Really nice place, looks like a traditional Irish pub. The Smithwick's beer was spot on. The fish and chips were really nicely fried; the fish was a haddock that was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, with a nice bit of exterior crisp in addition. The slaw was nicely vinegary and flavorful, the chips quite decent. The Shepherd's pie was a tad salty but presented in a disciplined, nicely layered way, with a mix of the mash, ground beef, and peas. The flavoring was rich, yet subtle. read more

Came back to have the potato and leek soup and fish and chips. Fish and chips was served with a big piece of fresh haddock and it was pretty good. I also got a side of curry sauce for the chips and that was a good move. Service was a bit slow, it seemed like there was only one server. They forgot our waters and when the food arrived they forgot to give us cutlery and napkins, so we flagged them down a couple times. It was very dark inside, but the festive decor added some light and pops of color. The space was pretty full and it got a touch noisy but we were still able to have a decent conversation. First time visiting this establishment and I ordered the Fish & Chips, believe it or not this was only the second time I've had fish & chips, this dish was beyond delicious, The Fish ( Haddock) was so flavorful & didn't need a knife to cut the fish just melts in your mouth all around very good meal, I would definitely recommend this restaurant, the only minor setback was parking, they do have parking in back of square, I'll definitely be returning again read more

I wanted to try this place a second time before writing a review and I'm glad I did. First and foremost, this feels like an authentic Irish bar and is in fact a local neighborhood bar. Nice seating at the bar as well as high tops and regular tables as well as a patio out back. It's mostly hard seating with little acoustic treatment so it's a bit loud. But it's a friendly local bar with a very interesting menu. Despite my ancestry, I'm not the biggest fan of Irish food, but there was plenty on this menu that caught my interest. I went with the Reuben sandwich which I haven't had in a while and it was great. The other dish was Sausage Rolls, Irish sausage and a puff pastry nicely seasoned. This was really flavorful and filling. The service was prompt and friendly. The beer menu was quite nicely varied. The wine selection limited. All in all very satisfied with Mrs. Murphy's. read more

Welcome to Medford Square and cannot wait to be back to try the food. The space was fairly dim not to make one out of place and neither makes one take out the phone torch for everything. The decor is cozy and loved the ambiance. 5 stars for the prompt service on an opening night which was super busy. I did not expect to have a host or find spot to be seated but the main guy behind the bar was super fast and attended all. Definitely want the "Not my Nana's tea" next time to try. The Tipperary was interesting and closer to a fruity old fashioned and the curry fries were hot and nice. Hope the service remains as good as today and we all can say : Job well done. read more

We visited on Saturday @5pm St. Patrick's day weekend. The place was packed! We were committed to wait for a table, so we grabbed a drink from the bar. Once seated, the service was amazing ,friendly and efficient. For starters the Eileen's Feta Dip was so tasty. Our entrees were the Veggie Shepherds Pie and a Reuben with fries. Both were Absolutely delicious and exactly what we're craving. They have an impressive cocktail, beer, bourbon and whiskey menu. Super inviting atmosphere, live music was a nice bonus. Absolute treat of a pub ahead of High Kings concert across the road. Guinness poured proper, cocktails decent, and our fish n chips, Shepard's pie, and sausage rolls hit the spot. Will be back for the Reuben and all day breakfast. Great live music and despite being packed to the brim st pattys weekend we secured a table for two that came with attentive friendly quick service. Mac and cheese is on point. Shepard's pie is fire. But the fish and chips are literally the best I've ever had, in the US or Ireland (or England for that matter.) Add to that - you can get a fantastic pint of Guinness and they have Irish sessions all week long. As someone who's lived in both Ireland and the States, this is now my little slice of Irish heaven. Disappointed in my visit to Mrs Murphys Pub. After seeing it on Phantom Gourmet, I was eager to go there. My wife and I were seeing a live show on a Sunday night so we went to MMP for dinner. There appeared to be only ONE server for the whole restaurant area. He never brought the water we requested along with our drinks. The Guinness was good but the food wasn't up to par. The shepherds pie was watery. The Reuben sandwich was just good enough. I never had Guinness cake dessert before so I don't know if it was supposed to be sooooo DRY. My new fav pub in the Medford area. Limited seating but def a typical pub feel. I did not visit the patio so seating may not be a big concern. The live duet was amazing- talented kids doing great work. Service was excellent...A+ late night food...fish and chips, fish...unreal light and flakey. Best I've had in Boston. The shepherds pie could use a twist, maybe more gravy and broiled top but hard to mess this up so I'm not complaining (kind of regret not getting the steak and ale though). This place was busy at 8 PM on a Friday, but not crowded. East enough still to order from the bar and find a spot for a drink or two. Hostess was attentive and friendly. I thought the Irish music was just a recording but actually live, with musicians tucked away in the back. So good! Crowd was a bit older, but chill and friendly. It was like the Burren but smaller, newer, cleaner and less of the young drunkenness. I didn't eat any food, and one negative was that you are hit with the smell of fish and chips when you enter the pub, but otherwise beautiful, well designed and good use of space. Our family of four were promptly welcomed for lunch and immediately brought to an open table. The live Irish music was a nice touch for opening weekend. We will be back to try the appetizers/soups/salads as we focused on a couple pints and the sandwiches for our first visit. Both the kids and adult cheese burgers were spot on with golden brown fries. Excelent food. Great service, except for the bartender. I ordered an Irish Coffee. 8t was delicious with the cream on top. I wanted to stir it and our serve3r was nowhere to be found. So I walked up to the bar and asked for a couple if stirrers. The bartender, female blonde hair, actually refused and told me to ask my server! Really? We went here for lunch on a Monday. Decor was traditional wood-paneled pub with comfortable wooden chairs and bench. Waitress was very busy but also attentive and pleasant demeanor. We both had the fish and chips. One very large piece of tasty, sweet white fish in crisp, light breading, correctly prepared chips, and a light simple cole slaw. Tartar sauce was good, and the fish and chips were also served with malt vinegar and a small cup of ketchup. Guinness is available in half pints. Nothing fancy, but very satisfying in the way that only comfort food correctly prepared can be. Went there with my wife last week and had a great time! I highly recommend the Irish Maid cocktail! It was delicious! My wife wouldn't stop stealing sips from my glass. A HUGE plus is that the kitchen is open late! We got there at 9:30pm and were delighted when we could order a Reuben to split. The sandwich was great. Both slices of bread were crispy which was nice. Usually when I get a Reuben the bottom slice is a bit soggy. The fries that come with it were OK but could be better. The service was good. There was an attentive young man who stopped by our table a few times and I liked his vibe. The ambiance is awesome! The place looks great and there's so many things to look at and enjoy. However, I'm a bit surprised the live music is stuck in the corner by bathrooms and not in the front window, like most places. All in all, we will definitely be back!
