Got the medium beef pho and it's a really good size. Broth isn't too oily and they don't hold back on the meat. This location is way bigger than their old one but somehow lost none of the flavor. The rice noodle plate was just as good, with nice crunchy egg rolls and nuoc mam that's full of flavor. Totally deserving of the Michelin status. read more

Havent eat at Phơ 79 over 10+ years. Everytime I passed by the old place, saw the parking lot and the line. I turn to Phơ 86. Stop by today for dinner at their new location, by ABC supermarket. The place is very nice and clean, I can see they have over 45 tables avail. The Phơ flavor is still the same like I can remember. Big parking lot. Very satisfy with the visit today. Recomend OC ppl stop by give it a try read more

The new location is "Now Open". Unfortunately this formerly James Beard award winning place is just not it used to be even though the staffed claimed they just moved from the old location. Broth was just lukewarm. Lettuce was not fresh and tasted bitter. Can't comprehend how any restaurant who wants to do a good job can screw up something like that unless they just don't care any more. The fast-food style service stayed the same. So sadly with the much downgraded food experience there is really no point to go back there anymore. read more

Food is taste great but the workers are sloppy with the orders. The Pho Tai Chin to go order was supposed to have two meats (cooked and rare) but instead they only gave one meat (cooked chin). read more

I used to go to their old location with my family and I was so happy to hear they found a larger space! Their food is AMAZING. There's a reason it's a staple. I got their shrimp pho and their thai iced tea. The broth was clean and clear and the noodles were perfectly thin. The thai iced tea was alright, but a little sweet for me. The service was also eh , but it's a trade off. Overall, another great experience! read more

Pho 79 - New Westminster Location Visit: Saturday, August 1, 2026 This was my first visit to the new location with my wife and my brother-in-law. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations. Parking - 1/5 The restaurant shares a parking lot with all of the businesses in the plaza. The parking lot was full, congested, and difficult to navigate. Finding a parking space was very challenging because of the heavy traffic in and out of the plaza. Service - 2/5 The waitress was not very polite or welcoming. There were no napkins on the table when we were seated, and the table caddy had an empty napkin compartment. Basic table items should be checked and replenished before seating guests. Food - 3/5 The pho was acceptable, but nothing exceptional. The broth was served hot and the beef was tender. However, the bean sprouts were broken and did not appear fresh. The biggest disappointment was the gỏi cuốn. Instead of using the traditional boiled pork (thịt heo luộc), they used grilled pork, which changed the traditional flavor. It was also missing the fresh herbs (rau thơm) that are normally included. For comparison, Brodard charges $9.00 for three traditional fresh spring rolls, while Pho 79 charges $7.75 for two rolls that are not prepared in the traditional style. In my opinion, Brodard offers better value, better quality, and a more authentic product. Atmosphere - 4/5 The restaurant is spacious, modern, and beautifully decorated. However, the air conditioning was weak, and the entrance door remained open while customers were dining, making the restaurant less comfortable. Men's Restroom - 2/5 The men's restroom was messy. Used paper towels and trash were scattered across the floor, and the trash receptacle appeared full. A clean restroom reflects a restaurant's attention to detail, and this one needed better maintenance. Value - 2/5 The prices are higher than many comparable Vietnamese restaurants, but the overall quality and customer service did not justify the cost. Overall Rating: 2.5/5 I had high expectations because Pho 79 has earned many awards and has an excellent reputation. I respect what the restaurant has accomplished over the years. However, awards do not replace consistent customer service. The pictures speak for themselves. They show the open entrance during lunch service, the empty napkin holder, the condition of the men's restroom, and the food we were served. While the restaurant is attractive and the pho was acceptable, the difficult parking, poor customer service, weak air conditioning, lack of attention to detail, and non-traditional spring rolls made this visit disappointing. I hope management views this as constructive feedback and works to maintain the standards that earned Pho 79 its reputation in the first place. read more

Phở 79 was once well-known for its original spot, but after relocating to the new location, the cooking technique has altered, and the taste has diminished from its former state; however, the new area is spacious and beautifully designed. The review ends here--based on the bowl's quality and the price, it's merely average. read more

I heard Pho 79 opened a new, bigger and nicer location and I was honestly so excited to try it. I've been going to the old location for about 7 years and it's been one of my favorite pho spots, so I was a little sad when I started seeing reviews saying the food wasn't the same and that service was slow. I was really hoping that wouldn't be my experience. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed :( I ordered the oxtail pho, which used to be my FAVORITE thing here. The broth still has a similar flavor profile, but it's definitely not the same. It was much clearer and didn't have that same rich, flavorful taste I remember from the old location. The oxtail was the most disappointing part. Pho 79 genuinely used to have some of the BEST oxtail I've ever had. It was always so tender and flavorful but this time the meat was extremely tough and honestly unenjoyable to eat I came with friends who have also been to the old location before, and they agreed that the broth wasn't as flavorful as it used to be. They did have a better experience with their food since they ordered the pho tai, and the rare beef was still good, but we were all a little sad that it just didn't taste the same. I'm really hoping this is just part of the transition to the new location and that they're still getting everything dialed in. After going to Pho 79 for 7 years, I definitely want to give them another chance because the old location was genuinely one of my favorite pho spots. I really hope they can bring back the quality and flavor that made Pho 79 so good in the first place read more

They accept card now!!! Omg I remember their old location was cash only. The food is great as always the garlic butter chicken. Only issue was my order was messed up. But the inside was beautiful and still have some of the old paintings they had in the last location like the horse painting!!! read more

Had the beef and brisket pho with a side of ox tail. All were very flavorful. The medium bowl was a good size. Saw that some people didn't like the service. I think it's more of a vibe, direct and fast. Came on a Friday afternoon early evening. There was plenty of seating. read more

New location. Bigger parking lot bigger restaurant but nooooo it's not the same anymore :( broth is pretty watered down. Sad face all around. Is this the end of an era? They do take credit cards now though. read more

The food was excellent. The parking was far easier than at the old location. We were seated quickly and the ambiance was very clean, modern and spacious (unusual for a pho place). They proudly display all their recognition awards (James Beard, etc.) - very impressive run that attests to their excellence. The service was ok (had to flag the waiter down because he was very busy). The food came out after a reasonable amount of time. Prices were reasonable. I can see why this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants. Definitely worth the trip! read more

Haven't had Pho 79 in a long time even at their old spot for about 4 yrs. Finally gave it another try at their new location. The restaurant inside is much more spacious and has more seating. We went on a Wednesday morning around 9am so it was not crowded and the waiter was able to assist us right away. I got the pho with fatty brisket and tendons, side of vinaigrette white chopped onions and green onions heads in fatty broth. The food came out relatively quick. I always like to taste the food exactly the ways it is before adding ingredients or condiments. First looked at the pho bowl and I noticed that the broth is definitely much lighter than before at the old location. The first sip of the broth I was anticipating the nostalgia for that rich flavorful flavor of the beef bone broth that's been shimmering for days on low heat, causing the meat to fall of the bone as it is picked out What I got was a bit bland taste lacking that. The pho noodles was cooked just right with a little al dent-a to it, the fatty brisket definitely taste better than when it was at the old spot, & at least the tendons taste consistent as it should. The fatty broth that the green onions heads definitely helped the pho broth adding more flavorful to it. All in All, I may give it a try again down the road to see if the flavor becomes more richer over time. read more

I usually get the Super Bowl and loved it -- but at the new location it tasted different. Not sure if they changed the recipe or switched ingredients, but the flavors felt off and the balance was less bold than before. Service was fine and the place is clean, so I'll give them another try, but I hope they bring back the original taste. read more

Pho 79 used to be one of my fav for as long as I can remember. New location at Bolsa and Magnolia has the worst service ever. All the teenage male waiters were rude and had no professionalism. I stood at the front door and after 5 minutes no one came to greet us. One punk ass kid stop by the front podium to retrieve menus and again completely ignored me. I screamed at him 'HEY' and he rudely told me to sign in and wait, which I've done and waited over 5 minutes. Sad to say I'm never coming back. Owner should train their employees better cause they've lost one of their most loyal customer! So much competition now that I don't need to put up bad attitude even for a good bowl of pho! read more

What happen to this shop?? It looks like upgrading to a bigger store made the food crappy and the service bad. I came with my family and ordered pho and bun cha. The bun cha here is actually a sleeper dish and was really good. I don't know what they did but the meat was raw, the portion shrunk and the taste was off. For the pho, the broth seems to have more msg than normal. What made me sad the most is the portion I got for xe lua. I usually share this with my daughter. When I split it with my daughter, there wasn't enough for her. The amount of noodles they give only fills one fourth of the small bowl ( the one they provide yoi when you share). Also, what happened to the meat?? There was like 6 piece of meat in my bowl. Basically the bowl was 90 percent broth. I go to the old shop a lot so I know how the portions is suppose to be. I will give the pho 79 some time to adjust to their new place. I might come back in a few months in hopes everything is back to normal. On the bright side, the restaurant is beautiful! read more

Horrible service and extremely unorganized. This location is definitely much bigger than the original, but unfortunately, I'm not sure I would recommend coming here...at least not yet. There were so many people waiting and taking up the booth seating by the entrance while waiting to be seated. The service was extremely slow, and the host was walking around the restaurant calling people by name to get them seated, which made the whole process feel very unorganized. As I was waiting, I noticed there were plenty of open seats available, so I really wasn't sure what the hold-up was. I do want to give them the benefit of the doubt since this location is barely up and running, and I really hope they're able to work out these issues in the future. Unfortunately, by the time I was finally seated, I felt like I had wasted so much time waiting that I could have gone somewhere else, been seated immediately, and already had my food by then. Tables could definitely use napkins holders to avoid flagging workers down for more napkins. And idk the broth here tasted a little different to me vs the original location. Tasted sweet almost. Wasn't feeling it. And the food could definitely come out more hotter, the soup was just warm. read more

Way too overpriced for mediocre pho. Why bother the gimmick of tiny size, it's literally like sample size, big size is literally the same as medium size but with more broth, spring rolls were almost $9 for 2, tasted lame, full of lettuce no herbs. Service was all over the place. Oh and onions and scallion heads are extra on top of your expensive pho! Aside from the aesthetic, this place was a disappointment. 1 time visit for nostalgia. read more

Food was aromatic and tasty but portions were slightly smaller than advertised .Appreciate that they gave more meat than noodles. Ambiance was very nice, however they took a long time to clean tables so you may have to wait a while. Waiters were nice and absolutely loved the ox tail. Highly recommended!!! I have been a fan of Pho 79 for many decades but this new location really impressed me. Parking was ample...there's also a lot in the back. The new spot is much more spacious and the service was good. However, our bowls of Pho were warm and bland. Will not be back.

Excellent atmosphere, fast service, very tasty pho and plenty of veggies to choose from and wonderful space between tables. The new location is clean and spacious with quick service. However the food quality has been compromised. This is the second time that happened to our entire table. We went here to try out the new restaurant after they moved and got to say I was underwhelmed and annoyed by the experience. We are Viet, speak Vietnamese, grew up in Bolsa and understand the expectations of Vietnamese-ran restaurants but this is below standards of normal Vietnamese restaurants, let alone one that try to pushes its "Michelin recognition" on its patrons . The positives: 1) The restaurant was huge and we were sat immediately 2) The smell of pho was amazing The negatives: 1) Service was non-existence, we had to wave down the workers multiple times just to get our orders and for other requests. The workers were all young kids that were not trained properly or don't care. 2) Got my order wrong but it was more hassle to try to flag someone down to correct it. 3) Being a pho place, it took over 10 mins to get our pho. 4.) We asked for extra plates and utensils multiple times and didn't get it until we walked up to the hostess stand to request for it. Overall, the experience left us not wanting to go back especially when there's so many pho places in Bolsa . I can't say I see the difference between the pho here and another one down the street with better services. read more

The new Pho79 is basically hidden. It is behind Bank of America kinda. This has been and is now one of the best pho restaurants around. There are other really good ones too-- Pho Lovers, Pholocolics. The new Pho79 seats about 300 people. It has been open only 3 weeks now and has maxed out on their seating several times during the saturday and sunday. There is a lot of parking in the front and back and sides. They now accept credit cards. Their Pho beef broth is heavenly. The most subtle favorable broth of the leading restaurants. They have 3 sizes of bowels small, large, and giant. Giant means really big. Noodles are well noodles. Their meats seem to me to be a step above in quality than most. Service was good and fast. Pho79 is now accessible to everyone. forgot Their chili oil is really good and they bring enough bean sprouts and vegs. Their small bowl was $13 or so on 8/14/2026 read more
