The fresh lemonade here is my favorite thing. I get it every time I come. I always sip a little bit off the top and then add some water from my water cup just for a little extra lemonade to drink. Lol. I like that they have a few other options besides shrimp for their summer rolls but their peanut sauce is too salty for me. Not sure if it's hoisin sauce mixed in it but I don't care too much for the way they make the peanut sauce. I enjoyed the spicy lemongrass vermicelli too. Located in Waimalu Shopping Center where there are lots of eateries to choose from. I stopped by here while waiting for my car being done at Best Buy. Convenient location right across the street. There were open at 9AM so was happy about that. There are about 6 tables with sneeze guards between them so you don't have to worry about who sits on the table behind you since there is a guard separating them. I ate in and was really craving the Papaya Shrimp Salad, but they were all out . So I ended up getting the Vermicelli w/ BBQ Chicken, Crispy Egg Roll, and Thai Tea. Totally forgot to take a picture of my food, but it was delicious. The Crispy Egg Roll was made fresh, came with rice noodles, cucumbers, lettuce, and their dipping sauce. Always loved their spring rolls. The Vermicelli Bowl was huge I couldn't finish it! But for $12 the amount given was exceptional. They pack that bowl for you. The workers don't really come around to check up on how you're doing, not sure because it was because it was still early as I know they were prepping other foods. This location was good! As we entered, we used the hand sanitizer gel and the nice lady told us to take a seat at the table in the corner. She gave us iced water. My daughter got the meatball pho. I got the chicken plate with rice that comes with a side salad. The portions are huge here. I managed to finish only half of my plate. The chicken had no cartilage like the place next door. There didn't seem like too much table service. No refills on our drinks because the cup was huge! After you are done eating, you pay up front. There's a surcharge for items under $10. The meat was okay I wouldn't order this again. #31B Rice w/ bbq ribs, the ribs had the perfect amount of softness and crunchy on the edges. The seasoning was good and it wasn't salty. #31E Rib Kalbi, this was one of the best meals they had. The meat was cooked perfectly and the flavors were very delicious. Do recommend. #31G Chicken Katsu, I understand katsu is fried but this had more batter than chicken and the parts that were chicken were super crunchy could not tell the difference. My first time here. Server sat us on the last open table. He seemed pretty busy making us feel a little rushed. He gave us the menus then said do you know what you guys want? I haven't even open the menu yet, ummm! Although he was friendly throughout the night. Ordered Chicken Pho x2, and Vegetarian Crispy Egg Roll. The Pho was served right away but had to wait for the egg roll. After tasting the Pho, I felt the broth was alittle bland so I had added some hot chili sauce for taste. Also, there wasn't much chicken inside compared to other places I've been. Vegetarian Roll was good, a nice crisp roll and vegetables slight crunch. Portions were small with only short 4 pieces. Small pho restaurant in the Waimalu Shopping Center. We decided to try this place because it was a tad bit closer to home than our usual pho joint. Pho Five-O was just as yummy and definitely hit the spot! I recommend the pho with eye round steak and brisket (#18). Throw in the basil leaves, bean sprouts, and a little lime juice and you're good to go! The hoisin sauce with the meats also adds that flavor to your pho meal. Summer rolls were also a must! Next time I'll try the chicken pho (it looked delicious in the pictures on the wall)! The parking lot situation at this shopping center has greatly improved, too. I've been going to this pho shop since middle school and their prices has always been very affordable as well as delicious pho! When you walk in there's a table in the middle with hand sanitizer and a sign in sheet. Once you sign in you can take a seat on any table that's available if you are dining in. They also let you wait inside if you are waiting on a order for take out if they aren't busy. I mainly go to this shop for a quick pho run, they are quick to get your appetizers and meal out (around 5-10 minutes after ordering). I always order either the pho combo or spicy beef pho. Love the flavors especially for the spicy beef pho! They only serve Medium and Large bowls. If you aren't a cilantro fan, they are able to leave that out. I always get medium and it's more than enough on an empty stomach. On a good day I'd pair up my pho with an order of summer rolls or spring rolls, both are really good! For my pho today, they let me mix and match my (2) meats (beef balls and tripe) for my pho! As long as you ask, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to mix an match any of the meats. I may get backlash from some of my fellow yelpers later but I need to be honest here. I was in the area and craving a Banh MI sandwich. So happy that I stumbled on Pho Five o. I ordered the BBQ chicken banh mi so reasonably priced at $11. I brought it home and was so hungry immediately started eating it and realized that something was just "off". The chicken was tasty and bread was thick and toasted on the outside...then I realized what it was. I'm accustomed to that pickled green papaya and carrots in Banh MI but they use pickled onions. So there was a lot of pickled onions in the sandwich, in my opinion it changes the flavor of the sandwich. Everything else was fine just heads up the taste will be a little different using onions instead of green papaya in the sandwiches. But on the other hand if you love pickled onions you will be happy! I do plan to try this Pho place again though next time I'll order Pho it was pretty busy so it's a popular spot and the service was very good the lady that assisted me was so nice. read more

I don't know what happened but it was not good at all. The noodle portion was not very much & more like a spaghetti texture. The broth was watered down & not tasty at all. It did not have that good pho taste. We also ordered spring rolls & they basically gave you 2 rolls cut in half & charged us &8-$9 for that order. My husband was craving Vietnamese food and we were in the area. The Waimalu shopping center has lots of parking so finding a space was a breeze. We ordered the spring rolls & the portion size was extremely small. I usually judge a place on their nuoc mam (Vietnamese fish sauce concoction) and here it was bland which in turn tasted diluted. The seafood crispy noodles was under seasoned and really heavy on the corn starch. My husband ordered the porkchop rice plate which was tasty, the porkchop was seasoned well and the portion size was decent. Service was okay, they take your order and leave you alone. The only other thing that turned me off was the "decorative ribbon" hanging from the ceiling was not decorative at all, they're actually fly traps so I was a bit turned off with that hanging over my head during a meal. read more

Ehh, it's tough when you come from Little Saigon area (San Jose, CA) and have Vietnamese food in Hawaii. It can't get any better than CA between Garden Grove and San Jose. So here's the scoop, pho broth was a bit watered down, not flavorful. Spicy Beef Noodle (Bun bo hue) they use the same broth as their Beef Stew, which is NOT spicy beef noodle. Vermicelli (bun) was hard so it must have been old noodles and/or they didn't cook it enough. The egg rolls in the vermicelli had a weird taste.. maybe old oil? Overall, we won't revisit this restaurant. read more

I am not sure if they didn't add something today but it was really rather like drinking water with some sort of hint of something that I don't really know what it is. I wasn't happy with that. Spring Rolls were VERY good and I was impressed by the "made to order" taste that they had. Piping hot and filled with all kinds of good stuff. I was very happy that they had all the trimmings, mint, cucumber,lettuce leaves, carrots in the sauce, TASTY sauce, and somen noodles. On a Friday night outside of Honolulu, finding a place to park is about as easy to come by as a Pele sighting! I was determined to have lemongrass chicken this night would do anything and everything to get some! After being rebuffed on my attempts to visit my usual stop, I was driving up the road and did the Yelp search thing on my phone for all things Vietnamese nearby (with one eye looking for the law too!). It came to a point when I finally decided I was just going to go back on visit my favorite place one way or another. But on the way, I happened to find this shop on the other side of the road and earlier noted it had the highest Yelp rating. I came close to the parking rebuff again but then BINGO!! I was in! Of course, I didn't need to look at a menu - I just asked if they had lemongrass chicken. They did and I told them that's what I wanted! This shop is rather smallish, very well lit, and has a nice atmosphere. I ordered summer rolls to go along with my lemongrass and rice and they were the best I've ever had. They use mint in them and all the elements in the roll are fresh and tasty even without the sauce. The lemongrass chicken was spicier than any I've experienced in the past. I later learned that this shop follows the traditional way of making it. I had no problem with that! Overall, I was treated very well. Being my first time in this outlet I quickly learned that they do things a little differently than some restaurants, but I had no issues that would knock down their score for that. It is the best Vietnamese cuisine I experienced on the Island yet and a shop I would definitely frequent. I almost didn't get my parking spot and I would have missed out one something special!
