We stopped by for a last minute dinner (and because I was craving Vietnamese). We just moved to the Maple Leaf neighborhood so we weren't sure about the Vietnamese options around quite yet. I'm super relieved to say that we were not dissapointed whatsoever with our first stop at Pho An. I wasn't expecting great service, like many similar establishments we didn't go for the service. However! We were pleasantly surprised by the great customer service that we received on top of the really great Pho, eggrolls and Bun Chay. The broth was perfection and the eggrolls were traditional and the proportions of noodle, veggies, protein in the Bun Chay was perfect. We will be coming back for sure. read more

These guys have come to be known as kinda the kings of pho in the north end, and it's really easy to see why. After one visit, I have to say they served one of the better bowls of soup that I've had. This stretch of LCW feels kinda closed-off from the outside, because the businesses are all built with no space in between, and wide eaves overhanging the sidewalk. It's kinda like looking at a bulky, stocky dude with a scowl on his face, compared to other buildings where the architects let the light and air move around the facade a bit more. To complicate matters slightly, they obscure the windows here, and there's no clear "Open" sign, just some neon soupl bowls "steaming" in the window. But there's often parking available, and we sailed right in from a spot directly across the street. Couldn't have asked for better. Inside, everything's a bit more open--high ceilings, plenty of electric light. Three rows of tables, mostly full, even outside peak hours. It's a busy spot. They bring out an extensive menu of apps, soup, bowls, and other options. The bbq pork fresh rolls are amazing, just packed with explosive flavors and prepared with very fresh ingredients. Nice spicy sour sauce for dipping. The condiments and ingredients for the pho are right on point, and they were cool about instantly changing one order to half-noodles. The meat is tender and flat, definitely never frozen. The broth is clear and immaculately clean, absolutely no off notes at all. Love their oxtail pho for around $9, but it's pretty slow for a pho spot. Pho places are usually known to be quick, but they took a while to bring out our two bowls of pho and iced coffee. The people who work here are super sweet though and you can tell they get a lot of regulars because they just memorize people's orders! With the high rating of this place, I was expecting a lot more better pho. I thought it was a bit bland and the portion was really small. The regular spring rolls were below mediocre. Nov/2022: I'm writing this hoping they'll notice and improve their new business practices. We really want to support our local small business but we were taken advantages of, with their new business practices: #1) One needs a phone to scan QR code to view menu & prices (not convenience for older folks, even the young one found out their online not working & prices are outdated. #2) They now charge 3.5% for use of credit/debit card in addition #3) to extra $1 per menu item for some system charge. #4) There was NO sign in the restaurant indicated such charges NOR advance warning of such charge by the cashier, NOR any note that they preferred cash. #5) and the payment system placing 20% tip up front and made it harder to enter "Other" tip option (this is a pressure scam!). We're learning to pick Other and leaving a dollar amount instead, which mostly less than the standard tip. 2 large Pho + 1 small Pho put a hole of $60+ in our card. Dinners beware! Very poor experiences when this is not all this up front. 1 star read more

This is the 2nd times I have been here. Overall not too bad for food. The Pho is really good. The skewed chicken is kinda boring and lack of flavor, but it is very tender. They have 2 different sizes and the portion is very filling. The service is very fast and the restaurant is very clean. So the first time I was here I was pretty sick and so that helps my cold. I ordered an appetizer is called the shrimp rolls. It wasn't that good for the price. This time the skewed chicken was only (2) pieces and I also don't recommend it. My hunnie wasn't feeling too well so we decided to grab pho for dinner. We found this local place via Yelp 5 minutes before they closed. We were greeted immediately and handed menus although they could have easily turned us away. The restaurant itself looked very clean (earns bonus star). ---the broth was really good!! My hunnie barely put anything in his and it was still very flavorful. His beef was rare and the broth was still hot enough to cook it when we got home. One day, I was walking by Pho An and my family and I decided to stop in. Although we had never been there before, we thought we would give it a try. We had the brisket pho, mongolian beef, and pork bahn mi. The flavor of the pho broth is not my favorite but my child enjoyed it. I liked the texture of the noodles and the veggies were fresh. The mongolian beef took me a bit by surprise. It's certainly not what I was thinking when we ordered the dish. The sauce was sweeter than I had expected. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. The meat was cooked well, as were the veggies. The bahn mi was good. The quality of the bread stole the show. We tried to ask questions about the bread but were met with rather vague answers. Dude, it's just bread. I'm thinking it's okay to tell us where you got it. The pork was seasoned and cooked well. The sandwich was a tiny bit heavy with black pepper but still really good. My friends and I have been in a Ph Club for several years now. And when Seattle's weather turns chilly as it's apt to do, we visit a local Vietnamese restaurant for ph. There were about eight of us during this particular outing and no one had issues finding parking (street and private lot in the back). The servers were very friendly and worked quickly to get our group seated. Our questions were answered quickly and after we ordered, our drinks arrived. The Thai iced teas and the strawberry smoothie was both well received. I would have liked a little more fried tofu with the appetizer but it was well made and not greasy. My husband ordered the pork banh mi and he really enjoyed it. The vegetarians in our group liked their soup which was full of broccoli, carrots, and tofu. 1st time here on a Saturday afternoon and not likely to go back. The staff was friendly to everyone but in a forced way. Food was average and don't expect any service after you placed your order. The worst thing is the nonstop loud noises from their kitchen that's right next to the sitting area with no wall separation. And they didn't play any music at all because they are just so numb with their own noises! There's nothing like a hot and steamy bowl of pho in the middle of winter. I came here two nights ago to warm up. There aren't very many options for pho in the Northgate area (I think). Pho An is not the cheapest place, but it isn't bad. Service was quick and friendly. My only gripe -- for the price, there should have been much more meat! I had to mail out a package at Fedex across the street so I popped into here for lunch. The restaurant is very nice for a Pho spot. Solid stone tables. Chandeliers. Tile floors. The Pho came out quick and was hot and tasty. Great broth (enhanced by some Hoison Sauce of course). The protein (tofu) had good texture and taste. The price was excellent. My only complaint was that some of the veggies were lacking. I am not sure if some were frozen or from a can, but not amazing. I will be back - probably many times. This is a regular spot for my workplace, when we want something delicious, filling, and pretty cheap. The parking here is kinda bad, as expected from Seattle, but they do have a lot behind the building that isn't very well marked. I almost always order a vermicelli bowl with pork, and it's always perfect. The noodles are always cooked perfectly, the meat is delicious and seasoned well, and the veggies are always fresh. I've tried the bahn mi's and fried rice before and they were fantastic as well. The staff here are very sweet and always super friendly - they usually recognize us when we come in and service is fast. Today we went there for dinner around 7pm but there were no customers in dining aria. It was weird because usually there were lots of costumers. But I understand why no customers there. This place is going to No friendly. I loved this place because very friendly people were working but now they refused to take my order in person. Only we can order through an app with a fee or we have to get up to the counter. Also new pos system they got now is charging $1.50 fee for using card to pay. Signature place on the screen is fucked up so I was not able to write signature but the lady who was working there just gave fake signature on the screen.
