    Dumplings

Have been visited this restaurant for many years ago before Covid and now I knew they changed new management and would like to try. Restaurant was busy and the Owner gave me try dumpling free she very nice . And main dish I like lo main noodles wit spicy sauce was delicious and my husband tested for Garlic Fried Rice not much greasy mixed and matched with my noodles so yummy you have to try it.

    Khao Soy Soup

So delicious! I ordered the khao soy and it was the perfect amount of noodle to broth ratio, the broth was rich and creamy but also spicy. My only complaint is that I ordered Thai spicy but it was pretty mild to me. They do have additional peppers/ chillin oil to add if you love spice like I do. I also had the house salad and the peanut dressing was delicious. Will def be coming back!

I ordered a shrimp pad Thai today and a Thai Iced Tea. The shrimp pad Thai was okay. In my opinion it was way too sweet and the noodles appeared to be a little dry. I personally have had better.

    Mango Sticky Rice

Love the food here! the soup and rice was served hot, the papaya salad was fresh and flavorful. Mango sticky rice was creamy, and rich of coconut milk. Hope the restaurant can bring out more the flavor and spiciness of Tom yum

I was looking forward to trying Koon Thai because of the reviews but was disappointed by the experience. Our food took over 40 minutes to arrive, and one of the dishes (fried rice) had the wrong type of meat (chicken instead of pork). My friend just accepted it because he didn't want to wait even longer for his food. I tried the three flavor curry with tofu, and while the tofu was nicely cooked and there were a decent number of vegetables, the string beans were undercooked and the portion of rice, while generous, was unevenly cooked with gloppy parts. I tasted my friends' drunken noodles and fried rice, and they didn't taste quite right. The fried rice was somehow kind of wet, and the flavor of the drunken noodles didn't taste anything like that of other drunken noodles we've had. It tasted as if both dishes had been seasoned with a bouillon cube broth rather than the proper flavorings. At the end, my friend who received the wrong dish was charged for the more expensive option he had ordered. When he contested the charge, he was told that the chef made pork in a way that made it look like chicken. (It was very clearly white chicken meat, and the server eventually updated the charge.) I would not recommend coming here due to the poor quality of food and slow food preparation.

    Yellow curry with pork

In town for the school's family weekend. We waited a little for our table as we had 7 people in our party and didn't call for a reservation on a Friday night. Not too bad on the wait. Food: very decent food. We ordered yellow curry with pork, red curry with beef, and pineapple fried rice with shrimp, and Thai ice tea. The beef is a bit over cooked but the rest of the food was delicious. The fried rice is my favorite. It has curry mixed in with the fried rice and gave a good flavor. The spicy level of the curry was just perfect for me. We ordered an extra serving of rice to go with the curry. We left the restaurant satisfied with full stomached, and there was a line waiting for tables.

    2 pork bao ($4.95)

I ordered Koon via delivery, and I appreciated their large menu, which contained a few more interesting or different dishes than your average Thai restaurant. I ultimately got some pork bao, Kana Moo Krab, and chicken with cashew nut. The pork bao were average - a little small for the price, in my opinion. The Kana, which I asked medium spicy, was super duper spicy. I couldn't even finish it. The crispy pork was hot very flavorful (especially since I didn't want to use too much sauce). My husband enjoyed his cashew nut, which has a good portion of both protein and veggies. Maybe I just picked the wrong thing. I'd likely try them again because at least one dish was good.

Shhh, don't tell anyone!…read more But also tell everyone you know! Let it Be is a chic, cozy little hole in the wall spot on Dixwell which although you can easily miss, you won't want to because it's a legend of a Thai restaurant. AMBIANCE - 8/10 When you walk inside, you're greeted by a familiar friendly smile (? one of the owners) before being seated amongst brightly colorful interior decor. They play relaxing Thai classics and sometimes switch it up with familiar and vibey pop songs. It's a small space, but is never overcrowded, and there's conveniently plenty of parking in the back. FOOD - 9/10 The food here is incredible. I've tried multiple Thai places in and around the New Haven/Hamden area and Let it Be has got them all beat. Not only are the flavors authentic and high quality, but prices are fair and the dishes are well-portioned. Best of all, they're made with so much heart. Every bite has felt like a journey back home to South East Asia. SERVICE - 9/10 The service here has been phenomenal. Our friendly server is welcoming, prompt, and responsive to our needs. When a dish we asked for wasn't available, he took the time to find similar dishes for us. He also takes the time to make friendly conversation and share with us the history of some of the special dishes. Visits here always just feel like a pitstop at a friendly neighbor's. The only thing is that it can take a bit of time for the food to come out, which is natural as the dishes are likely made to order. OVERALL - 9/10 From the Thai staples (pad thai, red and green curries) to the more avant garde (larb kai but in a bánh mì / hoagie style sandwich?! woah!), this place does it all the right way. If you couldn't tell by now, this is my absolute favorite Thai place and I could not recommend it enough. Ally's Recs: Pad Thai (8/10) - cannot go wrong with a classic Pad See Ewe (9/10) - another classic! tastes great with a squeeze of lime Let it Be Thai Curry (9/10) - delicious house curry; they combo the curries well to create a creamy sweet and savory mixture that always leaves you wanting more Thai Tea (8/10) - if you're down for a treat, the condensed milk hits every time! Longan Juice / Tea (7/10) - refreshing and comes with a bunch of juicy longans on top. such a unique offering!

Hopefully they're doing a big takeout business because we were the only ones inside for dinner. Granted it was 8:30pm, but they are open until midnight. They were accommodating by turning the heat up on this chilly night. They also put on current Thai music for us after we asked about the American music being played. They offered my wife a syrupy lychee drink on the house to take care of the extra heat that she wasn't expecting. They put a bit of a different spin on their version of some popular dishes so don't be mad if it's not what you get at other Thai restaurants. Check out our pics. It was all excellent!

Admittedly I've never tried their Thai curries so I can't comment. My first trip here was to try the Pho. It was good, but it was on subsequent trips that I explored their Yums. Today I had Nam Khou which was crunchy rice, scallions, cilantro, and Laos sausage pieces served with romaine lettuce leaves on the side of the plate. I took that to mean I should scoop some of the dish into each leaf and it was delightful. While it is supposed to be two peppers hot, according to the menu, it was not but it was very flavorful nonetheless. You can always scoop some black chilli oil on top as they graciously keep condiments at each table. I also tried the summer rolls again. Now my favourite summer rolls used to be the ones in West Hartford with crispy pork and shrimp in them. However, I will say just the plain shrimp ones were wonderful. One nice touches they provide a little espresso spoon in the peanut sauce so you can scoop it's on top of each bite without having to dip and have it fall apart. The CREW was kind of quiet today but I came in mid afternoon so they were catching up on other stuff. However, the service was still great. I almost hate leaving this review because this is like my private spot that no one knows about. That's about to change.

What was not good was the notable discrepancy in price on the website versus the actual prices. So, this review is a PSA because Thai Spice really needs to rectify this immediately and get all of its sites updated. At the time of our order two weeks ago (and at the time that I am writing this review), the website https://thaispiceauthentic.com/ and the PDF menu hyperlink on that website (and the Order Now hyperlinks on the site) all reflect outdated prices. If you access the business via the https://www.yumdthaicuisine.com/ site (immediately confusing because this does not appear to be the current restaurant name, and the sign outside the restaurant says Thai Spice) or if you Google the restaurant and access the Toast site to order, you will get the current, actual prices. But these are way too many variables for a customer to reasonably navigate or to know what is accurate. We ordered the following: - Thai Sampler - We expected to pay $14.96/99 (two prices, one on the PDF and one via the Order Now link); the actual current price is an astounding $22.50 ($15 was a good deal, we thought; $22.50 is not--not for what you get) - Chicken Pad Thai - We expected to pay $13.96/99; the actual price is $14.95 - Yellow Curry - $13.96/99; actual price, $14.95 - Sticky Rice - $3.00; actual price, $4.00 A difference of over $10.
