    Wagyu Dumplings

The food was outstanding and the service was top notch. We tried the goat cheese salad, calamari, lobster tacos and wagyu dumplings. We came for lunch but it was a holiday weekend so they were only serving the dinner menu. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the calamari. It was very good quality calamari but it was on the sweeter side for our personal taste.

Really fun and entertaining dinner experience night out at Post 1917 in Reading AKA Jason Carron. Great for date nights. Atmosphere/Decor: Really interesting and unique interior formerly a Post Office (hence the name) with exposed brick, a tall windows, and a very long three-sided bar that makes up most of the restaurant. Very happening and social scene. Most folks dressed business casual and to impress. Lots of birthdays, regulars, and lookers. Big glam meets classic steakhouse hybrid vibes. We sat at a booth behind the bar and were initially concerned about placement but glad for the happening scene afterwards. The legroom was fairly tight for the taller folks. The booth was a little tight with space for all our food and drinks (e.g., four people, four cocktails, four waters, three appetizers was tight). Service: Very attentive. We had great servers, very attentive, fun, offered helpful insights and thoughts, and took great care of us ala traditional steakhouse norms. No delays. No complaints. Food: We really enjoyed our meal. The appetizers were fun. The restaurant is gluten free in homage to one of the owners(?) kids who's found it hard to eat out. You probably wouldn't notice that it's gluten free, as whatever almond/corn/rice flour they're using closely mimics mouth feel and taste. We were a little surprised the lamb app was (gluten-free) breaded but very moist and flavorful. Our steaks were all very good. I had the ribeye and it was a nice cut, aged (23-30 days?), and cooked exactly as desired. Cauliflower was decent and voluminous but not amazing. Wedge decent. Filets good. The chicken parm sounded very intriguing -- different than the usual fare and apparently one of their most popular dishes and huge but we will save it for next time. Fun desert options. Drinks: Great dirty martini. Fun cocktails for the table -- some great some just good. All boozy. The Whistle Pig tasting desert option was a a great value even if just for the 12 year XII at that price. They have a few rare allocated bourbons and whiskeys. Price: A much better deal than Boston steakhouses in general. This would have been twice the price if downtown there, and they're clearly enticing folks to make the drive. I think it's well worth it.

A rare find in the suburbs, located in Reading and in a beautiful renovated former post office building. The ambiance is... well... amazing. Comfortable booths with flora everywhere and where the owners greet you at the door to escort you to your table. Appetizers and drinks to start. Great wine selection. This is for sure a steak place and aged beef and preparation are well worth the price. Fabulous dessert selection and delicious steaks. Business casual is the dress code and parking lot is next door. The owners clearly went full scale on the exquisite appointments and the staff is there to please you in every way!! No need to go into Boston for a great restaurant! Bon Appetite!!

I want to clarify on my last review. The waiter misinformed us last time that the chicken parm was cooked in the deep fryer. The chicken parm is pan fried, all the time. Thank you to the manager for specifying this. We love this place!

Post 1917 Steakhouse Review 136 Haven St, Reading, MA 01867 Nestled in a beautifully restored old post office in Reading, Post 1917 Steakhouse is a culinary gem brought to life by the visionary **Jason Carron. The Mains - **Chicken Parmesan**: The largest, juiciest chicken parm you'll ever see, topped with a sweet, flavorful tomato sauce--no pasta needed. Simple yet perfect. **10/10** - **Pan-Seared Scallops**: Paired with a velvety mushroom risotto and a bold coffee reduction, these six perfectly cooked scallops were well worth the $49 price tag. **10/10** - **Bone-In Ribeye**: Cooked to medium-rare perfection and complemented by a sauce flight featuring rosemary, blue cheese, demi-glace, marrow butter, and more. The demi-glace was a standout! **10/10** Pro tip: The sauce flight is a must especially if you are sharing with friends (I know its an extra $18 but just trust me). Starters to Share - **Lamb Lollipops**: Tender, juicy, and paired with roasted cashews and a refreshing mint glaze. Only complaint? Needed more mint glaze! **9/10** - **Crab Cakes**: These were packed with flavor, and the accompanying lobster sauce was so good I wanted to take it home! **10/10** Desserts - The chocolate cake was rich and decadent, while the snickerdoodle cake with ice cream** was a nostalgic yet elevated treat to end the meal. **10/10** From the warm ambiance to the masterfully executed dishes, every bite at Post 1917 feels like a celebration of culinary artistry. While the prices reflect its upscale nature, this is the perfect spot for a special night out on the North Shore. Food: 10/10 Ambiance: 9/10 Affordability: 3/10 (but worth it for a special occasion!)

I've been here a couple of times and it's a wonderful restaurant. Beautiful space, very well decorated, feels very high end with being comfortable at the same time. There is a dining room and large bar area so plenty of seating options. I've always had a reservation here, but they do take walk-ins as well. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The highlights here are definitely the cocktails, steaks, and desserts. Cocktails are creative and well balanced, comparable if not better to ones I've had in Boston high end restaurants. Steaks are always perfectly cooked and I love to add on a sauce or butter which really enhances the steak. We had the key lime tart at our last visit and it was absolutely heavenly: light, sweet, buttery, with the perfect amount of lime. The misses are some appetizers and sides. The wagyu beef dumplings were ok but did not seem like a steak house appetizer, they were somewhat dry and one dimensional. I did enjoy the wedge salad, would definitely get again. I've had a few sides here, the corn is excellent, Brussels sprouts were ok, and the mashed potatoes were a little under-seasoned and cold. I will definitely be back though, the overall experience is amazing, great date night spot!

Interior is very exquisite and it is a very nice location that used to be a post office. I enjoyed the scallops but everything else was just above average. The shrimp cocktail only had four shrimp and they were a bit tough. Service was great and I had a good time.

Tonight I dined at this restaurant for the first time. Everything was outstanding! The service was spectacular, I had Abby as my waitress. (She reminded me of Topanga from boy meets world)! I had the crab cakes along with the cod & key lime pie for dessert. They have an in house pastry chef who prepares all of the desserts. My favorite part of the experience is the aesthetic. The restaurant is stunning, it is very well decorated and very clean. There are little touches through out that make the experience feel elevated. I will definitely be visiting again.

We went last night for an early Father's Day celebration. As most others have said, it is extremely loud and not easy to have conversations without yelling. The space is very cool though! Everyone in the party got a cocktail and enjoyed them. My husband and I got the clam chowder to start and it was very good. I got the chicken parm (pregnant and can only eat well done steak, no thanks) and it was a massive piece! Little disappointed it didn't come with pasta. Everyone else got some form of steak. My husband's was severely overcooked. He ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. Not a lot of flavor with it either. The mashed potatoes were flavorless, but creamy. The gluten free Mac and cheese was the best my sister in law has had! For the asparagus, we ordered for the five of us and there were only 6 pieces. For $12 that seems a little insane. For dessert, we ordered the cannoli zeppoles. Not sure what made them cannoli like, but we weren't really fans. We also got the gluten free chocolate mousse cake and everyone seemed to enjoy that. The service was friendly. We would definitely come for cocktails.

My wife, brother and I went to Post 1917 on a Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. Service - The hostess was extremely pleasant and greeted us with a warm smile. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. I ordered a New York strip and my wife and brother ordered filet mignons. Our food came out within 15 minutes. Food - My steak was cooked exactly as I ordered - medium rare. The outside of the steak was perfectly crisped and the inside a juicy hot pink. I've eaten steaks at all of the top steakhouses in Boston and the north shore and would put Post 1917 up against any of them. The steak needed no condiments or sauces. It stood on its own and was so satisfying. Atmosphere - the owners did a great job paying careful attention to the style and design of the restaurant. The lighting really set the mood for a wonderful dining experience. I would describe the vibe as elegant and warm. We will definitely be back soon!

    The "Lone Bone" 32oz
    James D.

The "Lone Bone" with the assortment of sauces was pristine! One of the best steaks I've had in the Greater Boston area Service/staff was attentive, observant, & the sommelier was on point with the suggested wine/cocktails. The unique cocktail list pairs great with the classic steakhouse menu items to choose from. 10/10 experience! 10/10 atmosphere to go along with impeccable décor.

The quality of service, food, drinks, atmosphere were all very good. Turnover here is also very good, as there was no wait for an almost-full restaurant at 7pm on a Friday evening. Drinks were flavorful, but strength seemed a bit inconsistent. My Patriot's Pour, a bourbon drink, seemed a wee bit stronger both in flavor and perceived alcohol than the martinis we were served. The ice cube with the restaurant's name in it was a nice touch. Our dinners all came out at the same time and were, as mentioned, enjoyable. I did notice that the counter in front of the kitchen, where dishes are placed waiting for pickup, seemed to have more plates on it than the could be under the heat lamps. Hopefully folks' dinners weren't inconsistent in temperature. My Thai salmon was done the way I like it, firm and crispy. Parking outside is ample as well, there were several spaces free near the entrance at any time. They do a good job all-around here.

The salad arrived split on two separate plates which was a nice touch, and the sweet mustardy dressing balanced the bitterness of the kale and brussels - only comment is it was bit overdressed. The mushroom ravioli was tasty and had a good filling to wrapper ratio with a solid amount of cream sauce. The pulled pork mac was on the sweeter side and also had a lot of sauces - the bechamel, sweet bbq sauce and ranch. It was a touch too many sauces for us. Portions were a good size, a bit larger than expected. Service was attentive and fast, and the space is clean and comfortable, but could use a bit of an update, the upholstery on our booth was noticeably worn down. Overall a good meal, just note dishes tend to be heavier on sauces / dressings - we'll request to go lite on sauces next time.

I don't typically eat veal, and this cutlet was perfectly balanced - rich, savory, crispy, with a pleasant (but not overwhelming) salty kick from the prosciutto and parmigiano reggiano. We also ordered the spicy broccolini, which I highly recommend for the garlic lovers out there. For dessert we had the dark cherry (amarena?) gelato, which was delicious and creamy, with the perfect amount of sweetness. We shared each dish, and it was certainly plenty of food for the two of us. Prices felt reasonable for the amount and quality of what we ordered (all of the above + 2 drinks from the bar totaled approx. $160 pre-tip). The restaurant space itself is relatively small but has enough space to move around comfortably, which made it cozy without ever getting too loud (it was a pretty full house when we went), with a balanced dim lighting. Additionally, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the server patiently walked us through the menu and shared suggestions at our request. On a personal note I am especially appreciative of the staff, as I accidentally left without my hat, and the restaurant responded almost immediately to the message I sent through the restaurant website that same evening. Tl;dr - great menu, rich & hearty but balanced ingredients/recipes, and comfortable vibe. The Burrata is a very good dish with cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic oil, aged balsamic, and grilled ciabatta. Even knowing burrata is an expensive ingredient, the price feels high for what you get. One of my go‑to entrées is the Rigatoni alla Bolognese, which is consistently satisfying whether ordered traditional or oven baked with fresh ricotta. One thing regulars will notice is that Sogno tends to rotate many fan favorites off the menu. Servers openly acknowledge that guests ask for certain dishes to return, but they also explain that the chef and owner decide what stays and what goes. It can be frustrating when a great dish disappears without warning. Another thing worth mentioning: Sogno often features live music. If that is not your thing, make sure to request a table as far away from the performance area as possible because the sound carries and can make conversation difficult. Lastly, although the owner also owns the building, he has a habit of parking his four‑door Mercedes wherever he wants rather than in an actual parking spot. It comes across as pretentious and unnecessary. If I were to park where he does, I am sure I would be towed. Sogno has a lot going for it: strong food, a fun atmosphere, and a polished dining room, however; a few quirks are worth knowing before you go.

The food was nothing short of exceptional. Both simple and deeply nuanced, every dish I tried offered a fresh, elevated take on a familiar favorite. Each bite was packed with flavor, making for a truly memorable dining experience. The shrimp tacos, for instance, were a seafood lover's dream--perfectly grilled shrimp paired with crisp, fresh vegetables and a creamy taco sauce, all wrapped in warm tortillas filled to the brim. As for the mozza balls, they were a revelation. Hot and crispy on the outside, generously dusted with fresh Parmesan, and bursting with rich, creamy mozzarella inside. The crust was so perfectly crunchy that even Sonic's legendary mozzarella sticks would have some serious competition. These golden bites of cheesy perfection were nothing short of divine. The fried shrimp were enormous and cooked to absolute perfection, encased in a flavorful, perfectly crispy batter. They were incredible on their own--so much so that the accompanying dipping sauce, while a nice touch, was completely unnecessary. The bruschetta was warm and fluffy, topped with juicy, perfectly ripened tomatoes and a generous handful of fresh, peppery arugula, all drizzled with rich, warm olive oil. There was plenty to share--but it was so good, you wouldn't want to. The food was so insanely good that I was kraving more before I even made it home--seriously, I considered turning the car around halfway just for another bite. The service was top-notch from the moment we sat down. Our server greeted us before we even had our chairs pulled out, welcomed us to Krave, handed us menus, and took our drink orders right away. She was back quickly with full glasses and a friendly smile. When we ordered appetizers, she kept us updated on their progress, making sure we never had to wonder when they'd arrive. Attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming--it doesn't get much better than that. She kept that same level of service throughout our entire visit--never missing a beat. Our glasses stayed full, our table stayed clear, and we never had to ask for a thing. This was the kind of service that makes you want to tip extra extra. The ambiance was perfect--Krave has the chill vibe down to a science. Relaxed atmosphere, great lighting, comfy seating, and just the right level of background noise to keep things lively without being overwhelming. If my kids hadn't been with me, I could've easily made myself at home at the bar for the afternoon. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. I usually try to visit a new restaurant every time I go out, just to keep things interesting. But Krave might have just messed up that plan--it's definitely earned a spot on my list of go-to places.
