So this place is pretty good. The pho is offered in three sizes and the medium is equivalent to a large in a lot of places. The filet mignon pho is pretty good and the broth is on the light side. I always feel a little hesitant to give a 3-star on a restaurant that has nearly 1000 reviews and boasts a 4.5, but I think I have to do it. NOTE: this is influenced by my particular order, which was the Do Bien with vegetable broth. It is probably my fault for having too high of standards for a dish that is $10.95, but I just found the seafood to be lower in quality. Beyond that slight disappointment, I enjoyed the vegetable broth tremendously, and liked that we were able to add our own fix-ins. I've been waiting to try Pho 95 for quite some time as seventy-six percent of their reviewers swear by their authenticity and flavor. I finally was able to skip their lunch crowd by coming early as it is not unusual for me to have pho for breakfast or brunch. Located in a plaza along with other Vietnamese stores and eateries, their sizable red-colored interior is capable of carrying a crowd with booths arranged along the walls with a TV and fish tank in the back and rows of tables vertically arranged to complete the décor. Service was prompt and friendly. I asked for time to look through the menu and noticed they have one standard price that applies to their entire selections of pho: the small goes for $5.25, medium $6, and large $6.45. Extra meat items can be added for $1, and they also carry a mix of fresh fruit and powder boba smoothies for $3.59. On paper, I thought the selection, price and value were spot on. My favorite pho is Tai Gan Sach and I also ordered the fresh Jackfruit Smoothie with Boba to accompany the meal. My large bowl was eye popping humongous where I can literally put my entire face in it without touching the rim. The bowl was brimming with noodles, slices of steak that was disappointingly well done instead of rare, and layers of tripe at the top and strips of fatty tendon at the very bottom. The noodles appeared too soft and overcooked by the broth, and the uneven representation of beef slices would have been okay had it arrived red and rare at the center. I wished there could be more tripe and tendon, but to my delight the mix of basil, greens, sprouts, jalapeno and lime were plentiful and fresh. The reason that this place did not get a favorable rating from me was the overcooked noodles, the quality of the broth, and the smoothie. In addition to my description of the noodles, the broth had decent bone marrow flavor but missing was the dimensions derived from cloves, star anise, and other rich spices. The broth tasted cleaner than expected which thwarted the possibility of a greasy spoon. It was still a decent bowl of pho, but a more complicated and robust broth can be found elsewhere. The fresh fruit smoothie was too sweet. The added sugar and whip cream were unnecessary on top of fresh jackfruit, and the stiff and staled boba was not very good at all. Service was good until the lunch crowd started to appear so the restaurant became crazy busy as I was leaving. Overall, there was still enough to like about this place. For those wishing to maximize the experience, consider asking for the rare beef to come on the side, throw in a dollar for extra tendon or something other than their rare steak, and skip the drink in favor of an appetizer especially for those who likes to order a lot of food like me. There's that old school adage if you walk into a Chinese joint for example, and there's no Chinese in it, then walk the eff out. Walking into Pho 95 for the 1st time, I immediately noticed there were very few Viets (Asians) in the restaurant. Instead it was more of a mixed crowd of non-Asians in which one rather large group had a token Asian with them playing a supporting vs. lead role, and I'm assuming he was there to contribute to the "authentic" experience although I personally prefer to wear a coolie/conical hat instead to get into authentic character. Why the high ratings? Early on somebody must have deemed "this is the place" and it stuck, so now you have the sheep that say "I've never had much pho before, but if you say this is the best, than I guess it is, 5 stars!" which isn't ultimately a bad thing, but it's not a 5 star pho joint.... well to you it is, and that's fine, but you're throwing the rating off, yo! Now, if you've eaten your fair share of pho (Yelp Elite, Daniel L - read his review below because it reflects my thoughts) you'll know this is very average, but the meats I had were below average. I ended up wasting and throwing out most of the meat of my pho dac biet, so I have to say "you no so special" and "Pho 79 you mo special". I feel in many ways that beloved Pho 95 has been a victim of it's own success. As one of the 300+ reviewers, I feel somewhat responsible. The problem? There are now lines of Pho-loving folks queueing outside the door - even on weekdays. A great problem for Pho 95, but there are a couple of problems with this that have made for a not-so-awesome experience: 1. There is no waiting area. But even though there is no place to comfortably stand and wait, folks will crowd themselves in around the tables of people eating, or stand in the doorway letting in the cold air on winter days - making the entire dining room feel cramped and exposed. Nothing like freezing and having 20 people stare at you while you eat your Pho. 2. There is no waiting list. And due to human nature, this makes people do some unexpected things (see cramming the dining room door above). We've also seen - and had to participate in - a lot of arguments about who is next in line among the customers. This is stressful and is a primary reason why we don't go to Pho 95 as often as we used to. It's just not a friendly place anymore; Not because of the staff - but because of the patrons. A piece of notebook paper with a pen on a board next to the door would work wonders with this problem. Still tasty, and still my favorite Pho for my money, but I've been in search for a replacement until some of the overpopularity problems have worked themselves out. read more

As of now, this is the best pho I've had! We passed many pho places on the way to this one (there was at least 2 or 3 on every block). I've never seen so many pho restaurants in one area. I've seen others order the large, and they as might as well call that size JUMBO because it's that huge. I ordered a small combination pho. It's the first time I've seen a bowl of pho with more meat than rice noodles. I felt like they didn't give me enough rice noodles because I've never in my life have ever eaten all the rice noodles in a bowl of pho. Wow, it's about time Denver has produced a pho restaurant that is comparable to Pho Duy (the best Pho restaurant in Denver/Los Angeles). I was getting a little worried that Pho Duy would monopolize Denver! I went here a few weeks ago while I was in Denver, and immediately when I walked in it was a different atmosphere than Pho Duy, it was all Vietnamese costumers! That's got to tell you something. All the tables were taken up, but turnaround was very fast so we got seated very quickly. I ordered my usual Pho Tai Nam, medium. When it came out, I took my first sip and right off the bat I was in love. It tasted almost exactly like Pho Duy's broth (it's like the owner use to work at Pho Duy or something! *hint hint*)!!! Both beefs, the "tai" and the "nam" were spectacular! Not fatty like most restaurants are. They gave us tons of veggies, the way I like it! Overall, the pho there is AWESOME. I don't know just yet if I like it better than Pho Duy though, but it is very comparable. People say Denver is a foodie town but I didn't really believe them. My experiences with almost restaurants I've been to in Denver were okay. Food were mediocre at best until we came here. After our cold hike at St. Mary's on our last day of the trip, we stopped here for a hot bowl of soup. I was actually surprised the pho was legit. I got seafood pho which is not a traditional order, but I was craving seafood since all of our other meals have a lot of meat. The hot soup warm us up and make us feel like we're back at home. Wow. Wowey wow wow to the wowth power! I've had plenty of Pho in my day but seriously, this was WELL worth it. When I got off the bus and started walking toward this amazing little spot, I smelled the noodley goodness in the air. Such a welcoming, familiar smell. I walk in and am immediately seated. The pho was so savory and delicious I couldn't stop eating it! They also gave us a mountain of lime, bean sprouts and fresh herbs to jazz it up to our liking. A few dots of cock sauce and hosin and I was on my way to food euphoria. There were plenty of veggies. I couldn't finish the small! But then again, I have never, ever once been able to finish a bowl of pho. The egg rolls were crisp and fresh. So freaking delicious, I would have been satisfied with those alone! You get 3 egg rolls, cut in halves. Comes with lettuce wrap stuff and fish sauce. Goi Cuon Tom Thit - $3.95 - Normal spring roll but something about it made me not enjoy it. It was missing that crunch factor a spring roll needs. Peanut sauce was so so. Pho Dac Biet, medium - $8 - Like I said above, that broth was amazing. So clear and clean. Pure beef flavor. Add some of the beef oil inside and it will blow your mind. I usually do not drink much of the broth but I drank a bowls worth before I put my sauces inside. Walking into Pho 95 is like walking through the door of the dark small hallway into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory...minus the Oompa Loompas. From the outside, Pho 95 looks drab and small (mind you, some of the best places look like this). Once you get inside, however, you are met with a wide open space and friendly faces. I am a Pho snob, so it takes a lot to impress me. This place does it. I love their broth and they always get my boba tea just right. I finally got to try the Filet Mignon Pho and I was surprised how awesome it really was! I was in town for a conference and my group of 15 needed to grab dinner before it started. We called ahead to let them know of our large party and they were more than willing to accommodate us. The restaurant started to get busy, as it was Friday evening, so they had to split us into two tables which was completely fine. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient with us during our visit. The majority of our table ordered #21 Pho 95 Special aka the Filet Mignon Pho. I ordered a small and the rest ordered mediums. I was a bit skeptical about the concept because it seems like a waste of filet mignon but the price was right, so I went for it. The pho came out quickly and the portions were generous. The broth was clear and tasty; not too salty or sweet. The meat was deliciously sliced thin and oh so tender. There was also a ton of meat for all bowl sizes! My friend Henry actually ordered extra meat and it was a little too much. Our vegetarian friend ordered the 3P Vegetarian Pan Fried Noodles [Pho Ap Chao Chay] and ate everything on her large plate. It was well cooked and had a variety of ingredients.
