Four of us had a fantastic meal. Comfy space. Great menu but we also appreciated the specials and the 3 course meal options for $39- soup or salad, entree, dessert and a glass of wine or soda. This option made it easy to narrow down choices. Serving sizes were a good value- just right, not overly huge. No leftovers. We also enjoyed complimentary limoncello shots after our meals. Amazing little place! We had a rare night out and thought to give Sam's Kitchen a try. Going on a Wednesday, it wasn't too crowded but we were by no means the only ones. You know it's going to be good when it's busy mid-week. I had the short ribs and gnocchi, my husband has the ricotta gnocchi. Both were excellent. Mine was so good I honestly didn't want it to end. It paired nicely with the red sangria, too. We will absolutely be back - if their other dishes are as good as what we were treated to this time, I can't wait to try more! read more

M-Th they offer a $35 prix fixe meal which includes soup or salad, multiple choices for the entree (I had bolognese which was delicious, my wife had chicken piccata), dessert (we had cannolis with chocolate chips) and a glass of house wine (you can substitute a beer or soda in lieu of wine). So pleasantly surprised by Sam's kitchen restaurant in Woburn. They offer both a six and 9 ounce pour for your wine. I don't see that very often, and it's nice to not have to order a second glass when all you want is just a larger glass of wine lol. Hubby had a Peroni beer, and we both had chicken and veal Parm respectively. It was really good and I really liked the pasta as well. The staff was very attentive, but not overly so. I hate when they get you in the middle of the meal with your mouthful and ask questions lol. And she didn't do that and I like that. We will definitely definitely be back. The only downside? if you are people of size like we are, two tables can be a little tight. We asked for a table that normally seats so we could eat comfortably, the woman who sat seemed a little annoyed at the request, but was luckily able to accommodate. My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner because I heard good things, and it didn't disappoint. We started off with the appetizer special for the night: a fried burrata, fig and prosciutto salad. It was fantastic. I got the night's special for my entree: a veal chop with pasta carbonara and broccoli rabe. I lived in the North End years ago and have had my fair share of great veal chops. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best veal chop I've ever had. The carbonara was cooked perfectly as well. You can tell they make their own pasta and put a lot of focus on quality. My wife got the chicken saltimbocca. I had a bite of it and it was delicious. For dessert we split a cheesecake with house-made strawberry sauce, and we each got cappuccinos. It was a perfect way to cap off a great dinner. Also, since it was our anniversary, they gave us the dessert for free. I can't recommend this place enough, and look forward to going back to trying more of what they have to offer. read more

Sam's Kitchen just outside of Boston is worth a visit. It reminded me of some great Italian you find on the Northside of Town. My short rib gnocchi was loaded with meat and had a hearty sauce while the gnocchi was quite tender. In short the dish was excellent. Staff were friendly and kept my table well serviced. Lucked into this place restaurant and very happy we did. I was looking for a place where I could meet my son for dinner and Woburn was halfway for both of us. We parked and spotted Sam's soon after, looked inviting and comfortable so we went in. We were greeted at the door and were immediately seated with drinks and menus. The inside is nicely lit, and warm. Our waiter was attentive and took the time to walk us through the menu and the specials. The food was even better, we started with the mussels in the white wine sauce which I highly recommend! My son had a chicken saltimbocca which he loved and I ordered the special, a bone in veal chop and mushroom sauce with broccoli rabe and risotto which was superb. The experience was fantastic, and the bill was really reasonable. Really a great place and a memorable evening. Located on Main Street in Woburn, MA Sam's is a small, cozy restaurant with nice ambiance and friendly service. We started out with the calamari appetizer. You never know what you'll get when ordering calamari. This one was lightly battered, very tender and enough for two to share. My girlfriend and I both love short ribs and decided to try their boneless short rib dish. Served in a red wine sauce with ricotta gnocchi it was superb. Sam, the owner is also the head chef and oversees all the food preparation. Sam takes great pride in the food he serves to his customers and it shows. We highly recommend giving Sam's Kitchen a try. Amazing authentic Italian food! The gnocchi and pasta were homemade in both our dishes. The service was great and the desserts were delightful! I got the braised short rib with mushrooms and spinach in a red wine sauce over some homemade gnocchi. The meat was tender and flavorful and worked so nicely with the sauce. The star of the dish was the gnocchi which was freshly made. They were pillowy soft and creamy. A perfect dish through and through. My girlfriend got the chicken parm over pasta. They nailed this simple dish to perfection. The Marinara sauce was deep in flavor and perfectly balanced. The chicken cutlet was beautifully lightly fried. Not too oily or crunchy, very authentic. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente! Everything else was fantastic too. I had a great glass of chianti wine with my meal which was an excellent bottle. The tiramisu is a must get for dessert! Sam's kitchen is so cute. I had a party of three and we weren't sat immediately. It's definitely a common date night place in Woburn or even family dinner place. My coworkers and I got the arancini and bruschetta for apps. The aracini was good but the bruschetta definitely wasn't the normal. They just a loaf of bread in half and put cheese,tomato and basil on it. I'm use to toasted bread with fresh tomato basil balsamic vinegar and maybe salt and pepper. Not fully a 5 but pretty close on flavor alone. Really liked this restaurant. More limited selections I think creating more value in each dish they created. The waiter recommended the Bolognese sauce pasta and I was so happy about it because he mentioned how creamy it was. It was really nice spin on what I'm used to. Since MA state law does not permit a restaurant with a liquor license to allow BYOB, we've appear to have lost Sam's as a nice BYOB venue. Pity as we had some excellent wine dinners there over the years. read more

Food: Absolutely amazing! A chef definitely designed this menu. This time my table got the seafood special (a mix of scallops, lobster, and shrimp mixed with veggies and stuffed pasta), the veal special (veal with mushroom risotto), calamari, and tiramisu. The calamari was pretty standard and delicious. The veal was nice and tender. The mushroom sauce and the risotto completed each other perfectly. I'm not big on seafood but even I loved the seafood special. None of the flavors were overwhelming. Instead the various seafood flavors were balanced with a delicious cream sauce. Once again the dessert was a bit of a let down because it was ordinary in comparison to an excellent meal. There was so much cocoa dumped on top that I inhaled and choked on it. It was mostly cream and had very little espresso to balance it out. Service: This is the weakest aspect of this restaurant. The first time I went here I gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt because the waitress seemed new. Now I know the wait staff is way to lax. I had dinner early and my table was the only party in the restaurant (there was also only 1 take out order during that time). The waitress brought drinks and then hung out by the bar chatting for the next 45min until our food was ready. I get that she can't make the food be ready any faster but she never refilled drinks, asked if we wanted more bread, or even told us that it was going to be a while before the food was ready. I had previously given this restaurant 5 stars but after another meal with great food but bad service I had to adjust down to 4 stars. I hope that the wait staff gets a bit more training so I can raise my rating back up to 5 because the food is truly excellent. Ambience: This restaurant moved about a year ago to a slightly larger place. The added space was much needed. I'm sure they will add more tables in once COVID restrictions relax but for now this place is spacious yet cozy. read more

This is my first time at Sam's Kitchen and I had a great experience. We had a group of 6 people and made reservations ahead of time, of which I think was the right move. The restaurant was near empty when we arrived, but it filled up right after we placed our order so it is definitely a popular place. Vibe: Sam's has a warm feel that is hard to describe but you will know it when you are there. The signs on the wall and corks in the large jars were nice touches too. I am not sure why there were plastic drapes that I had to walk through at the entrance, but I am guessing it is because we are technically still in a pandemic, and it is winter in Boston. It did not change my opinion about the ambiance, though. I just thought it was strange. The staff was pleasant and accommodating so it made the experience even better. Food: Arancini: The riceballs and cheese melt in your mouth! This was my first time eating this item and it did not disappoint. Frutti di Mare: I had this dish at other places before so it was easier to make the comparison. There are places that make this right, and Sam's Kitchen is one of them. The mussels were cooked well and did not have a strong smell. The red sauce was on point and did not overwhelm the pasta. Some places just oversauce their dish for some reason. Lobster Ravioli: I can taste the lobster in the ravioli! Yeah, that sounds silly but some places can be stingy with it. The cheese and sauce were balanced and the ravioli was slightly firm, just the way I like it. Tiramisu: This was just delicious! The coffee and cream flavors mixed well and I could not make out the ladyfinger, which is a good thing. FYI - You can bring your own wine! I do not think there is a cork fee, and that is just awesome in my book. I recommend giving Sam's Kitchen a shot if you are a visitor in the area like me, or if you are a native who just wants good Italian food. Do not forget to call ahead to reserve a table because it seems like it is packed every night. read more
