My friends and I shared several dishes, and everything had that homemade touch that reminded me of authentic Vietnamese cooking. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the dishes in English to my friends who don't speak Vietnamese. He even brought us three additional slices of bánh mì to go with our bò kho (beef stew), since the dish only comes with two slices and there were five of us. Such a thoughtful gesture! I had a very good experience at O Lien. We had a big group of twelve adults, so we did have to wait a while to get a big enough table. I heard good things about this restaurant even though it is in a sketchier part of town. The restaurant feels clean and lounge-y because of the lights and sakura trees. They have a restroom in the back. Parking was easy in their lot. I had to wait for someone to leave before I could finally park. Next door to O Lien is a Louisiana crawfish spot. The menu is extensive. You can choose rice or noodles. They have a lot of different appetizers too. The bun bo hue is popular because of the rib bone. The meat portion size is good. Pho is 15% off everyday after 4PM! The A5 cha gio (egg rolls) are good. One order is $7.99 and comes with two pieces but cut in half. They were served with noodles. I wish they had more greens. BBH6 King bun bo hue was good. At $24.99, it came with all the meats, including the bone rib and pork knuckle. It wasn't spicy, but the spicy sauce they had at the table was very spicy. C5 shrimp rice plate $15.99 came with 2 egg rolls. The shrimp was grilled nicely, and the steamed rice (not broken rice) was good. Service was really good. One thing about me? I love pork. Another thing about me? I love variety even more. So imagine my delight when I found this plate came with your standard rice, salad, and pork, but ALSO came with beef, shrimp, and egg roll, and a fried egg! This was way too much food and definitely enough to share but that's not the worst problem to have, especially at just $17. Everything on my plate was tender and flavorful and they combined surprisingly well. The pork was my favorite but if this whole combo looks intimidating I think any of the individual proteins are worth ordering if you have a different preference. I came here with a group of friends who ordered things like pho, bun bo hue, and spring rolls and they all enjoyed their's as well. My only critique is that the wait for our food was pretty long. This is a fast casual place with great food. As I walked in I was greeted quickly and told I could pick my own seat. I spent a lot of time looking at the menu and no one bothered me. When I put the menu down, someone came by to ask if I was ready to order. I had the HS10 mi quang. The food came out fairly quickly and it was delicious! My friend was visiting from LA and we were craving something Vietnamese to get. There are so many cool Viet restaurants in the area and I didn't know what to offer her (I just moved here from California). This place is awesome with modern decor and high ceilings! I used to go to PHO 75 on Havana since they were the only restaurant I could find that had incredible Banh Canh Cua (Crab Noodle Soup) But sadly they closed. It was recommended by the owner of Savory Vietnam, my former favorite Vietnamese restaurant when they closed. I loved them for the quality deliciousness that was easily accessible when shopping at Viet Hoa. I was really bummed they closed and found out a few months later they planned to open at a stand alone location. Haven't had the chance to try them until recently and boy was I missing them?! Service was one of the worst I've ever seen. We got seated at 6:45, and wasn't until 7:50 that our order was taken while others that sat after us finished before we got our orders taken. Waiter forgot our appetizers and even our waters when we asked twice. Our drinks we ordered didn't even arrive after finishing the meal. We had to cancel those. It's hard to find a good authentic delicious bun bo hue in Colorado but this place nails it with loads of meat and pipping hot broth! The combination noodle bowl had PERFECT ratio of noodles and meat. Most viet places just top the bowl with meat making it look it has a good amount of meat but it's just one layer on top. As a Bay Area Cali gal for over 25 years, I'm quite particular when it comes to Viet food as I got both my mama and MIL and my entire husband's family cooks Viet food very well. One of my favorite adventures is the ones experienced through taste. I love OC viet food as well, so when my cousin recommended this place, the food snob in me definitely said "really? Viet food in Denver? How can they even compare..." However... I was pleasantly surprised and humbled to know there is a hidden gem in this town after all. We had the banh beo, and by far, the best I've ever had. It was the exact right amount of dough- not too much, not too little. It had the pork rinds and the bits of dried shrimp, absolutely scrumptious. The bun bo hue is very flavorful, much more so that San Jose's famous BBH An Nam. They give you plenty of veggies and shrimp paste and very generous with the meat portion. Denver is much colder than Cali, so this really hit the spot. Absolutely amazing! This location is on S. Federal Blvd. and has a very small parking lot that shares it with the surrounding businesses. The staff was very nice and attentive. Providing great suggestions on the menu when we asked. They also have a happy hour on their phone starting at 4 PM daily. It's a great deal! I don't remember what my friends got, but I got the brisket pho. The soup flavor was very savory and the brisket was cooked well. The noodles, of course were a great addition to the pho. The space itself is rather large. Plenty of seating with a stage as well. I would definitely suggest this for hosting a large gathering. Looking for some solid BBH and Hue food in general is hard to come by in Denver. We had been trying to go to O Lien when they first opened at their old location, but never could get up there. Finally, they opened a little closer and we were able to drop by on a weekend night. The restaurant is spacious enough to have a bigger party , which is nice. We have always been seated promptly , but I have seen there be a line before. The BBH is flavorful and is quite a big portion. We also order the combo banh hue plate and that always satisfies my cravings because you get a little bit of everything. I have also tried the Bun rieu and it's not bad at all. After many failed attempts to eat at their old location, I finally made it. This will the first of many visits. We were seated right away and service was friendly and attentive and quick. Get the hot tea if you know how to drink Asian tea because it was good and helps with digestion. This is one of the only Vietnamese restaurants I have been in Colorado where they serve Vietnamese appetizers. We need to come back with more people in our party so we can sample the variety of appetizers. The food was delicious. The bun bo hue and pho đặc biệt were a rich nice broth. The broth alone was flavorful without needing to add hoisin or fish sauce. You can order a bowl to share with your party. The bánh xèo and bánh bẻo were so tasty. The bánh xèo was crunchy with each bite and it's loaded with pork belly, shrimp, bean sprouts, etc. The bánh bẻo was also delicious with all of the toppings. The nem lụi was delicious as well and it's a diy spring roll dish. I like that cucumbers are cut in slices so it makes wrapping easier. Overall, just so good. Food comes out fast. Service is nice. Rumor has it this is the best place for bun bo hue and pho in Denver. I confirmed the rumor is true. Growing up in a Vietnamese household with a mom who owned a Vietnamese restaurant years ago, I can tell you I am the biggest snob when it comes to Bun Bo Hue and Pho. But let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. It tastes almost homemade. Chef definitely made it with love. Both pho and bbh broth were perfectly cooked with the right amount of spices and very flavorful. I am not from Denver. But I will definitely make a stop here whenever I am in town. I saw a Facebook food group's post featuring O Lien and the pictures looked great so I decided to check it out. Well, I actually preferred the original Pho 79 (?) where this space used to be. There's nothing wrong with O Lien's food, they just look better on photos than they tasted. The Banh Xeo came out golden in color just like how I craved any pancakes. But boy it is fried so cripsy hard I was afraid of my crown coming off! I think what it is is rice crepe that they brushed egg liquid on and then deep fried, but because the rice crepe is not a flaky product to begin with, it just became crispy cardboard. Bun Bo Hue was fine, nothing bad, nothing too outstanding, just average. Can't complain about service. I am curious about the "stage" looking thing with neon lights, wonder if they have karaoke bar here. No matter, the karaoke alone won't make this my destination. read more

We apparently caught this restaurant on a bad day. Service was extremely slow. It took our limeade 30 minutes to arrive after we ordered it, and after we had received a portion of our food. The two waiters seemed totally overwhelmed by the large crowd on a Monday at lunch. Also, the restaurant was a mess with multiple tables littered with dirty dishes. We ordered four dishes, one of which wasn't delivered for an hour until we asked what happened to it. That one was the Nem Lui Hue, which turned out to be our favorite of the things we ordered.
