Vanilla Crepe Cake
Grace D.

I recently tried Blue Fin around 3:30pm for a late lunch. It wasn't overly busy when we arrived, but it was definitely starting to pick up. The dining room has a nice vibe -- modern, clean, and comfortable. It feels like a good spot for a casual date or catching up with friends. That said, the noise level builds quickly. Everyone was chatting, and you could easily overhear conversations without even trying. Service was genuinely great. Our server checked in consistently for water refills, cleared plates quickly, and asked if we needed anything -- but never felt overbearing. That balance is appreciated and made the experience smoother. One thing worth noting: some menu prices are higher than you might expect, especially since Google lists the average around $20-$30 per person. For some of the higher-priced items, photos on the menu would really help set expectations. The portions do help justify the entrée pricing somewhat, but the overall bill -- $110 for a late lunch for two -- was honestly higher than expected. We started with the spicy edamame. To make it spicy was a $2 upcharge, which felt unnecessary -- most places offer regular, sea salt, or spicy at the base price. That rubbed me the wrong way. For sushi, we ordered two pieces of unagi and two pieces of wagyu. The fish/meat to rice ratio was generous (see picture). The unagi sushi is something a sushi chef can't really mess up -- solid and as expected. The wagyu sushi, however, had a very intense char on top and was extremely fatty. Depending on your preference, that could be a plus or a bit overpowering. The spicy beef rice bowl was a very large portion -- honestly enough to split between two people. The onions had a nice crunch and weren't soggy, which I appreciated. The beef is shaved rather than sliced, and you can't choose how it's cooked. The spice level was faint, should have spice level indicators on items like this. I did feel like the dish was missing another vegetable element that could have elevated it. The chicken curry bento box came with a lot: two tempura shrimp, two deep-fried pork gyoza, one sweet potato tempura, sticky rice, and the curry chicken. The chicken was very tender. The curry had that strong, classic curry aroma and was well balanced in flavor. Nothing to rave about. Both meals came with miso soup and salad. The salad dressing wasn't for me; I prefer something tangy, and this one tasted more like pan juices from cooked meat. For dessert, we tried the vanilla crepe cake. It honestly tasted like tiramisu. If they offered a matcha version, that might have set it apart more. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, I'm glad we tried it and had the experience. The service and portion sizes stood out positively. However, for the price point, it's not a "must-return" spot for me, and not somewhere I'd immediately recommend off the top of my head when people ask.

I've been to Blue Fin a handful of times and it has always been a great experience. The waitstaff and sushi chefs are always so welcoming when you walk in. We usually come for lunch and it is a quiet setting, which we like. Their sushi is very good! We're big fans of the spicy scallop roll, spicy tuna, and dragon roll. The sashimi was fresh, we loved the toro and Suzuki! You also have to order their garlic noodles to start, it is full of flavor and it isn't too garlicky!

The food was delicious! My son got ramen and loved it as well. Service was excellent as well. Definitely will be coming back during my business trips.

The restaurant was clean and the service was great. The food came out and looked delicious. Unfortunately I think the sushi was bad. Got really sick and will never go back.

They are so nice to me! Make me feel welcomed and promptly sat me and let me sit in one of their booths even though I normally go alone there. Sometimes I would sit at the bar but rather booth. Cute little bar they have and lots to choose from Down to sushi and all!

Came in on the way back from New Hampshire and was craving Japanese curry. Wow we were very lucky we did. We ordered the Diamond Roll, Explosion Roll, Spicy Beef Donburi, and Chicken Cutlet Curry. Diamond Roll (5/5) The seared salmon on the top made this a unique must try. Never had this before, but 100% elevates the shrimp tempura roll. Would come back just for this. Explosion Roll (4/5) You can see the scorch marks on the scallop and crab topping of the roll. It was tasty but almost had a fishy taste to it, which is why I took off 1 star. Spicy Beef (6/5) That's right, it was THAT good. If you like spicy foods, this was excellent. Tasted was savory with a heat that builds. The portion size was definitely worth the $20! More than 2/3 of the bowl was thinly sliced beef that was perfectly cooked. The pickled ginger perfectly complements the dish when you feel like you need a break from the spice. Would drive back from Boston just to try this dish! Chicken Cutlet Tempura (5/5) It was pricey at $22 but the portion size made up for it! Crispy chicken katsu with a ton of flavorful and rich curry. Can't go wrong with this one! The ambience was quaint and welcoming. Service was excellent. Our server, Emily was very kind and attentive, complimenting my gf's earrings and getting us our food out in less than 10 minutes. She got us water before we even sat down and even helped us bag everything when we were leaving! Sushi chefs were very nice, greeting customers as they entered and left. The only complaint was the miso soup, which was overwhelmingly salty. But from their decor to even the decision of using mason jars for water cups, they did a great job. You need to try this place out!

Asked a friend for a good sushi place in the area. He suggested this place in which were were extremely happy it was suggested. The atmosphere was amazing , it was packed so we sat at the sushi bar. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing. It was a little more expensive than our normal sushi place we go to but it was worth it . Will be back and make the trip again

I am so glad that I have the chance to visit Blue Fin today. The food was amazing, especially the torched salmon belly and the Celtics roll. The sushi rolls tasted so fresh. The service was on point! Very friendly staffs and Sandra was the best. She treated us like a family by offering us top notch service. The vibe is so good! Definitely will be my new favorite sushi restaurant.

Sushi Gozen

Their food was awesome!!!! It was wicked hot that day, the restaurant was so hot too. It's so humid I just want to leave asap. The foods are undeniably awesome! I had sushi gozen. One of them was seabass oh God! Never had sushi so smooth and milky in US, like the sweet shrimp I had in japan! It's so fresh and delicious! I never dip my sushi to soy sauce, so I can tell if the fish really fresh. I did try dip my tuna in their soy sauce, and it taste even better. My husband had house ramen, I bet you can tell by it looks. It is as good as it looks the only downfall was the broth was too little. Can wait to go back there and have it again! Great job bluefin!!

I was highly recommended this location so here we were! The outside and interior isn't anything particularly noteworthy but the quality of the food was definitely top notch. The chefs preparing the sushi and our main courses were Japanese (this is not usually the case) which explains the high quality of the food prepared. We ordered: Beef combo (bento) - $25 Katsu don - $14 Yellowtail maki roll - $6.50 Eel and avocado roll - $9.50 I was quite impressed with the food and unlike Boston, there's plenty of parking available so if you're in the area and enjoy some quality Japanese food give this place a go!

Normally, when it costs more than $27, they only charge $27 because it doesn't make sense. Well, the woman charged me $37. When I saw this, I questioned her. She told me that she couldn't give me my money back because it had already been charged on the computer! In other words, they stole it! I don't recommend anyone to go to this establishment! There is also a small Park with green space & a children's play area right next to the Cows with Frog & Turtle Sratues. In 1961 on Rt. 1 in Saugus MA. Frank Guiffrida opened up a Western Style restaurant. The place was Huge. At its peak it served over 20,000 people a week. They even had their own to go Butcher Shop. At it's pinnacle the 20,000 square-foot 2 story restaurant served more than 2 million customers. It was one of the busiest restaurants in the whole USA. Patrons would wait in huge lines next to the cows for their number to be called. You were assigned a number & a room that you were going to dine in. Then they would announce your number & room over a loud speaker such as # 92 Kansas City. Then you'd enter the restaurant & go to your assigned designated table. The Hilltop was known for its large portions of high-quality food at low prices in its heyday especially their Steaks & Prime Rib. In later years though customers thought the food had gone hill. The restaurant finally closed after many decades in 2013. Many people were Heartbroken. They still have a Soft Spot for this restaurant - It was Part of their Lives. The cows were rescued & purchased by WS Development of Newton. The cow trio now graze just a few miles away at a new outdoor mall on Market St in the city of Lynnfield. They did an excellent job restoring the fiberglass cows but then they decided to paint them shiny colors & they look brand new. Although they did a great job restoring them the shiny paint most definitely takes away from the vintage feel. They should have restored them exactly like the originals. The History, Nostalgia & warm feeling has all been taken away with that shiny new paint job. If there wasn't a sign there, I would think they are some random new cows on display. Hopefully someone will realize their mistake & fix this issue & bring the Vintage Vibe & Retro Colors back to these Beloved Art pieces once again. These cool relics of the past were part of millions of people's lives. When they Restore them to the Origibal they'll definitely get a 5 Star from me. I always appreciate when owners take the time to visit the tables and say hello to their guests. Those personal touches really make a difference! Now, let's talk about the food! It was beyond my expectations. We started with the Caesar salad, shrimp crostinis, and calamari, which easily made my top 3! The sides were just as incredible: au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! For my entrée, I ordered the Mahi Mahi special with lobster chunks, and it was SOOO good! My husband ordered the ribeye, and he practically couldn't put his fork down. That says it all! I would give the vibe a townie dive bar with good food. We were strangers but welcomed when we walked in. Everyone was ordering food and drinks, all looked yummy. We picked out our table and got some drinks. Looked at the specials and the menu and my mom decided on the steak tips (with baked potato and side salad) and I had the shrimp and scallop with red pepper sauce. The steak tips were big and juicy, great portion. Maybe needed more marinade or some steak sauce. We asked for a hot sauce for the baked potato but there were none. We had also asked for a steak knife, but there were none. Cut the steak with a "sharpish" butter knife. Side salad was just a side salad. When I ordered the shrimp n scallop, it was also on the specials but they were out of scallops (very sad). Instead they added more shrimp but the price remained the same even though shrimp n scallops cost differently. Oh well, I got 8 large shrimps! The sauce was AMAZING, I loved the flavor very much. The noodles were done well and I enjoyed. The shrimp looked a little translucent and tough but ate a few, I was a little nervous. Brought the rest home for leftovers and to heat up the shrimp. The portion was fabulous. Excited for those yummy leftovers. Our service was alright, we had to ask for refills, reminders a few times on other items but the food came out fast. We got to meet the owner Laurie. She was very very sweet and you can see how hard working she is. I love to go to a restaurant where you see the owner cares and enjoys what they do. It was great, she was great. Can't wait to come back again and try some more delicious food!
