    Apples to Apples

Met some retired teacher colleagues for dinner. I enjoyed an Apples to Apples cocktail and joked it should be served hot! We enjoyed loaded tater tots, pretzel with mustards and nachos platter. Everything was great, but the pretzel was a bit too crispy. A softer bite would have been better. We were famished, so no pics! Heather was an awesome server who filled many roles at this pub. The popular favorite entree of the group was the chicken pot pie & Shepherd's Pie. My Gloucester Reuben (think fish version of a corned beef Rachel) was okay--It needed a bit more Thousand Island dressing. If I'm being honest, order from the appetizer side. I would go back to try the burgers, but this is a better bar than restaurant.

Good burgers! I ordered the avocado burger with fries and it hit the spot. Not a ton of space inside and they don't take reservations less than 6 as a FYI. We came on a Friday night and walked around Downtown after putting our names on the wait list. Friendly staff and overall good experience!

Clam chowder was A+ along with their flatbread cheese pizza. Place always has great service and awesome food

9/24/2019 - My burger I added caramelized onions, avocado + bacon and tots.

This spot id pretty solid with awesome food and pretty stellar service. My friend and I needed burgers and she needed a martini - because she's a mom and that would also drive me to drink.... I needed a burger and avocado. They had a burger with caramelized onions, avocado and bacon - it was freaking delicious and came with TOTS!!! Like any bar - later at night you get the annoying loudmouth or too and the service starts going downhill...

Ode To The Garlic Steak Sandwich Sometimes it's good to give a place another try before writing a critical review. Impressions from the first visit were: loud, crowded and the food was not memorable. Almost didn't come back but I'm glad I did. This time it was loud and crowded but it felt like a warm and friendly local pub. At the time of our arrival the place was mobbed and boisterous again but on this with Friday night it made for a fun evening. While it looked like we'd have a long wait, a table was available quickly and we continued to enjoy the bar area. My meal was an incredible surprise. The garlic steak sandwich was phenomenal- literally the best steak sandwich I've ever had. Not shaved steak but succulent and tender steak tips- that were just delicious and melted in my mouth. I don't know if I'll ever be able to order something else at this place. The grilled chicken sandwich also was well received (but not an ATF like the garlic steak sandwich). FHP has a quality selection of draft beers featuring many of the outstanding local micro-brews. I enjoyed a 4-5oz pour sampler for $9 that included some great local IPA's. Service was friendly and prompt an accomplishment given how busy the place was. A little sound deadening would be a welcome addition here, but please don't change that garlic steak sandwich!

Here's what they consider Cajun rub. They're actually plain wings!

Town pub with fine food, ok beer selection, slow service. Prefer the sister pub in Arlington for their wings.

Great place for hungry folk. Nice beer list. Sit outside if it's warm and people watch.

What a nice find! This is a friendly funky neighborhoodish pub that serves up some pretty good food…read moreand drink at pretty good prices. I've been in a couple times in the past months. I had a steak tip salad that, I have to say, was absolutely heavenly. The steak tips were cooked as ordered. Deliciously marinated, buttery tender and nicely seared over a most excellent salad. What makes a salad "most excellent?" you might ask. Well, I'll tell you. It was dressed perfectly. Just the right amount of a flavorful house dressing. Neither dry nor sopping. The generous portions of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, feta cheese, and more were all in a perfect proportion to one another, chopped small enough to render a knife unnecessary, except for the steak tips. Last time in, I chose the Fusilli Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork. Not only was this extremely good, it was extremely large. It provided dinner for me for two nights. There seem to be a lot of regulars here, at least in the Mondays I've been in. And the place is hopping busy. The music is good. Maybe a little loud, but, hey, I'm old. They're a jovial and friendly lot. And, Becca, the bartender, is super chill. She's friendly, attentive and she mixes a good drink and pulls a good draft. I can see myself becoming a regular!

We had an unexpected trip to the area that morning to visit a local store…read more When we were done, we noticed it was just about lunch time and decided to find a place to eat. There were many options to choose from but we do like to try places that are not always traditional. Hoping for a local favorite. Right on the corner, it is easy to find and with street parking easy to get to and enjoy a good meal and probably a late night gathering with friends. Rustic looking, it definitely put off the vibe of the local establishment for Arlington. We were the first customers that early afternoon. They were literally unlocking the doors when we arrived. The menu offered enough options to satisfy our dietary and personal preferences. Meats, chicken, fish and veggie options. You can find something. Staff was very friendly and attentive, but we were the only guest that early in the day. The crowd did pick up as we ate our meal. Large windows allowed you to sit and people watch on, what I would imagine is the Main Street for the town. It was Sunday so a little quiet so not a lot people watching today. Food was great and the presentation was a lot more than expected for a tavern. Full bar options and a good list of local craft beers. I love trying local beers when possible. A lot of space for seating during the day and I can only imagine the evening bar scene. Based on the number of people who did walk in while we were there to recover their credit card from the night before. Sounds weird but it totally gave off the local vibe. Love it. Very clean and tidy for a Tavern. Respectful place. Plenty of TVs to watch your favorite game so I enjoyed a chance to see one of the Sweet 16 games that day. So, if you are in town, give Town Tavern a visit.
