My aunt passed away earlier this month and Rosaria graciously hosted our luncheon after her services. The function hall was beautiful and all the staff was so very kind. There was appetizers, lunch, and dessert. The bereavement package was priced at $29 per person which was very fair. The food was delicious, especially the chicken florentine. We had my 40th birthday party at Rosaria a couple of weeks ago, and everything was fabulous! Staff was very helpful to my friends and family when they went to set up, and the room looked stunning. We went here not realizing that this is primarily a place where people go to have functions. The decor is grandiose in that way. As a restaurant, it gets a C+/B-. Service: our waitress was very nice, very personable, and very apologetic for the various mistakes, and they were MANY. Almost laughable. But anyone can have a really bad day. If the food was great, it wouldn't have mattered. Food: The chicken piccata was served with a very gloppy lemon-ish sauce that would have been at home in a cafeteria. Equally sad, I ordered canoli for dessert (which ought to be a no brainer at an Italian place) and the shell was soft and not fresh. Ick. I should have sent it back but I didn't. My bad. To be fair, the calamari shared by the table was delicious, tender and not overly battered, and one of my companions said the frutti di mare was very good. Literally, the most disgusting dining experience on the North Shore. The staff is horrible. Nothing is set up right nobody is attentive a place. We will never revisit after two horrible dining experiences at this absolute abomination of a restaurant. Food is decent, portions are small. It's really weird how they deliver it like it's hotel room service that's kind of offputting. They really need to work on their staffing and their delivery techniques really not worth your time or your money. I really wanted to like this restaurant ! The gluten free option consisted of plain bland white rice and boiled chicken w/ zero flavor and a bowl of lettuce, no cukes, no tomatoes and no dressing. They had peppers and onions available but didn't offer that . Maybe Not knowing if peppers and onions were gluten free? The blonde waitress had an attitude . I went behind the buffet table to retrieve something that was dropped and the blonde waitress said " what the hell is she doing back here!" I went to Rosaria's for a memorial dinner on Sunday May 20 th. I loved everything about it. The tables where elegantly placed We had Caesar salad served to us very efficiently and the rest of the dinner was a buffet. The line went very smoothly and the portions were huge. OK, So I hate to sound like a broken record...BUT, once again we went to Rosaria's. My husband decided to branch out and order the Prime Sirloin Strip Steak. I ordered the same ol, same ol... Chicken Piccata (aka Lemon Chicken you can cut with a fork)...Yum. I tried my husbands steak and OMG...there is no disappointment here. Wow, this is the steak for me.....super, super tender, cooked "perfectly" (and I mean perfectly)...and the tastiest steak I have ever tasted, and super thick....Being a self-taught cook, I know getting a super thick steak cooked perfectly is an art in itself. This was perfect. He enjoyed every bite. If you are looking for the ultimate steak that is literally melt in your mouth, super tasty, and cooked to your liking, this is THE steak for you!.... And if you are a creature of habit and have a lemon obsession like me, I stick to my Chicken Piccata, which is enjoyable every time. This place was MOBBED on New Years Eve with reservations not only for dinner, but for the after party as well. We've been back with friends a few times since our original visit, and Rosaria has greatly improved. So much so that I can't remember specifically what we've eaten when we've gone. I do remember that the calamari is always good! I'll update again the next time I go, I feel bad for leaving a scathing review up for so long after they had made changes. read more

Love Rosaria!! I've only been twice but everything has be wonderful. Great bread (with plenty and they refill it, unlike many restaurants that are stingy with bread). I've had the caprese and fried calamari as appetizers which were both delicious. Each time I've been there I have ordered the Delmonico steak, medium rare. Cooked perfectly and so delicious! Something worth noting is their vegetables. I often don't love the vegetables at restaurants. They are usually bland and/or not cooked well. I had green beans with my steak that I loved! Not mushy at all and a great flavor that everyone at my party agreed on. I have had the tiramisu for dessert, which was a nice end to the meal. The staff always takes care of you and are all very nice and personable! I can't eat to go back. Yummm read more

FYI, Never dined here prior! We made reservations online for Valentine's Day. (Technically a sistertine, just us girlies!) It's pretty straightforward, nothing you couldn't comprehend. Well on to the actual night... When we arrived, the hostess informed us that all reservations were delayed about half hour, our reservations were for 8pm BTW. Not a problem with us as we decided to head to the bar. The hostess also stated she would come get us once our table was ready. The bar was a little congested as I assumed everyone was waiting for their table as well, but we were still able to get seats. Well, after about 40 mins and few drinks in we were famished. I went back to the hostess to check on the time and she stated it might be another half hour. I then overheard her say the 7pm table have been there about an hour and a half, which is I thought was understandable given that its Valentine's. At this point, our stomachs couldn't handle the wait, so we just decided to just eat at the bar and cancel our reservations. It was 15 mins right after we ordered our meals at the bar that the hostess came and asked us if we still wanted a table. I was kind of dumbfounded because why would they even bother? Actually, I was a little annoyed at the fact they couldn't accommodate all these reservations. They should manage this better in the future to prevent something like this from happening again. Anyways, the bartender's service overall was fantastic! She did a wonderful job. If I remembered your name I would rate you 5 stars alone! Thanks for turning our down turning night to an uplifting one! The food overall was ehhhhhh, can't find the words to describe... We only liked one dish out of all the meals we ordered, the pasta with seafood. It was delicious! But for the amount you spend on a meal, unfortunately not worth it. This venue is phenomenal. We hosted our son's Christening and we had an amazing time. Nicole was the event coordinator and she made sure everything was as I requested. They also made a beautiful cafe at their own bakery for 40 people . We also had dinner at Rosaria which was outstanding. The Good: Greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. Waiter came over swiftly, took our drink and food order quickly. Food came out quickly, and was cooked perfectly. The size of the starter salad was good. The manager stopped by our table to check in, and was available if we needed him for anything. The ambiance was stellar. The Needs Improvement: They missed a few things. We had to ask for bread and steak knives (at a steakhouse). The temperature of the steaks were cooler than I would have liked. For example, I put a dollop of butter on top, and it didn't melt. That may sound a bit obnoxious... I'm just exemplifying how cool the steak was, if a pad of butter doesn't even melt. We ordered truffle fries, I was expecting julienne style, but they were steak fries. They were severely overcooked. And price. $40+ an entrée, and $9 each side, I have very high expectations for service & quality of food. The staff was very pleasant, but a bit less polished (compared to a Ruth's Chris or Flemings, which charge similar prices). While the steaks were cooked perfectly, I don't understand how they can come out so lukewarm. And the truffle fries were a disappointment. $9 for one potato sliced into six pieces, deep fried and dusted in truffle salt, too much for what it was. Like many posts before, I wish them luck, but with the prices as they are, they really need to step up their game. I'm giving them a generous 3 stars, because the manager clearly cared deeply for the restaurant and guests enjoyment. read more

This restaurant exceeded my expectations. First, the patio is beautiful - featuring a waterfall, wonderful plantings, comfortable seating, and more. The food was great! No complaints at all, seasoned perfectly, huge portions, and plated beautifully. The best part though: Our server Jaime!! She was excellent. None of the guests at my table were left without a drink at any moment, she read us all of the specials, helped me select a dish, knew lots about the history of the restaurant, and had a terrific knowledge of the menu. Beautiful restaurant great decor patio deck is great. Food was great my wife had garlic shrimp flatbread appetizer which was a special & had chicken parm with homemade fusilli she loved it all. I had garlic bread with cheese and lump crab cakes for appetizers both were great note garlic bread wasn't on menu but waiter asked cook & they made it. For my entree I had 16oz New York sirloin steak with Yukon whipped potatoes. Service was great food was great love it here. read more

We attended a family event here today for about 30 people. The food was very good and the service excellent. The staff was very friendly and even assembled small dessert plates and delivered them to the tables of our more elderly members. They facility is beautiful. I tried one of the pasta specials and the ravioli was bland and not cooked correctly. I have to say this is a very nice place. It's beautiful inside and very impressive. I came with a party of four. The drinks at the bar were great, great selection of wines. We ordered appetizers and mine was awesome, eggplant with prosciutto, and cheese. Other's were also great. Main course time, and this was the downfall. My steak was the worst cut of beef I have ever gotten. It was like leather infused with rubber. Inedible. The horseradish/cream sauce was a cold cream, no horseradish. I sent it back and they did take it off bill. I tasted the other's dishes and they were good. I must have been just unlucky. Deserts were so-so, not very impressive. One other thing that was annoying was the live music they had going in the bar. The woman singing was horrible (a large white woman trying to sing like an African-American), and it just ruined the evening in the dining room. The noise filtered over into the dining area, and you had to almost scream to talk to one another. I will come back and try this again, and give them another shot. read more

I really wanted to like this place - Pace's is such a great place and I hope the owner does well with this endeavor. But so many things missed the mark during our visit. It was a really nice night so we wanted to sit outside. Their patio is gorgeous and has a lovely view but within 5 minutes of sitting we were swarmed by 10-15 mosquitos. At about the same time we realized that the huge patio had zero heating lamps. We were graciously seated inside to avoid being eaten alive. Three other groups followed suit in being reseated. The food overall was fine. We places our appetizers first and about a half hour later they arrived. I had ordered soup - it arrived lukewarm, had it been hot it likely would have been good. I had their salmon filet which was good. My husbands pasta dish was delicious. However, after the appetizers it was one hour before our main entrees arrived. Maybe if the place was busy I could understand, but we were one of 5 tables in the entire place. This is unacceptable. So, in summary, food is fine but expect a long, long meal. read more

I used to live in this area a while ago. Imagine my surprise when I tried to swing by the hilltop steakhouse for lunch. It had been demolished. Oh well, I was never good at maintaining long distance relationships. I broke out my trusty yelp. I discovered this place about a mile away. I came in on a slow Thursday for lunch. The restaurant is very well decorated. Lots of dark wood. Very upscale vibe. The lunch menu was pretty limited. I wanted a steak so I ordered off the dinner menu. Wedge salad was delicious. It looked a little weak when it first came out but it had just the right amount of blue cheese, oil and pancetta. It was great. I had the center cut filet ordered medium. It came out at just the right time very hot. It was perfectly cooked. I don't think they do anything to the steaks. It was naked. I love that. All a steak needs is a little salt and pepper. Rosaria Restaurant Saugus I found this restaurant as it sits on the second floor of the building that houses J. Pace & Sons (one of my favorite butchers). Joe Pace decided to open a steak place on the second floor of the building he built for his market. When we arrived for our 6:30 reservation there was plenty of parking. Once we went inside there was a grand staircase of beautiful Italian marble that led us to the second floor. There is an elevator for those who choose not to take the stairs. We were greeted by the hostess and taken to our table. We were offered a cozy booth that would have seated four very comfortably. Our waitress come and greeted us warmly and asked us of we wanted tap water or us if we wanted bottled. We told her tap water with lemon. When she brought the lemon she asked us if we had any questions. I told her we had a Groupon. She became very animated and informed us that many people had them and it was a great deal! She explained we each had a choice of any salad, any entrée up to a 39. value and any desert. If we wanted an entrée that cost more than 39. We would pay the difference and there were only three steaks that the increase applied to. We were brought a basket of warn bread nice and soft on the inside and crunchy outside served with an olive oil infused with garlic, and a bunch of other stuff! It was delish! We both ordered Caesar Salad, Lori ordered the Salmon filet that came with Leek mashed potato's and grilled peppers with a citron sauce. I ordered the grilled sirloin and a side baked potato. The salads came out in a reasonable time, the dressing was a nice creamy Caesar dressing, but I would recommending them to go light on the dressing. The salad was served with four small fried ricotta balls instead of croutons. They were tasty, but I prefer a nice crouton! There was no rushing between courses and the time was just right to allow you to enjoy the room and the surroundings. Our entrées came out together. Lori was presented with her plate and it looked delicious, a large portion of salmon lying on a nice portion of leak mashed potatoes with multi colored Julianne peppers on top. The citron sauce was served on the side at Lori's request. She was not a fan. My steak was presented and was cooked to perfection medium rare. I was offered butter, sour cream, chives, and or bacon bits for my baked potato. For those of you who know me I am kind of a steak snob! This two-inch thick Prime sirloin steak was not only cooked to the correct temperature, it was seasoned perfectly and was as tender as any steak I have eaten! Desert changes daily and today they offered cannoli, tiramisu, bread pudding, chocolate mousse, or gelato. I went for the cannoli; Lori went for the cannoli to go! I am glad she took them to go because I was served two large cannolis. They were delish! And now I have desert tomorrow too!! We ordered coffee and our waitress asked if we minded waiting a few extra minutes so she could brew a fresh pot for us! WOW, I was impressed! I definitely recommend Rosario, but make reservations especially for the weekend. I called last Friday for last Saturday and they were full, so I made tonight's reservation! Also, check Groupon to see if they still have the deal available as they are a pricy place, but you are getting what you pay for. One last item to mention, they have a large patio outside their dining room and have outside dining when the weather gets warm! They also have a very large bar for those that like to have a cocktail!
