Was coming to the Hartford area and searched on Yelp to see what's around here to eat. Literally this was the first result and with 4.8 stars and in need of a hot meal before a cold night of holiday activities , we decided to stop in. We had 6 of us. We got 2 orders of fresh rolls with extra dipping sauce, 3 Vietnamese iced coffees, 3 (22) grilled beef over vermicelli, 2 (5) pho dat biet, and one (17) grilled pork chop over rice, and a frozen avocado smoothie with brown sugar bobas. Food comes out very quickly. The rolls were good. Peanut dipping sauce was excellent. And to be honest we didn't need the extra sauces. They're served with a generous serving of it. I did use it on top of my grilled beef noodle bowl. Which was fantastic. Comes with a fried spring roll. Generous amount of beef. Big portion of salad too. Tried some of hubby's pork chop. In my opinion the pork chop was slightly better. But it's served uncut where the beef is sliced into strips. Pho bowls were on the smaller side compared to other places but honestly it's perfectly sized for one person. Everyone finished all of their food. We asked about desserts. We tried Pho & Grill after hearing the owners are related to the family behind our favorite pho spot, Pho 501 in East Hartford. We made the 40-minute drive with high expectations...and they totally delivered! The restaurant is modern and spacious with plenty of seating. We were greeted and seated right away, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Super friendly, fast, and attentive from start to finish. The food was fantastic; from the crispy, flavorful deep-fried pork spring rolls, to the amazing #12 Pho with rich, clear broth and plenty of noodles and meat, to the fresh and tasty vermicelli with spring rolls, to the beef Banh Mi that was pure perfection. I also got a pineapple tea with clear pearls (they have tons of fun drink options!) and it totally hit the spot. Everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we left full and happy. So glad this was the first restaurant my daughter and I tried for the year. And 5 stars to boot. Can't believe it's taken this long to come visit, but better late than never! Another first for us was the beef spring rolls. Every time we've had Pho we've had the shrimp fresh rolls. And I have to say these are even better with some yummy homemade fish sauce. My daughter ordered the Pho Ga or chicken Pho and I had the brisket and flank steak pho for our mains. They were both outstanding but my daughter stole my beef Pho before I got the chance to spicify the broth so it was the clear winner. We will definitely be back to try more menu offerings as the depth of flavor was perfect. The service here also needs to be mentioned. It literally feels like coming home. We stopped into Pho Grill for lunch. My son loves Pho in Sarasota FL. He raves about the noodles and broth . We are three vegetarians. The only item on the menu that was vegetarian was a cold noodle salad with lettuce and cut up spring rolls accompanied by a peanut sauce. I must admit that we were all happy with our meal, but the diners around us were slurping soup. I asked the management on our way out if they would consider making a soup with vegetable broth. The response was that they make big vats of soup and there is no demand for vegetarian. I'm disappointed. We will not be returning. read more

We stopped here on the way to NJ for dinner. It was really packed in this small restaurant and they seem legit! Unfortunately the pho broth tasted a little on the milder/watered-down side, but it did taste authentic. This place wasn't too bad. The biggest problem I had was online ordering and by the time I came to pick it up, they didn't know I had an order, so I had to reorder in person. The wait wasn't too bad though and the pho was decent. The soup was better than the banh mi I had, but if you want to try and make it better, no shame in ordering that double meat. The Thai Tea was good too. This is a small establishment so there isn't a huge parking lot, but a handful. The place is clean and smells like tasty broth. read more

Pho & Grill has been on my radar for a while, but this was my first visit. I got my standard first visit order of Rare Steak Pho and fried egg rolls. Both were good, but didn't pop for me in the way that my fav of my fav local versions. The broth was a bit less flavorful than my fav spots. The egg rolls had good outer texture, but the composition and seasoning of the filling, was just pretty good. The dipping sauce could have been sweeter and more acidic as well. The pho is really good, but not as good as their sister location in East Hartford (Pho 501.) The bahn mi is really yummy and a generous portion! I usually love fresh shrimp spring rolls. I was kind of bummed that there's so not have fresh herbs (I enjoy the fresh mint or basil) but they were still good. The location itself is comfortable but we are typically running there for takeout. They are super friendly and the one time they forgot something in our order, they were super apologetic. This has become our go to Pho place! We previously would only get Pho from 501, but Pho & Grill is less than 10 minutes from our house and hits the spot every time. There are about two Vietnamese restaurants that both have the best pho and the best fresh spring rolls in the Hartford area that I've found, and this is one of them. A pho dinner without fresh rolls to start is not something I engage in frequently so that is a must. The best in my opinion are the ones with slices of meat and shrimp. I had the shrimp and pork fresh rolls and another person at the table ordered the grilled meat option. Absolutely delicious!!! The pho broth was also good, and I would say that the thing that sets this restaurant apart is the very generous portion of meat in their pho. Put these two together, remind yourself this is a vietnamese restaurant and it all makes sense. It must be authentic. Yes it was notably clean in here. Every precaution for COVID is in place. The decor and ambiance itself was so bright and inviting. Beautiful on a sunny day but brightening on a rainy one. My Pho was perfect. Clean and clear broth, tender and juicy meat. No overpowering of anything. Just perfection. Sometimes, when there's nothing much to say, it means it was that good. Pho is one of those things. My Pho Dac Biet was everything I could have ever wanted it to be. The meatballs even had that nice chew to it. I guess they always do but like I said, if there's not much to say, it was perfect. I'll move on now. I topped off my meal with a vietnamese iced coffee. LOVED IT. Everyone here was so nice. Such a great way to start off a relaxing Sunday. I cherish every day off that I get. Growing up now and gaining experience in life only allowed me to realize how valuable time really is. But eating quality pho is one thing I spend time on and it's never considered wasted. This is our favorite restaurant in the area! The food is delicious and consistently prepared. We go at least once a week. The owners Nicole and Ken are so friendly and nice which always makes us want to go see them. Im addicted to their pork vermicelli and lemongrass pork chops. Loved how clean this place was and the friendly service we received after we immediately walked in. We got the Pho Tai and the traditional pork banh mi. The pho broth was extremely clean, very surprised at how clean and non oily it was compared to most places we've been to. Not only did it look clean but it also tasted like there was less MSG used and my mouth didn't shrivel up to sand after eating. The noodles however weren't the typical clear rice noodles which is more of a personal preference. For the price the portion seemed small but overall the broth was the big seller for me. 7.5/10 The banh mi was solid. The bread is indeed a make or break point of the sandwich like someone else had said. The insides were good, wish there were more veggies. We do recommend opting for the extra meat, which is what we will do next time. 8/10. My wife is on a hunt to find the best banh mi in CT and this is certainly a contender. read more
