Today i stopped by here about an hour after they opened. When i went, there was pretty much noone there, later on a couple of people showed up. Ordered bear milk tea, strawberry french toast and char siu over rice. Only 2 arrived Bear milk tea: eh, was cute but way too sweet. Pretty gross. Waste of money and calories. Strawberry french toast: again, eh, not all that. Just tasted like fried dough/youtiao/zeppole. Not any strawberry flavor or really any flavor. Looked good but was all looks. Waste of money. Char siu with rice: waited almost 1 hour, everyone else at other tables got their foods, got so sick of waiting we just left without even getting it and told them to take it off the bill. Fairly certain they completel forgot about it. They were also sold out of panda tofu pudding, despite the place being open for only 1 hour. Service: super slow, ok nicewise but extremely slow. Overall: won't be back to, between the prices being high and the food not being all that and the service not being good, just not worth it. The japanese bbq place across from it is better. read more

I recently dined at Sing Choi Kee and I have very mixed feelings. The food itself was good..flavorful, fresh, and definitely the highlight of the experience. No complaints there. Unfortunately, the service really took away from it. We waited a long time for everything: from drinks to appetizers to our entrees. and there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant. When one drink came out and we asked about the other, we were told it was "taking a while to froth the milk," which felt odd considering how long we had already been waiting. What made it more frustrating was watching other tables receive their food much faster than we did. It felt inconsistent and honestly a little dismissive. When it was time to pay, the waitress asked me to just tap my card without even showing me the bill or letting me see the total, and then hovered over us while we were trying to close out. That part felt uncomfortable and rushed. The food was good, but the service needs serious improvement. read more

Service is attentive - they're checking in on you a few times while you dine to make sure everything is good. Food came out very fast (roughly a month after opening) - we both ordered the char siu rice bowl (cha shao). The vegetable was cheapened from what was on the photo/display to 2 pieces of lettuce. The meat was a bit too tough/chewy but the sweet flavor was nice. Food is not too salty. I joined their membership and got to try the curry fish balls and lemon tea. I'd get the tea again, not too sweet. Fish balls tasted pretty good, very mild. The kids got kid meals (shrimp pasta is the only main option), with a choice of nuggets (3 pcs) or small fries and a drink (citova grove apple juice, orange blend from Tropicana). Pineapple bun with butter was not warmed so the butter didn't melt. Bread was a bit hard and dry. Music bass can get loud but otherwise the decor is nice, it was pretty empty for Saturday lunch. The mark of a good HK style cafe is whether they can make legit HK milk tea, which has a very distinct profile and flavor. Unfortunately, SIng Choi Kee failed in utterly disappointing fashion. This was the one item that I was most excited to try because authentic HK milk tea done right is almost impossible to find in the northern NJ area. I could almost overlook all of the other flaws of this restaurant if they could just deliver me a solid cup of HK milk tea, but alas it was not to be. I visited the day after the grand opening, so I'll give them a little grace that they're still working out the kinks. Most of the staff looked like chickens running around with their heads cut off, clearly not quite ready for primetime. After we were seated, we ordered from the accompanying tablet. No one brought us water, plates, or utensils until after the first dish arrived and we reminded the server. Ok, in terms of food, a lot of items were sold out, such as the char siu (and any other dish w/ char siu) and pineapple bun. What? These are your signature items. How can you be sold out of those items already on day 2?? The items we did manage to order ranged from not very good to average. Overall, it was a rather disappointing dining experience, because I was so excited that a supposedly classic HK style cafe was opening up near me. read more

The food was incredibly delicious and exceeded my expectations. As a huge fan of Asian cuisine, particularly Pad Thai, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this dish. It was exceptionally flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Greek salad, however, was a bit of a letdown. Nevertheless, the other dishes made up for it. What a pretty fun place. Instagramable food and drinks. Both mocktails and cocktails and kid friendly. I recommend every drink and our Xmas party tried many. I liked the egg and katsu, rice bowl, dim sum, noodles with veggies mushrooms and shrimp. The ribs and corn were the best. Delicious. The desserts are to die for. Despite my father saying "wait a month before trying any new restaurant", we went either the second or third week of opening. Please keep that in mind while reading this review. The decor of the restaurant is busy. Fun, but busy. Astronauts, bears, Asian plates, Western Plates, etc. But the knife looked like an ancient weapon, which was fun to use! Service was lacking and slow. Our server came by a few times in the beginning to see if we were done ordering, but we needed more time. After that, she was nonexistent when we were finished. Ordering took a few more steps as our tablet did not communicate with the kitchen. So she had to redo the whole order, go through it, and then send it. Everything was slow. Finally, the drinks came out as well as the soup we ordered. Soup was cool to warm. Drinks were really good though, especially the milk tea with the little bear. And more time has passed until our entrees came. Char Siu rice bowl didn't have the flavor of other places I've had it. The pasta and omelet rice was good, but just lacking in the Asian flair. The place is pricey. I couldn't justify ordering soup dumplings, when there's only 3 per order. All the other dishes had prices that I felt were a lot for what it really is. The experience was just amazing the moment we were seated, we were welcomed as if we were family members!! The food was amazing and authentic! This is coming from a world traveler who has had first hand experience with Hong Kong's gastronomy culture! Service was top notch, from the hostess to the waiter and waitress who waited and checked in on us constantly ensuring our needs were met. As if these were enough, the presentation of the food and the aesthetic and ambiance of the establishment exceeded my expectations. We were here to celebrate my niece's 6th birthday. She loved her kids meal that came in a "car", and thank you for making her feel special with the birthday French toast and greeting!! We can't thank you enough. I absolutely love this place! As far as Asian food goes, this is such a unique take from the traditional type of Chinese restaurants that you go to. The menus are absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe how many different food items some of which I've never heard of or thought to put in a combination. The desserts are also absolutely adorable! And the drink drinks, the little brown sugar bear to make it extra sweet is so adorable and cute. The drinks that they offer are very unique and to be quite honest I'm incredibly impressed. I never thought of mixing some of those items together that taste absolutely amazing. The inside definitely does not look like a traditional Chinese restaurant. It has outer space theme and type of modern lighting. It's honestly not bad and overall a very nice atmosphere. The weight staff was incredibly friendly and helpful explaining what we had to do for the menu. I signed up for their rewards program because I definitely intend on coming back here again. If you intend on come here, I highly recommend the pineapple bun ice cream. It is so adorable and delicious. read more

It's not bad but it's not great either. As someone who loves chinese food and have dined at HK cafes in Chinatown and Flushing... Sing Choi Kee is just NOT it. My husband ordered the Char Siu ricebowl and the meat were dark brown instead of the advertised vibrant red. We kinda knew it was going to be MEH when we saw the browned' Char Siu --- usually a sign that it was pre cooked, frozen and reheated. My chicken cutlet curry rice was meh. The cutlets were thin and dry, and I thought the curry tasted worse than the microwavable ones from H Mart. HK milk tea? NAHHHHH. Both ours tasted weird and I paid extra for the teddy bear ice and it was a waste of money. Overall, the food is MEH, and it's extremely overpriced. They are charging at least 50% mark up from what you'd get from a HK cafe in CTown or Flushing...but sadly, the food is not elevated! We won't be back. read more

Went opening day. We were seated quickly, about around 4pm. The waiter was uninformed about the menu. When asked about what was in the Taiwanese sauce for the chicken, he had no idea. When asked about another dish, he was blank. I asked as a new restaurant don't staff try the food so they have a better understanding of the dishes so the can answer diners questions? I guess not. The confusion with the tablet to self order or utilizing the waiter unfortunately had one of the items we order not ordered. We waited another 10 minutes for the French toast. The drinks were cute but more of an instagramable moment if anything. The plating seemed mismatched not cohesive. Bamboo , stainless stee tray, blue and white China pot. Was it modern or traditional? The chicken was flavorful but alittle dry. I loved the redbean tofu pudding- reminded me of a filipino dessert called taho. My friend had the mini steamed buns, the flavor was nice she said but where was the meat? More sauce than meat. The fre nch toast bites were light and crispy BUT very oily, almost like a funnel cake from a carnival. Overall, aesthetically confusing, disappointed in lack of staff knowledge of menu and food was ok. I may ve ture again to try another few dishes but they.are not high on my list atm. read more

We ordered fried calamari and curry fish balls to start--both were just meh. The char siu with velvet egg over rice was good, and the black pepper beef pasta was solid. The pork katsu curry over rice was nothing special, and the portions were very small overall. To top it off, the kitchen/server completely forgot our sticky rice chicken wrapped in lotus leaf. Me and my family came here opening day to find solid food and attentive service. We enjoyed every dish we ordered and it came out in a reasonable time. The corn ribs were great as were the veggies in scallion oil. The soup dumplings were tasty, but the skin was in the thick side. The fish balls were fantastic, and the curry chicken omelette rice and popcorn chicken were both solid. My one gripe would be the price of many of the items were on the high side for the portion size. We will be coming back for the food alone being that Rockland is food desert for real Chinese food. read more

The grand opening was a disaster, we ordered 2 kids menu items and they did not come after around 40 mins of wait, no excuse. Had to cancel the order and eat in the food court instead( which was a much better experience to be honest). I understand that opening is usually bad but this is the worst. I was actually very excited to try this place since there isn't a lot of Hong Kong style cuisine in the area and since I only live 20 minutes away from this place I figured if it's good, I'd come here again. Coming here again will not be likely unless they work very hard to fix all the issues. The food was alright, but the service was what needed a lot of help. The runners kept chucking dishes onto our table. We never got any utensils and plates even after getting majority of our dishes. The waitress kept checking to see if we got all of our food, we kept telling her we weren't sure and to check her tablet. They brought extra food to our table that we didn't order. We never saw the check and just paid for the tab, but thinking about it now, I think we paid for those dishes that we never ordered. The place is nice looking though. High ceilings and comfortable seating. I don't recommend until they get a handle of everything. However, the have other locations and those locations don't seem to have good reviews so I don't think this place will ever get any better as well. read more

First the good. All of the food we ordered was very tasty. The service was very good. -------------- Now the not so good. Aside from the Dumpling appetizer, everything we ordered was room temperature at best. The veggies on our noodle dish were downright cold. The plates they brought out to us when we first got there were 50° at best. Putting lukewarm food on those plates didn't help. The restaurant itself was pretty cold. We asked to see the manager just to give them feedback. The manager couldn't be bothered to come over so they sent someone instead. The place was pretty empty so it's not like the manager was attending to other tables. Unsure why she didn't wanna come talk to us. Again, the place was pretty empty. All the more why I don't understand why the food wasn't hot. When we explained that the food was very tasty, but lukewarm at best, the person who we were talking to didn't seem to care in any way. Bottom line, if you don't mind lukewarm food, this place might be for you. If you prefer your food to be served hot, go elsewhere. read more

We waited about 20 minutes for anyone to speak to us or bring us water. The food was...odd. I ordered the pineapple chicken and was very confused that it was served on ice. Because who wants cold chicken? And it was $25 for a tiny portion. My wife ordered flounder and it was disgusting. No seasoning. We tried the French toast, which is hard to mess up, but it was ruined by sesame seeds on top. Weird flavor combo that did not work. The wait staff was clueless about any of the menu. If this place stays open for a year, I'd be shocked. Overall, this place is overpriced and the food and service are not good. Maybe they will work out the kinks, but I won't be back to see. Waiter took order and never checked on us at all. ( when asked he said he was the only one working(that's no excuse) management should hire adequate staff. Soup dumplings were served without spoons and we had to drink it as waiter was nowhere to be seen the entire meal. The prices are ridiculous for what you get( ie 3 small soup dumplings for $9) I do not see this place lasting more then a few months. The food was not good at all. Everything tasted off, the char sui was so bad that my brother could not eat the food. I was given the wrong order and was told that the dish that I actually ordered was not on the menu despite using their tablet to order. New restuarant that opened up with dim sum. Tried it on a weekend with my family. The woman who seated us was polite and friendly. Upon seating, however, we waited 20-30 minutes for our waiter to give us utensils and water. Looks like they only had 1-2 waiters for that day, but there were not many people at all. When we finally got the food, it looked nothing like in the photos. And it is far from authentic. My husband said he took one bite of the beef curry rice dish and his veggies were still frozen. The dish was served a warm to cool temperature, probably from dumping in frozen veggies that weren't cooked all the way. To top it all off, they forgot one of our orders. I've read other reviews on Google and Yelp, and our review doesn't look any different from the 1 to 2 star reviews on here. Overall, food was at best OK.
