Hmmm.... Good but not good enough. First off: The prices on their online menu doesn't match the prices at the restaurant, be aware. All items are $2 to $3 more expensive in restaurant. Crazy/Drunken noodles are not: They're Chinese Chow Foon, and they weren't that good. Couldn't eat half of it. Scallops in garlic sauce? Avoid The scallops had a funny taste. Stale? Bleh.... And the icing on the cake: The only waitress got into a yelling contest with one of the employees. (owner?). They were screaming at each other and everyone in the dining room could hear it... It reminded me of some episodes of Kitchen Nightmare. I was expecting Gordon Ramsay to come out any minute, but no. Once was enough. It was so interesting that I'm breaking down this review into things that went well and things that have improvement opportunities. What Went Well 1) Complimentary Duck Sauce and wide noodles -you don't see these much any more, and they were addictively good. 2) They have weekend Lunch Specials! In fact they have 28 of them and all are around $10. Five of the 28 are Thai dishes. All lunch specials include a choice of rices and a soup. 3) The food was fantastic! My Hot and Sour soup (even though meatless) was about as jam packed with veggies and egg threads and tofu as any I've had. Very nicely spiced. Simply put, I loved it. My Thai Massaman Curry with Beef was also fantastic. The beef slices were so tender and delicious, the curry sauce was amazing, the vegetables (beans, corn, broccoli, red pepper and some pineapple) were great, and even the brown rice was perfect. What Has Room For Improvement 1) Our dining room experience was marred by how noisy the handful of bar patrons and staff were. The dining room and bar areas are one big open space, only separated by Covid partitions, so the loud yapping from about 20 feet away came rolling over the partitions right at us. We heard non stop chatter from one loud patron talking about driving, her daughter's driver ed, her encounter with a police officer for a speeding violation, and on and on ad nauseum. The chatter included some of the Green Tea staff who apparently didn't think they had other responsibilites, such as clearing off a vacated table, taking our order ("sorry, I didn't know you were there"), or bringing our food out in a timely manner, because 2) Our lunch came out warm, not hot. No doubt it was sitting in the kitchen slowly coming to room temperature while our server was occupied elsewhere. 3) General communication between the host, server and kitchen was poor. We were seated and given menus by the host right away, but he apparently never told our server we were there, and she never peeked into the dining room until I gave her the fish-eyed stare in a gap between the Covid partitions. And then there was the temperature of the food..... So although the food was fantastic, the experience was not. The food saved this from being a 3 star review read more

On a search for best chinese food in the valley and sadly this fell short. We ordered take out with general tso's, singaporean mei fun, and shu mai. General tso's flavor was ok, but had excessive breading. singaporean mei fun was ok as well, though could be more flavorful. The shu mai was the most disappointing. I forgot to take photos but they are NOT the shu mai photos that are on yelp. These were tiny and with questionable filling. Maybe the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to I moved to new Britain from Wallingford a few years ago and new Britain Chinese isn't it at all. Wallingford and Cheshire were the best in my opinion, until I tried green tea out here . The crab Rangoons are so creamy and delicious , plenty of filling , the egg fu young with white rice or the bone in bbq spare ribs with pork fried rice are always the go to for me , I definitely recommend trying this place. read more

I've driven past Green Tea for years, and finally got an opportunity to try it for myself. The outside is a little bland, and I'm not 100% sure they don't have two entrances. The one facing the road will get you fastest to the hostess stand though. It looks like they may have seasonal outdoor seating in the back of the parking lot, but don't hold me to that. The interior dining room is a mix of tables and booths, with enough space where you don't feel like you're on top of another party. It's very subtly decorated, the tables are very crisp and clean. They are a Coke establishment, and also have a big bar available. There were complimentary crisps and sauce provided before the meal. The menu is big, but has so many tasty sounding options! I ultimately tried the Crispy Mayo Shrimp, not 100% knowing what to expect. Maybe not bright orange, but it was delicious! The shrimp were plentiful and well cooked, and the sauce was savory with the walnuts giving a sweet bite. I can't wait to order it again. The restroom is a bit of an adventure, going to the back of the hallway and left. Getting out and turning left is even more so, because there's a pretty consistent line of traffic coming both ways! read more

On a Monday evening when other places were closed, we decided to try Green Tea again to see if it had recaptured its magic from years ago. It hasn't. But all hope isn't lost. We did enjoy several fairly standard dishes like Sesame chicken and firecracker beef. The lo mein is solid and they portion sizes are huge while the prices aren't too bad either. Unfortunately the dumplings are still a miss. Heavy on the dumpling wrapper, the inside felt more like a meatball and the whole thing just doesn't work. It didn't have that homemade feel that others have. The hot and sour soup was also just ok. The fried rice got a little too dried out too and somewhat bland. So three stars seems about right. We decided to give this place a try tonight for a sushi dinner. What a disappointing experience. Crab salad was falsely advertised as-Crunchy Crab Salad" it was not crab it was imitation crab - which is actually pollack fish . It was a small amount on top of lettuce ....at 20.00 for two it was ridiculously over priced for a falsely advertised product . They forgot one of our tuna rolls but didn't forget to charge for it. Unfortunately we didn't realize it until we were 20 minutes down the road. The tuna roll was equal to supermarket sushi - again , a pathetic portion & such tiny little rolls . Lol- they were so small that I commented that they would make great earrings! Spring rolls were ok. All of this wonderful experience for 42.00 dollars. I'm a little late to the party. But I wanted to give some time before reviewing. I had a subpar experience at Green Tea Chinese the day after New Year's Day (2024). I understand they were busy. HOWEVER, the woman running the front was very rude and unapologetic for making me wait an extra hour for my food as I waited. This woman could use some lessons in customer service and congeniality. The food was satisfactory. No complaints there. It's just that the rudeness of the manager/front desk supervisor annoyed me enough that I will only go here if nearby restaurants are closed. I want to give 3 stars, or 2 and a half, but it's just not in the cards for this place. Let's start off, ordered it through delivery service (doordash), which was all well and good (delivered right when they said it would be, no problems with the correct order, ect. ect).. Lo Mein, pork fried rice, egg rolls, and boneless bbq spareribs. Let me start with the ribs, cause that's the only reason for the 3 stars. It was good, not as good as some places, better than others though. For a "large", it was a pretty small portion, good thing/bad thing? Who knows. The rice, flavorless. Completely bland. Quite a bit of soy sauce (which I NEVER add to my rice), and it actually came to life, slightly. The Lo Mein was just about the same, not quite as bad, but it still could have used something to give it more "umph". All in all, if you're in the area and want to over-spend on semi-decent chinese take-out, go for it, otherwise, there are so many other places that will satisfy more. read more

Authentic. The word stands out like an NBA player at a short person's convention. Green Tea is far from a basic Chinese takeout. The specialty items on the menu are way above that, and the popular Chinese-American items are, too. The service is always impeccable, the restaurant is always immaculate and the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. We patronize just two restaurants that share these discerning qualities, and generally wind up uninspired when we go elsewhere. Since we eat Asian regularly, we've become pretty particular about quality and patronizing local businesses. We went for dimsum and they were out of both cheong fun ( rice roll noodle with shrimp) and crystal shrimp dumplings.. two staples of dimsum. I have been eating here since 2008. I do like certain dishes that this establishment makes. Moo Shu Pork is my favorite. Hubby likes his General Tsao's chicken, and kids always get the LoMain. The chicken and broccoli come in a white sauce so I always have to remember to ask for brown sauce. Dumplings are thick too much dough but taste is good. This Chinese restaurant does a good takeout business but has a large dining area. Comfortable seats and a full bar make this a nice restaurant to eat at. The rest of my family likes the steamed dumplings here. Waited 10 minutes for service with no server in sight. Assumed it would be in brown sauce, was not specified at all that there were other sauces as a sort of customizable option but White sauce is their unwritten default. What I received was an undercooked chicken in half steamed / undercooked vegetables drenched in a tasteless, very watery and oily white sauce. No hints of flavor anywhere but oil and a slight bell pepper taste? My partner ordered Kung Pao Tofu w/ Peanut. Tofu is silken, not firm, so it barely holds its form or any flavor from all the fluid already held in it. Assuming it's also non pressed in this case. Not to mention, once again, the lack of flavor period. Not even a hint of salt! If you didn't mention a nondescript addition 'Peanut' into the dish, you would know no better fron the distinct lack of it -_- Needless to say, over $30 wasted. We received a $7 credit for GrubHub when we expressed our dissatisfaction and they refused to allow us to speak to a manager or supervisor. Poor business practice. Last time I went to Green Tea was about three years ago when I wrote the original review. Against my better judgment I mentioned Green Tea in a list of places for dinner tonight and it was all just very sad. Horrible food to say the least and very expensive. Chicken and Walnuts... seemed overly sweet for some reason. The one dish that made us want to come back to this restaurant was gross. Flavor just seemed off and it was pretty greasy. Chicken Pad Thai... the absolute WORST chicken pad thai I've ever had. No fish sauce at all. If it was there it was so light it did nothing for the dish. Poorly made. Soggy noodles. They also add pineapple and really mushy, big chunks of tomato. I've never had pad thai like this and for good reason. It's inedible. Throwing the rest in the trash. Lastly, Chicken and veggies over white rice with Peanut Sauce... again, very bad. Rice tasted old and clumped together. Some of seemed stale. Peanut sauce was a runny mess with hardly any flavor to it. Chicken was ok. No flavor but a lot of it. Pineapple, again with the pineapple. In conclusion I will never return to Greet Tea and I can't even recommend anyone go there to try it for themselves. Expensive, horrible food. Never again. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this place. It's down the street from my new apartment, and I love Chinese food. However, I made a vow to myself to never give my money to those who are rude and cold to me. As a black man in a predominantly white town, I find that I deal with certain stares and attitudes from some that I encounter here. (Even in the year 2024.) It was no different at this restaurant. I had to witness other customers receive very kind and loving interactions while I was consistently made to feel like I was being rushed to exit the premises. Each time I attempted to patron this business, my food was never ready on time, I was never given utensils, even when I specifically asked for them when placing my orders, and there was never any true empathy for my lengthy wait times. I tried to give this place one more attempt, but was greeted by the woman at the front desk, eating a plate of food at the counter. She did not stop to service me until she took a couple more bites of her food. I will never be returning. I'd rather cook at home. The shrimp egg foo yong was pretty solid though. I'll give them that. Everything else was pretty mediocre, and I refused to have mediocre food AND shitty service. You can't have both flaws. Two out of five stars because the shrimp egg young will be missed. Maybe I'll try Mama Khang down the street. read more
