The classic mai tai is very good
    Michael R.

We've dined here for years, but something terrible has happened to Oye. We usually like to dine here before seeing a show at Imax theater, just a few steps away. In the past the sushi, chinese food and drinks were good. Not on our last visit. It seems there is no oversight or concerned management here anymore. We arrived and barely acknowledged by three young woman at the front desk. Once brought us to our table and roughly placed the menus down along with a pencil that dropped to the floor. We all saw it, including her, and she said, "oh it fell", and walked away. OK. Perhaps the most disappointing sushi item we ordered was the snow crab maki, usually a highlight, but the shrimp tempura used inside the roll was cold, soggy and tasteless. We commented to the waitress that this sushi seemed off and she said she would mention it to the chef. That was the end of that. Nothing was done. You don't even get a fortune cookie at the end of the meal anymore. While this place used to be packed, and I would need to make a reservation, there was no surprise that there were only two other tables seated. I would not be surprised if this location closes soon, sadly that was how bad our experience was. What a loss for Reading.

Thai Tong Young Soup (Tom yum soup)
    Alison S.

First time going here. Very cute place. I went during between lunch and dinner on a Saturday so it was a little quiet. Probably their down time. Bartender was really nice. Started off with an espresso martini. It was good. I ordered the Thai "tong yong" soup, it's normally called Thai tom yum. It was tasty, the chicken was tender. There's usually shrimp in this soup as well and different veggies in there. Never had pea-pods in there before. Sexy girl maki was good. The mango sauce was very light. It has spicy salmon, tuna, yellowtail topped with tuna, salmon, avocado and the mango sauce with a jalapeno. Also had uni sashimi and scallop sashimi. Both were good and it was a good amount compared to other restaurants that I've been to. All and all I would go there again to try more items on the menu.

    Duck sauce portion

My wife just experienced the worst customer service ever from the manager of this location. We have been customers for 5+ years but will not be returning after tonight. Look at the two small 1oz cups of duck sauce they provided for a family of 4 ordering large appetizers (I.e., chicken fingers, crab rangoons, etc). Also, we ordered the beef and mushroom with no mushrooms (just beef) and received other veggies which wasn't a big deal but the meat was lightly coated in sauce (extremely dry). We usually get a nice amount of sauce and serve over rice but this was not the usual. When we called to voice our concerns the manager first HUNG UP ON US! We called back and she basically said we were lying even going to ask the chef if he put sauce on the food and obviously he said yes...... CHECK OUT THE PICTURES FOR YOURSELF. Our family, friends, and colleagues will ALL be warned of Oye's in Reading MA. Customers should obviously come first take it from someone in business development (Me).

Drunken Noodles - be careful may contain metal shards

We have had some good experiences ordering takeout in the past but tonight's was very disappointing. The avocado salad was delicious but the portion was quite small. The shrimp tempura roll and the Hawaiian Sunshine rolls were both fine. The Drunken noodles though just ruined the entire dinner. Noodles and chicken were both quite dry. Not to be deterred by the lack of moisture and flavor i was persevering through and about half way through I bit an into something not quite right. Very glad I didn't ingest this metal shard pictured below.

FYI: Crab Rangoon really slaps + feels authentic, also -- buttery, crisp, caloric, savory.

The food speaks for itself; it's fresh, delicious, and prepared in a way that feels like the animal was respected from start to finish. The service is attentive and quick, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. The inside seating area is small, but when the weather is nice the outside seating is pleasant. I have yet to attend the omakase, but I cannot wait! Our favorites were the Spanish mackerel, and the giant eye red snapper. Everything else was really good, but those two stood out as our favorites. You can also order the omakase à la carte, but best to give it some time to prepare because each piece is intricate. We look forward to trying if everything on the menu!

The chef behind this takeout / delivery sushi shop is Aline. She also appears to offer classes where she can teach you how to make your own sushi. She has been serving up Brazilian inspired sushi for 4 years. This is a new concept to me, but anything involving sushi is my cup of tea. The pickup location looks like office space when you enter, I assume the kitchen space is hiding behind the doorway. We tried a selection of the menu to get a feel for what they had to offer. Sushi offered is primarily salmon, but they've got crab stick if you're in the mood for a California roll, and some dessert sushi which we didn't try. Salmon is available raw or cooked in various rolls, hand rolls and other specialty items. Our favorite dish of the menu we tried was the salmon sashimi, it was fresh tasting salmon at a very reasonable portion size for the price. The owner/chef threw in a couple of complementary Brazilian inspired sushi items to try as well. The rice could use some additional seasoning, so hopefully by the time you give it a try this will be perfected! They are open Mon-Sat 12-3 and 5-10 in case you get hungry late.

I found myself in familiar territory and surroundings when I returned stay the Lakeview Inn hotel…read morefor a night, away from metro Boston in early May 2025. I arrived here via uber and decided to have dinner at the hotel's main restaurant, the Lakeside Tavern. This Yelp review is for the restaurant only and not the hotel. I arrived here around 9:30pm. I opted to get dinner here first before checking into the hotel for the night. The service that night I was here was crazy slow. They had loud live band music and the vibe here was generally an older crowd on a Thursday evening in May 2025. I found a seat next to the bar near the kitchen and after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to take my order, I walked to the cash register and waited for someone to arrive. I ended up getting one of their signature meals for the evening and that was that. Since it was close to 10pm that evening, the music was winding down. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes for my food to arrive. It came in a takeout container with a plastic bag. I would have gotten something at Boston, Logan International Airport, but it was after 8 PM when I arrived and nothing in the terminal was open for me. With that said, I was happy that the Lakeside Tavern was open for anybody and everybody who was wanting to be there. For lunch, dinner, or just hang out and listen to live music with adult beverages. For me, though, I just need dinner after a long day of travel to Boston from Honolulu. I was glad that they were until 10 PM, otherwise I would have took an Uber to see what was around at the time near the hotel that serve food. The overall experience at the lakeside Tavern here in Wakefield, Massachusetts was typically OK, although I was starving and wanted quicker service that night. While the service was very slow, it was nice to partake in the live music that night. The ambiance was chill and friendly. The service was friendly and welcoming too. For the most part though, the experience here was pretty good and most likely will come back again get my troubles permit me to do so. I'll try to get here as quick as I can, but then again their travel is normally the same as it was 10 years ago. The restaurant itself was very clean, although it was dark enough to wear I can't see much. I just was glad that this restaurant at the hotel I was staying at for the night was open and grateful that they were still serving food while I was there. If you decide to stay at this hotel, consider dining in the Lakeside tavern because it is basically on property. You don't need to go elsewhere for your meals if you don't need to. If you're lazy like me, this restaurant is your best bet if you're staying at the hotel. Definitely recommended if you are one of those people who just don't wanna leave the hotel for some reason if you're staying here at the Lakeside inn in Wakefield Massachusetts. The Lakeside Tavern is located inside the Lakeside Inn in Wakefield, Massachusetts. As soon as you enter the lobby, the entrance to the restaurant is on your left. Can't miss it. It is physically located at 595 North Avenue in Wakefield. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, they have a generous and huge parking lot for anybody and everybody who wishes to come here to stay or dine. Or both. Please share the parking spaces with a few other commercial retailers in the vicinity. There is a bank nearby, if you need cash. There is actually public transportation service to and from the hotel into Boston. I did not know this until my most recent trip here and decided to save a little bit of money and ride the local bus service into downtown Boston from Wakefield. It was pretty cool. Don't recommend it if you are traveling in the evening and don't know where you are if you are a tourist. So yes, there is public transportation options to and from the hotel, and they will depend on your original destination, whether it is the Amtrak station or Boston Logan international airport in Boston. And with that said, they have a limited menu, so be prepared for anything they have. The prices here were decent for any restaurant in the area. But if you're desperate and hungry, it's kind of worth it, especially when you're staying at the hotel for the night and you're starving. Which is what my situation was at the time. It was a quick stop for dinner that ended up being something other than quick. But if you like the loud live music to decompress after a nice day of traveling or a hard day at the office, consider coming to the lakeside Tavern for a good meal and to decompress. I'm sure they have alcohol service here, but I did not want to drink so late at night. 3.5 stars for the overall experience, mostly for the slower than normal service. But it is pretty good 5.0 stars for the location, because I was staying here. Support local! C+
