The coffee was very strong but was balanced well with the egg cream. Definitely more on the heavier side but you dont have to drink all the cream if you dont want to haha. Pretty good viet coffee but very pricey. Came on a Wed morning around 9 and it wasn't busy at all. A decent amount of space and seating inside but not really meant for large groups. I do appreciate that they have WiFi though. I got the salted coffee with less ice and less sweet. My partner got the egg coffee. You have the option of dining in and they serve the drinks in tall glasses. Salted coffee was good but I feel like the coffee flavor could have been stronger. The salted cream ratio was a little much for me but the flavor was really good. My partner loved his egg coffee. It is very sweet though so be prepared. We came here on a Saturday for brunch and were able to order without a wait at the counter (a touchscreen option was also available for ordering) and got our food pretty quickly after ordering as well. We got the special banh mi, the grilled pork banh mi, and the tofu spring rolls. All of these items were delicious! Even though the banh mi looked smaller than we were used to, the portion size definitely was not smaller and we actually enjoyed that it was rolled tightly together. It made for an easier eating experience, as you could actually take bites around the whole thing. The highlight here was the spring rolls, though. The wrapping on the outside was the softest I've ever had. It was fresh, chewy, and soft, as were all the ingredients inside. I was excited to try out Pound House and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the salted matcha latte with oat milk and regular sweetness and it was delicious. A happy little addition to Somerville! Just tried this place for the first time after hearing that it was opening earlier this year and I'm happy to have a place where sandwiches are not over $10 (looking at you Bloc), good, and has a fun drink menu to boot. Ordered the grilled pork banh mi and got the matcha latte. The banh mi was fresh, with a nice crusty bread and warm grilled pork on top of house made pickled vegetables. Really unique drink menu! I got a pineapple plum matcha which tasted perfectly sweet with a bit of acidity. The coconut coffee ratio was a little off, consisted mostly of coconut slush with coffee poured on top. Pretty thick which I enjoy, but the small straws made it a little difficult to drink. I came here during their soft opening, and as a Vietnamese person, I am impressed by their Vietnamese coffee. First of all, I really liked the interior of the place. It was very aesthetic, and there was a good amount of seating and a really big table out in front. However, I wish there were more chairs or tables in the shop for people who would like to sit and study. Second of all, I really liked their customer service. I felt that the staff were really friendly and knew what they were talking about. However, one constructive feedback I have is that they should put all the finished orders in one spot. Some of the orders were on the table, some were on the high counter. It makes it hard for customers to see/know when their order was done. I waited for 15 minutes for one of my coffee not realizing it had already come out, but they placed it on a corner counter... I ordered three different types of coffee: the Vietnamese coffee, the ube coffee, and the salted coffee. The Vietnamese coffee was a classic. It was what Vietnamese coffee should taste like: sweet, strong, and flavorful. The ube coffee was my least favorite. They used real ube, which isn't a bad thing, but I didn't like the mashed, chunky potato consistency in my drink. I would not order that again--I wish that the menu included descriptions of the drinks, because if I had known there were chunks of ube yam in my coffee, I wouldn't have ordered it. I prefer an ube extract foam in my Ube coffee... it has a much more vibrant color and tasted better than mashed potato coffee.. I had to chew and drink coffee at the same time, which was an odd experience. The salted coffee was good. It was a Vietnamese coffee base with a sea salt foam on top, which complemented the drink because it was both sweet and salty. I tried to order the egg coffee, but they only served it hot, which was very weird. I wish they also offered an iced option. They are missing out on that. Overall, Pound House Vietnamese Coffee was a pretty good coffee place. But this place seems new, and I hope they can take my feedback into consideration to make this place better. read more

We stopped by during their soft opening, and while the line wasn't too long, the matcha station was definitely a little slower than the rest. That said, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and our order came out pretty quick overall. We got the Iced Vietnamese Coffee and a Matcha Latte with less sugar. The Vietnamese Coffee was excellent--bold, strong, and exactly what you'd want from a proper cà phê sữa đá. The Matcha Latte, though, was a bit too watery for us. They clearly measured everything carefully and whisked it right, but the matcha just didn't have that strong, earthy flavor we were hoping for. A lot of promise, but a lot needs to be improved. I was hoping they would fix some issues after opening the past few weeks but it seems like nothing is changing. I was excited to be around the corner from this place, but I'm disappointed. :( - Very confusing menu: The menu online is different than the tiny tiny illegible one on the wall inside the cafe. First of all, all of the "special drinks" are iced! This is NOT clarified on the menu and it is so confusing. The vietnamese coffee next door at True Grounds is served hot, so it's not obvious that it should always be iced. Even if these traditional "special drinks" are iced, please be clear for your non-Vietnamese customers! Second, the menu on the website says "Drip Coffee." But inside, it says "Vina - cano." Never heard of this. I've asked for hot coffee 3 times and each time was told something different by the staff, who were often confused and couldn't tell me what their hot coffee actually was. It's tasty, but is it an Americano? Is it Drip coffee? Kind of tastes like Pour Over, but overall I'm just confused. Third, the food items listed online are not available in store. - Terrible atmosphere: Flourescent lighting, few tables, cold atmosphere. Not comfortable. I would not stay here to enjoy my drink, food, or to work. I would love if they made this a more inviting and cozy space. :( - Hectic ordering: They give you a number to pick up your drink. This is a bit ridiculous because sometimes there are 5 people all waiting for the same vietnamese coffee and no one knows their number so it's just a free-for-all. Just take names like most coffee shops! No one wants to hold onto a paper receipt in 2025! - Skimpy coffee: The amount of actual coffee you get is criminal. The cups are filled to the brim with ice, and there are 5 sips (literally!!!) of coffee in the entire cup. If this is how it has to be, fine. But it was surprising. Overall, tasty drinks but I really hope they make the space more inviting, clarify and fix their menu, and have more consistency with the quality and quantity of the orders. read more
