Outside is very much a busy shopping plaza in not the best part of town. Inside is a completely different story. Very clean and spacious, lots of booths and tables. Decorated well and a lot to see. The staff were friendly but there was a slight language barrier. We fumbled through the menu and found some bites to try. Food came out relatively quick, and that was a bit to manage because there were a lot of plates brought rather quickly. We got pics and dug in. The bites were flavored well. Nothing felt too greasy or under seasoned. The white pepper chicken was very crispy. But not a lot of chicken on each bite. The sweet and sour soup was both sweet and sour, but balanced enough that you could keep on eating it. The dumplings were fresh noodles and the filling was spiced well. The only flop was the spare ribs. Really tasty sauce, but very little meat on the bone. Had to suck on the bones to scrape enough meat off to make it a proper appetizer. It tasted good, just was not easy to eat. Price for the area was high for the neighborhood. It's got the quality and the flavor to command that price easily, but it doesn't match the stores. Highlights included: (1) the egg roll with a peek crispy exterior and a flavorful filling; (2) the flavor of the mildly spicy and rich brown Hunan sauce and the texture, color and variety of the vegetables (peppers, carrots, chopped baby corn, broccoli, onion, mushrooms, etc.) in the Hunan Beef; (3) the substantial wontons and tasty meat filling of the wontons in the soup; and (4) the chopped boneless spareribs type pork in the pork fried rice. In actuality only the Strawberry moon has risen and set since I last rose from my recliner to pick up a takeout order at this restaurant. This evening's meal, as has been the case on many prior evenings, included pad Thai and hot basil stir-fry accompanied by jasmine rice, both of which included grilled shrimp. Speaking of grilled shrimp, 8 were included with the pad Thai while the hot basil hosted 9 more. Portion size of both dishes was sufficient that leftovers will be served at a dinner to be held in the future. Before I close out this review, I should mention quality and price, the former is the best in the area while the latter remains very reasonable.
