The food here was such a pleasant surprise! We are visiting from out of state where the Asian food (besides sushi) is very subpar. So when we decided to order take out from this place we were half expecting flavorless soggy food since that's what we are used to but didn't give many options since we were ordering late. OMG I've never been happier to be wrong! The pork dumplings were cooked perfectly and had the right amount of seasoning. The vinegar sauce complimented it perfectly and was also seasoned very well. The general gaus chicken was so crispy and the sauce had the perfect balance of sweet and savory with a bit of umami which I think is so difficult to find. Most of the sauces I've had tend to taste artificially sweet with do depth. This chicken surpassed my expectations in every way. I also ordered the pork spare ribs which came in a little to go box. When I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of pork! Normally when I order pork ribs it's usually thinly cut pieces of pork and its usually just two pieces. This was not that! There was so much pork and it wasn't dry but not overly fat. They were perfect. We also got beef terriyaki. These were also very tender but not the highlight. Still had over all good flavor. I'm so happy to find a place that reminded me of how good Asian food from a restaurant could be! I know it's not homemade but it's pretty darn close! Definitely will eat here again! This is a hidden gem. The food was pipping hot. The server was very helpful at recommending a few of their homemade dumplings, and I couldn't have been more pleased with what I received. Now, a few things to consider before going, it is a small place. They serve things on paper plates and plastic forks and spoons, but if the food is good, who cares? They are just trying to save a few bucks by not having any dishes to wash About the food, we ordered teriyaki beef, general gaws, and two types of homemade dumplings d1 and d6, I believe. The soup dumplings and the panfiried ones. The soup dumplings were so hot that I only saw youtube videos about how to eat them before, but Ithey were scorching hot. The wrappers were a little think, but they didn't break when I picked each of them up. Also, each dumplings set came with a different type of soy sauce to use. One was a sweet one, and one was a ginger based, both pared nicely. The other one was similar but just as great. I ordered delivery from here based upon my experience with Dumpling Garden in Saugus. It was disappointing to say the least. First, while it is very easy to place an order with a service like Uber Eats, they do their own delivery. While this theoretically isn't a big deal, it was over an hour late when I ordered on a Sunday afternoon and it was impossible to reach anyone. When I called Uber Eats to get a refund, they also couldn't reach them. I got texted that the driver was a few minutes away more than an hour late as I was leaving to get something elsewhere and figured maybe it would be fine to accept it. That was also a mistake. The lo mein noodles that are delicious and slightly smoky from Saugus were nowhere to be found in Danvers. Instead I got a flavorless lump of noodles that tasted like they were boiled unseasoned. The wonton soup was bland and uneatable. I would avoid this location in favor of the Saugus one, which is leagues better. read more

So I'm super sad last night per my 4 and 6 year olds valentines request. (They had the stomach bug middle of the week and hardly eaten) they wanted Chinese food. We took a chance on dumpling garden 85 high st Danvers. We ordered $100 worth of food and already pre tipped the driver a decent amount. I called at 6:03. They told me 1 hour. I called at 730 just double checking they had the correct address. They told me yes and just 20 more Min. At 8:03 it had been two hours so I called. But no answer for about half hour. They called me back and told me 7 Mins. They never showed up. I started crying and felt terrible for my kids who fell asleep after eating a frozen pizza. From oot, we stopped in for a quick togo at lunch time since it was rated 4.5 on Yelp. We ordered the Mini Juicy Bun w. Pork, Shanghai Style Mini Pork Bun, and the Shanghai Style Pan-Fried Dumpling. The Mini Juicy Bun, 3.5 star for me: the skin is thin, reasonable meat ball with chives, the broth is aromatic. The Mini Pork Bun, 3.5 star for me, same type of meatball. The Pan-Fried Dumpling, 4 star for me: the meatball is bigger than that in the Mini Bun, but it's the same tasting The establishment is clean, the bathroom is also clean, available for the patrons. As far as the standard chinese food in the area, it's okay. I find the chicken fingers greasy, the sauce for the lo mein has an off bitter flavor (otherwise I feel is bland). The fried rice feels to be lacking flavor. The steak teriyaki however I enjoy. "But John, why do you keep coming back?" you ask. Well... it's the potstickers, dumplings, and bao buns. These are usually an afterthought, an appetizer on most menus (in the North Shore area at least) which is just one option that can be fried or steamed. This is Dumpling Garden! They have a whole section devoted to these delightfuly soft yet savory buns! I like the Shanghai style buns, they're big and fun to eat! Sometimes I like to get the dumplings, change it up with each order with different fillings. These have been a delight so far and it keeps me coming back. My usual go-to is General Gao's chicken. I have not tried it here, that would be the only other thing I would have to try. Although, I already have my favorite picks of restaurants for this dish. I have only ordered through apps like Grub Hub so I have not dealt directly with staff. From time of order placement to delivery is usually a little over an hour. It's coming from the next town over (granted we live on the town line) but otherwise it's a very reasonable service. read more

I am a frequent diner at this establishment through food delivery, takeout or eating in. The best dishes in my opinion are the Vegetable.dumplings pan-fried, shrimp crystal dumplings, bok chocolate and black mushrooms, house fried rice yang chow style (no soydsuce), and the spicy fish dry style (have to ask or it will come soaked in oil). The rest to discover on your own,but one of the authentic Chinese restaurants and according to my Chinese friend, the soup dumplings are.better than Chinatown! I tried this place a few nights ago and was extremely disappointed. The girl at the front desk made no acknowledgment of me when I arrived, and I stood there for quite a few minutes and finally went through the packages to pick up my takeout order. I had the pad Thai, the pork fried rice, and the shrimp. The vegetables were very rough and could've been a lot smaller. Each of the dishes were extremely salty. For a $50 order I was very bummed. This place is quickly becoming my favorite takeout place! We decided to try a bunch of different dumplings and had a hard time picking a favorite, they were all just that good! The lo mein was also amazing, tastes as delicious as any of your favorite takeout lo mein, but without the grease and heavy feeling after. Can also recommend the orange chicken and crab rangoon, delicious! Never had the chance to dine-in, but they do a great job with contact-less pickup. Your order is right out on a side table with hand sanitizer ready to go. Staff has been friendly every time I've gone in. They're kind to give me enough sauce and their spicy chili oil. Also love their hot and sour soup, which is great when you're feeling a little sore throaty. With a side of rice. The kids who work their are really good kids. They're always very nice to me. 2 things make this place worth the trip: wok hei and soup dumplings. The wok hei is strong with this one... unlike every other Chinese restaurant I've tried on the north shore (and not every place in Boston gets it right either). Wok hei is a necessary component for the beef wok tossed flat noodle dish to be Done Right. The soup dumplings (mini juicy buns/ xiao long bao) are legit handmade - you can tell because depending on the day, there is variability in the pleating (sometimes more elegantly pleated, sometimes like someone in training did it). The dough is a bit thicker than ideal, but it helps to hold up in the delivery/takeout model, and vast majority of the time the soup dumplings can be taken out of the container without ripping a hole and spilling out the soup. Other items also worth ordering: Mapo tofu, Flounder w.Szechuan Pickled vegetables. Note the online ordering doesn't seem to allow modifying level of spiciness, and I don't know if it can be modified if calling or ordering in person. The default for mapo tofu seemed medium spicy and flounder was very spicy, house fried rice (like home style with egg and vege, rather than just having so much soy sauce that the white rice is brown) Items that are kind of meh to me, but it's fine: Shanghai pan fried buns or dumplings (buns in general seemed a bit more American supersized, and pan frying usually not as well fried as I'd prefer), boneless or bbq spare ribs (very lean, but fat is a good thing if you want it to be more tender and flavorful), I've tried a few of the more Americanized dishes like General Gao etc., and they were all fine, maybe slightly less overly sweet and less swimming in generic brown sauce than most other places (I consider that a good thing, but maybe some would consider that less flavorful per the other reviews I read) Note: I've only ever done online ordering for takeout here. Bonus: there is no cashew chicken in the menu, for any folks allergic to cashews and worried about cross contamination. (Seriously, this is harder to find than soup dumplings) read more

Food was amazing. Real Sichuan style food and perfect dumplings. Nice for takeout, but perfectly acceptable place to sit down as well.
