Food was nice and drinks were very good- I especially enjoyed the yuzu sake. However service was extraordinary slow and my dinner mate had to show himself to the table. Multiple parties that showed up after us got their food before us. Overall a good experience but disappointed by the long wait. There is a section with more traditional style floor dining that seems very intimate and sweet, nice for a date night. We were sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant and it was quite busy. Our meal was satisfying- he got a ramen, my tempura veggies were excellent and shrimp shumai was good. The fried bok choy is not pan fried, but rather deep fried, crispy and oily. I would return here, but not if I need a meal quickly. read more

We had an excellent dinner at Kame the other night! They have really extensive menu including bowls, noodles, and of course, sushi. We ordered a ton of sushi and it was super good! The service was great, but a bit slow. It was a busy Saturday night, but I'd recommend giving yourself a bit of extra time to enjoy yourself. We will definitely be back again soon! read more

FYI THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED HANDS! Bo and Lily no longer own this restaurant. We were told they are on vacation. This is not true. They no longer own this restaurant and it's obvious. The food was not good. I got some chicken dish for my grandson he saw on the menu. It was uneatable. So much breading. The suschi was also not good, and overpriced. They have snowcrab on the menu however when I asked if it's fresh the server first said yes. But looked uncertain so he asked the chef and come to find out it was imitation crab. For 20 dollars! This place was the worst food I've ever had to pay for. Very disappointing! read more

My husband and I took our son here for his 27th birthday Friday night and the service and food were excellent. I had the lychee martini which was delicious. We had unagi roll, salmon roll and soft shell crab roll which were all plentiful and tasty. For dessert our waitress also wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate sauce on the plate that held coconut ice cream and whipped cream. The restaurant is very clean, too. read more

Service was abominable. My wife and I walked out of the restaurant after waiting over an hour for a very simple Sushi order; which never arrived. This experience spoiled our Valentine's Day evening. I've honestly became a regular at Kame and I genuinely looooove the food here. The food has a lot of flavour, very well made, and definitely keeps me coming back. The restaurant itself is actually a bit smaller than you'd expect, which when it's busy can be a little crowded. But it's homey when it's not too busy. However the customer service and cooking is why there isn't a fifth star. I believe the customer service to be very inconsistent (coming from a person who gets a lot of anxiety when going to restaurant LOL) and even the serving sometimes. There's been a couple of times where me and a friend will go, and they'll serve us salad with dressing or udon soup with no charge, kinda similar as a free appetizer I think. Then most of the time they won't do that. Not saying this is necessarily bad but it's just a bit confusing. Sometimes when I get the gyoza (dumplings) or ramen, I'll want it fried, and sometimes they'll bring out a full crunchy fried dumpling which is not really good, or they'll come out with the good dumplings where it's only fried at the bottom. Secondly, I usually get the ramen, and I get it when chicken. Sometimes the chicken comes out a bit soggy when it's supposed to be crispy and clean to bite into. It's just a bit disappointing what day you come in and they have the fresh/good chicken. Then with the customer service with the waiters is very 50-50 in my opinion. Sometimes they come off as a bit rude with small comments or even looks, and I end up feeling bad about wanting to change regular noodles for udon noodles . I don't think they do it intentionally by any means, but I think it could be something to consider! Either way, love this place and definitely worth the visit read more

KAME!! For whatever reason, when we moved to Beverly we tried Blu Karma sushi before anything else and were impressed and just stuck with it. Then last month we wanted a splurge sushi dinner to celebrate something and BK's systems were down so we ordered from Kame instead and WOW. We were blown away. Red snapper special was so sweet and fresh- everything, really, so fresh and delicate. Staples like seaweed salad and miso were also rock solid. Tempura is never at its best when it sits, but everything was cooked perfectly and the sauce was fab. We've since ordered another couple times and that experience has held up. Fresh, delicious. What reasonably priced, AND they pack thoughtfully (and beautifully) for takeout. Super friendly service, too. read more

This place is a concrete restaurant if you are really hungry and just need some Japanese food. The quality isn't incredible but you will be satisfied. I ordered the chicken katsu (needed more katsu sauce) and my mom ordered the chicken teriyaki which were both satisfying but not incredible. I was insanely hungry anyway so it was yummy. The most disappointing part about the experience was the miso soup. Miso soup should be the staple of every Japanese restaurant and this soup was straight up bad and I was super disappointed. I went into Kame for lunch sushi and was pleased with their selection. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have a snow mountain roll, but I went with it. I got the Boston and a snow crab maki (1 piece). Both were very tasty. The crab wasn't as good as I have had it other places. My guess is it's either 1) not real crab (aka crab stick) or 2) previously frozen, not fresh crab. The clam soup was okay, but kind of had a weird aftertaste. I loved their fresh green tea and decor. The decor is super fun and I have heard the traditional food is good, but I didn't try any of that on this visit. I know the edamame is good as I have ordered that on a previous visit. It was very quiet when I went at 12 o'clock and the waitress was friendly. Overall, I would try it again. read more

This is my sushi shrine--tucked away on Cabot St., attracts diners who happily hobnob with the friendly, talkative chefs, while popping exceptional nigiri morsels into their mouths. The sushi menu is exciting and unique, and the chefs are always eager to create something new.! I also think they have the very best Yaki - Ika I had ever had. I know what you're thinking... grilled...squid? What's wrong with you, man? But seriously, it's worth pushing past an aversion to scarfing down some of the oddest-looking creatures in the sea. Always grilled correctly, Kame's squid takes on new life after it hits the flame. The flesh plumps up nicely and the meat becomes tender and luscious--nothing like the rubbery squid you've had in fried calamari. Its paired with a phenomenal soy-ginger sauce which makes it almost impossible for me not to order. There's a long list of appetizers, but if monk-fish liver is available that day, there's a reason it's called the foie gras of the sea: It's marbled, meaty, and fatty. Sushi-wise, you'll find a vegetable-roll section, and concessions made for fancy-roll types, but I awlays enjoy the Nigiri. The best item on the menu is Chawan - Mushi, which means steam tea bowl, The custard consists of an egg mixture flavored with soy sauce, dashi, and mirin, with numerous ingredients such as shiitake mushrooms, kamaboko,and boiled shrimp placed into a tea-cup-like container. If you've never had steamed eggs, you're missing out. The smooth, silky texture is akin to soft tofu, but more savoury and creamy. Another favorite is to ask for a Chai Hand Roll, a mixture of cut fish and spices rolled into a hand roll. Chai is an excellent sushi chef,.I can't even put into words how amazingly he cuts the fish and how carefully he does it, I always can't believe my taste buds. Kame's always treated me very well the past 10 years, never a dissapointment, which makes it difficult for me to go elsewhere. This restaurant has been a downtown Beverly institution for decades. Recent visit rendered good food and pleasant service. But their nonchalant stance towards food allergy is disturbing. The Udon described as rice noodle actually contained wheat. I react badly to gluten and they had many excuses as to why the word wheat is not in the dish description. In the end, I had to give all the Udon to my spouse and ate the broth with cooked rice. If I had not challenge the waitress before taking the first bite of Udon I would have been unwell for days. read more

Did a little experiment. Wasn't so successful. But this was more our fault than Kame's. The experiment could be summed up in three words: brown rice sushi. What can I say. It was worth a shot. But until I'm convinced otherwise, BRS will be the healthier and less tasty alternative to the real McCoy. Nonetheless, Kame managed to make it look attractive -- as attractive as something called a "scorpion roll" and a "caterpillar roll" could be. So points for presentation. Service was friendly. Atmosphere was negligible, just some posters on the wall and traditional bric-a-brac to give the impression of authenticity. Only real oddity: it was a cold night, and it was also freezing in the restaurant. We weren't seated near the doors and we were wearing scarves. Yummy yummy yummy is all I have to say about this place! This was my favorite stop while I was visiting MA. I absolutely love sushi and this place did not let me down. Me and my friend sat in their section where you have to take your shoes off and enjoyed our dinner that way. We split a scorpion bowl drink and got a bunch of apps and sushi and rice. Definitely my favorite sushi restaurant on the North Shore. I have been coming here for about 5 years and it's still incredible. Beautiful slices of fresh fish. Tasty rolls. Friendly and prompt service. One of my favorites things they give you is a hot towel to start. I have tried spicy tuna rolls from here to California and Kame serves one of the BEST. Huge fan of this place. They also have an area that you take your shoes off and sit on mats. Great place. I eat here weekly and love it. Sashmi deluxe rocks my world. read more
