This time we got the tea, General Tso's chicken, chicken wontons, chicken lo mein and a side of white rice. Everything always comes out hot and fresh

My first time eating here definitely worth it. If you are looking for comfort food and spicy. Everything was delicious staff were nice, food displayed beautifully.

Excellent Chinese food! You know that you've picked a great Chinese restaurant when 90% of its patrons are of Asian ethnicity! This place has an extensive menu of American and traditional Chinese Cuisine! Fast and pleasant service and a nice ambience for a restaurant in a discount strip center!

For a while I had heard Chef Jiang was a destination for high-end Chinese cuisine, so when a former colleague was passing through CT and reached out to ask if I could grab lunch on his way through, Jiang was my suggestion! Nice interior decor, good initial service, and I really liked the complementary Hot & Sour soup 'amuse-bouche'. We each chose from lunch special menu. Being from Bflo., the like spice & naturally got Kung Pao w/ chicken. My friendgot a beef dish...yeah I don't pay attention, sorry ;-) Anyway, all was delightful, except a bizarre situation: I asked if brown rice was an option, and it is! Thus, we both ordered brown rice and unfortunately this was a curveball, as our entrees came out at least 10 minutes before the rice. Suggestion: while healthier, don't order brown rice rice ;-)

We had wanted to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. Arrived around 6pm on a Saturday - had a good amount of people already. The restaurant is pretty spacious and you don't feel cramped in there. We ordered: - braised beef noodle soup - mapo tofu - dan dan noodles - mixed vegetables - spare rib lotus soup - stir fry beef noodles Overall the meal was very tasty. The mapo tofu is definitely more sichuan spicy. The braised beef noodle wasn't quite what I had expected but it wasn't bad. Could have more flavour. The spare rib soup was good. Dan dan noodles was tasty and definitely had that kick to it. The stir fry beef noodles was not quite what I had expected and it didn't match up to the Chinese menu name or picture. The noodle that came to the table had Choy and bean sprouts in it, which is not typically and it was on the sweeter side. It was long bad but definitely not what I thought I was getting. The soup was tasty and was bigger than we expected - definitely meant for a bigger group.

Becoming my go-to for more authentic Chinese (Sezchuan) when I'm the area for work. Had the beef dry pot and a few apps, namely the pork soup dumplings and shrimp har gou. Dry pot was excellent - lots of varied ingredients, spicy, and kept warm over a hot flame. Apps unfortunately were not so good, definitely had a pre bought frozen feel and taste to them. Stick with the food they cook from scratch on site, and you honestly won't go wrong. My 3rd time here, highly recommended.

Salted egg yolk shredded potatoes. Delicious. Tastes a little like carbonara!

Great, quick service. The menu has a lot of dishes I hadn't heard of before and got to try several new flavors. I can't wait to go back and try more. We skipped over the Chinese American dishes (which I'm sure are great) to fry traditional dishes. Spice levels can be adjusted upon request.

Best Chinese restaurant in the Farmington area. They have my favorite scallion pancakes, dumplings and pumpkin cookies. Trust me you just have to try them. The service is super nice and the ambience is one-of-a-kind. I just love the decor! Perfect for a lunch or a celebration!

The restaurant is nice. We just missed the big rush. Seemed like they were short staffed. We needed extra nap and had to ask 3 different people. Food was very good. Very much had an authentic flavor. We got some of the dumplings and I think those were my favorite. We got the soup dumplings and the shrimp shoumai. We also got the beef bao buns, a lamb dish, a beef with cumin, spicy fried chicken, spicy shrimp.

I ordered this as takeout and ate it about 20 min later. The food was still warm and the chicken still crispy. The chicken was a little thick on the breading but the flavor was good. When I picked it up the food I was greated with a friendly welcome.

Was not expecting authentic Chinese food during our work visit. This was right by our hotel and I saw the highly rated reviews and decided to suggest it for our party of 8. Everyone was thoroughly filled and happy at the end of the meal. We shared everything but I didn't try the lamb or beef dishes. I did try some of the veggies in the curry dish and it was delicious- had a kick to it! The garlic chicken was a bit meh compared to some other ones I've had in the past but looking at the grand scheme of the meal, I was fully satiated. We ordered a ton of dumplings as appetizers and half a duck to share. The duck was tender and all the meals tasted fresh. Service was good. We ordered a couple bottles of red wine and beers, which were served promptly. Nothing to complain of.

I frequently order from Chef Jiang when I want authentic Chinese food. It really is the best Chinese food in the area. What I like about it is that their spicy food is actually quite spicy. My favorites are the crispy cucumber and the mapo tofu. There's a dish called "minced pork with sour pickled bean" that's really flavorful and best eaten with white rice. Their xialongbao is good too, but I recommend you eat that in the restaurant. I order them for takeout and while still good, the soup tends to leak out during transport. Everything I ordered was packed in plastic containers (which is great for fridge storage but not great for reheating) with the exception of the white rice and lo mein, which was packed into classic Chinese takeout boxes.

Standout is always the Torched Salmon from the sushi bar, so smoky-tender, and also the Hotate Hokkaiyaki appetizer, baked scallop, flying fish roe, mushroom, and spicy mayo. Both unusual but super delectable. Tonight I also scored on some fatty tuna, which isn't always easy to find and that I had not tried yet, just so buttery and perfect on the sushi rice! An add-on was the baby hamachi (yellowtail), also yummy and different from regular yellowtail. I like that the soy sauce they provide is not overly salty like some. All this was accompanied by a perfectly-mixed orange martini, just a good, fresh, light meal. There's just no substitute for fresh, perfectly assembled sushi! I also agree with another reviewer who points out that a lot of Pan-Asian places are "jacks of all trade, masters of nothing", but Bamboo is just the opposite. I've never had a bad meal or bad service here.

The space is absolutely beautiful: modern, bright, and spotless. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out piping hot. Personally, I didn't mind because it just meant my soup was perfect when it arrived, and my son's appetizer followed shortly after. I didn't check out the bathrooms this time, but judging by the rest of the restaurant, I'm sure they're just as immaculate. Black Bamboo is the only Chinese food I'll eat, period. If you know me, you know I'm picky, and this place never disappoints. Every bite tastes fresh, the service is friendly, and the vibe is always calm and inviting. Over the years I have had everything on the menu, and I've never had a bad meal. My personal favorites: the egg rolls, scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup and their fried rice, which I honestly think is the best in the world, period. My son is all about their beef teriyaki and it's his go-to every single time. This is exactly the kind of place where you can try something new and know it's going to be good. I recently ordered the chop suey and egg foo young for the first time ever, and both were fantastic. If you've been curious to branch out, this is where you want to do it; you can't go wrong. Also, they have real duck sauce for a small upcharge. Not just stuff in the packet (yuck). So if you're craving Chinese food in West Hartford, go to Black Bamboo. They recently opened a new location on Farmington Ave in West Hartford, but this spot is east of the old location. The new digs are nice inside. The dining room is not huge, but it's roomier than the old dining room. You still order at the counter even if you're dining in. Over the years, most of my food orders probably fall within the 4.25 Star to 4.5 Star range for a takeout type Chinese restaurant. Occasionally, they'll dip a bit lower or soar a bit higher. My General Tso's Chicken Combo meal with broccoli, pork fried rice and a fried shrimp egg roll was trending towards 4.5 Stars, but fell a bit short so I'm going to round down to 4 Stars since I can't give half Star ratings. The chicken was good quality and well cooked. The sauce was a bit sweet and sour-leaning on the General Tso's Spectrum. The shrimp egg roll was very good. It had two medium size shrimp rather than a bunch of mini shrimp. Pro Tip - I like the pork egg roll at a lot of places, but Shrimp is definitely the way to go at Black Bamboo. The pork fried rice was tan, which I mention because I always prefer places with the tan rice to places with the yellow rice. I've ordered a range of things at Black Bamboo over the years. Their sauces are not always like the sauces at other places. And what I really like about Black Bamboo is each Black Bamboo sauce tastes different than its other sauces. At other takeout places, a few different named sauces are just vaguely brown, sweet and spicy. Black Bamboo is one of the better takeout Chinese options in Hartford County. 4.4 Stars

Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good.
