Super yummy. I stopped in here for lunch yesterday with a coworker after she recommended it. It was a really great lunch. We each started with a bubble tea (mine was taro). I then got the lunch special that came with two crab rangoons, veggie massaman curry and veggie phad thai. (I would have loved to have tried the chicken, but it was a Friday during Lent). Those crab rangoons were quite possibly the best ones I've ever had. Although we were both getting pretty full, we couldn't help ourselves and finished it all. INCREDIBLY RUDE. Called in my order. Woman who answered was screaming into the phone. I figured a busy Monday night. After she repeated my order, I asked her what is in one of the dishes. She referred me to their website. I explained I was driving. She then doubled one of the meals on the order, took my phone number and hung up. I thought about the level of rudeness I had just experienced and a few minutes later called to cancel my order. The woman answered, yelled something and the line went dead. I thought I was in a bad phone area and called right back to confirm my cancellation. Once again, the woman picked up, yelled and hung up the phone. I have ordered from them since they opened. My mom and I get take out from IThai every time I'm in town visiting. Food is delicious, we'll prepared, and servings are generous. My favorite are the chicken curry puffs and drunken noodles. The Kuai-Tiao Rad Na is also super yummy and I get multiple meals out of each entree. Highly recommended!! read more

So glad we found this place! Everything was incredible. Best drunken noodles my husband has ever had, good flavor and spice. We got a bunch of appetizers (see my photos), all of which were so delicious. Red curry was spicy and flavorful. Pad Thai wasn't the best I've ever had, but still good. Sesame beef was awesome (better than any Chinese restaurant we've tried from around here). Tried 3 different bubble teas Bc I couldn't decide which one I wanted. Husband likes the coconut the best, I liked the taro the best; and you can't ever go wrong with Thai iced tea. This will be our go to Thai place from now on. Yum!!! Take out Duck drunken noodle & an order of sticky rice lasted me 2.5 meals. Lunch special price is really good. Service was friendly but a little slow. I think the cashier that rang me up was in training. I asked if I can get my meal with less oil and less salt but I think she forgot after she said they can do that. Guilford's third Thai restaurant is "as good as it gets!" We've been frequenting one of the other Thai restaurants in town for the past couple of years, but our first experience at iThai will instead have us coming back here for more. AMBIENCE (3.5 stars): The tiny restaurant is located in a strip shopping center in which a dry cleaner, bakery, Dunkin Donuts, and take-out pizza place have store fronts. From the exterior, it has less charm than the other two Thai restaurants in town. The inside, however, is clean and modern. With brightly colored walls and funky light fixtures, it has a trendy, hip vibe. Seating is very limited - there are just four or five booths, a few tables, and a couple of seats at the counter near the kitchen. While small, we really liked the modern look and feel. SERVICE (5 stars): The waitstaff and kitchen staff are friendly and attentive. When we arrived, all of the tables were full, so we sat at the counter/bar. The restaurant was incredibly busy - every table was full; a large group was celebrating a special occasion; and a steady flow of take-out orders kept the crew busy. Even though the restaurant was slammed, we were served in a timely manner, and our waitress always had a smile on her face. FOOD (4.5 stars): Overall, the food was excellent. All of the vegetables were fresh and crisp. The dishes were served fresh out of the skillet and piping hot. Because we were seated at the counter, we saw each of our meals prepared start to finish and can attest that everything is homemade to order. 1. Fresh Roll with Shrimp (5 stars, $6.95): Appropriately named, everything in this roll is deliciously fresh with a nice crunch. Vegetables (carrots, mixed greens), rice vermicelli, shrimp, and herbs (mint?) are wrapped in soft rice paper. The presentation is beautiful, and the special dipping sauce is the perfect compliment. The portion is generous, so this dish is great to share as an appetizer! Nothing is fried, so the fresh roll is also a very healthy option. 2. Drunken Noodles with Chicken (4 stars, $9.95): A healthy portion of rice noodles, we had plenty leftover to take home for lunch the next day. We requested medium spiciness, but our portion really wasn't that hot. An above average rendition of the popular Thai dish, the drunken noodles had very good flavor and texture (noodles). While not the star of the show, we would certainly order this dish again. 3. Mango Curry with Shrimp (5 stars, $14.95): This dish is what won us over. Holy wow! The mango curry with shrimp is the best yellow curry I have had at any Thai restaurant on the shoreline, including New Haven. The difference? The veggies are fresh and crunchy; the generous serving of mango is fresh (not frozen!) and sweet; the curry is the perfect thickness (not too soupy!); the shrimp are perfectly cooked; and the flavor profile is complex with just enough heat and sweetness. We had one serving left over for lunch the next day and ordered an additional side of rice to go with it. I can't wait to try each of the other curry dishes on the menu. 4. Mango Sticky Rice (5 stars, $6.00): The dessert looks plain, but the rice (served warm with sesame seeds on top) had just the right amount of sweetness to complement the again generous serving of fresh mango (half of a mango). A perfect end to the meal. 5. Thai Iced Tea and Passion Fruit Green Bubble Tea (4 stars, $3.00 and $3.50): The flavor of the thai iced tea was not too strong or over-poweringly sweet like some of the others we've tried. The passion fruit bubble tea was refreshing - not too sweet - but the tapioca pearls were not quite as soft as we would have liked. iThai is a terrific addition to the Guilford restaurant scene. In addition to fresh ingredients, generous servings, and delicious flavor profiles, the value is hard to beat for the quality. We'll be coming back soon to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Fortunately I had the opportunity to dine at this new Thai restaurant tonight. When I say new I mean new. Today was their second day of business. I liked what I saw and tasted. This restaurant's fresh modern appearance is different from the two other Thai restaurants in town. In fact, if didn't know any better I would have thought I was dining inside one of those hip trendy fro yo joints. It's decorated in a similar style. The inside is kinda small so you might not want to visit with a very large group. But its size is fine for seating a group of four in one of the three booths (there's also a couple tables). It's basic casual Thai food dining, located in a strip mall containing a Dunkin' Donuts, a gas station and a few other businesses in between... I like the fact that the kitchen is open for customers to view. I have a phobia of Asian restaurants and their cleanliness, and the layout sort of assures me no funny business is going on while my food is being prepared. My fresh summer rolls and red curry were both excellent. Its "spiciness" was fine and if were any more spicy I probably could have re-enacted the "How's your burger?" scene from Dumb 'n Dumber. My portion size was just right, meaning it wasn't too big and it wasn't too small. However my liking would have preferred a little bit more chicken swimming in my red curry. But considering it had a $10 price tag, I shouldn't complain. By comparison, many Thai other restaurants charge a couple bucks more for their curry dishes. By the way, it's sort of funny they offer tiramisu as a dessert item. They likely get it from Meriano's Bakery which only a couple doors down. Who knows. Maybe I'll try it next time. Ain't nothing wrong with ending a good meal with a little tiramisu. Overall iThai gets my ithumbs up and I'm looking forward to trying some of their other dishes in the near future. read more

Another great meal at this little gem . The food and service are the best around. We are trying to enjoy everything on the menu at least once. Many we have tried a few times. We are never disappointed .Last night we started with the I signature app which has two of shunsais, chicken satay fresh rolls and blanket shrimp. For the entree we enjoyed the I sea platter. This had king crab, scallops, shrimp,mussels pineapple cashews veggies with a sauce that was just right for this dish. I should have hung up and canceled my order when the lady on the phone answered and tried to rush me off. Very rude customer service to start. I said what the heck she's busy it's ok no big deal I won't take it personally. After waiting 30 minutes to get my food, the drunken noodles were not satisfying. The noodles were overly mushy and soggy where it lost its shape, there was barely any chicken and the vegetables were old, the "flower cut" carrots didn't seem organic, gave me a can food vibe and they had lost their vibrant color. I also asked if I could have a couple of fried wontons added to the signature app for an additional charge and the lady on the phone told me to look at the menu because that's not what they offer. They could only give fried wontons if you ordered the appetizer called crispy... that was another red flag. This is not what I call Thai food, I moved down to Madison recently and I'm still trying to search for good Thai food in the area, I miss Thai smile in Hamden CT! We ordered takeout and paid for it on their on-line ordering menu which was super easy. While all the food was tasty, the Yum Nuea was different than I have experienced before. Not sure that I will get that one again. The pad Thai and the green curry only had a minimal amount of chicken. The fresh spring rolls were mostly lettuce and few shrimp. The rolls came with a bean paste sauce and not the hyper sweet chili sauce that I'm used to. All the food was decent and fresh, the prices were reasonable too. So... A couple of days later I get a phone call, from someone at IThai, seems that my review was not good enough for them. I'm like, "well a three star review is right in the middle not good and not bad, right in the middle", silence on the other end. My grading criteria: Elegant restaurants with excellent menus, excellent wait staff, superior locations and the like deserve 4-5 star ratings. middle market takeout places in strip centers are deserving of 2-4 star ratings. Crappy food where you might get sick, 1 star ratings. Once in a while an establishment will transcend all basic criteria and score outside the range. Certainly the exception and not the rule. Crowd sourcing reviews is only as good as the information that goes into them. That's why it's important to look at the range that the establishment falls into and determine if any of the outlying scores are valid. In many cases they are not. Score inflation helps the restaurant but not the consumer, and these reviews are for the consumer, right? read more

I ordered online and got an email confirmation that my credit card had been charged. I arrived at the restaurant and was told that my order never came through, and thus was not prepared. I then had to wait while the food was cooked. There were then 2 errors with the order (wrong meat, wrong kind of rice). Back-end server problems with your online ordering systems are not the customer's problem. Please either fix the problems or stop taking online orders. That said, the food was amazing. When you ask for soy sauce, they assume you mean LITERALLY 4 drops. It was awkward. How many times does a girl have to beg for soy sauce during lunch?? Fresh Roll: Soft rice paper wrapped with fresh vegetables served with house sauce topped with ground peanut. Chicken Satay: Served with Thai traditional peanut sauce and cucumber sauce. Thai Shumai: Stuffed shrimp, chicken, shitake mushroom, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts. Crab Rangoon: Homemade wonton filled with crabmeat, cream cheese, celery and carrot. I found the spring rolls very bland and over dried. The stir fried veggies and drunken noodles had way too much oil and seemed hastily made. The Thai iced tea was way too sweet. The lady added egg to my drunken noodles when I asked her not too. While she remade it, she was quite upset and didn't even smile / thank us for coming. Don't ever order near closing time of the restaurant. The dining experience was ruined. They could have told us they were closing soon and we would have definitely been understanding and returned some other day. Instead we received passive aggressive service, where our appetizers were delivered at the same time as entrees. We requested the entrees to be put aside, and were graciously offering we'd be okay eating our dinners off temp.cold. Turn off the lights on us at 9:15pm. The food is good. Nothing crazy flavorful for a Thai restaurant but the meal was enjoyable. We dined in and could tell it's definitely more of a take out kind of place. The service was really bad, with the only think our waitress asking us was "what would you like." I loved the taro and Thai bubble teas! Had the lava cake for dessert and it was slightly warm, but definitely didn't have the hot gooey center that lava cakes should have.
