Best chinese spot in and around the area. It's your typical takeout spot so foods ready quickly (15-20 min) and it's fire. Every other spot in town is just not good and its neighbor, Wang, is sub par and over priced. I've tried many different dinners and they're all phenomenal. This has been my go-to place for Chinese food, for about 4 years. A few months back, my husband and I visited, after many months of resisting temptation (trying to eat healthier). We were greeted by a restaurant full of new faces. While ordering, we were informed that the restaurant was under new ownership. We ordered some of the standards, and found that they paled in comparison to our last visit. Tonight, I decided to give the place another try. My husband opted for the Italian place next door. I ordered the C17 (pork & broccoli) and a small chicken finger (to share with the hubby). I have never, had so much fat on my pork, as I had tonight. I know I might've been spoiled by the original owners, but this was bad! I was thankful to be able to eat the broccoli and few slivers of carrot. I don't normally eat the fried rice, but I was hungry, so I tried a few bites. It was flavorless and dry. Now, we come to my reason for buying the combination plate, the egg roll. I should've known when I opened the bag, and oil poured out on my hand, that it wasn't going to be good. I decided to turn the roll over and take a bite from the "dry" side. There was a wad of raw wonton wrapper and the filling was very greasy. There's not much to say about the over cooked chicken fingers, because I could only stomach a few. I want to start out by saying that we newly moved to the area and were excited to have a Chinese place so close. It's apparent that this is a family owned business which I happily support and do not want to impact business for this restaurant however it is important that they and potential customers are aware. Found a bug in my crab Rangoon. Stuff happens... looks like it was folded in? I don't know. It completely grossed out and so glad I looked before eating more of it. I love Moon Star. In terms of food quality and taste, I actually prefer it to its neighboring competitor, Wang. However, it is definitely a take-out joint. If you're looking for a nice sit-down dinner in a pleasant atmosphere, then Wang would be the better option. Their General Tso's chicken is always tasty- perfect combination of crunchy outside, tender and juicy meat inside. My one complaint would be that their pork fried rice is a bit dry, but on the whole the food is really good. read more

Not much to say about this place. I tried it once and was pretty disappointed by the lack of freshness in the ingredients. Especially the vegetables. The meat inside the dumplings and wontons was black and very strange tasting. A little different from what I am used to. With so many Chinese takeout options in the square mile area of this place, it's difficult to understand how a place would be less than competitive with the quality of their ingredients. read more

I have been going to Moon Star for over 20 years. There have been several owners the latest of which is probably the poorest. The food is just average for this type of place. My problem stems from ordering and delivery. In those 20+ years I have usually ordered two of the same items , pork fried rice and beef lo mein ( with a lot of other items). Last night I received beef fried rice instead of the pork which I ordered. When I called to complain the woman who answered insisted I had ordered beef. She would not accept that she might have been in error. I sensed immediately she was never going to admit fault. I'm too busy to argue and there are plenty of other Chinese place that deliver, so seeya Moon Star. read more

Absolutely horrible food! No shredded pork in wonton soup, rice is disgusting, vegetable lomein is basically loaded with onions and a few mushrooms and nothing else, chicken broccoli at least half the chicken inedible as it's essentially shredded so small it cannot be forked, boneless spare ribs are so fatty that half are inedible, terriyaki beef is flavorless and very odd tasting. I've given this dump far too many chances as it's so close to home but tonight was the last straw! I basically eliminated all other choices here because of what I stated except the chicken broccoli because it is tasty. Last 4 visits the chicken as mentioned above was at least half inedible. I looked at it tonight with the remnants of half of it going into the trash along with the rice which was like plastic and said that's it, never again!!! These people are FRIGGIN pigs, the interior is disgusting, and they obviously could care less about what they're serving.
