Some coworkers want to go out for lunch and decided on Bangkok Boulevard. I love Thai food so it was excited to try this place. It wasn't too busy for lunch and we were seated pretty quickly. The restaurant is nicely decorated and there were plenty of tables inside and out. Parking wasn't too bad. We all got the bento box and some appetizers. For the appetizers we got fried tofu and dumplings. Both were delicious. I wanted to try something different and decided on the pumpkin curry. It was creamy, nutty and warm. I am glad I picked it. The spring roll was crispy and the salad was fresh. My coworkers got the mango curry and peanut sauce. They both enjoyed their meals. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes. read more

Haven't been to this place in a long time so I got dinner to see how things have changed. Thankfully, things have changed for the better. Nice little sit down restaurant with a decent amount of seating, friendly staff and excellent food. What I'm happy about is the fact that their portion sizes are bigger than the last time I was here. This place has always made impressive food, but dishes were small and prices were high. This place is still more expensive than their only competition in town, that being Thai Spice, but at least you get more food for your dollar now. Thai Spice still has better value and is very good in its own right, but Bangkok Blvd has the crown for flavor. My tofu pad Thai with no egg was very impressive. Tofu, noodles and vegetables were all fresh and high quality. Sauce was delicious and I liked the texture of the noodles in particular. Just enough onions and scallions to enhance the flavor without overpowering. My pad see eaw with no egg has nice thick, chewy noodles and a savory sauce. I didn't care for the leafy veggies because they were bitter, so I ate them first before enjoying everything else. Still loved it though. It's up to you; Thai Spice is a nice little hole in the wall takeout spot that has lower prices and very good food, but Bangkok is on another level with their flavor if you're willing to pay a little more. read more

I came here with a friend and the restaurant was completely empty, save for a few take out orders they were placing in the front for pickup. The dine in experience was a bit odd, the person who helped us was a bit brusque considering the emptiness of the place but allowed us to choose our seats and brought us our menus. Mistake number one, was brought ice water which I asked for without the ice, server was annoyed but did as I requested. Mistake number two was asking about vegan options, exchange went like this: "What to you want to order?" "What vegetarian items do you recommend that I can get without fish or egg?" *frown* "What do you want to order?" "I will need another minute please" *walks away* I asked about the avocado rolls and they were sold out, so I got the fried tofu and spicy basil fried rice without egg and fish sauce, and specified my allergy which was received well. Order was confirmed and brought out promptly. My friend got the dumplings and the shrimp fried rice and enjoyed her meal. The fried tofu was soft tofu which, while not my favorite, was ok. The peanut sauce was a bit congealed and I would skip it. The fried rice was fine and didn't have fish sauce, but was extremely oily. Presentation was a little too cutesy for me but appreciated the attention to detail. They were attentive and filled the water frequently which was nice but at this point I just wanted to eat and leave. I checked in thinking maybe I could use the discount but decided against it as I didn't want to annoy the staff anymore than I already had. Overall this place is fine, it's a middle of the road Thai restaurant that is decently priced. I would probably not dine in again (service was really weird), but for takeout it would serve to scratch the Thai itch if you are in Hamden. If you are vegan, a good rule of thumb is to stick with rice dishes and skip curries as they are pre made with shrimp and you can't get that removed. When in doubt don't rely on the staff just pick what you want and they will make it happen, or not. read more

To be honest, I didn't have the highest expectations of this place. We looked on Grubhub for pho and this place came up. My wife and I went with no additional searching; if we did we'd have seen this is a Thai place and not a Vietnamese spot, so pho isn't their speciality. Parking was easy (additional spots in the back) but the restaurant had a B rating on cleanliness. I almost turned back but I'm so glad I didn't because everything was sooooo good! First, the place was clean and the decor really nice. There was one server who was straight hustling but he was very attentive and the service fairly prompt. The food though, was phenomenal. The garlic rice? BOMB! How they made just rice so tasty I have no idea but it was delicious. The spring rolls were piping hot and crisp and delicious. My pho was surprisingly good too; the broth had a different flavor than I'm used to with pho but it was rich and so good! I didn't even need the grilled steak, it was that good! We'd def come again! Let's talk about Pad Thai. I ordered mine with just veggies. The vegetables looked pretty sad, like possibly from a frozen bag blend but ok, the rest of it looked interesting. This was the sweetest PT I have ever had. Which makes it weird because I wasn't expecting sweet to be the only thing hitting my tastebuds but here I am. The wilty, overcooked veggies in a veggie PT are killing me. There are fresh bean sprouts present though. It would have been a three star review but the spring rolls saved it. They taste like typical spring rolls but were not even a little greasy. Like, not even a little. It was pure sorcery. Pics of my Sad Thai and spring rolls for your own judgement. The photo displays one less spring roll because I have zero self control. Whoops. The gentleman who pointed us towards where the orders were was very pleasant. The us being myself and a gentleman picking up for Door Dash. Pandemic precautions are taken here - pick up orders are separated out on tables according to whichever platform you used to place your order. The bags are stapled closed with the order ticket stapled to the outside to differentiate who's is whoms. There were not any take out utensils in the bag, and no where that I saw when I was placing my order online to indicate that any were needed. The would be a big disappointment if I had picked this up on my way to work so just be mindful of this if you are picking up and not going to eat it at home or anywhere where you have a pre existing fork. read more

This place is really slipping. It used to be spot on , but as of late has gone down the tubes. Perhaps a new chef? They changed a few things on the menu and for the worse. The Curry Puff is not the same, it is no longer light as air, but leaden, done with a heavy puff pastry that has way too much pastry and too little filling, you cannot taste curry at all. The Red Curry dish I ordered had uncooked vegetable in it, raw eggplant/beans, etc. I like the veggies toothsome but this was just raw. As the quality slips, the prices go up. The rice take out containers are still packed so loosely, it is never enough for one adult. It is not an expensive item, I do know why they skimp on rice. A basic curry is $15-irregardless if you have tofu or meat. No salad no spring roll. I do not mind paying if it is cooked right, but raw ingredients and messing with proven menu items, no thanks. read more

Been here a few times and have a good meal each time. I tend to go for the thai curries - either red or yellow. Yesterday I ordered the red and it was a nice blend of coconut milk, spices, plenty of veggies, and meat. Their serving bowls are all really cute and unique too - mine was shaped sort of like a hurricane symbol and the salad we ordered was an angular bowl. Speaking of which, the regular house salad was much larger than we thought - 4 of us shared it and it was like...$6.99? $7.99? Decent value there. The restaurant is BYOB which I either forgot or never knew so no alcohol to be had. If you're looking for authentic, fresh, and delicious Thai food, Bangkok Boulevard is the best place for it in this area. Every time I have gone there the staff is extremely friendly and attentive, they make sure to get your order right, and they do a great job accommodating people in terms of both allergies and spicyness. My favorite dish is the drunken noodles, they are always cooked and spiced perfectly. Dining in, the portions are great for the price and quality of food, I have never ordered take out from here but I know a lot of people do so I am assuming that the take out is of equal quality. The restaurant is very clean and not too noisy, great spot for any sort of outing, this is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the hamden area! read more

Zoodle alert! Bangkok Boulevard has the option to replace tradition rice noodles for zucchini noodles in almost all dishes for an up charge. So bring your veggie or paleo friends. Another new menu item seems to be the soups including a beef "pho". I'm going to keep coming back here and try a bit of everything. Promise. FOOD: The menu has a lot of really attractive items on it. So if you're usually a Pad Thai orderer... branch out and get something new. My first solo visit I ordered mango curry and it was smooth and delicious. The spice level is very tolerable even though the menu indicates two chili peppers. For context, I'm sensitive to chili and hot peppers. My second visit with friends I ordered lemongrass chicken. It was loaded with lemongrass but also had a lot of ginger, which was a double win. ATMOSPHERE & SERVICE: Bangkok Boulevard's building is a modern blue plaza with Primo Pizza and Mikro. Inside has attractive lighting with a few sectioned areas. Have to say, chairs are not comfortable so if you can snag a booth, do it. Everything is clean and modern. Service was attentive and helpful with menu items. When our group ordered 2 appetizers that were both out our server had a suggestion for curry puffs. It was tasty but a bummer they must have ran out of something in the first 2 apps we wanted. Anyways all food came out with good time. Water refills aplenty! Don't overlook this gem in the little shopping center on Whitney avenue! Been here two times, getting the Pho, the Tom Yum soup, and drunken noodles. The pho was a little different than the normal Vietnamese version, to be expected, but was still flavorful. The drunken noodles with chicken are some of the best i've ever had! Wow! I am gluten-free and there were so many choices clearly marked. Everything sounded delicious. I got tofu pad thai and my boyfriend got green curry with shrimp. This was our favorite Thai restaurant when we lived in Hamden. Today after few years while in town we decided to go there for lunch. Definitely the food is not same. We got three chicken dishes. The chicken in all three was very chewy and hard. We could tell that this lunch was not fresh at all. Very good Thai food in Hamden! Wish this place was open while I was living here. We had the chicken satay which was cooked perfectly and came with an amazing peanut dipping sauce. For dinner we had the massaman curry and drunken noodle with chicken and Thai iced tea. I haven't had drunken noodle with scrambled egg so I would ask to have it without next time I go. We stopped by this place around 3pm on a Sunday after a hike at the Sleeping Giant State Park. We actually initially wanted the korean/japanese next door but they were closed sunday so we came in here instead. First impression was: dane, this place is really empty. Decor was pretty nice and seating and tables were clean but there wasn't any other customer. Anyways we were hungry and decided to just order something to try. The menu had a page of chef specialties and there were almost 10 duck items so I guesed they must be pretty confident in their duck cooking and ordered the hot basil duck. Wow the duck tasted amazing. They deep fried basil and lay them on top of the duck which has crispy skin and very tender meat. The sauce at the bottom is stirred fried with a lot of vegetables and flavored very nicely. This is a dish that can stand up to any NYC Thai restaurant competition (at least ones I have been to) We also got a lychee drink to go with it which came. It had two actual lychee in the drink and tastes refreshing without being overly sweet. We would definitely like to come back if we are in the neighborhood again. read more
