Very good! I got no.88 (rice noodles with vegetables and tofu) and the Vietnamese spring rolls in rice paper. Both were wonderful. The noodles had awesome flavor and good spice. Perfectly seasoned too. The tofu was a bit chewy but good flavor. The spring rolls were interesting. They were pretty chewy and the peanut sauce was also unique but the combination was nice. It was my first time trying Vietnamese and this restaurant really set a good example for me. I would definitely go here again and also recommend it to others. The sever was also a nice lady who took care of us well and the food was made quickly. My friend ordered the shrimp pho and was really impressed as well. He said he had tried pho before and this one was much better and flavor packed than any he had had earlier. Great stuff!! read more

Stopped by here for dinner since it was recommended by a Vietnamese friend who frequents this place. My friends and I ordered the combination pho. Compared to other places this broth seemed to be lacking in umami quality. It was also sweeter than usual and the addition of sweet onions made it even more sweet. Adding some Sriracha sauce to the broth did improve it a lot. The accompanying basil, bean sprouts and lime all were fresh. There also seemed to be less meat on top compared to other bowls of pho we've had. Not sure if this had to do with the fact that we came for dinner about 2h before closing on a Sunday. After all of the entrees came out we did notice our friend who frequents this place did not order the pho. His usual was grilled pork and egg rolls over vermicelli rice. I'll have to try that next time if I return. Service was mediocre. Dishes and cups appeared to be just washed and arrived at the table still wet. A wipe of a napkin easily fixed this, but shouldn't have to. I'd come back here if I was close by, but wouldn't go out of my way to visit. read more

The new location for this place is great. Decor is pleasant and it's nice and spacious. The service is so damn prompt - I feel more well-attended to than rushed. The food is SO GOOD. The beef wrapped in grape leaves appetizer tasted like the best beef I've ever had. The spring rolls taste like they've been rolled by a magician. I came here last year and was very disappointed on my Pho. The soup was water down and wasn't hot enough to cook the spouts. I decided to give it another chance last weekend but it's the same with my order #52 Bo Bun Hue. It wasn't spicy at all and it was bland. My hubby order the Pho and have the same result. Their egg rolls are the best though! Just the egg roll on their own is a 4 Star but the soups really drag it down! I prefer Pho Thanh Do and Pho Today for their soups. read more

A great lunch place in Edison. Their pho is always on point, with an excellent broth and tender meat. Portions here are fairly generous as well. With the move to the new location, looks like prices have gone up a bit. The XL pho now runs $9.50, which is actually more than what I would pay in the city. :( read more

The pho might not be the best I have had, but overall it's above average. We also order egg roll, which is crispy and nice. I order beef brisket pho, it was descent amount of meat but they are just too thinly sliced. I would definitely come back for more for their Thai tea. read more

I started with the fresh summer rolls with shrimp, which came with a thick and slightly sweet, peanut sauce. A second round was ordered just for my lunch date. The rare beef pho that I ordered was nearly perfect - the only thing I would criticize was that the broth was a little too salty for my liking (and I tend to LOVE salty broth). Of course it's also up to you to doctor your bowl with lime, basil, bean sprouts, hot sauce and hoisin. It was a satisfying size, I was just able to finish the noodles and beef. I very much wanted to give this place 4 stars because my shrimp pho was so satisfying and this was my first meal of 2015. The broth was clear and clean compared to the beef pho, but just as tasty! Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience with the other orders. My mom always orders pho with tripe and beef. The tripe looked funny. The summer rolls might as well have been noodle rolls, given how much noodle was stuffed in it, and the pork did not have enough flavor. Coming from Ohio, this place proved underwhelming for me, which says something about the disappointing quality here or the unusually good pho in Columbus (yes, it's true!). Although this place satisfied stomach-rumbling, post-NYE cravings, a less hungry person would've been less happy with the quality here. $8.80 per bowl of pho is not cheap. On top of this, they recommend 20% gratuity, which seems excessive for a quick lunch. read more

This is my first time having PHO, i do usually eat ramen a lot and i compare it to the broth here. I truly enjoyed the broth here( especially mixed with Siracha sauce, and chili paste). Ive been a loyal patron here, nearing almost a decade now and im writing this review to congratulate them on their great new location. Theyve been there for me through my worst hangovers to cold, rainy days and i look forward to continuing my commitment to them. they took over Edison Noodle (Jjajang) in the shopping square with Shoprite and Party Fair (775 rt 1 S) and the space has tripled! decoration is refreshing, they added two 42 incher to the wall heh and they have lots of new additions to the menu. as the first person trying their crispy egg noodles (whoopee~), i was very satisfied with my dish (side note: i love my food salty so it wasnt a problem for me, but some might find it to be a bit too much). please do not pass up on the ::avocado shake:: ..youre missing out ! first time trying it tn and became a big fan. i always go for their coconut water when ive had a night out and parched, it always does the trick. that soupy soup is pho'keeng bomb. read more

Good Pho, tasty vermicelli bowl, and my sons enjoyed the pork chop with rice and the pork egg rolls. The food is enjoyable and the staff attentive (we must've got there during a quieter lunch hour over a weekend since the food was served relatively quickly). I have to say that while it's good and we'll come back again, the food come out as regular. =========== On a different occassion, I tried the rice with grilled chicken. The chicken comes out so oily that the sauce is totally covered by the oil and my lips felt so oily after every scoop. Not bad. Not sure it's the best, though. Had my usual broken rice with BBQ pork, egg patty, shredded pork. The shredded pork isn't that finely shredded. The BBQ pork has an odd pink color to it and is pretty chewy. The egg patty is pretty hard and has a weird shape--almost molded to be round instead of sliced out of a cake of egg. Great little Vietnamese spot. I love this style food as a lot of the meats are grilled. I had their grilled t-bone and fried rice dish and my fiance had the grill shrimp vermicelli. Mine was very good, the steak had some good seasoning and the rice was perfect. I usually stop here in off hours and its not too busy, im not sure about peak times. I imagine it's a byob, but im not sure, bring it just in case! read more

I found my new favorite Pho/Vietnames resturant in NJ! I would highly recommend the grilled beef in grape leaves as an appetizer ! Normally I can't stand the taste of grape leaves but this was completely out of this world !!! We dipped them in hot sauce, so good !! I would also reccomend their wonton soup appitizer. The wontons were definitely homemade and the broth was so tasty. The wontons were slightly falling apart but whatever, still taste good. The staff is super friendly and attentive! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was their bright green wall, it looks sorta funny and out of place and tacky. A solid lunch or dinner place. My roommate and I always head here on rainy days, because pho is definitely rainy day food. We may not be experts on pho, but we have to say that this is one of the best pho places we have ever been to. Our food comes out fast--even when we're grabbing food before class or work, we can go in and out with no problem. We've gone there so often that we have become familiar with Joan (who we believe is the owner). She always gives us great service, and we have noticed that she treats everyone else very well. Always friendly and welcoming. We can see her waving as soon as we walk up to the restaurant. Even from the beginning, we've never had a problem with the service. The pho is refreshing. Fresh ingredients and a solid broth. We are always satisfied afterwards. However, one time I did try their BBQ pork over rice dish, and I wasn't exactly the biggest fan. It adopted a western style that took away from the authenticity of that dish. The fried egg rolls are awesome, and you can even see them hand-make them if you go in at the right time. Went to visit the new location with my parents and unfortunately was so sleep-deprived I didn't piece 2 and 2 together that this is the old Pho Anh Doa that used to be located in the blue shopping mall near the Dunkin Donuts. I'll start with the pros - the location is new, clean, freshly renovated - a little bright, but clean. The cons- the food and the price The PHO is sort of OVER PRICED for what you're getting. I was ravenous and ordered the DAC BIET XL for $9.80. I was expecting the biggest PHO bowl I've ever seen since I usually order regular sized bowls and was very DISAPPOINTED that I easily ate this portion of noodle with no problem - no loosening of pants or breaks required. Taste wise it was good - I've had better and I've had worse, the meat portion was generous relatively speaking. However, for almost $10 I truly expected more The pork chop rice plate. I wish I could say it was better. 2 pork chops with a generous portion of white rice. The chop was just ALL WRONG. It was the wrong cut (the lean cuts you buy from shop rite), dry like cardboard, with no taste or semblance of lemongrass or grill flavor. VERY DISAPPOINTING. All in all, the service was okay - the bean sprouts were plentiful, the fish sauce was really tasty. Would I go here again ? ---- maybe if I was desperate and had extra dough lying around and just for the PHO. I would avoid anything else. read more

I ordered the beef brisket Pho, not too impressed. The slices of beef which were supposed to be a little more on the medium rare side was all well done. Great food - I had the beef saute with rice noodles and my friend had the chicken pho. Both were flavorful. I was a bit skeptical that beef would be fatty and have gristle, like some other Asian places but was very happy that it wasn't :) i would recommend this place for vietnamese food anytime. I will start on a positive note. This place will satisfy a random pho craving. That being said the pho is emedicore i had the chicken pho the broth lacked flavor and the chicken was meh. I stopped by today as I was craving Pho and I was in the area. The presentations are good and the people are very nice, however, the taste is just average. I have not had a chance to try some of the other Pho restaurants in the area so I can't compare, I am just writing based on my experience being a Vietnamese and growing up in Vietnam and L.A. As a side note, they have a 15 dollar limit for credit card or else it's a 1 dollar charge. If you eat with more than 2 people, this wouldn't be a problem but I just thought I'd highlight this for others to see. read more

I'm not Vietnamese (I think it makes a difference when it comes to reviewing food), so I'm not educated enough to confirm authenticity, but I did spend many years in neighboring Malaysia. From all the Vietnamese restaurants I've tried, it ranks as fair. The fish sauce is fairly fishy - even more so once it sits overnight in the fridge and gets cold. The Spring rolls are meh. Egg omelette is meh, and the Pho is fairly good. None of which is worth writing home about. But beggars can't be choosers. Frankly, the old location was a little bit more cozy; you were stuck between angioplasty-friendly donuts and grand pianos that were never going to sell in a million years. (I've been eating at this place in both locations for years - and basically tried every Vietnamese restaurant in the area for the past 25) The new spot is just atrocious. It looks like a large barren hangar for the Hindenburg with enough naked fluorescent lights to make you reminisce about all those hours wolfing down Bugles from the vending snacks at an office cube farm. The center aisle is so wide, Honey Booboo's mom could strut down voguing for the latest Walmart haute-couture. What is it about so many Vietnamese restaurants in the U.S.? It's like they want to spend MINIMAL outlay on decor and ambiance. That's all fine and good if you're back in Vietnam, where hawkers rent out a portion of a coffee shop and they charge 60 U.S. cents a dish - which is the case in most Southeast Asian coffee shops over there. But at $10-12 dollars a dish (our bill came out to $45.00 for two people), you'd expect, I don't know...a bit of effort? I'm very well acquainted with the Asian practical-minded mentality (also known as CHEAP) when it comes to restaurants: give them pure quality in the dishes, and they'll come back no matter how awful the setting and service. There's a hawker in Penang Malaysia where the cook verbally abuses her customers - but her dishes are so fabulous, the line is out the door and around the street corner. People come back daily for their bellies to be filled, and their sense of self-worth annihilated. The social contract is that with all the money they saved from having to decorate the place and make it comfortable, they put it all into the ingredients of your dish, but you and I know this rarely happens in the bottom line culture of the business world. So having said all that, with Pho Anh Dao's new location - one where you eat cautiously, almost expecting Bill Lumbergh to siddle up behind you and say "Um...yeah, I'm going to need you to go ahead and pack up your Pho for me" - with chairs slightly less comfortable than a colonoscopy table, bare bones furnishing, rickety table, and coffee shop atmosphere with fancy restaurant prices - they really really need to hit the ball out of the park and provide dishes of tremendous quality and sumptuousness. But I'm sorry, that's just not the case. It's just an average Vietnamese coffee shop grub that can be found on any corner store in a Vietnamese city. But beggars out in NJ can't be choosers (there's another similar place on Rt. 27), so they bank on that. When you "go out" for dinner, you come back with fond remembrances of a night out with tasty food. I look back and think about my last few visits to Pho Anh Dao and all that's left is the practical hardness of Asian dining ("You eat! You Pay! You Go Home!") I only remember the buzzing of the fluorescent lights, and a vague feeling that I may or may not have gotten an MRI. Won't be going back. read more
