Quick and friendly service. Delicious menu options and lots of parking in the back. Pho broth is very flavorful and gives a good portion size.

Pho and spice. Just kidding, if I remember correctly, it's the Bo Vien Pho.

Cheshire has come a long way ever since I was a kid. Now, there's a pho place downtown. Parking downtown is still as awful as ever, but if you can get one of the few spots here, sit down for a wonderful meal. Like many pho places, they have many Asian soups and dishes. But, like any place with a dish in the name, I've got to try the namesake. It did not disappoint, and on a cold night, it wasn't long before that bowl of soup was warming me from the inside. I'm no authority on pho, but I will say this one of the better ones I've had.

A little gem in Cheshire... what some people may refer to as little "hole in the wall" eatery... others may refer to it as a hidden gem. The family/staff are always friendly and they always remember everyone! The menu is pretty vast from spice palettes (Thai and Vietnamese cultures) and is always great tasting and served hot! The restaurant gets busy on weekends (Fridays & Saturday nights) so be prepared for a bit of a wait as everything is cooked to order! If you're not up for a leisurely dinner- you can always do a takeout order! Other than that it's a great place to meet up and enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner with friends and family!!

Found our new go-to place for pho! My husband and I have wanted to try Pho & Spice for a while and it exceeded our expectations. We dined in on a week night after running errands. The restaurant wasn't busy and the staff were nice and tentative. We parked in the back parking lot of the building and entered from their back entrance. The staff let us seat ourselves anywhere we liked. The dining room felt open with a lot of natural light coming through the large windows that looked out towards the street. There were various size tables that would fit small to large parties. Pho & Spice's menu had a lot of Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and other Asian dishes. They have much more than pho! They had a lot of noodle dishes like ramen, vermicelli, stir-fry noodle, and they had their own specialty entrees. To start, we ordered the Roti Canai, a thin Indian flat bread served with Thai curry sauce. The curry sauce was delicious with warm spices and the grilled flatbread had a robust flavor. We would definitely order this appetizer again. For dinner, my husband and I ordered Pho. My husband got the Tai which was beef broth and rare steak. I got the vegetarian pho called Pho Chay that had tofu, vegetable broth, and assortment of veggies (carrot, mushrooms, peppers, broccoli, and more). The pho came with the usual toppings like bean sprouts, lime, Thai basil, and sauces. We loved the pho that we preferred it over our usual pho spot. The broth was flavorful and not too salty. The noodles were perfect, we liked the thickness of the noodle and weren't over cooked. I never been able to finish my bowl of pho and was stuffed. Wished I had left room for dessert because they had Mango Sticky Rice which is one of my faves. I also found out they have hot tea, iced tea and even boba. My husband enjoyed the meal so much that he already planned what he will try next time (Pad Thai). So there you have it, it's husband approved!

Nice servers--always friendly and welcoming. Been here 15+ times; budget-friendly at around $20 per person. Food tastes good, definitely a solid spot for Vietnamese cuisine.

Quick trip to just outside of Hartford and found this little place. Wish I had more time to try more things but the Pho and Spring Roll were great, I'll get a better review when I get back up in the area, but I will be back!

Pho and spice and everything nice.... Not too much stood out to make it that 5 stars. I didn't hate it but it wasn't my favorites that I would make it down too. Good section of the menu . I ordered a bubble green tea. Good flavor. Kinda sad it didn't come in a to go cup or a large straw for the Boba. So I left some of it behind after my lunch break was over and didn't get to enjoy any of the Bobo's because it was a regular sized straw. Ordered raw steak pho. They said just like pho should taste... Nothing special to point out.

Got em just at closing time. VIP for me

I tried this place a couple of times and to me they're just ok. Meh..... I tried this place a few times in 2019 in September, October & November. I had the pho with beef balls and I've also had the spicy miso ramen. The pho was ok. So bland. Unfortunately like Campbell's chicken noodle soup which it reminded me and a friend of. On the other hand the spicy must ramen was quite good and refreshing. Such depth and richness of flavor. Way better than the pho. Service is decent. Could be a little more attentive and around a little more often but nothing horrible. Very clean restaurant. I was here prior to the pre covid-19 pandemic.

Such a cute place with really amazing staff!!! We went a little late and they still seated us and gave us amazing service. They even refilled both out boba teas (which were really good and had a generous portion of tapioca)!! I had the Bun Bo Hue pho, it was such a rich and hearty soup and the meat was cooked so perfectly it practically fell apart! We also had spring rolls it was also delicious! Please come here.

We stopped in yesterday for dinner as we passed and thought it looked like a good place to try. The decor is welcoming and the servers are friendly and attentive. They had a big party getting started and it was a really fun atmosphere! The food was very good and reasonably priced. We will be back!

It was a humble reminder that you don't need to go to a culinary destination to find good food. Cheshire Connecticut may not be known for its food scene, however, I found Sakana was a genuine diamond in the rough. My expectations were admittedly low going in. My level of skepticism is always high when I see the "Asian Bistro" moniker, as it is frequently used for restaurants to try to appeal to the masses at the expense of quality by having a "jack-of-all-trades" menu that lacks the technical intricacies and mastery required for specific dishes. Additionally, these establishments tend to follow a "cookie-cutter" menu and offer the same boring dishes you can find at every other Asian Bistro. Even when initially walking towards the restaurant, I had my doubts. The exterior of Sakana honestly looked more like a clinic than a restaurant. Once I saw the menu however, my skepticism shifted towards optimism. For a local bistro, they feature a surprisingly extensive wine and cocktail menu, including premium sake options. I was particularly impressed to find toro on the menu; although it's undoubtedly becoming more of a trend in Connecticut, I was nevertheless happy to see it offered at Sakana as well. Overall I liked their sushi selections and everything I ordered was well-prepared and tasted fresh. We ordered a chicken and broccoli for our daughter and found the chicken tender and broccoli perfectly cooked. That may not sound impressive to those reading, but you'll be surprised how many restaurants fail to execute this baseline dish correctly. The service, although pleasant, was probably the only "weak link" of our experiences here. The quality of service was noticeably inconsistent between our two visits, and they would benefit vastly from having a more reliable and experienced front-of-house team to match the execution coming from the kitchen and sushi bar. Despite this minor gripe, Sakana was a standout. As long as I'm in the area, they will definitely be among the top of my list of places to eat!

So friendly. Is the food exceptional? To me no, but my parents enjoy it. Tonight we started with crab rangoons. Pretty good. Sauce on the side not very exciting. A chili sauce would be better. I got a sushi roll with White tuna inside and cooked shrimp on top and wasabi mayo. I forget the name of the roll but it was better than the two times I've ordered takeout. Miso soup was also good. Their soup bowls are in the shape of a heart which is super cute. Dad got some sort of a mixed protein dish with brown sauce (had shrimp, chicken and beef). Mom got the chicken and garlic sauce. They both got fried rice on the side. I tried it and it was very bland. Dad also got a salad with his meal and the ginger dressing was not very good. Red coloring to it. Usually ginger dressing is more on the orange side. Dad also got the Malaysian chicken coconut soup to start and it could use a bit more flavor. Was a bit watery. Mom loved her sweet and sour soup. Nice that this place is 5 minutes away. Cheshire needs more restaurants. Def not my fav restaurant in town though. Food to me is just ok.

Let it Be is a chic, cozy little hole in the wall spot on Dixwell which although you can easily miss, you won't want to because it's a legend of a Thai restaurant. AMBIANCE - 8/10 When you walk inside, you're greeted by a familiar friendly smile (? one of the owners) before being seated amongst brightly colorful interior decor. They play relaxing Thai classics and sometimes switch it up with familiar and vibey pop songs. It's a small space, but is never overcrowded, and there's conveniently plenty of parking in the back. FOOD - 9/10 The food here is incredible. I've tried multiple Thai places in and around the New Haven/Hamden area and Let it Be has got them all beat. Not only are the flavors authentic and high quality, but prices are fair and the dishes are well-portioned. Best of all, they're made with so much heart. Every bite has felt like a journey back home to South East Asia. SERVICE - 9/10 The service here has been phenomenal. Our friendly server is welcoming, prompt, and responsive to our needs. When a dish we asked for wasn't available, he took the time to find similar dishes for us. He also takes the time to make friendly conversation and share with us the history of some of the special dishes. Visits here always just feel like a pitstop at a friendly neighbor's. The only thing is that it can take a bit of time for the food to come out, which is natural as the dishes are likely made to order. OVERALL - 9/10 From the Thai staples (pad thai, red and green curries) to the more avant garde (larb kai but in a bánh mì / hoagie style sandwich?! woah!), this place does it all the right way. If you couldn't tell by now, this is my absolute favorite Thai place and I could not recommend it enough. Ally's Recs: Pad Thai (8/10) - cannot go wrong with a classic Pad See Ewe (9/10) - another classic! tastes great with a squeeze of lime Let it Be Thai Curry (9/10) - delicious house curry; they combo the curries well to create a creamy sweet and savory mixture that always leaves you wanting more Thai Tea (8/10) - if you're down for a treat, the condensed milk hits every time! One got the sense that the other diners that evening felt much the same way. It was a weeknight, and with a lower customer load than might be the case on a Friday or weekend, she had ample time to spend with each party, regaling us all with fun conversation. It goes without saying that the company in one's own party makes a whale of a difference, and in that regards I could not have asked for better. This is to take nothing away from the food, which was absolutely delicious, flavorful and mercifully not too spicy - our aging gastrointestinal systems are sadly just not up for the violent torment from a chilli assault like when we were younger, and felt invincible. The mango rice dessert - enough for two to split - was sublime. And the town of Naugy itself - for both of us an unknown quantity til that evening despite having whizzed past it a ton on Route 8, hammering down the famous Naugahyde River Valley - is intriguing. Naugatuck offers gorgeous and fascinating architecture from the last two centuries at least, evidence of thriving mill-driven industry in years past, very easy access from the highway, and lots of close on-street parking, at least on a Thursday evening. Once they moved, I was seated right away, which I appreciated. There were a few cleanliness and service issues that took away from the experience. We also didn't have napkins or silverware at the table initially, so I grabbed napkins from the other side of the restaurant to wipe the table.
