Lunch specials were a good value! Staff was kind. Only very weird thing was that they charge you 75 cents a roll. Kind of bizarre. We had a large group and got a basket of 4 rolls for 13 people... I didn't expect to be told we had to pay almost a dollar a roll when we're all ordering lunch. Very weird. Most restaurants give you unlimited rolls. We didn't even have enough for the table. So the 4 people closest grabbed a roll, then my mom had to grab the waitress walking by to ask if we could have more rolls, and was told to request how many because each one was $.75. She asked for one for her and we got charged lol so wild. My lunch was good though. Wish I had it with some bread. read more

We were seated immediately. The hostess was extremely friendly. Every meal on the dinner menu comes with a salad or chowder. Portions are large enough to feed 2-3, so we had plenty of leftovers. The chicken parmigiana was a filleted breast, set atop a half pound of linguine. The rack of ribs was more than 12 ribs, with fries and coleslaw. I have been here about a dozen times! It's my brother's favorite restaurant! Everyone I have ever been here with, totally loves it too! The ambience is warm and welcoming. Wear whatever you want. I have eaten in the main restaurant and at the bar. Both are great, but I find the bar cozier. The bar has a nice U-Shaped wooden area and booths. Both are comfy. Food is wonderful, and they serve Luncheon Specials. The last two times, my brother and I got a Luncheon Special...swordfish and steak with a choice of potato and vegetables. My brother's gf got steak tips with potato and vegetables. We also got a salad. Everything was delicious! So much food, we all took home leftovers. Everything is great! Glad to be a regular! One of my many return trips to Jimmy's, which has become my go-to for quality prime rib. Goodbye, Century House! We started with the special appetizer of yummy steak & cheese spring rolls with spicy ketchup. My 10oz prime rib was cooked a perfect medium and couldn't have been more tender. Fresh mixed veggies rounded out the meal. My friend had the baked stuffed shrimp and tips (well done) combo. Our garden salads were fresh and the blue cheese dressing is exceptional. Stumbled across this restaurant while looking for something other than pizza. We were seated quickly and service was excellent. The restaurant was clean and well maintained and offered a nice, casual feel. The food was delicious and the overall price was to be expected for a group of three adults at a steakhouse. Our group had the ribs, prime steak, and house salad with added blackened chicken (the chicken, while flavorful, was a bit pricey for the amount on the salad.) The menu itself, while compact, offered plenty of variety to choose from to meet the dietary needs/wishes of everyone. We will definitely visit again! read more

I originally wrote a review for Jimmy's about 15 years ago, and after all this time, I still stand by it, maybe even more now than I did then. The prime rib here is the best I've ever had. Not just once or twice, but every time. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, no need for extra salt, sauce, or anything else. Just the meat, exactly as it should be. Honestly it feels like a religious experience when you take that first bite. I've tried prime rib at more places than I can count over the years, including at Jimmy's other location in Arlington, but nothing ever compares to the one in Saugus. I have no idea what they're doing differently, but they've been doing it right for decades now. And the rack of lamb? Yeah, that's still as amazing as it ever was. read more

I went here on 9/30/24 with a friend. My friend got surf & turf with scallops and I asked to do a surf & turf with baked scrod. Even though it wasn't on menu, the waitress said they could make anything surf & turf. Food was excellent and service was great. When we got the check I was charged for surf & turf with scallops. Now, scrod is much less expensive than scallops. When I questioned it, our server told us that was what her manager told her to do. I asked for manager to come over. Manager said that's what they do for the scrod. Again I said it's not scallops, scrod is much less expensive. She says that's what they do. I asked for the name of the general manager. However, the kitchen manager came over and said I got a full order of scrod, "What did you expect to pay for a full order". I did not get a full order, it was half. Also, how about you let myself or any customer know, they are getting charged for scallops. Managers were both rude, server was very nice. I'm just amazed by the whole experience and not in a good way. The fact that they feel justified in their pricing and treatment of patrons is rather disgusting. At Jimmy's there are no surprises. Your meal always arrives as you ordered it. My favorite is a Teriyaki steak served medium rare - and that is exactly what I receive. It is always tender and flavorful - just as I expect it to be. The smaller of the two optional sizes is more than adequate to satisfy a hungry patron. I had the Ribeye cooked to perfection! My wife also had the Ribeye cooked to perfection! My mom and aunt had the steak Teriyaki with shrimp and crab pie and nothing was left behind. Just found Jimmy's Steer House recently even though it been around for quite some time. It is owned by the same company that owns Grassfield's in Andover which I have also been many times. The interior is very nice, loads of booths. Cozy atmosphere. Huge bar. The restaurant accommodates and large number of guests and has at least one room that I saw for private parties. The first time we went there, we got potato skins and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. Very good. Hubby got Prime Rib and I got the Prime Club steak. My steak was super tender and delicious and his Prime Rib was also very good. The club steak also comes with a tasty Mushroom Madeira sauce. Next time he got the Prime Rib again and I, the Prime Club steak. Again, they were very tender and tasty. We went again the other night with my daughter and all three of us got the Prime Club steak. The waitress immediately said they were out of the club steak, but went and checked and said they had it. So, all three of us ordered it. All three steaks were not the usual tender and delicious and did not even look like the usual club steak. They had those white gristles in the meat and weren't tender at all. I can see one steak, but all three? I even questioned if it was even my usual club steak. On all three visits, we had the delicious rice, mashed potato or baked potato. The entrees also come with a very cold garden salad. We had their house Italian which is also very good. You also get Focaccia bread and butter. Coffee delicious and drinks very good as well. Every waitress we've had have been attentive and pleasant. Never rushed. Prices are very reasonable. On one visit, we ordered the Apple Strudel with ice cream which was super good. I will visit the restaurant again and I'm hoping my last visit was just a fluke. I will take David B's suggestion and get the clam chowder next time. And Dana M's post on the overall operation of the restaurant is right on par. You can see how well a restaurant is run by the service and quality of food. All in all very good. read more

There were 13 of us for a birthday party for my 93 year old Dad. When we made the reservation we asked if we could bring in our own birthday cake and we were told we could. When I got there and put my homemade cake on the table, one of the waitresses(?) came up to me and basically scolded me for bringing in a homemade cake and said we could only bring in a store bought cake. I told her they never told us that and that my Dad was diabetic and had other food restrictions, but she just said no. I felt like a criminal. Luckily we also brought a small store bought cake so at least we could have something to put birthday candles on. It took a long time for our food to come out, so I asked for more rolls for the table while we waited. The waitress told me that she would have to charge us 79 cents for each additional roll!! Really? We're spending $400+ for lunch and you're trying to charge us for some extra rolls? We all ordered a variety of dishes, some good and some not so good. The streak tips and burgers were way overcooked, and the sauce on the pasta that came with my veal parm was just awful. This restaurant was one of my Dad's favorites, but I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon. read more

Went today with my wife and she had the tips. She really didn't care for them. Had what appeared to be a salad dressing marinade. She did however love their clam chowder. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. We came on a Friday night and were able to get seated right away without any reservations. The portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable. What really made our night such a pleasant experience was the service provided by our waitress Stephanie. She went above and beyond to make our meal enjoyable by offering suggestions (ie. Tabasco for the clam chowder, horse radish for the steak, mushroom gravy for the mashed potatoes). She was personable and genuinely wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. I couldn't have asked for a better service. My friend and I got the 16oz Boneless Ribeye Steak from the Chef Selections menu. The steak was perfectly seared and tasty with the horse radish. I would've liked the fat to be rendered off more, but this was not a deal breaker. This dish was $28.99 and includes a choice of a side and clam chowder or salad. We both chose the clam chowder which was extremely creamy and decadent. For the side, I chose the rice pilaf and my friend chose the mashed potatoes. The rice pilaf was seasoned well and flavorful. The mashed potatoes came with this amazingly rich and delicious brown mushroom gravy that elevated the potatoes to another level. Besides the food, I also got a Strawberry Frozen Margarita per our waitress's suggestion. And oh my, this was probably the biggest margarita I've ever had - the glass was as big as my face!
