the bao has the perfect texture! The pork and leak dumplings might be my second though! All the dumplings had great portion sizes and this amount was a lot for girlfriend and myself. We were visiting Salem in October and needed to get out of the crowds to find something to eat. I searched for Japanese food nearby on Yelp and Dumpling Garden came up. It's located in a strip mall with ample parking. I must admit when I walked up and looked through the windows, I was skeptical. There wasn't a lot of seating and the table to the left was being taken up by a couple of employees prepping vegetables. I felt it was odd that they weren't doing that work out back. The customers who had food in front of them were served with paper plates. I'm not sure if their dishwasher is broken or if this is how they always do things. With some hesitation, our super hungry bellies told us to proceed. The waitress was soft spoken and sweet. We ordered steamed chicken dumplings, sweet potato maki, shrimp tempura maki, veggie pad thai and chicken fried rice. The make rolls came in sets of 8, which was nice because they were rolled a little smaller. You could actually put the whole thing in your mouth, without feeling like you were going to choke. The pad thai was actually one of the best renditions I've had. I can't speak to whether the dumplings were better than other places because I don't usually order those. We had a delicious lunch and would eat here again. The moral of this story is not to judge a restaurant by its plates. LOL read more

We ordered the Szechuan Style Wonton w/Peanut Sauce (which were otherworldly) Sautéed String Beans, and Shanghai Style Pan-Fried Pork Buns (which were also great but we were already too full to finish them by the time they came out.) all the food was piping hot. Fast friendly service. However if you're looking for ambience, this is not the place: everything is served on paper plates (including the dishes themselves), the place looks and feels like a take-out joint, and the seats are not comfortable. I went to the Dumpling Garden today because I had read good reviews about it and wanted to see if it lived up to them. IT DID NOT. Of the things I ordered, the only thing that was decent was the Tempura Shrimp maki roll. It wasn't badly done and priced attractively. (Not pictured) I also ordered the Hot and Sour soup. It was mediocre at best. The flavor was one-note: pepper. Not beef, which is supposed to be the underlying flavor. Also, there were no Cloud's Ear mushrooms in it, nor diced pork, or dried lily flowers which is how it's usually made. If you're an aficionado of Hot & Sour soup, give this one a pass. You'll be as disappointed as I was. For the main plate, I ordered Mongolian Beef. More than half the dish was green & red peppers.... And ratty looking pieces of yellow onion. The cut of beef that they used was either pot roast or tri-tip. In other words.... Really god damn cheap meat. I know, because I've spent a fair bit of time in China and I know all of the tricks. Also... the flavor was salty and lame. It was mostly thickened soy sauce with just a little bit of oyster sauce. There was no spice to it and it really wasn't worth eating, but I was hungry, so I picked out the beef and ate that. Now..... let's talk about how cheap these people are. First, everything is served on paper plates. I assume this is done to cut down on staff costs. They bring a pitcher of water to your table and expect you to serve yourself.... Into a cheap plastic cup. Second, they don't even make their own lemonade. What they served me was cheap, awful-tasting crap that we used to call bug juice. Think of cool aid but much more chemical tasting. Let's also talk about service. The young man who served me today was polite enough, but he didn't listen to my request for more pickled ginger and basically came to my table only twice. For this, they wanted an 18% gratuity. My reaction to that was predictable. I left 5% and the bill still came to $43.60. DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

I love soup dumplings! And Dumpling Garden doesn't disappoint. They have a plentiful menu and everything is freshly made. We ordered pork soup dumplings with pork fried buns and string beans with beef. This is my second time here and last time I ordered Sushi. I felt so full eating with my family. But no leftovers because we ate everything up! Now keep in mind this place is in a strip mall and you could drive right past it if you aren't careful. But I will come here often when I am in the mood for a sushi roll or soup dumpling. Their noodles are good too. Next time I will take more pics. The food is so fresh! read more

I was inDanvers at lunch time and jumped on the Yelp App and found this place. I love dumplings and this place delivered. Its a small place, with only 5-7 tables. Mostly takeout. THe service was excellent however. They had paper plates on the tables which was odd. Real utensils and chop sticks. I had the soup dumplings as well as the pork and cabbage dumplings, and cucumber salad. The food came out in abt 15 minutes and the server brought a caraf water and 2 sauces (dumpling sauce and black Chinese vinagar). Everthing was really good. I thought the soup dumplings were a bit understuffed and the pork ones a bit too thick. I wanted the cucumber salad to be a bit spicy so I should of asked for some hot chili oil. I would return again to try more menu items. read more

Delicious Chinese and Japanese food with many dumpling options! The menu is extensive and the prices are reasonable. It's a casual and humble restaurant that serves majority of the food on paper plates but they do not compromise on quality. It feels like homemade food prepared by an Asian grandma. The restaurant is decorated with lights and it's somewhat kitschy but I love it. Looking forward to returning! So incredible! When they first opened we tried them and thought...meh... but we tried them again and it was phenomenal and continues to be! The food is cooked perfectly and if you need it, cooked to order. The vegetables are fresh and meats are juicy and delicious. They don't oversalt the food and their selection is endless with specialties that you don't see on other menus with the true authentic recipes. Like our friends, we see things on the menu that we have never tried and say we have to try that sometime. So... we decided to try something new and they never disappoint. The service is great and delivery is mostly quick (depending when you order) and pricing is fair for the amount of food you get. I don't say this lightly, if you patronize Dumpling Garden, you are at a Top 5 Chinese place outside of Boston, if not the BEST overall. Stay away from typical Americanized Chinese and go for what's in their name, duh.....dumplings! It's slightly larger than a "hole in the wall". Since the pandemic and discovering this place when we are in the area, it has obviously been takeout only so I can't comment on what it's like to dine in. It looks like there are only a handful of tables when it is available, so when things are back to normal don't look into booking a huge party here or anything. The takeout staff is overly pleasant and go out of there way to make sure you are happy with your order before you even walk out the door. So what to get? Soup dumplings oozing with decadent broth, pork with crabmeat are definitely one of my go-tos. We also love the beef and steamed cabbage ones, you really can't go wrong with many of the flavors. The vinegary dipping sauce that comes with many of them is also a perfect compliment to balance out the savoriness of the flavors within each one. It's a nice bonus to get free crab rangoons when paying cash for orders over $40. If there was any issue, the prices are a inkling too steep for what you get but it's easily made up with the quality. Apparently they have a connection to one of the best Chinatown-Boston dumpling locations and it easily shows. How we are so blessed with this amazing place outside of an urban area and placed into a side strip mall is beyond me.
