Went there yesterday. Ordered the fried rice with chicken. When I got home and opened the bag there was also a chicken style soup as well. The food is plentiful, good and enjoyable. Opening the cover of the rice, you are presented with maybe 10 nice lean strips of chicken laying over the rice in a row. The rice itself has green peas, carrots, added. Visit #1 was for steamed pork dumplings, and two soups -Won Ton and Hot & Sour. The six dumplings ($6) were fantastic. Plenty of overall size with a thin noodle wrap, and a wonderful meat filling. I detected some diced water chestnuts in the filling which gave the dish a nice crunch. The dipping sauce that came with the dumplings was exceptional, so all in all, this was a fantastic dish. The Won Ton soup ($3.50) was stocked with five huge wontons, more than you usually see in comparable containers. And Lord oh Lord was my H&S soup ($3.75) excellent. Never mind that it was meatless, it was by far one of the very spiciest H&S soups I ever had, and that was fine with me. I can't tell you how much I loved it. Visit #2 was for two of their $8.99 Box Lunches, and they are quite a deal. You get one of 21 entrees plus fried rice and an egg roll. The $8.99 base price is for a chicken or tofu or vegetarian dish; upgrades to pork or beef or shrimp will be a buck or two more. Similarly, the $8.99 base price is for plain fried rice, but you can upgrade to beef or shrimp fried rice for $3 more. My wife ordered Snow Pea Chicken and I went for the Mongolian Beef prepared hot and spicy. My Box Lunch was excellent. The egg roll was full-sized, and not the slimmed down mini version you sometimes see in a lunch special. Yes, it was mostly cabbage, but tasted great and wasn't greasy at all. My Mongolian Beef was a winner with plenty of delicious and tender thinly sliced beef mixed in with onions, scallions, and peppers. It was prepared hot and spicy, and I loved it. Oh, and the lunch had plenty of fried rice too. The meals were so generously portioned that we each had half and will finish them up in a day or two. So that means we'll get 4 servings for about $20 total. And how can any Asian food loving Yelper argue with that? read more

The food has no flavor and their customer service is horrible so I will never recommend them again

Visited a friend's house tonight and he suggest we do some local Chinese food delivery. So he ordered from Yue Se, food came to the house maybe less than a half an hour later. I ordered a General Tso's Chicken dinner box, my friend had the Chicken Lo Mein dinner box and a steamed dumplings appetizer. The General Tso's Chicken was crispy, sauce had a nice spice level, but I wished there had been more of the sauce. Egg Rolls were good, Crab Rangoons were just OK. The dumplings were tasty. The dinner boxes came with a small salad also, I thought that was a bit odd, but the salad was decent. As I was leaving my friend's house to head home, my wife wanted me to pick up something for her also. So I stopped at the plaza where Yue Se is located, but because it was dark and I had never been there before, I entered the Japanese restaurant next door. To add to the confusion, the name of the Japanese place happens to be Yume. Eventually I finally made it home with my wife's Sweet & Sour Chicken dinner box, and she enjoyed it. Yue Se is a solid 4 Star rating, IMO. We plan to order from them again in the near future, and next time I'm sure I won't get lost at Yume in the process ! read more

Sometimes I think of CT Yelp as a professional sports league. Different CT regions have teams of reviewers and restaurants, and I think of those regions as divisions in a league. Reviewers mostly eat within their division. Reviewers occasionally, but less frequently, eat in nearby regions. I think of collections of nearby regions as divisions within a sports conference. Reviewers sometimes, but even less frequently, venture into far off regions. Those restaurant visits are like out of conference games. Yue Se, a Hong Kong style cafe and Chinese Restaurant in Farmington, is in my conference, but not in my division. I noted a while ago that a reviewer I respect in Yue Se's division was really high on Yue Se and that it had a 5 Yelp Star Rating. Because of that, I plotted a morning trip to Bantam that saw me driving back through Farmington as Yue Se opened. I can see why the reviewers in Yue Se's division are big fans. I was in a hurry and planned to order take out. I asked a woman who may have been an owner whether they could make a Mongolian Beef Dinner Box in 15 minutes. She said they could do it in 10. I liked that confidence! While I waited, I observed a few tables for dine-in and a clean, modern and minimalistic vibe. I'm not sure they even took the full 10 before she returned with my dinner in a brown bag. She was very friendly throughout my time there and I felt well taken care of. Because I'm a food nerd, I removed the attractive and functional takeout container from the brown bag and immediately took pics. Steam escaped as I removed the clear lid from the multi-compartment black container. The dinner box comes with Mongolian Beef, pork fried rice (a small upgrade), an egg roll, two Crab Rangoon and a salad. Picture perfect takeout. I decided to eat the two Crab Rangoon then because I was concerned that they might get soggy during the 20+ minute drive home. The exterior was crispy, but not too crispy. The filling was mildly sweet and had the creamy texture that I hope for. Right up there with the best Crab Rangoon I've had in our conference. I ate the rest when I got home. I loved the pork fried rice. It was full of diced pork, and it was all very flavorful. Again, right up there with the best in conference. I also enjoyed the Mongolian Beef. The beef was tender and came with strips of well cooked onions and peppers. The sauce had good mildly sweet flavor and it well coated the pieces in the dish. This was not a case where the food was drowning in sauce, which happens with many Chinese takeout places. Great takeout execution on the Mongolian Beef. The egg roll was not a highlight for me. It was fine. The exterior had nice color and texture. The filling was a bit one note for me. I would have preferred to see something like small pieces of meat, poultry, shrimp or other veggies to mix things up a bit. However, this wasn't enough to detract from the otherwise Five Star takeout experience. Watch out for the Farmington, Avon, Simsbury and Canton Yelp Division. They mean business. read more

On Friday January 26, 2024 my wife and I ordered food online at 5:28PM Order # 20630 1) boneless spareribs box dinner with a small Hot & Sour soup. 1) Hunan Chicken box dinner with a small wonton soup. I arrived ten minutes before pickup time and waited a little while longer. Very busy place. They put everything in brown paper bags and staple in shut. You cannot see what is in your bag. No counter space to examine the package. You pay. You leave a tip. You drive home. You get inside your home and open your package and find small container with liquid Broth and ZERO WONTONS. Very Disappointed 2nd time the order is not received correctly or satisfactory. Food Tastes good. The box meals come with abundance food. It's too bad they don't show you the food before putting in brown bags. I won't be going there again until they fix the packaging assembly behind curtains and the customer has no idea what they are receiving. read more

We had some takeout from Yue Se with varied results. The orange chicken was so good that it stands out among the numerous Chinese restaurants we frequent. The steamed pork dumplings were great. The chicken Mei fun left something to be desired. I know times are tough but these noodle dishes are skimpy on meat and veggies. Generally, Green Tea is our go-to place, but that orange chicken will keep us coming back. read more

The verdict is in: we love Yue Se. as this place settles in, it's found it's groove. It's the perfect little takeout place. What we love: 1) friendly service. 2) easy pandemic pickup 3) fast. Oh, and, THE FOOD! We keep discovering gems that are some of our go to dishes now for takeout. 1) pork buns. These are legit. 2) pork dumplings. Not those prefab gummy kind. These are silky wrappers. Yum. 3) boneless pork ribs. The right about of sweetness with quality meat 4) salt crispy chicken. These are like popcorn. Once you eat one you can stop. Again not overly breaded. Just the good stuff 5) mushroom beef. What a great dish. Fresh veggies, flavorful sauce without again all that sweetness. The Hong Kong dishes are standouts too. 6) and the mei fun. I'm not sure what it is but it just gets it all right. Looking forward to many more takeout meals from here. My one suggestion for them: allow for payment online!! The staff is very friendly, but unfortunately, the menu was limited in selection and the food lacked flavor. No brown rice nor chow mein offered. Fried rice lacked flavor. I would give them more starts if possible. The food was FANTASTIC!! Their place is clean, and the service was extremely fast. We ordered 5 dishes and it was ready in 10-15 minutes, and was nice and hot when received. Everything we got was really delicious and I will definitely be ordering from Yue Se again. I'm not from the area but was in Town for work and found this place on yelp. I was so glad I did! It's not your typical fast Chinese food spot, I feel like it had more menu items than the usual. The food all tasted delicious, I got the Hong Kong style beef with hot and sour soup. I definitely recommend this spot. read more

Have been searching for a go to Chinese restaurant since moving to the area. Yue Se is very good. Based on other reviews, I tried the crispy salt chicken, pork buns, wonton soup, and dinner box with general tso. Crispy salt chicken is good, but wanted a sauce to go with it (the ginger dressing that comes with the salad was perfect for this) Pork buns were good although not a ton of filling. If I were to skip something on another visit, it would be these Wonton soup was good, hand rolled wontons. Came with 5 in a small. Broth was great. Dinner box is awesome & and huge amount of food. As others said, definitely enough to share or have another meal for leftovers. The fried rice was awesome. General tso was very tasty and more chicken than a greasy breading other places offer. The egg roll and crab Rangoon that come with it were also very tasty. read more

I have absolutely loved the last few meals I have eaten here! I highly recommend the dinner boxes and shrimp fried rice. The restaurant definitely does not skimp out on their meats and quantities, the quality is excellent, and there is little time to wait for orders to go. Am I missing something? I'm looking at the other reviews for this place, and it's highly rated from others. My family of 4 went to lunch on a weekend at this place, which wasn't busy, as we were 1 of 2 parties dining in at the place. This is a small cafe, but we were surprised that everything served was on paper plates, and we were given plasticware for eating utensils. The shumai that came were small and seemed like the kind that you could find in the Asian market in the frozen section. (If that's true, then I can do that myself at home. If they made these small little dumplings, then it's disappointing for a Chinese restaurant because they were plain and small.) First time ordering used Door Dash. Food was delivered hot ahead of estimate time & it was really good! The veggie dumpling & crab Rangoon were outstanding, general tso's also tender tasty with just a little bit of heat. Only negative was fried wontons were too dark over fried. This is the best Chinese restaurant that I have been to in the greater Hartford area.* I ordered the triple delight with jumbo shrimp, beef, chicken and mixed vegetables. It was $15 and could have been shared by two people. The shrimp were actually jumbo, as advertised, and there was plenty of shrimp, beef and chicken. There were lots of vegetables which usually isn't the case at most restaurants. There were peppers, onions, zucchini, broccoli and sugar snap peas. They were nice and crisp, but cooked just enough to make this a healthy and satisfying dish. There are only 5 tables in the restaurant. Each could hold five people, but I imagine that they could be put together to accommodate more. I think that this restaurant has a good take out business. Our waitress was helpful and very pleasant and accommodating. *I haven't been to Feng and Shu in several years. Feng was very good but very expensive. Shu was very good too and moderately expensive, but I think that the very good chef left. read more

The boneless spare ribs were too big and fatty for my taste but flavored well. The rice was mid. Very basic, nothing to write home about. The crab ragoons were good, nicely flavored, and not tough to chew. Lastlyn the eggroll was mid as well. Very basic the house duck sauce was great. The service was quick, and I ordered online, so there was nothing to complain about there. The ambiance was chill, and there was no one there, which surprised me for the rating. Casual dining. Good food. Friendly service. Seems set up primarily as a to-go place, but they have a small dining area for eat-in. Unlike other takeout places, they are very attentive when you choose to dine in.
