This is my GO TO Chinese spot!! We couldn't decide what we wanted on a Saturday night and we called 15 minutes prior to closing. They were eager and friendly to make our food without hesitation! Everything was hot and steaming and literally came right off the grill as soon as we picked it up. I got general Tso's chicken with the white rice and my wife got chicken Lo mein with egg rolls. Everything was hot and fresh. read more

One of the people in our group really wanted to have this restaurant for takeout, so we all agreed to it. I was struggling with the menu as I couldn't find any reviews or mentions of gluten free even though when we called they assured us of the items I'd be able to eat. So we ordered everything vegan and gluten free. We got fried rice, noodles, broccoli, spring rolls, and (not gf) general tsos tofu. Apparently also in the bag were crab Rangoons. The non vegan/gf people loved these. However, at Asian restaurant, gf means you don't get any sauce. So the rice and noodles were kind of like steamed rice and veggies. They also added gluten free soy sauce packets, which begs the question, why can't they do a regular fried rice? I opted not to try the spring rolls since they were probably in a shared fryer. The food was okay, honestly I think the best thing was probably the crab Rangoons. Maybe a good place without allergies, but not a great selection without! read more

Still really good food here! I stopped in to get lunch for myself and a coworker. We got the lunch special. Definitely a great deal for the amount of food you receive. Staff was really friendly and service was fast! read more

My husband and I find this to be the best food in the area. Our food is ready On time for pick-up and they customize our order each time. Our regular go to. read more

I have never had House Fried Rice that was not good, but theirs was terrible. It was like a soggy soup rice that was very bland. Very dissapointed. The orange chicken was very tough and chewy and came in large chunks that you needed to cut it with a knife, only they gave you a child's size fork to eat with and no knife. We won't be going back there ever again. Least enjoyable Chinese food that I have ever had. Staff was friendly, but does not make up for the lack of quality in the food. Bland, Tough, and Tasteless. read more

Delicious food - delivery and takeout have been fabulous. Great portions. General Tso's was a little spicy which was great - places always say it's "sweet and spicy" but never actually hit the spicy part! Crab Rangoons were fabulous read more

This was take out. I ordered dumplings and the dough was so thick and tough. So disappointed. The pineapple chicken was almost there with flavor. The Thai Garden from when owned by Andrew (way way back when) had the best cashew chicken. The spring roll was greasy. read more

1st time here very impressed with food. Good test and best value. I ordered lunch menu. It's come with soup. Yummy high recommendation read more

If you love crab Rangoon, this is the place that has THE BEST crab Rangoon. Their fried rice & lo mein are the best I've had anywhere around here as well. The service here is great, the woman at the front is the sweetest! If you're looking for a great lunch special, this is the place. read more

Nothing but excellent things to say. We have been going to other restaurants for take out Thai and Chinese food since moving to Middletown and we will never go anywhere else after today. We were so overjoyed with our experience. Ordering online was simple and quick. Pick-up was fast and efficient. Everything was correct and noted specific order requests. Pricing was more than fair. Portion sizes were outstanding and flavor was exceptional. We were thrilled that there was not as much grease as we are used to in our food. Everything was hot and well cooked. Not enough good things to say! We got the beef drunken noodles, plain lo mein noodles and General Tsao chicken. We will absolutely be back to try more! read more

I always enjoy ordering from Asian Restaurant when I want to treat myself to great local Thai cuisine. read more

Awesome Chinese takeout/delivery spot! Ok, so to be honest, I scrolled past this one on the list of Yelp delivery options for literal YEARS because I thought, with a generic name like this, how could it possibly be good? But my husband finally convinced me to give it a shot and I was so impressed! We've ordered takeout or delivery a couple of times now and it's fresh, not greasy, and very flavorful! This is now our new Chinese takeout spot. Highly recommend! read more

Fresh ingredients, well-prepared and vegetables were cooked just right. I liked the tofu and vegetables entree I ordered recently. Food is prepared spicy by default. Ask for mild or no seasoning if you have a sensitive palate. I will definitely come back to Asian Restaurant again. read more

Okay. Time to review this place :-) name can be deceiving and fall through the cracks of google or yelps algorithms due to very obvious name. Name aside how is the food? I have ordered the following: - Crab Rangoon - Japanese fried pork dumplings - Mongolian Beef Crab Rangoon was fantastic! Shaped very lovely, dough crispy and chewy (but not soggy) with the right amount of filling. For a moment I thought I was eating a nice breakfast pastry. Size of the each piece was also correct. Especially if you like to dip in the included sauce. Other places try to over complicate things. Often I see scone shaped massive Rangoon's to big to dip in the tiny container with sauce - plus one for Asian Restaurant Japanese fried pork dumplings were very nice too! I often skip the sauce here as I like to deconstruct flavors and what's going on in there. Very flavorful and not too salty. Another point for AR. Mongolian Beef - there is many schools on how it should be prepared or served. While I'm the most familiar with sautéed version where there is a little sauce, plenty of spring onions and char/crunch on the beef you won't find it here. Meat was cooked in the flavorful broth (not too salty which is a plus if you want to actually taste the components like meat), with a large number or caramelized onions and very little to none of "the green stuff". I would like this place to offer Mongolian Beef both ways: 1) the way it was served here, where it felt more cooked in its own sauce like a stew/goulash 2) once cooked beef could return to the empty wok pan for char and crispy edges to introduce some texture. And yes, a lot more of spring onions please. Overall good attempt and I'll be revisiting within next few months. Attaching few pictures as well. While packaging was secure I like to remove things from their containers for a richer experience. So why 4 out of 5? While I have plenty of spares, don't forget about chopsticks :-) Enjoy! read more

This was the first time ordering from Asian restaurant. GrubHub delivery was great. I was interested in trying their vegetarian meals. It was pretty pricey but I was willing to pay it to try food that I can't get anywhere else. I've ordered off the lunch menu . vegetarian beef and vegetables and vegetarian General Tso chicken. Both looked and tasted great. They were both very delicious. I'm actually glad I ordered them. The vegetarian General sows chicken was not what you would expect it to be. It was chunks of vegetarian meat in vegetables and a sauce. Didn't taste like General Tso's sauce at all. It was not what it is I expected but it was very delicious.. I added one vegetable spring roll in order to get the delivery. I wouldn't order that again. It was mushy inside. I would order food again. read more

Asian Restaurant - Top is lunch vegetarian beef with vegetables and hibachi rice. The bottom is lunch vegetarian general tso chicken with white rice - Thai Near Me - Middletown, Connecticut

The food was really good and reasonably priced. The service was great as well, they have good lunch specials. Would recommend it.

They have the absolute best schezuan chicken. The meat and veggies are always fresh.

The lunch special is a great deal with lots of options. The staff is very friendly and conscious of the pandemic. Lots of vegan options too!

Well, first time was excellent. Second time was a disaster as they were completely overwhelmed, took 30 mins longer than promised and the food was lukewarm. Third time was just fair at best talking strictly about the food. Very nice people though! read more

Had take out from here. Based on the reviews had high expectations. Unfortunately the food was extremely greasy and almost tasteless. Even the seaweed salad was oily. Won't be ordering from here again. read more

I ordered the Pad Thai for delivery. When I tasted it; it was spicy. I actually order this dish because it is NOT a spicy dish. There was no indication provided by the restaurant on the delivery app that this would be a spicy preparation. When I called the restaurant, the woman who answered argued with me about my order. This literally left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The noodle was surprisingly silky and the spice in there soup was on point and you can taste the beefy flavor in the soup as well Overall it's was a fantastic dish and definitely coming back for more read more

I will definitely go here again. I loved that they have vegan options and the price wasn't too bad.

Drunken noodles had no flavor at all, just a peppery aftertaste. Hardly any noodles with mostly unflavored chicken. Totally unsatisfied

Had dinner tonite with my wife & daughter. Everything we ordered was delicious. Thai red curry chicken, hibachi steak & shrimp for entrees. Highly recommend the vegetable spring rolls & duck spring rolls. Will definitely be back to explore more of their offerings. Had dinner again last nite the fried wantons were to die for Will definitely order them again read more

Nicki and Ping are amazing. I love supporting Asian Restaurant because I know I am supporting a local couple who work extremely hard. The service, whether it be delivery, take-out or dine-in is always impeccable. Vegetarian options are a plenty. What more can you ask for? Pro-tips: - Their homemade duck sauce is incredible. Don't sleep on this restaurant! - You can order through the BeyondMenu app or by phone! read more

First time getting takeout here. I hoped Saturday worst the food would be average. Sesame chicken had absolutely zero taste. Very disappointing. White rice was cooked ok. Staff was friendly. read more

The food was pretty standard fare, It tasted fresh, and had no hair. A wide array of different Asian options, Try it for yourself- Why not stop 'yin? Asian Restaurant serves Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine, so it's a great one-stop shop for your General Tso's Chicken, a Rainbow Roll, and some Pad Thai if your family can't decide what they want for dinner. The food was good, but not good enough for me to convert from my favorite Middletown Chinese restaurant which is closer to my home. I have gotten takeout for dinner a couple times and the dining room has been empty. There are plenty of tables and chairs, but not many people seem to eat-in for dinner. It does pull in a pretty decent lunch crowd since it's close to a large office building and a number of other local businesses. read more

Let me start by saying, I miss Michael's Deli (former tenant). Recently, I also lost my favorite Chinese restaurant (see Moon Star, Cromwell). So, when Asian Restaurant replaced Michael's, I couldn't wait for them to open. My husband, mother in law and I stopped in tonight for dinner. Now this isn't your typical Chinese restaurant. It's a small place, but it has ample seating. They offer Chinese, Japanese & Thai cuisine. My MIL is not a huge fan of Chinese food, so my husband and I split an appetizer of Homemade Pork Dumplings. They were served with a spicy curry sauce. We also shared an order of edamame. Each of us chose a very different meal. I had the Chicken Thai Chow Mei Fun (extra spicy). They used a perfect mix of ingredients (chicken, scallions, eggs, onions and spices). My husband went for the Big Bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup with Ramen Noodles. The bowl was huge! Unfortunately, my husband would not recommend this dish. The broth was bland, the chicken was a little funky and the noodles were mushy. My MIL opted for the General Tso's Chicken. She said it was very good. It came with a side of rice and broccoli. Expect reasonable prices and a attentive, friendly staff. Overall, it was a good experience. Will be heading back soon. read more

I first ordered from here when they first opened and I never ordered "Chinese" from anyone else ever again. Hands down the best around. We order from here about once a week. The food is fresh and delicious every time. It's rare I find somewhere I really love. I always get The vegetable delight, their vegetable lo mein is also excellent.. they have the best crab Rangoon's and they also have vegetarian style chicken/meat which is great when you're craving meat but don't want meat. Their soups are great. I love love love their hot chili oil. Definitely a local gem. If you haven't already tried them your missing out!! read more

My go to. The best and friendliest Asian food in town hands down. The best crab Rangoon and best chicken&brocolli

Asian has amazing food! The people that work there are unbelievably friendly. The only complaint I have is that their portion sizes aren't as big as I would expect them to be. In my family, whenever we get take out we order a bunch of things and have it family style or buffet style. However, I feel that the portion sizes at Asian aren't big enough for that compared to other take out places Other than that they have quality food and the prices aren't ridiculous. Plus their complementary iced tea is delicious and gives a homey feeling. read more

Wow! I wasn't expecting much given the lackluster name, but it was really good! I ordered delivery, which arrived within 45 min (I live on the opposite side of town). Ordered a spring roll, chicken noodle soup, chicken with broccoli, wonton soup, and shrimp pad Thai. All were good and fresh. I can agree with others who said the soups were a little bland, but I much prefer that to too salty, and nothing a little soy sauce or sriracha can't fix. I much prefer a fresh taste than an MSG overload. Shrimp pad Thai was the winner of the day. read more

They are a bit on the expensive side as far as Chinese/Asian restaurants go, but the DO have a large variety of things to satisfy almost any craving and dietary restriction. I really love them because they have bok choy (as a entree option) and I get that almost every time I go. read more

this place flat out sucks. $61 delivery for greasy, bland, tasteless food. they can't even be bothered to follow instructions on online orders. Shocked at how good this place was! I've driven by tons of times but was always a little concerned about the nondescript name and empty dining room, but I think they do a majority delivery/takeout business. Finally came in to pick up dinner on a cold night. The vegetarian menu is great! Lots of options. We ordered the sautéed bok choy in the clear sauce and vegetable lo mein. Both dishes were huge! It must have been 5 lbs of bok choy, and tasted fresh and light. The lo mein was also delicious, full of fresh veggies. Our spring rolls were very tasty as well, crispy but not greasy. We had tons leftover, so it was a great value, and the food was cooked quickly. Staff was very nice. So glad to finally have found a great Chinese place in Middletown! read more
