Excellent central Vietnamese cuisine. I was able to get BH8 which had banh beo, Nam, Loc la and a few others. It wasn't in the appetizer section, but the server showed me where it was. My sister got the pho with a beef rib and I got the bun bo Hue. The server had a correct hunch about my Vietnamese language proficiency and was accommodating. I speak Vietnamese at about a 4 year old level. The place has a stage and looks like they host karaoke nights. Great spot for Vietnamese food a little different than we normally get.
Came here during happy hour, which interestingly enough is after 4 PM, which works well for me after work. A mix of great flavors but lack of service and sufficient cleanliness that could be better. What I ordered for food: - P16 (Beef Rib & Brisket Pho): Since it was happy hour, this was a decent deal. The rib was solid! Very tender and tasty. The broth itself was clear and had that savory flavor that makes a good bowl of pho. Portions were huge though because it only comes in large. -BH2 (Bún Bò Huế Pork Hock): The broth was clear and rich which I liked, but unfortunately, the pork hock itself didn't taste like much and lacked flavor. Wouldn't get again. -BH5 (Bánh Lọc Trần) & BH7 (Bánh Ít Có Ram): The waiter recommended putting these two together as a combo, which worked out great. The starchy tapioca dumplings paired perfectly with the spicy fish sauce on the side, and the sweet rice flour dumplings on the shrimp crackers gave it a really satisfying crunch. Would order again, but I also can see how I wouldn't keep ordering cause can be a bit heavy and starchy. The Service: This is where the experience fell short. The restaurant wasn't filled at all, yet it took a long time for a server to bring us water and take our order. Throughout the meal, no one ever checked in or refilled our waters. When we were ready to leave, we couldn't get anyone's attention for a to-go container. Ambiance: My main concern was the dirtiness of the chairs and tables. There was leftover food from prior customers and stains. Also a fly kept getting close to our food, I was uncomfortable. Overall, the food has a lot of potential, but the service and cleanliness need a major upgrade to match the kitchen. I'd give a 5 for food overall, but 3 for service and cleanliness.
I had a very good experience at O Lien. We had a big group of twelve adults, so we did have to wait a while to get a big enough table. I heard good things about this restaurant even though it is in a sketchier part of town. The restaurant feels clean and lounge-y because of the lights and sakura trees. They have a restroom in the back. Parking was easy in their lot. I had to wait for someone to leave before I could finally park. Next door to O Lien is a Louisiana crawfish spot. The menu is extensive. You can choose rice or noodles. They have a lot of different appetizers too. The bun bo hue is popular because of the rib bone. The meat portion size is good. Pho is 15% off everyday after 4PM! The A5 cha gio (egg rolls) are good. One order is $7.99 and comes with two pieces but cut in half. They were served with noodles. I wish they had more greens. BBH6 King bun bo hue was good. At $24.99, it came with all the meats, including the bone rib and pork knuckle. It wasn't spicy, but the spicy sauce they had at the table was very spicy. C5 shrimp rice plate $15.99 came with 2 egg rolls. The shrimp was grilled nicely, and the steamed rice (not broken rice) was good. Service was really good. They took care of us even though it was hectic. They were patient and didn't rush us. You have to pay at the register. Credit card / tap pay is accepted. No outdoor seating.
Being from Southern California I've been SEARCHING for a Vietnamese restaurant that offers all the dishes I can't be bothered to make at home like Banh Beo and I finally found it. They have the crispiest banh xeos and perfect banh beos it's my new go to spot if I'm missing a taste of home. Service is great and the restaurant is clean. Can't wait to come back to try the rest of their menu!
One thing about me? I love pork. Another thing about me? I love variety even more. So imagine my delight when I found this plate came with your standard rice, salad, and pork, but ALSO came with beef, shrimp, and egg roll, and a fried egg! This was way too much food and definitely enough to share but that's not the worst problem to have, especially at just $17. Everything on my plate was tender and flavorful and they combined surprisingly well. The pork was my favorite but if this whole combo looks intimidating I think any of the individual proteins are worth ordering if you have a different preference. I came here with a group of friends who ordered things like pho, bun bo hue, and spring rolls and they all enjoyed their's as well. My only critique is that the wait for our food was pretty long. It was busy and a weekend and we ordered a bunch of food so it wasn't the biggest deal, especially given how good everything was.
My boyfriend is Viet so I've had lots of Viet food BY FAR this has become our favorite restaurant. Unique foods I only eat at grandmas house is here and it's FIRE! Service was kind and efficient, made sure we had a good table when they noticed someone strange try to come into the restaurant. Pricing was reasonable and worth it for how good the food is. Try the avocado smoothie and Viet coffee!
your typical Vietnamese restaurant wide and loud. when we walk in at noon the place is packed and they only have two serve running around. Finally we got a place to sit. It must be very authentic since most costumer are Vietnamese. We order what our friend recommended the combo noodle soup. There was so much MEAT!! The soup was very flavorful and minting. Next time I think I will order just the BEEF. The pork was a bit hard to chew. Will definitely be back!!!
Everything was absolutely delicious--and that's coming from a Vietnamese person! My friends and I shared several dishes, and everything had that homemade touch that reminded me of authentic Vietnamese cooking. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the dishes in English to my friends who don't speak Vietnamese. He even brought us three additional slices of bánh mì to go with our bò kho (beef stew), since the dish only comes with two slices and there were five of us. Such a thoughtful gesture! This place is truly a hidden gem in Denver. Overall, all five of us were very impressed. The portions were generous, the prices were reasonable, and our server was attentive, helpful, and provided excellent service. We also didn't have to wait long for our food.
We had a delicious lunch at O Lien. Although we typically go for pho or bun, we decided to try some new dishes. I highly recommend the steamed tapioca dumplings (BH5) and the fried rice crepes (HS6). Great place for families. Service was a little slow, but not a big deal. We will definitely go back.
Consistent, reasonably priced, and food is made with SO much love! This place is my go to once a month atleast or four times a month HAHA. The Bun Bo Hue is out of this world, I always have leftovers. It reminds me of home. Service is good, slower on BUSY days but they do their best. So friendly and helpful! I love the vibes here, you'll always see families here eating together!
My friend was visiting from LA and we were craving something Vietnamese to get. There are so many cool Viet restaurants in the area and I didn't know what to offer her (I just moved here from California). This place is awesome with modern decor and high ceilings! (I hate feeling stuffy) We (me, my cousin, and my friend) were hanging downtown and saw that O Lien wasn't too far. The restaurant is right off Federal Blvd not too far away so we came. We tried the Banh Beo Chen to start...such a fun dish to try! It was delicious! My friend from LA is a Viet girl, so she's particular about her dish. When the waiter told her that the restaurant's Bun Bo Hue is super popular, she ordered it (she's a BBH fan). I ordered the Pho combo, while my cousin ordered combo rice plate. We both loved our food! My friend tho, was telling us about how this was the best BBH she's ever had! That's awesome! Come try it!!!
This is a fast casual place with great food. As I walked in I was greeted quickly and told I could pick my own seat. I spent a lot of time looking at the menu and no one bothered me. When I put the menu down, someone came by to ask if I was ready to order. I had the HS10 mi quang. The food came out fairly quickly and it was delicious! I am not too sure how authentic it is because I've never had it before. O lien offers lots of different vietnamese dishes that I don't usually see. I would definitely reccommend checking this place out! I will be back.
O Lien was recommended to me by a friend, so when we passed through Denver, we had to give it a try! Just one look at the menu and I knew this place was authentic. They offer some Central Vietnamese dishes that you just can't get at any other Vietnamese pho restaurant. I got the My Quang, which is my favorite. The flavor was so rich and deep, and they did not hold out on the proteins. My husband had the Bun Rieu, which was also very tasty! We shared the BH8 combination plate and were also very pleased! You get to try a little of everything! Super nostalgic and reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. Service was fast, and the ambiance was casual. Highly recommend if you're looking for some authentic Vietnamese cuisine besides the usual pho and banh mi - which they also have if that's what you prefer! read more

If there's one place in Denver, I'd recommend eating at, it's this one. The food is authentic, service prompt, portions large, and the taste - DELICIOUS. I love that their menu has your run of the mill options but they have a specials page with harder to find Vietnamese options, like banh xeo or banh canh cua. They do NOT have banh cuon though, just fyi. I read other reviews saying the banh canh cua and bun bo hue are really good here, and lemme tell you. The yelpers did not disappoint! Everything in the canh cua is hella good, especially the broth. All I added was lime, veggies, and a little chili oil. Perfection! I couldn't finish the bowl since we ordered a bunch of other stuff but canh cua keeps well so even heated up the next day, the noodles and everything were intact and yummy. It does come with blood cubes but if you aren't a fan, like myself, you can ask them to take it out. They have several BBH meat options but my BF went with the King bowl which has everything in it. We didn't realize that it comes with a giant beef bone on the side. Considering we ordered two of these for our 4 person table, our table was packed AF lol The BBH has a good flavor and depth, not that spicy, and if you like a lot of meat variety, this is the one for you. We also ordered spring rolls, eggrolls, banh it ram, and banh beo for the table. The banh it ram and banh beo were sooooooo freakin good. They stuff the chewy part of the banh it ram with a yummy pork filling, and the crunch on the bottom was such a good contrast to the chewiness of the mochi like top. I've had this dish a few times before but I have to say, O Lien does it best. You really have to dunk these things in the nuoc mam (sweet fish) otherwise it will taste a little plain. The banh beo were some of the best I've had. They really load these babies up with toppings, which I appreciate because some places are so stingy with the chicharrones and shrimp dust - thats the orange stuff on top. These were also a highlight for me, I love the sweet savory flavor, and the chewiness of the banh beo. This is another thing you kinda have to drown in nuoc ma for flavor and they're pretty big so kudos to you if you can one bite this. For me, I found it a little more appetizing to cut in half and scoop up with my spoon. The egg rolls were good, nothing crazy. Just a nice solid egg roll. I didn't try the spring rolls but my cousin said the sauce it came with didn't have a peanutty taste. It said it tasted more like soy sauce than anything.. so for him, he would pass. We popped in on a Sunday night at 7, and they had a whole waitlist with people waiting inside and outside. We were lucky and only had to wait about 15 minutes. They claim they close at 8 but they def had people seated past that. They're super busy and for good reason. The food is bomb! They're in a small plaza with a tiny lot, so you might catch a spot if you're lucky otherwise you'll have to find street parking, which shouldn't be too bad. The inside is fairly spacious, so they do get people moving in and our fairly quickly. read more

Nonetheless, we added our name to the waitlist and was grateful there were only a couple of parties before us. We knew we wanted some of the Bahn Hue Plates but also didn't want too many of the same thing. The waiter offered some substitute options that worked for us. These "cakes" are still a rarity for us as they aren't found everywhere. * BH8. Sampler with substitutes $14.99 - Ours came with the 4 Loc La, 2 Nam, and 4 It Co Ram (instead of the 12 Beo and 3 It Tran). I actually think the waiter said he would sub the 12 Beo for the It Co Ram. I realize now we did not get any of the It Tran, which is a bit of a bummer. * BH1. Bahn Beo Chen $13.99 - We usually try to order this whenever we see it on the menu. * A5. Vietnamese Eggrolls Cha Gio $7.99 - Their deep-fried egg rolls were exactly how we wanted - with that extra blistery look to it. Not all Vietnamese restaurants serve it this way, so we do try to order it when we see it offered. * HS1. Sizzling Steak & Eggs $18.99 - We did ask for more bread to soak up the proteins on this dish. I'm not sure what happened because the bread took ridiculously long, and the restaurant had cleared up quite a bit by then. Most of our orders came out rather quickly, so it was weird with the long wait for the extra bread. I honestly think they forgot, and when someone finally remembered, it was put into the toaster to heat up then because it did arrive very hot versus the initial order. We had to get up and ask about it and two different waiters said it was coming out. Their house made chili oil definitely had a kick to it! Use it sparingly if it's your first go at it. We were curious about their Bun Bo Hue because there are so many options. The waiter did tell us it's their most popular dish and the pictures looked amazing. Overall, we had a good experience at O Lien Kitchen. The long wait for the bread did put a downer on the visit as it dragged on and the steak and eggs got cold as we waited. This place has been on my list of Vietnamese restaurants to try for quite a while, and finally made it! It was recommended by the owner of Savory Vietnam, my former favorite Vietnamese restaurant when they closed. They have an extensive menu with a variety of authentic and harder to find Vietnamese dishes. The bun bo hue was amazing, flavorful broth, quality ingredients, and large portion! Some say it's the best in Denver. (I don't disagree, although I still have more places to try.) I ordered the beef rib version. They have various versions with other protein choices, as well as a king bun bo hue which combines everything if you are really hungry! A regular customer I dined with recommended the crab udon, so I'll have to come back and try that! read more

I loved them for the quality deliciousness that was easily accessible when shopping at Viet Hoa. I was really bummed they closed and found out a few months later they planned to open at a stand alone location. Haven't had the chance to try them until recently and boy was I missing them?! I don't know if other people get excited as I do when I see "nice ice" in the water... some people call them sonic ice? But I was excited for sure. Easily pleased I suppose. Their rocket shrimp is a must order for me every time and I swear their shrimp has gotten bigger from their Viet Hoa days. They missed our order at first and I appreciate the staff owning up to it when I followed up. Appreciate them for being honest and quickly resolve the situation. I got my shrimp fix for sure and they really hit the spot. Customer service is top notch! My partner ordered the Mi Quang H10 and I ordered the Bun Rieu. Both are so amazing. I remembered loving their blood cake and I added an extra order for my H11 Bun Rieu. They make those in house and you can tell they are fresh as it doesn't have a strong taste. The restaurant is clean, large enough to host a karaoke party or just a party. So happy to see their come up... from literally a small stall in a supermarket to a huge spot. They have the best BBH in Colorado and I also really like their banh beo! Everything is so flavorful here and I always crave it. It's your typical no frills Vietnamese restaurant and I haven't had one thing that I didn't like here. It's a pretty big spot with lots of seating and the service is always top tier. read more

We got BH8 - Banh hue thap cam, baby clam rice bowl, and bun bo hue. Very delicious and fulfilling. Cant wait to go back for more! read more
great vietnamese food in denver! taking 1 star off because the service was quite slow in taking our order. i'd recommend the combination rice plate - all the items in it were perfectly charred and had great flavor. overall flavor in everything we tried was great! i'd skip the spring rolls. i would love to come back and try other things on the menu. read more

Holy moly they weren't kidding this is the best bun Bo hue and combination noodles bowl I ever had. It's hard to find a good authentic delicious bun bo hue in Colorado but this place nails it with loads of meat and pipping hot broth! The combination noodle bowl had PERFECT ratio of noodles and meat. Most viet places just top the bowl with meat making it look it has a good amount of meat but it's just one layer on top. This place puts meat throughout the whole bowl. And cooked to perfection. Finally found one of the BEST Vietnamese places in Colorado. It's a must go. read more

After many failed attempts to eat at their old location, I finally made it. This will the first of many visits. We were seated right away and service was friendly and attentive and quick. Get the hot tea if you know how to drink Asian tea because it was good and helps with digestion. This is one of the only Vietnamese restaurants I have been in Colorado where they serve Vietnamese appetizers. We need to come back with more people in our party so we can sample the variety of appetizers. The food was delicious. The bun bo hue and pho đặc biệt were a rich nice broth. The broth alone was flavorful without needing to add hoisin or fish sauce. You can order a bowl to share with your party. The bánh xèo and bánh bẻo were so tasty. The bánh xèo was crunchy with each bite and it's loaded with pork belly, shrimp, bean sprouts, etc. The bánh bẻo was also delicious with all of the toppings. The nem lụi was delicious as well and it's a diy spring roll dish. I like that cucumbers are cut in slices so it makes wrapping easier. Overall, just so good. Food comes out fast. Service is nice. Food is delicious. Parking is small so keep that in mind. read more
