It's a Viet joint owned by Chinese people.. so the food's going to taste as such. It does not have an authentic Vietnamese taste, noted by the particular way Vietnamese cook their dishes. They grill their meats, Chinese tend to stir-fry and use an excessive amount of sauce. The flavors are also very off. The texture of the noodles was soggy and not chewy. The short rib had a very gamey taste to it, which made it really hard to stomach. The summer rolls came with hoisin sauce and not peanut sauce, which is not standard for a Vietnamese restaurant. This. Is. Not. Pho. Came in last week to place two orders of their Large Pho No.1, which has just about everything in it, and an order of spring rolls for carryout. Looking over their menu, they only serve pho, a few rice dishes, and a few appetizer dishes, which is not always bad. When I'm presented with a small menu like this, I like to be optimistic and think that the establishment is a master of their craft. After 10 minutes, our order was up and it was time to head home in hopes that a good pho spot was only going to be a 5 minute drive. So the wife and I get home and open the bag to find two white plastic bowls with lids that contained our noodles and meat and separate containers for the soup. From the outside, we couldn't tell how much was inside because things can be packed sometimes. We opened the lids and were shocked at how little noodles there was inside. The first thing that came to my mind was food truck, because this portion would be perfect for a food truck, but not for a brick and mortar. The size of their large is really more representative of a small pho when compared to any and all places that serve pho... anywhere. The amount of protein was okay, although there wasn't much tripe and tendon which was also a bummer. Some would say that more meat is what you want in a noodle soup, but then you should call it meat soup. The noodles to meat ratio needs to be in favor of the noodles in any noodle soup, but this pho was 1:1, which made me crave for more starch because there was so much meat. After opening our plastic containers, we reach in the bag to pull out the soup and my facial features scrunched towards the center of my nose. It was dark and murky. This was not what a pho broth should look like as I have never seen any pho broth this dark in color, ever. This broth resembles something closer to a Thai Floating Market Soup. It wasn't pitch black, but far far away from that light brown color you're used to seeing in pho. The taste didn't resemble much of what pho is either. It was lacking the spices that makes pho what it is. My pallet tasted a lot of star anise, not enough cloves and cinnamon and lacked the sweetness of onions. The flavor was mild felt like there should be wontons in it instead. Usually, we will have enough noodles and meat to utilize 75% of the broth per order and save the rest in the fridge to be used within a couple of days, but in this case, we only needed one out of the two soup containers and dumped the other. My wife is half Vietnamese so over the 15 years that we've been together, I've learned quite a bit about how Vietnamese dishes should be. Very sad to say that this was a far cry from authentic. Mi La Cay is still the best in the area when it comes to Pho. Compare the two and you'll notice a gaping difference. read more

I came for lunch with my family to test it out, since it's close to us. The decor is nice and our party was a little large so they added two tables together for us. The pho came out pretty quick and tasted pretty average. Nothing about it was that fantastic and the bowl sizes were portioned pretty well. Normally when I get a small anywhere else it would look like a regular or a large bowl, but this actually seemed small. My siblings got short rib rice dish and it tasted good. But it's nothing like actual com tam, the meat tasted like the marinade for Korean BBQ (the kind you would buy in a bottle at HMart). For me and my family we also need an egg, but there was no option for that. As for drinks we ordered iced coffee, Thai tea, and a mango smoothie. The iced coffee could have had more condensed milk and the other drinks were good. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but I don't think it should be called "Pho Café" but rather an Asian Bistro. It's got some Viet, Korean, and some Japanese influences. We would definitely come back if we were too lazy to travel an extra 20 mins. read more

I usually get my pho from a different place however, I did not feel like driving far this particular evening. I ordered garden rolls and a #15. The food is not bad. It's average- I've had better. But I think I would revist this location again if I didn't feel like driving far again. It's not the best but definitely not the worst! read more

Average pho. Quality of food is worse than when they opened 3 years ago. The broth is okay, not great, not bad. The meat is cooked well enough, the noodles are good. It's average pho, which is a shame because it used to be amazing. I still come here a bunch, because it's the closest one to my house, and I can walk to it. I'm vietnamese, and there are PLENTY of REAL pho places around. This place when they first opened I though that it would be good and I wouldn't have to make 20min+ drive for some pho when I'm craving. It's 5 mins away from my house. This place is a wanna be pho restaurant. There's no pho flavor at all. The staff wasn't friendly either. And when I was ordering , I usually order in English cause it's fast and simple but my vietnamese slipped and ordered the food in vietnamese and they asked me which bowl am I talking about, I clearly pointed to them as well as saying the food. If you're going to open a "pho" restaurant at least know it's real dish name. With the rice dishes, no point in trying. It's totally worth the drive to Rockville, Virginia for some good pho. Or even the one a Briggs Chaney center is good pho. read more

My wife and I ordered takeout from here today for lunch, one small order of Tai and one of Pho Ga. The food was ready about 10 minutes after I called it in and service at the counter was quick. The restaurant itself is small. There may be seating for 20-30 but there was nobody dining in when I arrived. It's pleasantly bright, very clean and has soft Asian music playing inside. The atmosphere is clean and relaxing. The staff was polite. Two small soups came to $17.91 which includes a fifty cent per order carry out fee. The food came in several containers. Each bowl had protein and noodles in it with separate containers of broth. One large plastic bag contained plenty of basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos and some lime wedges. Condiments were also in the bag as well as chopsticks. The soup itself was pleasantly flavored with no one seasoning being overpowering. The beef was well cooked and flavorful. The chicken was a little dry and seems likely to have been pre-cut frozen strips but still tasted good. The noodles were plentiful and cooked well with just the right texture. Overall we were very pleased with this place for a quick, light and inexpensive meal and we plan to try more of their menu. read more

Ordered a bowl of pho without specifying small or large cuz I was occupied with my conversation with friends. Server didn't bother to ask what size. So she got me a large size bowl of pho. If the pho itself was delicious I probably would be ok with it, but this pho didn't taste right let alone good. I'd rather go to pho hiep hoa in Wheaton or Mi La Cay. I went there with some friends for brunch. Didn't expect too much since it looks like a newly opened restaurant. The broth came out amazing! Can't say it's the best I ever have had. But it's definitely my top3 pho broth. Very efficient and quiet place. I don't like those restaurants who play really loud pop music. By playing classical music, friendly service, and top 3 broth in this area, i would say 9.5/10! Since yelp does not have a 9.5. So why not 5 stars? read more

Not sure about the other reviews but this is a solid spot for pho. I usually come in for lunch and my food is out in no time. Pho is tasty and light. All garnishes and sauces are on the table (not sure why people said it costs extra?). Waitresses are fast and get anything you need. No they're not 5* quality but they're quick and get your food out ASAP. Also, price is great. Less than $10 for a bowl. Recommend for a quick bite to eat. Much better than White Oak Pho spot, which literally tastes like water (even worse). read more

Pho is bland, not very flavorful and portion is very small, even though we ordered a large. At other pho places I normally share a large with my 5yo daughter. Good thing my daughter didn't come with me today. Hehe! Also ordered grilled beef ribs with rice. Again very bland, very small portion and way over priced!
