The broth was flavorful and not too salty or sweet. I didn't have to add any hoisin sauce or siracha; I only added in a squeeze of lime. The sliced beef could have been a bit more tender, but it was still enjoyable. The meatballs, however, were tender. I loved the addition of the fried garlic, and it definitely elevated the broth. I was greeted by a nice young woman who provided friendly and attentive service. There were a number of items on the menu that looked enticing but I had to get pho since it's in their name. I ordered the beef pho. It was a good-sized bowl with adequate beef and plenty of noodles. The broth however was outstanding! I usually put Sriracha in my pho. Since pho was in the name, I got a House Pho. I also ordered their App Sampler. The pho was about average. The broth didn't really pop for me flavor-wise. The noodles were a bit overcooked. The meat, veggie ingredients, and accoutrements were pretty good. I liked the App Sampler better than the Pho. My favorite parts were the curry puffs and the money bags. The choice of three dipping sauces was a nice touch. Inside was fine, but not really a selling point. Service was OK. I love that I found this place!! Since moving in the area I been looking for a reliable Thai food restaurant. The first few times I ordered take out from a delivery app and they instantly became a favorite take out in a rainy or snowy days. I have also dine in and always have to get their crispy roll. I've been coming to this restaurant for many years and my last two visits have been unpleasant. I was charged for extra meat that I never received. Normally, they would put it on the side for me but this time the chef said it was underneath the jungle curry and believe me, I searched, and I only found a small! handful of chicken. Got drunken noodles with chicken for takeout. I did 4/5 for spice level and it was a good level of spice, which I appreciate since most places don't actually make their food spicy. The flavor was also good. I think this is one of the best places I've had drunken noodles in CT thus far. read more

Labor-day. Should've known most places are closed or packed. Pho Zaaap was open, we stumbled upon this restaurant as we were driving around. Pho Zaaap has a large parking lot, and as we walked in only one couple had just paid the bill and was leaving. It is a nice size restaurant, with a simple but inviting decor. We ordered Pho, Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Spicy Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon. The service was quick, and the dishes were of good size, and taste. It was nice to eat here on Labor-day 2021. While driving through East New Haven, saw this sign for a Pho place so had to stop as was craving Asian food. It's a nice little place with their own parking lot, and the building is on the side overlooking the main road. Wait staff is pretty quick and once seated they immediately brought us the menu which is actually a mixture of both Vietnamese and Thai food. After studying the elaborate menu, we decide to go with the appetizer sampler, which has spring rolls, crab rangoons, curry puffs, ad something called a lady's bag. Since they were deep fried it kind of filled us up, but as a starter it was the right call. For our main dishes we order the Spicy Red Snapper special and Basil squid with vegetables. The Snapper was awesome, had a nice sweet tangy taste to it and actually both the helpings were of decent size and we could not finish them both. For the price and the taste of the food, you can't go wrong. Didn't try their Pho, but that's something for the next time I am there. read more

A hidden gem! We dined in and the food was so fresh and served nice and hot. Service was done with a smile...under a mask of course :-) We started with a few appetizers which were all phenomenal. I got the beef pho and the broth was fantastic. The beef slices were still pink in the middle when served and cooked nicely in the hot broth. Some of the beef slices were a bit thicker than what I prefer, but that would be my only complaint if I had one. My husband got the Rad Nar and we were both amazed and delighted with the amount of seafood it contained, and it had great flavor. Not going to lie, but my friends and I had visited this place last minute given we found out we had showed up to Buffalo Wild Wings for a free-wing school event night on the wrong day. We were sooo hungry and rapidly Yelped for nearby places and Pho Zaaap popped up! First, be aware that this restaurant is mainly Thai, but they did serve the Vietnamese pho soup. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers and the posted pics, I was intrigued by the Yentafo soup and ended up getting it. The waitress was nice to answer my questions about this soup and reassured that I'd like it. Oh boy she was right! I never had this type of soup before. It's a fermented pink tofu soup with thick rice noodles, rich broth, veggies, and seafood! It was a bit salty for my liking, but it does not mean I would not get this again! My two friends got pho and Thai fried rice and they loved their meals as well. We had good service with us being checked on and our drinks being refilled! My daughter usually gets take out from here, but we were out shopping and decided to eat in. Food is very fresh and homemade. Portion sizes are generous and we always get at least two meals out of each portion. Today we also tried the chicken crispy rolls and the Crab Rangoon. The wrappers are all homemade and nicely thin and light. The Crab Rangoon was fabulous! I think I prefer the normal veggie spring rolls to the chicken rolls. My daughter loves the Pad See-Eaw with the flat noodles and adds chicken. My sister had the Pad Thai with pork, chicken, and tofu. They also make their chili oil homemade! This is the closest Thai restaurant to my house. I didn't know they had vegan options until I saw the reviews here. They have a good selection of vegetarian and a few vegan options. I opted for take-out order and tried the pad thai and vegan fried rice from here. They don't have any vegan appetizers. This review is about two weeks after our visit, but I wanted to be sure to circle back because we had a delicious lunch at Pho Zaap.  We came in shortly after 1pm on a Saturday and there were only a handful of people seated in the restaurant so we were able to sit wherever we wanted.  The service was prompt, polite, and our waitress was quick to answer any of our menu questions. I enjoyed the Chicken Thai Fried Fice, and not only was it fantastic, but to call the portion size generous would be an understatement.  I usually have a pretty hefty appetite but I my leftovers spanned two additional work lunches--which was an added bonus plus it makes the case for a great value meal.
