    115. Beef Lo Mein
    Gloria L.

This is my review solely based on the food. It's your stereotypical American Chinese food. Personally I didn't like my food, the General Gao's chicken was mostly breading. The lo mein also had a weird flavor to me, it was just me though, others found it fine. I don't think the rating is off based on the food itself, I don't think there's any deduction for service. If you're looking for cheap Chinese and you're not too picky, I think this is a good place to check out.

    Pad Thai

I ordered the chicken and shrimp pad Thai, and it was hands down the worst pad Thai I've ever had. There was no sauce on the noodles at all--just plain noodles, and at the bottom of the container was literal water. The chicken and shrimp were completely flavorless, as if they weren't seasoned or cooked with anything. It tasted like boiled noodles with protein tossed in at the end. I actually brought it back to the counter, which I never do. The host asked if I'd ever had pad Thai before, and I told them yes--plenty of times--but this was by far the worst. I also never leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I felt I had to.

Gourmet Garden is a frequent choice for us for Saturday lunch... their wonton soup is excellent, different and better than their location in Beverly. I usually get salmon sashimi and it's always been very fresh and flavorful. Nice selection d sushi rolls as well and great Chinese food choices...

I have never been to this place before. Always willing to try somewhere new. I still have yet to find really yummy Chinese food. I love sushi and will try just about anything. The spicy Salmon Naruto was fresh and tasty, and the sunset blvd sushi was also refreshing it did not need soy sauce. The lobster sauce threw me for a loop with peas and carrots, I've never had it like that before. I wouldn't get it again, to say the least. The Rangoon, those tasted like they were cooked then frozen and re heated, they were not hot at all and rather rubbery. The Spare ribs in the appetizer plate were the best part of it. The scorpion bowl, nothing special, it was a pretty standard scorpion bowl. Last but not least the highlight of the entire meal was the hot and sour soup, I can say that is probably one of the best ones I have had. I'd go back for that.

I love the food and the space. However, one of the workers didn't wash their hands after they used the bathroom! Disgusting!

The dining room has a nice vibe -- modern, clean, and comfortable. It feels like a good spot for a casual date or catching up with friends. That said, the noise level builds quickly. Everyone was chatting, and you could easily overhear conversations without even trying. Service was genuinely great. Our server checked in consistently for water refills, cleared plates quickly, and asked if we needed anything -- but never felt overbearing. That balance is appreciated and made the experience smoother. One thing worth noting: some menu prices are higher than you might expect, especially since Google lists the average around $20-$30 per person. For some of the higher-priced items, photos on the menu would really help set expectations. The portions do help justify the entrée pricing somewhat, but the overall bill -- $110 for a late lunch for two -- was honestly higher than expected. We started with the spicy edamame. To make it spicy was a $2 upcharge, which felt unnecessary -- most places offer regular, sea salt, or spicy at the base price. That rubbed me the wrong way. For sushi, we ordered two pieces of unagi and two pieces of wagyu. The fish/meat to rice ratio was generous (see picture). The unagi sushi is something a sushi chef can't really mess up -- solid and as expected. The wagyu sushi, however, had a very intense char on top and was extremely fatty. Depending on your preference, that could be a plus or a bit overpowering. The spicy beef rice bowl was a very large portion -- honestly enough to split between two people. The onions had a nice crunch and weren't soggy, which I appreciated. The beef is shaved rather than sliced, and you can't choose how it's cooked. The spice level was faint, should have spice level indicators on items like this. I did feel like the dish was missing another vegetable element that could have elevated it. The chicken curry bento box came with a lot: two tempura shrimp, two deep-fried pork gyoza, one sweet potato tempura, sticky rice, and the curry chicken. The chicken was very tender. The curry had that strong, classic curry aroma and was well balanced in flavor. Nothing to rave about. Both meals came with miso soup and salad. The salad dressing wasn't for me; I prefer something tangy, and this one tasted more like pan juices from cooked meat. For dessert, we tried the vanilla crepe cake. It honestly tasted like tiramisu. If they offered a matcha version, that might have set it apart more. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, I'm glad we tried it and had the experience. The service and portion sizes stood out positively. However, for the price point, it's not a "must-return" spot for me, and not somewhere I'd immediately recommend off the top of my head when people ask.

Staff were nice and I noticed that all the waitstaff worked together with different people checking in on us and delivering/clearing dishes. Started with fried shumai which was usual as it's most likely frozen and fried-nothing crazy. What we were most excited for was their sushi. The fish was insanely fresh that you could taste the difference. The rice bowl came with miso soup and the portion was large enough to easily feed two people. Glad we made the visit after hearing from several people how good their food is. We will be coming back!

Parking was a breeze as a huge parking lot is right outside the front door. The atmosphere is light, upbeat modern Asian. The staff is friendly and attentive without being bothersome. The restaurant itself is small to medium with a very healthy turnover. The luncheon specials are very affordably priced and come with a choice of soup and appetizer. I opted for the sweet and sour soup which was remarkably great. All the ingredients were fresh and the soup was perfectly balanced. There were a couple of extra ingredients in there or it was cooked just right - either way IC took an average dish an made it awesome. I opted for the chicken fingers and they were outstanding. No hint of fry oil or grease and I could taste the chicken. The cream de la cream was the eggplant. It was PERFECT in every way and there was plenty of it. The noodles were very underwhelming, the flavor was mediocre at best, and the shrimp were the size of my thumbnail. There were peanuts and one tiny, very overcooked piece of green onion.
