On my visits, I had Sam Adams Juicy IPAs with a really good beef stew. Another time, I went with a Maine Lunch and corned beef and cabbage over St. Patrick's weekend. My companion had a chicken wrap and a couple of glasses of Chardonnay on one visit, and the Irish stew with more Chardonnay on another. The menu is strong and covers all the classic pub options well. I have posted photos of it. Inside has that classic Irish pub feel. Cozy, a little tight when it gets busy, but that is part of the charm. It tends to draw a crowd, which is always a good sign. Service was decent. Maybe not the fastest, but always friendly and courteous, which matters more in a place like this. Overall, this is a reliable local spot with good food, solid drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. I am writing this after just a couple of visits, but I am sure I will be back. Two thumbs up. You'd be surprised how many times we heard, "We cannot plan a party on this small a budget." Well okay then! But the folks at BG were wonderful-- so accommodating, so friendly, and genuinely excited about working with us. The tasting was an experience. We walked in to find our names printed on a little welcome card in the lobby, and the table set for what turned out to be a really cozy and fun lunch with Michele and Caitlin. We were offered wine, chatted as the food was served, heard a little bit about each dish as it came out, and were sent away with packed up leftovers to share with the rest of the office. That was what sealed the deal, honestly-- we left their office confident in their ability to produce an event that felt like we wanted it to feel, and since we already knew they could stay within our budget, we were sold. Leading up to the event, I couldn't have been happier. It was my first time being in charge of an entire event for my company, and Michele was always available to answer my questions, promptly and with good humor. She made recommendations, always with an eye to matching style with budget consciousness, and even up to the day before the party was proactive about checking in to make sure every detail was seen to. The party itself (held at the Charles River Museum of Industry in Waltham) went off without a hitch-- our Executive Director used the word "perfect" more than once-- and once the cocktail hour started I was even able to relax and enjoy myself, knowing we were in good hands. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience working with BG, and recommend them without reservation.
