Long story short: My family loves Com Tam Dao Vien. They have been a loyal fan for years and refused to try broken rice any where else. This means they can eat here ALL year round. I gotta agree with them though, the marinated pork here is so flavorful, not too sweet, the pork texture is tender and the smell is AMAZING.. My goto here is usually is the Vermicilli with Spring roll since Im not a big fan of rice platter. However, in my most recent visit with my friend, we both order broken rice, and wow, it still hits! There is something about the small grain rice mixing with the chargrilled pork, shrimp wrapped in tofu skin, adding some fish sauce, mhmm, perfection. My friend loved the omelette, she said they were cooked perfectly!
There are so many vietnamese restaurants in Westminster but this is the first AYCE one that I've seen. Basic AYCE is $24.99 and upgraded is $34.99. The restaurant is decent sized and pretty quiet. They offer high chairs which is a plus if you're coming with toddlers. Service is quick and the food is decent. Got their 5 meats and an order of their bo lat lop which was okay. The star would be their AYCE deal but only downfall is that they don't allow you to share.
Arrived on a Tuesday night and there was no wait. We did the ayce basic option ($24.99 per person). The upgraded option was $34.99 per person. Service was very nice. Overall fun for ayce and decent pricing. Come hungry. We tried multiple of everything on the ayce menu - Rice ~ rice was good, standard rice and had pickled veggies on the side. I love pickled veggies and just asked for a plate of them and they brought it to me. - Vermicelli ~ we only got one portion but it was a huge portion! - Pork skin ~ not my favorite, comes in a small (fish sauce sized) bowl - Fried egg ~ nice to put over the rice - Steamed egg - Grilled sausage ~ probably one of my favorites. Good flavor. - Grilled pork ~ thinner cuts of pork. Second favorite. - Grilled pork chop ~ juicer and fattier than grilled pork - Grilled chicken ~ delicious - Passion fruit juice / soda ~ not on the ayce but recommended by waiter. It was quite sweet for me.
Food was delicious. Portion is huge!! lol Our waiter is very knowledgeable and friendly. If you order 5 plates, 6th plate is free, and you can take it Togo. First time trying this place, but it won't be the last. This place also have the AYCE option as well, but honestly.. you'll be really full after the first plate. Overall, it's a definite try if you are in Orange County.
I came here on a weekday afternoon for lunch and we had quick service, and a delicious meal! Food came out relatively quick. The suon (pork chop) was moist and juicy compared to other place and seasoning was on point. My boyfriend got the combo 5 with tau hu ky which was ultra crispy and freshly made. Restaurant has lots of open seating and is very spacious for big parties to eat! High recommend for a easy no frills Vietnamese lunch.
Dao Vien is simple, consistent Vietnamese food that isn't trying to be something it's not. It's my go-to when I can't decide which broken rice spot to hit. Big portions, steady flavors and a place that knows what it's good at. This time, I got the #31 with fried shrimp-stuffed tofu skin, grilled pork, shredded pork skin and steamed egg loaf over broken rice. It comes loaded with pickled cabbage and carrots, cucumber and scallion oil, with sweet fish sauce and broth on the side. Basically a Vietnamese buffet plate over broken rice, which is exactly why it works. They have an actual AYCE menu too, but I haven't tried it myself. The broken rice was cooked just right. Fluffy, moist and ready to soak up the sweet fish sauce, pork fat and scallion oil. That's when the plate stops being separate parts and turns into comfort food. The fried shrimp-stuffed tofu skin was crispy outside with big coarse chunks of shrimp inside. Good texture, good flavor and exactly the kind of protein that makes the plate feel special without yelling about it. The grilled pork was better than the photo makes it look: balanced marinade, not overly salty and enough char to remind you grilled pork needs to taste like it met fire. Not the most tender pork ever, but it was flavorful and satisfying. The shredded pork skin tied the plate together once you bless it with sweet fish sauce. Steamed egg loaf was solid too: soft, savory and doing quiet support work while the louder proteins got attention. The pickled cabbage/carrots had a nice crunch without being too sweet or too vinegary. The place was packed during lunch and moving fast with full Vietnamese auntie efficiency: nobody looked relaxed, there was zero emotional cushioning, but it ran like clockwork. Food took about 10 minutes, came out piping hot and service was good. Parking is busy since it's basically a strip mall lot, so don't expect the easiest quick in-and-out during lunch. Dao Vien is still one of my top 5 cơm tấm spots. Big portions, consistent flavors and enough contrast between crispy tàu hũ ky, smoky thịt nướng, chewy bì, crunchy đồ chua and that little kiss of nước chấm that keeps every spoonful interesting.
Banh Hoi with shrimp beancurd wrap and beef wrap were fresh, crispy and delicious. The veggies and wrap complemented them perfectly. Stafff were nice and attentive. Ambiance is casual.
The food here is quite good. There are few places that serve banh hoi dishes and this place does it well. The bo la lot is juicy and flavorful and the shrimp bean curd is light and crispy. Plenty of herbs and veggies to wrap and enjoy. My only complaint was the water to saturate the rice paper was lukewarm at best. Expect the place to be busy and loud. But the servers turnover the tables quickly to get you seated quickly.
This restaurant was so overrated, they had a slick video my sister watched it on (YouTube I think) so she insisted we went there for a family reunion. We waited 40 minutes for a table for 11 people, I almost wanted to leave. They advertised ayce but who can possibly eat more than 1 plate? So much rice it's filling. They brag about everything grilled but maybe it's barely grilled after being cooked in the oven. I did not taste too much the flambé flavor. The grilled pork was too dry, the fried tofu was chewy. The worst dish was the $39.99 for a fish soup n caramelized catfish, so overpriced n all the grilled meats were so sweet it was inedible. were so sweet , the dipping sauce was literally syrup, I added so much lemon but couldn't get rid of the overwhelming sweet taste. The egg rolls were bland no substance what in the world did they put in there. Service was so slow n they forgot to bring my order! I had to eat from my husband plate! The coke was 100% flat I complained n got no relief, most restaurant would have replaced it w another drink, very bad customer service. I was very upset at how I was treated n will never come back here. It's overrated, overpriced I feel we were mistreated there are plenty of broken rice restaurant much better than this but I can't recommend it as Yelp might not allow it, I posted a longer version on other social medias, it's the wild west out there, you post whatever you want, 3 stars are generous and I'm not going back here.
Com tam (Vietnamese broken rice) here is pretty good. The portion size is huge and for the price, it's definitely worth it. You can for sure share one dish with another person. I was hungry that day so I basically devoured that shit after the gym. My dish came with two pieces for pork, a side of pork skin, one egg, an egg cake, some veggies and rice. My grandma got the noodle dish with pork and veggies. Each dish does come with soup. The soup has lots of MSG though. The service was quick and our food came out fast and hot. They also have all you can eat here, but I don't think it's worth because one portion can already get you freakin' full, unless you starve yourself for like 4 days of fasting lol. It's a good quick bite spot if you are around town.
We decided to go with the all-you-can-eat option for our table of seven, and it was absolutely worth it. One thing to keep in mind: they are very serious about food waste and will charge a penalty if you over-order and don't finish. My advice is to start small and wait for the first round to arrive before ordering more. We ordered six dishes and we should have started it with 5 just to be safe. They give you a chance to order a second round. The portions are incredibly generous. When the platters of meat started coming out, we were honestly shocked at how much food there was and wondered if we could finish it all! Everything was beautifully marinated, cooked perfectly, and packed with flavor. The chicken was especially tender and juicy, and every meat dish that came to the table was impressive. I can't even remember all the names of the items we ordered, but every single one was delicious. In the end, with tax and tip included, it came out to about $34 per person for all-you-can-eat, which felt like a great value for the quality and quantity of food we received. If you come hungry, you definitely won't be disappointed. This is a fantastic spot for a big group and a hearty meal.
Everything was delish! As far as pricing, it's pretty reasonable and with generous amount. The place is decent considering the building is old. The service is good and the staff are very helpful. I love how I can customize my plate and they were able to accommodate me. Will definitely be back for more!
Came here as my first Vietnamese all-you-can-eat spot and honestly got my money's worth. The place is in a strip mall with plenty of parking, nothing fancy inside, chairs are kinda hard (metal, no cushion), but the staff is super sweet and attentive with smiles. Pork chop had legit good flavor with that nice char, and the noodles, eggs, and rice together hit the spot. Selection is small, and by the second round you kinda burn out on this type of food, but for the price and the chill experience, it's a win.

Wanted something light for dinner since we've been eating carbs every day. I suggested bun to my hubby, and he was down to try this place! We've been seeing this spot on Instagram for their AYCE option, but they also offer à la carte, which was perfect since we weren't able to do AYCE this time. Service was good, and the ambiance is pretty typical of a Vietnamese food shop, simple and casual. We ordered the pork, egg roll, crispy tofu, and shrimp vermicelli, and everything was so good! The vermicelli was flavorful and satisfying without feeling too heavy. Definitely worth coming back to try more dishes. Would recommend! read more
This was my first time trying Cơm Tấm Đào Viên, even though I've been to this shopping center many times. It seems like this restaurant has been around for quite a while, and the menu has a lot of different options. I ordered the cơm tấm sườn bì chả, while my husband ordered cơm tấm bì chả tàu hũ ky, with an extra piece of chả and tàu hũ ky. We both thought the food was very good. The chả was firm and well made, and the tàu hũ ky had plenty of shrimp , you could really taste and feel it with the first bite. The bì had a generous amount of meat and was nicely seasoned. The pork chop was tender and juicy, not dry at all. The service was friendly and polite. The only thing I would mention is that the food took a little while to come out. If you're in a hurry, I would recommend calling ahead and ordering for pickup , it will probably save you quite a bit of time. The restaurant is spacious and airy, which makes dining there feel very comfortable. Overall, a good first experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more items from the menu. read more

Good food and huge portions! My husband and I are new to the area and love trying new places to eat, so we decided to check out this AYCE Vietnamese restaurant after seeing their menu on Instagram. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall. When we arrived during dinner time, the place was nearly full, which we took as a good sign. The atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming--like a family-style restaurant. We were seated right away and offered drinks. Since we had already looked at the menu beforehand, we knew what we wanted and placed our order pretty quickly. For the first round, they provide a list of items you can choose from. My husband and I both ordered vermicelli bowls, and we each decided to try an order of all the proteins available. Our food took a little longer than expected to come out, but it was also a busy dinner hour, so it was understandable. When the food finally arrived, we were surprised by how much was served in the first round--the portions were huge! We started getting full pretty quickly. If we came back, I think we would do it a little differently. We'd probably order one vermicelli bowl to share and then order more proteins to really get our money's worth--or even just split a single meal. At $25 per person, it's definitely worth it if you have a big appetite. Otherwise, the portions are still very generous. The flavors were great overall. My favorites were the lemongrass pork chop and the meatloaf with egg. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu. read more
This place os great! Ayce com tham?? Wow! Tbh, its 25$ and I can only eat one plate, so I didn't make my money's worth! Lol the upgraded menu is 35$. Its definitely not worth it for my family and I bc its really only egg rolls and springrolls and 2 limit korean ribs. It also has bean curd shrimp. The restaurant is pretty small inside, bit many tables, but the service was good. They came by a lot to ask if we needed more meat. I believe they make money with this ayce bc rice and noodles fill you up quickly. I couldn't give this a 5 bc i didnt like the steam egg (quiche) and the nem nuong. Everything else was fantastic. I especially loved making lettuce wraps with my meat and dunking it in my nuc mam. They have thai chili which was fantastic! Most of all ny kids loved it here! The people ate so nice here and the food comes out quick! It was a Friday night too, so that was cool! We will definitely come again. Ayce is all day now so that is a plus! read more

Sooooooo glad that I decided to get a plate of Com Tam today. I got the #33 Combo which has Tofu skin wrapped Shrimp, Pork Chop, Shredded Pork Skin and Steamed Egg Loaf. This is what I usually get with Broken Rice plates. I did not expect this to be one of the best places I've ever been to. I was just blown away by their flavors. Even the Nuoc Cham (fish sauce) was amazing. It's definitely on the spicy side and not overly sweet like most other places. They also include some pickled cabbage which is an excellent palate cleanser. Lastly they give a great clear soup garnished with some fresh green onions. I will repeatedly return to Com Tam Dao Vien. read more

Haven't been back here for awhile and was in the area so stopped by for some com tam. Still the same decor, same setup, same menu, same woman work there and same good old tasting com tam. easy parking since simi big parking lot. Oh they do have AYCE at 2 levels; regular ($25) & premium ($28-$30). The foods are still great and tasting. The marinated is quite nice and well cook. Friendly & attentive staff. Spacious and clean place. Ordered (#28 I think) 5 colors or 5 items & hot tea, total with tip is $21. Glad I stopped by. Still just yum! read more
This was our first food stop down in Orange County and I got to say, this place didn't disappoint. We came towards closing because that was when we came into town. The place was still pretty lively surprisingly. A lot of people came in for to go order and people ordering their famouse AYCE com tam. We decided to go a la carte this time. Com 5 Mau (8.5/10): The plate, I gotta say, was HUGE. I didn't expect to be that much. The rice was standard and delicious. Between the bo nuong and thit nuong, I liked the thit nuong more. The bo was a bit more dry. However, it was delicious and had a nice char taste to both. There was a good amount of bi in the dish itself. The cha was decent, nothing too special. The tau hu ky was very delicious. It was STUFFED with shrimp in the middle, compared to other places have a lot of air pockets in the middle. The broth that accompany it was better than I thought because it looked clear so I was skeptic. Overall, I love this place and I would come back again. I will be bold and try their AYCE option. read more

I've passed by this spot many times but hadn't tried it until today, when I stopped by the bakery next door and finally decided to check it out after reading some decent reviews. I ordered a combo with Cơm Tấm Tàu Hũ Ký, Chả, and Gà for $17, plus a Sườn, Bì, Chả combo for $12 to eat at the restaurant, and another Thịt Nướng, Chả, Bì combo to go, also for $12. $12 for a 3 item cơm tấm combo is cheap, but unfortunately, the quality was poor. The meat quality was disappointing. Instead of using real pork chops for the grilled pork, it seemed like they used a cheaper cut. The chả was just okay ,not bad, but nothing special. Overall, the dish was filling, but it lacked the flavor and satisfaction I usually expect from a good cơm tấm plate. The service was friendly, though a bit slow even though it wasn't busy at the time. The restaurant itself is clean, has plenty of seating, and plenty of parking spaces around! read more
AS you may or may not know i do not give out 5 stars often. But this place truly deserves the accolades. From the bright and clean interior to the friendly staff it just adds to the amazing rice dishes they serve here. That's if you're in the mood for rice, if not they have a variety of cold vermicelli dishes to suit your palette. With an extensive menu that they have is easy to precook some of the proteins, but this place brings the grilled meats out hot instead of it being a little warmer than room temperature. Portions are plentiful as my daughter couldn't finish her vermicelli bowl and has to bring it home. I loved every bite of my rice plate. This place is worth it and prices are reasonable in this day and age. read more
The grilled pork (thit nuon) could have used a bit more char on the outside for that deeper caramelized flavor, but I have to say, it wasn't dry at all, which was good. The dipping sauce leaned toward the sweeter side, which might not be for everyone. The broken rice had this slightly different texture than regular jasmine rice, kind of more delicate and almost fluffier in a way. It soaked up all the flavors from everything else on the plate beautifully. Now, the surprise star of the plate was the fried bean curd. I wasn't expecting much from it, but it was seriously good, hot and fresh right out of the fryer. That crispy exterior with the soft interior was spot on. The pickled vegetables on the side, provided that essential tangy crunch that cuts through the richness. Honestly, this is comfort food done pretty well. A few tweaks would make it perfect, but I'd definitely come back for this again if craving and in the area. Service was fast and friendly. Split a plate but they provided 2 soups and dipping sauce. Quite Nice! read more

This establishment is widely regarded as the finest broken rice restaurant in Little Saigon. The flavors are consistently excellent, and the charcoal-grilled meats are a particular highlight, offering a delightful aroma and taste. Despite the restaurant often being quite busy, the service remains pleasant and accommodating. It embodies the characteristics of a typical Asian restaurant, and a visit to sample their cuisine is highly recommended. The portion sizes are notably generous, offering substantial value, and the pricing is very reasonable with a wide array of choices. They also offer some comforting, family-style dishes. read more
I went here for the AYCE menu this weekend and I must say it is pretty good! The hours for the AYCE are 5-8 however I heard they recently got updated to 3-8. The food is very good and if you have never had com tam I think the food here would be a pretty good introduction to it. The service of the restaurant is quite good as well and they are very quick to refill waters and check up on you. We were seated very quickly and they were quick to show us the menu and the AYCE option The ambiance of the restaurant is nice as well. When we went(dinner on weekend) there was plenty of seating and it was clean. Parking is also okay to find as well. Overall, I would recommend going here! The price of $20 for AYCE is amazing and the food quality is definitely worth the price! read more

This is my go to place when i'm craving com tam! The food was super fresh and crispy (egg rolls and bean curd shrimp). They give generous portions as well. I usually share my plate of food with my sibling. They also give a complimentary soup with every order. The restaurant is a little cramped but there are a lot of tables. read more
