What a gem. I am ashamed to say that I have lived within minutes of Pho & Spice for years and had never visited. My husband and I were out doing Christmas shopping and got hangry and decided to visit late on a Saturday afternoon. My first impression: he dining room is immaculately clean and the staff was extremely friendly. We split the pineapple fried rice that was absolutely outstanding -- the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I got the chicken pho and my husband got the miso ramen. My pho was really, really good. The noodles were perfect, the broth was very flavorful, and the highlight was the sprouts, basil, and fresh lime toppings they served with it. My husband, who really likes spicy food, ordered the ramen with one chili pepper worth of heat. It was VEEERRRY spicy. They make their own chili oil and it was such a robust heat that next time he thinks he will get that on the side and add it in gradually. Portions were ample and the overall vibe was terrific. I had heard of Pho & Spice before and it was my friend b-day and she wanted to try pho so we were excited to give it a try. We came When we arrived the first thing I asked myself was where is the entrance? As we pulled into the almost non existent parking lot we saw a small sign behind a cargo truck that said entrance. No big deal. We waited about 3 min for a table and they were very accommodating. We were a party of 5. We waited about 30 min for our food and the food was pretty good but nothing to be excited about. I ordered the pad thai at all and I didn't like it so I asked the waiter to change it for me and they had no problem at all with that. I appreciated how accommodating they were although we had 2 waiters and the second waiter was a bit too much for me but that is just me being picky. Finally a good pho spot in the area! My boyfriend and I currently drive 20 minutes to this restaurant to curb our pho cravings. There's one closer but Pho & Spice is worth the drive. It's located on a main street with a driveway just before the church. I've eaten here 3 or 4 times now and the most recent dinner was the busiest I've seen it - good news travels fast!! FOOD: The menu can be daunting because there's just so much and the options look great. Usually places with several different Asian cuisines on one menu make me skeptical but they do a great job on authenticity of the dishes. If you're trying to decide between the ramen and the pho, good luck. They are both really freakin' good. I can't speak on the other meals because I usually go for the pho. But the apps are good too. Always hot and fresh out the kitchen. During my last visit they forgot(?) the basil for our pho and my dac biet pho was missing tendon. It was a bummer because their tendon is usually melt-in-your-mouth tasty. But it was packed with so much other brisket and steak I didn't even bring it up. This is the first time I've been to this place. I went for lunch. Very clean restaurant. Parking in the rear. Service was good. My Pho came out before I had received my bean sprouts with lime and my utensils. That was a little disappointing. I got the Tai Pho which is rare beef and I added on shrimp. Shrimp was a little too fishy for me. The Pho was delicious over all. I had to ask for the chili peppers so I'm assuming that level of heat is not popular here. I ordered Vietnamese iced coffee which was pre-mixed for some reason. Not what I was expecting. I was also disappointed with that. I usually try every restaurant that advertises Pho at least once. This restaurant has a very diverse menu. There are both Vietnamese and Thai dishes with noodles (not rice noodles), rice and rice noodles. Since it's only 8 miles away, I may come back and try some of the other dishes. Overall, I give it 4 stars because I'm pretty satisfied. Honestly, this is the only Thai game in town so we go there when we want Thai. Cheshire is desperate for good food places. We have 5-10 pizza places required for each CT town, and not much else. So, in a way I appreciate Pho and Spice. This said, the food is about as close to baseline, average Thai food as you can get. It's not bad, it's kinda good. But it's not exciting or different. A very ambitious menu, but the taste is just alright. Parking is located to the left of the building, with an entrance in the back so that you don't have to walk around. First thing that we noticed was that the interior is bright and welcoming. Also, their menu looked great. There were so many options, not necessarily Asian fusion, but just a large variety of different East Asian dishes. We ordered the Vietnamese shrimp spring rolls, fried tofu, shrimp vermicelli, and lemongrass chicken. Shrimp spring rolls with the peanut sauce - very standard. Fried tofu - exactly what it sounds like, comes with some very much needed sweet sauce. Lemongrass chicken - would have preferred bone in and a thicker sauce. The lemongrass tasted good but nothing like the Vietnamese lemongrass chicken that I expected (which is marinated and grilled). Shrimp vermicelli - wish it came with more shrimp (fyi the shrimp is unpeeled and some of the shrimp were not completely de-veined) and dish is bland overall. I have to say I was delightfully surprised at how tasty this place was. This was a rainy day so the restaurant was pretty empty. My servers were so attentive and sweet the entire time. I ordered steamed dumplings to start, and a bowl of chicken pho. The steamed dumplings were bites of perfection. Perfect little pillows of deliciousness. The dipping sauce that accompanied gave it even more flavor. My bowl of pho was just perfect for this rainy day. I got all the fixings and chili sauce on the side that I needed. This restaurant is definitely different than the ones that were previously housed in this location. The menu is huge and very good. For an appetizer, I recommend the fresh summer roll. I mix the sauce they provide with the hoisin sauce on the table and find it so fresh and good. For a main dish I recommend the create your own basil and vegetable delight. Most of the create your own and Curry's are good. I tried the Pho Chay and tofu and egg Cac Mon Bun and both were very light in flavor. I like bolder flavors, but think these may be good dishes to try for people who light lighter broths and are scared of curry sauces. I really like this restaurant and recommend it. read more

I came to to this spot for Thai food but ended up ordering Japanese and Korean. That's how much Asian fusion variety is present on Pho & Spice's menu. Want Vietnamese Pho? Check. Want Japanese Ramen noodle soup? Check. Thai noodle dishes or fried rice? You name it they have it. This was my first visit and my wife and I tried three things: spicy miso ramen, kimchi fried rice with beef and the Bangkok Paradise entree. On a previous visit with her friends my wife got the spicy eggplant entree that she really enjoyed. The Ramen was a nice balance between spicy and creamy from the miso influence. There were plenty of lo-mein style thin noodles and sliced pork in the broth and I was actually surprised to see this on the menu. I had heard they had Pho but the Ramen was a pleasant surprise. I never miss the chance to have it during the winter months. Kimchi fried rice was another surprise I was not expecting to see. Kimchi is a sourish type of cabbage used mostly in Korean dishes and it works very well in fried rice as the rice balances the tang and spreads it out among the entire serving. We ordered this as an appetizer to share and still had enough left over for a hearty snack the next day. I had wanted it with pork but they were out on this night but the beef was a good second option. The Bangkok Paradise dish with chicken and shrimp was excellent as well. Thai curry sauce in coconut milk was the sauce and I highly recommend it if this is your taste. This Cheshire location is the sister restaurant of the more well known New Haven location/ But if they keep churning out food like this they will become just as famous. And oh,yeah, I still need to go back and try their Thai Drunken Noodle dish which is how I generally judge Thai restaurants. I'm sure I will not be disappointed. read more

It's always exciting to see new Asian food options in Cheshire! This place gets a thumbs up for their diverse menu, cute atmosphere, and tasty food. I got the shio ramen, and it was pretty good. It was spiced a little differently than other shio ramens I've had, more like a cross between ramen and pho, which I didn't mind since I also love pho. If you're expecting NYC ramen, this would be an unpleasant surprise, but for CT ramen, it was solid. The noodles were plentiful and cooked well. The broth wasn't too salty, and I thought the amount of meat was respectable. My friend got some kind of stir-fry and enjoyed it as well. I have really been slacking on my Yelp reviews and I apologize for that. I have been dying to go here for a few months now, but I always tend to forget that Cheshire is relatively close to us. Today, September 28, has been a cold and rainy day. I had a job interview earlier today and totally wanted a pick me up of pho- one of my favorite foods. This place is phenomenal. It is tiny on the inside but with enough tables and booths that it's not too crowded. When we arrived there were about 4 other tables seated and by the time we left we were the only ones there. I am going to be obsessed with their pho- I can just tell by the aroma from when you walk in. I was so hungry, I didn't take any photos of our meal. The pho is absolutely delicious, the broth was so flavorful I didn't add anything else to it not even lime....just chased it with fresh chili and shrimp paste that's how good it was! I went and got myself knocked up by a Cheshire local. Anyway, now that youre fully caught up on useless context and annoyed that you can't get the last 30 seconds of your life back: I've searched far and wide for a decent Viet place in CT since moving here from NY three years ago, only to find myself consistently disappointed time and time again. I nearly gave up on my quest to find the best Vietnamese food (settling on Duc's place in New Haven but im sorry, why the bahn mi only policy, Duc brother????). Butttt luckily for me, my baby daddy also believes in Second Dinner. Overall review: Pho & Spice matched the quality and flavor of those good ol' days back in Queens. I haven't had Vietnamese or Thai food this good in a very very long time. Finally decided to try this place from it being here for so long. Dont get me wrong I love Asian restaurants but sometimes I little hesitant to try them. My boyfriend thought it would be good to try it finally and oh my God. If you havent tried this local restaurant you are missing out. The staff was very friendly, nice, And attentive especially when it cane to refilling our drinks. The decor was very nice and inside was basically spotless. They have a really big menu and their prices are very accommodating. They also have bubble tea and I never knew! Although I didnt get q bubble tea today I will probabaly get some in a few more weeks when we go again. Look guys, I'm a very understanding person. So then there was a few sauces that I didnt like, then I'm not gonna knock it down a few pegs. This place deserves the 5 stars. Lot of good reviews here but I'm sorry to say we did not enjoy our meals. My family and I love Thai and go out of our way to try new places when traveling. The beef teriyaki appetizers had a very odd texture unlike any beef I'd had before. The flavor was bad and we did not eat them. The Pad See Ew was not edible as it tasted sour and just-off. My wife and daughter said the Pho Ga was ok and that looked like what most people were ordering. The drunken noodles were ok... won't be back. read more

Very poor with greeting the customer. The Pho Dac Biet, Pho Tai Bo Vien, and Rice plate with pork chop. All 3 dishes did not taste good. The meat in the Pho is old, Bo Vien is hard, soup base have no taste and added fried garlic in Pho is not the original Vietnamese Pho version. I would not recommend this place for Vietnamese people who are looking to eat authentic Vietnamese Pho. read more

Pretty decent place overall. The food was pretty good. I ordered a green and red curry with some rice and I asked for extra spicy. It was pretty decent. The waiter was very nice and knew a lot about the menu. From the inside it is not a bad looking place. It is pretty nice but a hassle to get into. You have to go around the back and past the kitchen to get in. I found that kind of odd. I would not come here again if I was looking for some banging Asian food. I was so disappointed when they closed abruptly, but when I heard they had reopened, I had high hopes of again enjoying the best crab Rangoon around as well as gyoza and drunken noodles. What happened to this restaurant? Pre-pandemic, it was one of our favorite places. Lately, nothing but disappointments! To start, pho is watery, lacking flavor, and many times key ingredients missing, or items we said to eliminate are included. Bangkok Paradise was always my go to meal, and was always loaded with fresh veggies, among them red peppers and green beans. Lately there are none of the above, but have been replaced with white potatoes! Portions have nearly halved with merely a few bites of chicken. It also used to be creamy; now quite watery and hardly any spicy taste to it. Crab rangoons have changed too.
