Would eat here every night if I could. We sat at the bar…read moreand the vibe was upscale relaxed. This awesome new bartender Colleen waited on us and the service throughout was perfect - attentive but not too hovering. I always have trouble picking a main course as there are many that I want. Trust me (I know you don't know me) - save room for the butter cake for dessert. You won't regret it.

Really fun and entertaining dinner experience night out at Post 1917 in Reading AKA Jason Carron…read more Great for date nights. Atmosphere/Decor: Really interesting and unique interior formerly a Post Office (hence the name) with exposed brick, a tall windows, and a very long three-sided bar that makes up most of the restaurant. Very happening and social scene. Most folks dressed business casual and to impress. Lots of birthdays, regulars, and lookers. Big glam meets classic steakhouse hybrid vibes. We sat at a booth behind the bar and were initially concerned about placement but glad for the happening scene afterwards. The legroom was fairly tight for the taller folks. The booth was a little tight with space for all our food and drinks (e.g., four people, four cocktails, four waters, three appetizers was tight). Service: Very attentive. We had great servers, very attentive, fun, offered helpful insights and thoughts, and took great care of us ala traditional steakhouse norms. No delays. No complaints. Food: We really enjoyed our meal. The appetizers were fun. The restaurant is gluten free in homage to one of the owners(?) kids who's found it hard to eat out. You probably wouldn't notice that it's gluten free, as whatever almond/corn/rice flour they're using closely mimics mouth feel and taste. We were a little surprised the lamb app was (gluten-free) breaded but very moist and flavorful. Our steaks were all very good. I had the ribeye and it was a nice cut, aged (23-30 days?), and cooked exactly as desired. Cauliflower was decent and voluminous but not amazing. Wedge decent. Filets good. The chicken parm sounded very intriguing -- different than the usual fare and apparently one of their most popular dishes and huge but we will save it for next time. Fun desert options. Drinks: Great dirty martini. Fun cocktails for the table -- some great some just good. All boozy. The Whistle Pig tasting desert option was a a great value even if just for the 12 year XII at that price. They have a few rare allocated bourbons and whiskeys. Price: A much better deal than Boston steakhouses in general. This would have been twice the price if downtown there, and they're clearly enticing folks to make the drive. I think it's well worth it.

First off, she said she loved the place other than it's one of those places that have the tables in pretty tight together - but food and service wise -she said everything went excellent. She had the Chicken and Waffles, her older brother had a Belgian Waffle and her younger brother had some sort of open faced sandwich with excellent home fries. For my dinner, which we reheated in the air frier, was Excellent. They had made a killer burger with some excellent shoe-string fries that reheated very well. The burger (from the dinner menu) was excellent and I didn't even know it had Swiss on it at the time, because it tasted so damn good. The real prize were those wings. I would drive to Lynn from Merrimack Valley for these wings. Nice blend of sweet and hot. Great experience without having to make the trip personally!!!

They were playing 70s and 80s music, which was fun for this Gen X girl. The staff is genuinely friendly and attentive, a crew of sweet kids. The food was really delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures. I need to put the Ox on my regular rotation. I'm dying to try more of their menu items.

The flavors of everything I tried were strong and welcomed. The other entrees were also reported as excellent. The service was prompt and pleasant. I really wanted to like Alchemy! Read on and you'll see why I am unlikely to return. The environment was unfortunately not as welcoming as the food and service. The noise level was painfully loud. I did ask for the music to be turned down as a reasonable accommodation so I could hear my friends at the table as my hearing isn't great. The staff graciously turned down the recorded music a bit. Then a live singer started with her amplifier and she was louder than the music originally was. I discreetly asked the general manager to reduce the volume of the amplifier as an accommodation for my hearing disability, which was done for a few minutes, and then the volume was turned back up. Disregarding disabilities is a deal breaker for me to want to return. Not being able to converse with people at my table made for an unpleasant departure. Hopefully your visit, if you choose to go, will be pleasant and not too loud!

Had my first time of many dinners at Laurie's. A place I've driven by but never noticed. I read…read moreabout this place on an online group and had to stop by. I would give the vibe a townie dive bar with good food. We were strangers but welcomed when we walked in. Everyone was ordering food and drinks, all looked yummy. We picked out our table and got some drinks. Looked at the specials and the menu and my mom decided on the steak tips (with baked potato and side salad) and I had the shrimp and scallop with red pepper sauce. The steak tips were big and juicy, great portion. Maybe needed more marinade or some steak sauce. We asked for a hot sauce for the baked potato but there were none. We had also asked for a steak knife, but there were none. Cut the steak with a "sharpish" butter knife. Side salad was just a side salad. When I ordered the shrimp n scallop, it was also on the specials but they were out of scallops (very sad). Instead they added more shrimp but the price remained the same even though shrimp n scallops cost differently. Oh well, I got 8 large shrimps! The sauce was AMAZING, I loved the flavor very much. The noodles were done well and I enjoyed. The shrimp looked a little translucent and tough but ate a few, I was a little nervous. Brought the rest home for leftovers and to heat up the shrimp. The portion was fabulous. Excited for those yummy leftovers. Our service was alright, we had to ask for refills, reminders a few times on other items but the food came out fast. We got to meet the owner Laurie. She was very very sweet and you can see how hard working she is. I love to go to a restaurant where you see the owner cares and enjoys what they do. It was great, she was great. Can't wait to come back again and try some more delicious food!
