Bun Cha 1008 has been in my radar for a while. Finally made it here to try it out. Since it is a very small place that does more of to go orders than dining in, the wait could be long. They only have four tables for dining in. We came before noon and waited for about an hour for a table of four. So worth it though. The bun cha was delicious, and we expected that. I like it that you can chose which type of meat for this dish, lean, medium, or more fatty. All types for all tastes. We also tried their crab meat egg rolls (another house specialty!) and the crab meat/paste noodles soup with tofu and other protein varieties. Everything was fantastic. Service was excellent once you're seated. The young man was quick to bring everything we needed and so pleasant. He had to do everything at the front of the restaurant, and even ran the cash register. There were only a few workers servicing the many needs for the volume of to orders and dining-in customers. He even asked if we liked the foods when I paid. So good customer service. So polite and respectful. Needless to say, we took good care of him at checkout. They work very hard. read more

The food here is so good and fresh, the bun cha dac biet, was amazing, meat was very delicious and fish sauce was great, the fresh veggie and herbs were clean and fresh. We also ordered the fried crab egg roll, it was delicious and you can tell they use fresh, real crab meat, not fake stuff. The menu is really small, probably only 12 items including drink options, that should tell you everything you need to know, the stuff on the small menu is all they do really well! I would highly recommend this place to friends and family. After the great amazing food we had, I waddled back to my car and the young man that worked there ran out of the restaurant after me, to tell me I forgot my cell phone. Casual bun cha restaurant located in the same plaza as the Stanton Walmart grocery that is across from rodeo 39. I've been looking for a bun cha spot that rivals the Michelin star bun cha restaurant in Hanoi and while this restaurant is the closest that I've tried in the US. I ordered the combo bun cha Hanoi that comes with pork shoulder, pork belly and pork cheek. I'm not a huge fan of the pork patty as I can't tell it's grilled since it doesn't taste smokey. The pork belly however is a stand out. I was disappointed to only see one small slice because it was my favorite part of the meal so I'll make sure to get the pork belly plate next time. There's only like 4 or 5 tables and they recommend you eat togo, but today we ate in. The crab rolls came out piping hot, but so good. They had amazing texture and flavor. I'm Vietnamese-American, but will seldom go out of my way to dine at Vietnamese restaurants. It's not because I can cook the dishes better myself (lord knows I need to leave any and all ingredients alone), but rather because I feel like taste is subjective. If dishes don't taste like the ones my aunts and parents cooked growing up, I'll probably end up not wanting to come back. For example, my Aunt Helen has the best bun rieu in the history of the dish, I feel. She used to cook it for me growing up and I think about it all the time. For that reason, I've been on the hunt for the best bun rieu in all of Orange County. I think I just might have found it here at Bun Cha 1008. The broth is exquisite, rieu proportions are incredible, tofu is stewed to perfection, and there is the right amount of vermicelli in the bowl. The tomato was bussin' bussin', but could go for another 15 min of stewing. Even then, it was still delicious and I'm just nitpicking. If there's no other dish you try here, let their bun rieu speak for itself. The imperial eggrolls were packed with crab meat and suuuuper crispy. I was impressed by the portion and texture! If you have that wrapped in their lettuce, you could probably have that appetizer serve as a meal on its own. Now for their signature dish: bun cha from the Ha Noi region of Vietnam! My dad really enjoyed this dish because the cha was moist and not dry like other restaurants he's used to. The thit nuong was very yummy and flavorful. Omg! I've been dying to try Bun Cha since watching the Anthony B and Obama episode in Vietnam and I heard this is the place to try legit Bun Cha - and it's true! The bun cha is perfectly charred with that bbq taste and so juicy! And the eggroll!! CHEF'S KISS! It was just mild enough for you to control your own ruốc adventure. They include plenty of variety with their toppings which I appreciated. The bún chả hà nội đặc biệt is probably one of the best versions I've had in Westminster. All the meats had a nice char despite marinating in the broth. And! I went around 3 pm and some of their menu items were sold out (once they're out, they're out until the next day). My friend and I got Bun Cha Ha Noi and their coconut kumquat drink. However this small hole in the wall place makes amazing bun rieu. They gave plenty of toppings/protien to the dish. The nem cua be (not pictured) was large and can be shared as appetizers between 2-3 people. It was stuffed with crab and was super fresh. My brother ordered the bun cha and complemented how amazing it was. We ordered food to go but didn't have to wait long. We waited at most 10 mins for food to come out. The person up front generously gave us fresh chili since we love our food spicy! Don't let the small shop deter you. Food quality was superb and can't be anywhere else. Trying out this place near my parent's house and was pleased with the food. It was very tasty. When you walk in you're hit with the smell of nuoc mam. The inside is small and only has like 4 tables. It's definitely more of a to go spot than sit in restaurant. I believe they had a 5% discount if you order to go. Hubby and I ate inside the restaurant an then ordered some to go for my parents. Love this place! Clean, quick (once seated) and phenomenal service. Took my mom here for lunch on Sunday, waited about 25 minutes for a table. There are only 5 tables here. My mom complains a lot about food, but she actually enjoyed the crab egg rolls saying the wrap was really good quality and easy to bite into. I got food poisoning from eating their bun rieu Cau Dong. No restroom for paying customers to use. Any seat down or dining inside table restaurant or bistro has to have available restroom access. Exactly 15 minutes after departure from this business and eating their food I had to rush home and run to the toilet as soon as possible if you know what I mean. On the surface everything looks legitimate but I have never experienced any problems or issues related to food poisoning before this place. Health department of Orange County please investigate this establishment Bun Cha 1008 extensively and throughout. There is possible contamination on some level of food ingredients preparation. I liked the bun cha here. The meat patty is pretty flavorful, and it comes with vermicelli and vegetable on the side. There are plenty of parking, however, the interior is very small, and can only accommodate up to 3 groups of 4 at a time. Saw this place on Instagram, drove by it the next day, so we had to try it. I started with the kumquat coconut water, which was refreshing. I got the pork belly and boyfriend got the combo. Our favorite was the pork belly, but even more so the patties. So juicy and flavorful. Veggie spread to accompany the meat was great too. Small place with a decent (not short) wait. We first ordered the Pork Shoulder Bun Cha - $15, the Crab Eggroll Noodles - $18, and the Crab Cake Noodle Soup (Bun Rieu) - $17. The Bun Rieu had this cube of pig blood whose texture I really liked and would compare it to firm silken tofu. The crab eggrolls had a good crunchiness to them. Unexpectedly found a Hanoi style bun cha place in OC.it's behind the Lucky seafood supermarket. The charcoal grilled meat had a smoky aroma that made the dish so inviting, and the fish sauce was rich and savory with the perfect hint of sweetness. Everything was fresh, from the noodles to the herbs, balancing the flavors beautifully. The portion is very filling and only $13.00 . I would be more comfortable coming here to buy takeaway food. 3.5, still haven't found the best bun rieu at a restaurant. I did not order their bun cha.. but not like other places you don't smell the char grill from outside or inside. There are NO BATHROOMS inside, only 4-5 tables inside. They charge for water. Crushed chili on the table is not spicy for the chili lovers. Bun rieu .. is not as pictured. Lots of noodles and three rieu balls but the tofu was smaller and there was three maybe thin slices of cha or tofu skin? but it was soaked in oil & the top layer of the bowl was full of oil. I had to add fish sauce because maybe it was too bland for my taste. 5/10 for me but people might think otherwise. The crab eggroll is good but it just came out alone with nuoc mam. I saw this on an Instagram reel and also remembered the Bourdain episode. So I decided to come try this place. And I loved the food. I came at 5:30pm. There was barely anyone here. How is this possible? Bun Cha 1008 is situated in the back in this unassuming, flourescent lit food court which is not really a food court. It's more like food alcove or cubby. I ordered from the lady who definitely seems like she's from Vietnam - she was super nice and friendly and did her best to explain to me what was popular. The food came out in 2-3 minutes. I got the combo Bun Cha Ha Noi. It has pork shoulder, pork belly, and pork cheek. Also with a bunch of lettuce and a bowl of noodles. It was $19 including a bottle of water. I think the regular price of the bowl alone is $15. I didnt really know how to eat it so I did it like Bourdain and Obama did and just dipped the noodles into the meat stew. It was a bit messy that way but man was it good! The meat and broth/sauce were savory, sweet, and a little sour. The meat patties were a little more firm than I was expecting but still tasted fresh. The noodles helped balance it out and the lettuce gave it some refreshing texture. They also give mint leaves but I am not crazy about it. Bun Cha Ha Noi felt like I was eating a standard Vietnamese vermicelli dry noodle bowl but with a different twist. Kind of like eating a standard pizza and then trying a stromboli for the first time in your life. It's like that kind of difference I would say. The food court tables could be a little cleaner but oh well, it goes along with the cleanliness of the supermarket thats attached to it. Definitely coming back. Since my favorite bún chả Hà Nội spot closed many years ago, I honestly haven't been able to find a good replacement--until now. Bun Cha 1008 finally filled that void for me. I was sad when they closed their location at Lucky Market, but I'm so happy they've reopened as a small, cozy restaurant. I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet, but the bún chả Hà Nội is tasty and hits all the right notes. The portions are definitely decent and satisfying. The place is a bit of a mess but I'm thinking they're still trying to set up. The cashier is pretty new. She didn't really give the best service and seemed a bit loss. The way she responded to me made it seem like she's a bit inexperienced. The older folks around her had to help her out a bit. We all start somewhere so not going to hold it against them on this. Got a set meal which came with lettuce and noodle and sauce is already in with the meat. I thought the food was decent but very oily. I did see the lady customer in front of me that got a bunch to go. Definitely a fast take out joint than anything. Pros: Meat was cooked just right, not too dry, not too chewy, not too soft. Had good texture and char that one would expect from a fresh bun cha Ha Noi. Cons: Nuoc mam was a tad too sweet for my taste, but hubby liked it and said the flavor was there. They skimped on the noodles & veggies. Having just come back from Hanoi, I was excited to hear about a place that specializes in Bun Cha, and this place fulfilled that nostalgia almost completely. We arrived on Friday post-holiday, just 30 mins before they were scheduled to close a little early, but the lady was very gracious in taking our order, even as I could see the kitchen employees beginning to clean up. We got the combo Bun Cha Han Noi and the Wonton Noodles Mi Hoanh Thanh and they were amazing!
