So stopped in to Pho and Spice for quick lunch. The location is good size and very cozy feel. Perhaps it was more intimate at this time due to Valentine's Day decorations for the weekend. My craving for Tom Yum soup and summer rolls were completely satisfied. The soup was loaded with fresh ingredients including mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, scallions, cilantro and lemongrass! Pho & Spice is a very nice and eclectic Thai restaurant in Cheshire. It looks like there's no parking from Main Street but there's a small driveway that goes to the back where there is a private lot with ample parking. The restaurant stocks all tables with Thai staples like chop sticks, napkins, soy, plum sauce, Sriracha sauce, and my favourite, black Chili oil. I've had their PHO before and it's good, perhaps not my favourite in the State, but still delicious. Likewise, I've had their Ramen and it is really good. But I'm trying to watch my salt these days, so on my most recent trip, I ordered spicy eggplant with shrimp for the protein. The portion are ample, and very flavorful. The presentation is beautiful. The vegetables were cooked but crisp which is perfect. That dish was not particularly spicy, despite its name, but like I mentioned, there's black chilli oil at the table. The eggplants I say were just a tad overcooked unfortunately. They still tasted great so maybe that was a technique to make sure they didn't fall apart in the dish because eggplants are a little delicate. All in all, it was a wonderful impromptu dinner while shopping in town. The service is excellent, and the hostess/waitress that has been there every time I've gone in is very nice and friendly. Cheshire has come a long way ever since I was a kid. Now, there's a pho place downtown. Parking downtown is still as awful as ever, but if you can get one of the few spots here, sit down for a wonderful meal. Like many pho places, they have many Asian soups and dishes. But, like any place with a dish in the name, I've got to try the namesake. It did not disappoint, and on a cold night, it wasn't long before that bowl of soup was warming me from the inside. Food is fresh, delicious and interesting. It's a good restaurant for families because it has menu choices that kids like. For example: they like almost anything on a stick like beef or chicken (because it doesn't touch any sauces). Scallion pancakes are popular for both children and adults. Sticky rice is liked by even the fussiest children. Service is usually quick except when it's very crowded-- but they still get the food out fast enough. Found our new go-to place for pho! My husband and I have wanted to try Pho & Spice for a while and it exceeded our expectations. We dined in on a week night after running errands. The restaurant wasn't busy and the staff were nice and tentative. We parked in the back parking lot of the building and entered from their back entrance. The staff let us seat ourselves anywhere we liked. The dining room felt open with a lot of natural light coming through the large windows that looked out towards the street. There were various size tables that would fit small to large parties. Pho & Spice's menu had a lot of Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and other Asian dishes. They have much more than pho! They had a lot of noodle dishes like ramen, vermicelli, stir-fry noodle, and they had their own specialty entrees. To start, we ordered the Roti Canai, a thin Indian flat bread served with Thai curry sauce. The curry sauce was delicious with warm spices and the grilled flatbread had a robust flavor. We would definitely order this appetizer again. For dinner, my husband and I ordered Pho. My husband got the Tai which was beef broth and rare steak. I got the vegetarian pho called Pho Chay that had tofu, vegetable broth, and assortment of veggies (carrot, mushrooms, peppers, broccoli, and more). The pho came with the usual toppings like bean sprouts, lime, Thai basil, and sauces. We loved the pho that we preferred it over our usual pho spot. The broth was flavorful and not too salty. The noodles were perfect, we liked the thickness of the noodle and weren't over cooked. I never been able to finish my bowl of pho and was stuffed. Wished I had left room for dessert because they had Mango Sticky Rice which is one of my faves. I also found out they have hot tea, iced tea and even boba. This place has been here a while but we recently just discovered it. What a great restaurant. There are so many choices on the menu. I had the crazy udon which was delicious. Friends of ours had some fried rice choices, one being salmon. We also tried the fried green bean appetizer. Everyone we have brought here can't wait to come back again. I ordered a bubble green tea. Good flavor. Kinda sad it didn't come in a to go cup or a large straw for the Boba. So I left some of it behind after my lunch break was over and didn't get to enjoy any of the Bobo's because it was a regular sized straw. Ordered raw steak pho. I tried this place a couple of times and to me they're just ok. Meh..... I tried this place a few times in 2019 in September, October & November. I had the pho with beef balls and I've also had the spicy miso ramen. The pho was ok. So bland. Unfortunately like Campbell's chicken noodle soup which it reminded me and a friend of. On the other hand the spicy must ramen was quite good and refreshing. Such depth and richness of flavor. Way better than the pho. Service is decent. Very few restaurants are able to serve two ethnic foods well. Pho spice achieved that between their Vietnamese and Thai offerings We started off with a summer roll with shrimp and roti canaj. Wow who would've thought! A pretty decent Thai spot in Connecticut?! I came here with my parents and I have to say it's comparable to the Thai food I get in Queens, New York (which is pretty darn authentic). The papaya salad was nice and tangy, the kimchi fried rice (lol my parents ordered this) was also good, and in general portion size was very generous. I guess this is true for every place outside NYC, but you def get your dollars' worth here. I got the chicken larb order to go, and it's still pretty dang amazing even after the car ride back. If you're in the mood for something Asian, this is the place for you! Located right in the center of Cheshire, it's hard to miss the shop as it's right in front and near many busy intersections like Cheshire academy, stop n shop, etc. Although parking may seem a bit tricky (located behind the shop, must go through and around the alleyway), it gives way to the cozy private atmosphere the restaurant surrounds itself with and away from all the busy city noise. There are two entrances, the back entrances I would say is not very accommodating for those who might be disabled or handicapped so I would suggest going through the front if you think going down (a little steep) stairway to reach the dining area might be a problem for you. Aside from that, the room is beautifully decorated on theme and the large windows offer lots of natural sunlight. The shop offers lunch specials if you are lucky to catch it at that time, although I noticed that while some dishes are unique tailored for the lunchtime, often enough they will serve bigger sized portions as dinner sets. I decided to try out the kimchi fried rice set - and although it is Korean in nature due to the usage of kimchi, the flavor it was cooked was uniquely southeast Asian - it made it into a very nice fusion of both east/southeast Asian dish. It does run a little salty but I would say, less spicy than you would think - especially if you have had true Korean kimchi fried rice. We also tried the beef macadamia and surprisingly, this was served on a hot cast-iron plate so the beef and sautéed veggies came in sizzling hot! Served with rice, this dish was a great blend of savory and sweet ! We also enjoyed some Thai ice tea to go along and it was delicious! The waitstaff were wonderfully and quick to take our orders, and refill our waters. Can't wait to come back again! read more

Have been to the New Haven location a couple of times so this is a nice addition to Cheshire, especially since it's filling the hole left by prior Thai restaurant. We ordered the Pho Mi Hoanh Thanh with dumplings and roast pork and the pad se ew along with a Thai iced tea. The soup was good. The pad was very good. Hopefully they'll get their staffing issues under control. They were closed a few times they should've been open. The owner told me that they just didn't have enough help. You can't really run a successful business if you're not reliable so again, I hope they figure that out because the food was good and it's a nice addition to town. read more

Sorry!** After I began dating someone who lives an hour away, we decided it would be a good idea to find a few places in the middle where we could meet. I suggested that Cheshire might be the perfect halfway point, and I asked if she knew any good restaurants in Cheshire that have vegan options. She suggested Pho & Spice. I scoped out the menu online, and sure enough, like many Asian restaurants, Pho & Spice seemed to have a good selection of vegan options, so I said sure! The first thing I noticed when we walked in was that there were several people wearing masks, both employees and patrons. My date asked if we should get masks and I was all like "LOL! Nope!" And I fully expected they might ask us to put one on but they did not. Pheww! I had not yet explained to my date that I wasn't willing to wear a mask. We ordered our food and a couple appetizers to share. I ordered the massaman curry and summer rolls. I forget what my date ordered...some sort of soup that sounded difficult to pronounce, and an order of spring rolls. The food came out quickly and everything looked so good and colorful, I had to snap a few pictures. The meal was amazing, the food delicious. Although the food for us has been consistently good, The service was great when it first opened and Not sure if ownership had changed but the quality of service slipped pretty bad. Recently went there in a group of 10 and Nate, the new guy was awesome. He was so attentive and even made small talk with the kids which is a big plus for any parents. Gosh do I love Asian food. This spot was honestly so satisfying. It was freezing cold out and rainy and i wanted comforting food and whats better then asian food? NOTHING! I don't remember exactly what I got but =whatever it was i remember it being so good and super filling. my honey had some sort of soup that he was so glad about and i did taste it and even though it was amazing i think my choice was better lol. We tried some appetizers one was crab ragoons of course and the other was fresh spring rolls. I don't know how the sauces are even made but they are sooooo good. The service was fast and wonderful. The place was clean and easy to get to. Food was exceptional ! This was my first visit and I ordered the shrimp coconut soup and a pork vermecelli bowl with a spring roll. The food was expertly prepared and had all the authentic spice ingredients. The restaurant itself sits on a strange corner off the main drag in Cheshire. I visited after dark and struggled to find the parking lot out back up a side street alley where there is a second entrance. The inside was pleasant except for the ice cold air conditioning. I almost didn't stay because it was so chilly inside.. the outside temperature was only 65 and I didn't have a long sleeve shirt or sweater with me in the car.... but I decided to brave it out being so hungry after a lengthy road trip. I do agree that the Crab Rangoon is delicious. The crust is light and crisp. It practically melts in your mouth. I would order that again for sure! What a gem. I am ashamed to say that I have lived within minutes of Pho & Spice for years and had never visited. My husband and I were out doing Christmas shopping and got hangry and decided to visit late on a Saturday afternoon. My first impression: he dining room is immaculately clean and the staff was extremely friendly. We split the pineapple fried rice that was absolutely outstanding -- the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I got the chicken pho and my husband got the miso ramen. My pho was really, really good. The noodles were perfect, the broth was very flavorful, and the highlight was the sprouts, basil, and fresh lime toppings they served with it. My husband, who really likes spicy food, ordered the ramen with one chili pepper worth of heat. It was VEEERRRY spicy. They make their own chili oil and it was such a robust heat that next time he thinks he will get that on the side and add it in gradually. Portions were ample and the overall vibe was terrific.
