The sandwiches were very yummy and very filling, and the brownie was more like a "brookie" and was one of the best either of us have had. The pickles were yummy and also a tiny bit spicy. We did not enjoy the macaroni salad sides as much, but they have plenty of other options. The food was pretty expensive, especially for the amount you get. It is counter service, so you wait in line, order at the counter, and receive a number. Staff bring your food to you when it is ready. We waited a reasonable amount of time and it was way to figure out. The ambiance is very casual and relaxed. It is very pretty both inside and on the patio. Oh my my, what delicious sandwiches!! The environment was upbeat and welcoming, the line long but fast-moving and worth the wait. We chose the two Reuben sandwiches, The Rachel (smoked turkey, Jarlsberg, slaw) and the Pastrami Reuben (house-made pastrami, Jarlsberg, cabbage). Both were on house-made rye, and served with house-made pickles... both absolutely delicious! The curry potato salad was pretty good, but if I come again I would stick with the pasta salad, that was exceptionally flavorful and yummy. Leven Deli Co. is what would happen if Ron Swanson opened a Jewish deli in downtown Denver and let southern blues play over the speakers while he worked. There's no performance here, no hospitality theater, no one asking how the first few bites are treating you. You walk up to the counter, you order, you take a number, you sit down. The food does the talking. And the food has a lot to say. I went on a bright Wednesday morning with a couple of friends and ordered the classic breakfast, swapping bacon for pastrami (a first for me) with an everything biscuit on the side (also a first). Both were revelations. The eggs over-hard might be the best version of that order I've ever gotten from a restaurant -- just a whisper of uncooked yolk in the center, perfectly seared on both sides. Skillet potatoes were spot-on. The skillet pastrami was rich and properly crisped at the edges. And the two generous slices of sourdough arrived with a scratch-made blueberry jam that I ended up smearing on everything I could -- sourdough, biscuit, probably would've eaten it with a spoon if no one was looking. My friend ordered the breakfast sandwich, which clearly belongs in the staples category. The baguette was the star: toasted outside, pillow-soft inside, zero tug-of-war with your teeth. That detail alone tells you the kitchen cares. This is the Ron Swanson part: there's an unapologetic confidence to this place. They know exactly what they're doing, they're not trying to oversell it, and they're not interested in charming you into liking it. They're just going to hand you something excellent and trust you to figure out the rest. The coffee was good. The food was setting-a-benchmark good. A real 5 out of 5 stars, no pickin nits. Mild observation, not a complaint: the service is counter-only, no traditional table service. Would Matthew McConaughey or Reese Witherspoon dropping plates off elevate the experience? Sure. But Ron wouldn't have it any other way, and honestly, neither would I after eating here. If I lived within 45 minutes of downtown Denver, this would be my destination breakfast. Fire sandwich spot. We're visiting from California for new years and stumbled upon this place on Yelp since it was walkable from our hotel. We arrived around 12:30pm and there was a line out the door until 2pm, so definitely prepare for a wait. They have a good amount of indoor seating but it was so busy that we had no choice, but to sit outside. Luckily, it wasn't too cold. You order at the counter and the register workers puts a description of you on your receipt so that your waiter can find you. I got labeled big white scarf :D. We got the classic Reuben pastrami sandwich and the mushroom barley soup. Both were very flavorful and hearty, but I recommend the going the sandwich route if you have to pick one. Leven deli is always delicious and a Denver gem according to most locals here! The sandwiches are delicious and very large, and the sides are all wonderful. My personal favorites are the mozzarella focaccia sandwich or the pastrami Reuben. Their homemade picked are top tier, though it is always hard to pick a side as I want them all!! The biggest bummer is the price of eating here, a group of 4 of us came recently and got one sandwich each and we ended up spending around $100 which is wild!! You pour your own water by the register. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. Outside seating can get warm but there are umbrellas for shade. Utensils are at the table. As a first timer, I had to order the Pastrami Reuben ($20). It was packed with flavor and incredibly filling. So glad I split this with my husband! Be careful of the crust if you have a sensitive mouth. For sides I tried the French Curry Potato Salad which stood out since you don't often see it at delis. It was tasty and unique. I also grabbed the Kale Salad for $1.50 which was fresh and light. It leaned heavy on cilantro, which I personally love but it might not be for everyone. The vibe is very laid back. I noticed lots of people enjoying casual meals with their partners or catching up with friends. After eating we walked around the neighborhood and there's plenty to see which makes this place an even better stop. Overall the food is delicious and portions are generous. My husband said his sandwich had kind of a weird taste so not the typical Reuben. My turkey was good but not great. I can't quite pinpoint why the sandwiches didn't work for us but I would still be willing to come back again in the future to try something else We finished up and as we were packing up to leave, one of the employees asked us if we wanted a brownie. We responded "Yes!" We were then offered a baguette, then some biscuits. This place hits the spot! Functions like a classic deli with fantastic service and great food! I'm so glad that we decided to grab breakfast here one morning. After ordering in line, you're able to take a carafe of still or sparkling water to your table with your number and wait for your order to come out. Our orders came pretty quickly and we were solidly impressed with everything we chose. Starting with the classic Leven Biscuit (we asked for their apple jam and butter on the side). The biscuit was fluffy and the apple cinnamon jam was unique tasty. It's not the best biscuit I've ever had, but it's a solid 7.5/10. I believe you can order biscuits in bulk and jars of the jam prepackaged. The avocado toast I ordered came with some sliced tomatoes, pickled red onions and seasoning. Again, not the best avocado toast I've had, but the bread was extremely high quality and I'd have purchased a loaf if I wasn't flying home with an overweight bag that day. I think a little drizzle of olive oil or even some pepper flakes would have added the perfect last flavor layer to this dish. Finally, the breakfast sandwich was perfection. Truly no notes! The bread was the star, but a close second to the wonderful pastrami slices, cheddar, eggs and crunchy arugula and greens. My partners iced pumpkin spice latte was stellar as well. This place healed me after a night of drinking. Would I come back here? Absolutely.
