Got food from here for the first time and I was not disappointed. I ordered combination platter with boneless spareribs and chicken lo mein. My partner got General tso chicken with pork fried rice. I ordered delivery again for the second time after being very happy with the first dinner. I ordered the general sows tofu again, which I was happy with. I ordered my husband, a seafood dish that said to have lobster, crab, meat, shrimp, and scallops. it was thrown out in the trash, unfortunately. My husband didn't like it at all. It was not crab meat, but imitation crab. It was mostly imitation crab, the lobster meat, and the scallops. We could barely find they were chopped up very fine. I would not recommend the seafood dish, but again, I would continue to order the tofu. read more

I order Shrimp Chow main every time I get Chinese. And I have lived in many places. Usually it comes in a quart carry out container. White Rice in another quart container and if you order fried rice it comes in yet another quart container. This Shrimp chow main came in a small clear top aluminum round container. When I opened it most of the container was fried rice topped with shrimp chow main. I would say only about a third of the container was shrimp chow main two thirds rice. If I had known this I would not have ordered more pork fried rice but we did, which came in a quart container. My wife's pork lo main was the same. I think they are trying to save money by shorting their customers. The food wasn't even that good. Kinda bland. I will not be going back. read more

I was passing through Middletown and had a sudden dumpling craving, as I am wont to do, and this place was apparently the only chinese place open at the time. The family that runs this place seemed very kind and allowed me to have tap water with my meal which came from a pitcher they kept in the fridge. The layout of this place reminds me of Neptune's Yummy Yummy. I got the sesame chicken, a spring roll, and an order of steamed pork dumplings. The sesame chicken was your standard Americanized fare. Nothing special there. The spring roll was crispy but the inside had a texture I didn't care for. At least it didn't have shrimp in it like many of the spring rolls I've tried in Norwalk! The main attraction for me were the dumplings which really raised this place from a 2-star to a 3-star review. I think this place must make their own dumpling wrappers or something and must use a different method to do it because there is no other way to describe the dough's texture than "satiny-smooth". That sounds silly, but it's true. The inside of the dumplings was a tiny step above what I've come to expect in Connecticut, but still nothing to write home about. The outside really knocked my socks off though, which is saying something since the whole appeal of a dumpling is really meant to be the interior. I believe that China King also has veggie dumplings. If I was passing through Middletown again, I might stop by and try out the veggie-version to see if the insides could match the outsides. read more

Awful. Ordered General Tso for lunch. Picked up "fresh" not delivered. The chicken was stale - literally tasted like it had been leftover from a couple days before and then cooked again until dry and hard - and the fried rice Definitely was leftover. Vegetarians take note. This very typical Chinese takeout has one very special feature - a selection of faux meat dishes. All the dishes are very large for the price and everything seems clean but the food itself is dull. Take the hot and sour soup for instance. The container is about a quart but it tastes like it came from a can. It's neither hot or sour. Also, don't expect to do substitutions or have them leave out the onions. Lomein was lacking flavor, Beef on a Stick (great name) was covered in too much sauce (not teriyaki, more like bbq - sweet, weird), a bit cool, a bit chewy, and was small for the price. Disturbed that they are not giving receipts. I was suspicious the first time. I was asked for a certain amount. But after giving money, a different amount was rung up. Then the money was placed in a different register. If paying by credit card the full amount is placed in the same first register.
