Bun Cha 1008 has been in my radar for a while. Finally made it here to try it out. Since it is a very small place that does more of to go orders than dining in, the wait could be long. They only have four tables for dining in. We came before noon and waited for about an hour for a table of four. So worth it though. The bun cha was delicious, and we expected that. I like it that you can chose which type of meat for this dish, lean, medium, or more fatty. All types for all tastes. We also tried their crab meat egg rolls (another house specialty!) and the crab meat/paste noodles soup with tofu and other protein varieties. Everything was fantastic. Service was excellent once you're seated. The young man was quick to bring everything we needed and so pleasant. He had to do everything at the front of the restaurant, and even ran the cash register. There were only a few workers servicing the many needs for the volume of to orders and dining-in customers. He even asked if we liked the foods when I paid. So good customer service. So polite and respectful. Needless to say, we took good care of him at checkout. They work very hard. read more

The foods at this place is about 6 points out of 10. What is bad... They do NOT serve water to dine in customers. I went here on Tuesday (4 days ago). I had a gag reflex on a small piece of food. Yes, I was coughing; I asked them for some water because something stuck in my throat and making me cough. The server said "We do NOT serve water for dining-in. We have bottled water for you to buy $1.50". WOW... I have NEVER seen any restaurant that operates like this. My total bill was over $40 and they can not give me a bottle of water. I ordered an extra dish to take home. I'm NEVER coming back to this CHEAP restaurant. They are a "disgrace." I need to get the words out so no one gets disappointed with their horrible service. My wife and I visited Bún Chả 1008 on Sunday. It is a small local restaurant located in the Walmart shopping center on Beach Blvd. Parking can be difficult because the shopping center gets busy. The restaurant itself is very small, with approximately four tables that seat four people and two smaller tables that seat two. One of my biggest concerns was the restroom arrangement. The restroom is not directly accessible from inside the dining area. Customers have to exit through the back and use a separate entrance, which I did not feel was a good setup, especially for children or customers going outside alone. The restroom also did not have paper towels available when I used it. More concerning, I personally saw a restaurant worker exit the restroom without washing their hands. For a food-service business, this raised a serious hygiene and food-safety concern for me and had a significant impact on my overall impression of the restaurant. My wife and I ordered one Bún Chả Hà Nội. The food was fine overall, and the meat and vegetables were good, but I felt the portion of bún was a little small. Another issue was the drinking water. The restaurant does not appear to offer complimentary drinking water and instead sells bottled water for $1.50. For a dine-in restaurant, I found that unreasonable. In most places, customers purchasing a meal can receive a simple cup of water at no charge. The menu also lists extra fish sauce for $1.00. Since fish sauce is an essential part of Bún Chả, I believe customers should receive an adequate amount with the meal without feeling that they need to pay extra. Overall, the Bún Chả was decent, but the small portion, paid drinking water, restroom arrangement, lack of paper towels, and the hygiene concern I personally observed negatively affected our experience. read more

The bun cha was quite good, and tasty. The egg rolls were too big, but tasted ok. The plate had a good amount of vermicelli and adequate fresh herbs. No restroom available; Is it legal not to have one in a restaurant? The service was good, the ambiance was the same as any Vietnamese restaurant. It was clean inside. Came here for a bite with my kids and wanted to try their bun cha Hanoi. It was very good but I think for the price it's kinda expensive for the portion. We all had water to drink but they only served us 2 water bottle and 4 plastic cups with ice. In all of the cups we had some black stuff like debris from I don't know where and what. Veggie was fresh and they gave plenty of veggie. But, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. They don't served you water in a glass or a decent cup to go. It was a cup kinda small. Service was ok. This is my favorite place of Crab egg roll (rarely find it and taste good), and their bun rieu (crab tomato soup) is very authentic and delicious. The Bun Cha Ha Noi, it is also my favorite. I arrive when they open 11am to avoid long wait because few tables only. One downside is they don't have drink options menu, only water bottle with a cup of ice and coconut juice. Casual bun cha restaurant located in the same plaza as the Stanton Walmart grocery that is across from rodeo 39. I've been looking for a bun cha spot that rivals the Michelin star bun cha restaurant in Hanoi and while this restaurant is the closest that I've tried in the US. I ordered the combo bun cha Hanoi that comes with pork shoulder, pork belly and pork cheek. I'm not a huge fan of the pork patty as I can't tell it's grilled since it doesn't taste smokey. The pork belly however is a stand out. I was disappointed to only see one small slice because it was my favorite part of the meal so I'll make sure to get the pork belly plate next time. A small restaurant right across from rodeo 39. They have a limited but specialized menu here focusing on bun cha and crab rolls. There's only like 4 or 5 tables and they recommend you eat togo, but today we ate in. The crab rolls came out piping hot, but so good. They had amazing texture and flavor. We got the special and it was nice to try all the different meats though we would probably not order the pork belly next time. It wasn't bad, just that other meats came out better. I'm Vietnamese-American, but will seldom go out of my way to dine at Vietnamese restaurants. It's not because I can cook the dishes better myself (lord knows I need to leave any and all ingredients alone), but rather because I feel like taste is subjective. If dishes don't taste like the ones my aunts and parents cooked growing up, I'll probably end up not wanting to come back. For example, my Aunt Helen has the best bun rieu in the history of the dish, I feel. She used to cook it for me growing up and I think about it all the time. For that reason, I've been on the hunt for the best bun rieu in all of Orange County. I think I just might have found it here at Bun Cha 1008. The broth is exquisite, rieu proportions are incredible, tofu is stewed to perfection, and there is the right amount of vermicelli in the bowl. The tomato was bussin' bussin', but could go for another 15 min of stewing. Even then, it was still delicious and I'm just nitpicking. If there's no other dish you try here, let their bun rieu speak for itself. The imperial eggrolls were packed with crab meat and suuuuper crispy. I was impressed by the portion and texture! If you have that wrapped in their lettuce, you could probably have that appetizer serve as a meal on its own. Now for their signature dish: bun cha from the Ha Noi region of Vietnam! My dad really enjoyed this dish because the cha was moist and not dry like other restaurants he's used to. The thit nuong was very yummy and flavorful. Nothing bad to say about this dish other than that I'm going to have to wait until my next visit to try it again! Ooff. This is a conflicting review for me to write. I can completely understand the hype behind the food, but the service from earlier tonight left quite a bit of a negative impression on me. We must have been unlucky and came on a very off evening. When my friend and I first came into the restaurant, there was a party of 3 ahead of us. The restaurant had limited seating overall. We saw though that there was a table for 2 by the window and asked if we could be seated there. The lady who was both the manager and co-manager (she wore both tags on her apron) asked us to wait. We then realized there was a waiting list by the side of the door and put our name down for 2. Well, sadly, it seems they didn't really go off the waiting list that night. 2 people who came in after us pointed to a larger table by the washing station, that fits about 4 people, asked to be seated, and they seated the 2 people right away. That left the party of 3 ahead of us, still waiting outside, and also us. Finally, after waiting for 30 minutes, we were pointed to the INITIAL table for 2 at the window, that was not occupied the whole time... and the one we originally asked to be seated at. Then, the waiter took our order...or so we thought. We noticed several parties who had come in after us, all received their orders before us. When my friend and I flagged the waiter down, he said he would check. One of the staff came back to let us know that they somehow didn't put our order into the system and apologized. The staff member came back with a drink on the house as an apology--the coconut kumquat, and an extra cup of ice, so that my friend and I could share this. I am surprised they couldn't even offer 2 drinks given the mishaps. There are no complimentary water either. If you want water, it is $1.50 for a water bottle, so this is a fyi. Unfortunately, the majority of this experience left a sour taste in my mouth. As for the positive, the food lives up to the hype in my opinion. We ordered the Bún Chả Hanoi- nạc vai, (Basically vermicelli with pork shoulder cut--it's a dish of charred pork slices and pork patties with vegetables of lettuce, perilla leaves, and soaked in the dipping sauce of sweet fish sauce with carrots and daikon slices). The meat was tender, fresh, and the dipping sauce was spot on, with fresh lettuce and herbal leaves. My friend says she would come back to this place, but only for take-out. I personally don't see myself coming back, given that we live in the mecca of food options. May your experience fare better than mine. Omg! I've been dying to try Bun Cha since watching the Anthony B and Obama episode in Vietnam and I heard this is the place to try legit Bun Cha - and it's true! The bun cha is perfectly charred with that bbq taste and so juicy! And the eggroll!! CHEF'S KISS! The service was really fast and nice - but be warned there's only a couple tables so during peak time I can see there being a long wait time. I went with my boyfriend on a Saturday at 5 pm to avoid the dinner rush. And the drink as a dessert was the perfect finishing touch! 10/10 recommend and would come back! read more

Prices are on the high side for such a hole-in-the-wall establishment with minimal amenities. My main complaint is that they refused to serve plain tap water for patrons but sells bottled water only. This is not in compliance with California law. In California, restaurants are legally required to provide free tap water to customers upon request. California law mandates that restaurants serving food must provide potable tap water free of charge to their customers when requested. We proceeded to order the 3 menu items: -crab eggrolls ($15?) -crab eggroll noodles ($17) - bún chả rán cua bể -bún riêu ($17 -bún chả hà nội đặc biệt ($17): pork shoulder, pork belly, pork cheek Personally, I was a super fan of their bún riêu because you could really taste the tomato base soup. It was just mild enough for you to control your own ruốc adventure. They include plenty of variety with their toppings which I appreciated. The bún chả hà nội đặc biệt is probably one of the best versions I've had in Westminster. All the meats had a nice char despite marinating in the broth. And! Might I add, you get three little hamburger patties for each order of đặc biệt. I was literally beside myself. Bun rieu and nem cua be was amazing here!! Usually I would cook bun rieu at home since in OC there's not a super amazing stand out restaurant that makes bun rieu really well. However this small hole in the wall place makes amazing bun rieu. They gave plenty of toppings/protien to the dish. The nem cua be (not pictured) was large and can be shared as appetizers between 2-3 people. It was stuffed with crab and was super fresh. My brother ordered the bun cha and complemented how amazing it was. We ordered food to go but didn't have to wait long. We waited at most 10 mins for food to come out. Trying out this place near my parent's house and was pleased with the food. It was very tasty. When you walk in you're hit with the smell of nuoc mam. The inside is small and only has like 4 tables. I got food poisoning from eating their bun rieu Cau Dong. No restroom for paying customers to use. Any seat down or dining inside table restaurant or bistro has to have available restroom access. Exactly 15 minutes after departure from this business and eating their food I had to rush home and run to the toilet as soon as possible if you know what I mean. On the surface everything looks legitimate but I have never experienced any problems or issues related to food poisoning before this place. Health department of Orange County please investigate this establishment Bun Cha 1008 extensively and throughout. There is possible contamination on some level of food ingredients preparation. I liked the bun cha here. The meat patty is pretty flavorful, and it comes with vermicelli and vegetable on the side. There are plenty of parking, however, the interior is very small, and can only accommodate up to 3 groups of 4 at a time. Saw this place on Instagram, drove by it the next day, so we had to try it. I started with the kumquat coconut water, which was refreshing. I got the pork belly and boyfriend got the combo. Our favorite was the pork belly, but even more so the patties. So juicy and flavorful. Veggie spread to accompany the meat was great too. We also got the crab egg rolls, and they were some of the best we've ever had. Fish sauce was on point and overall a great meal. Unexpectedly found a Hanoi style bun cha place in OC.it's behind the Lucky seafood supermarket. The charcoal grilled meat had a smoky aroma that made the dish so inviting, and the fish sauce was rich and savory with the perfect hint of sweetness. Everything was fresh, from the noodles to the herbs, balancing the flavors beautifully. The portion is very filling and only $13.00 . I would be more comfortable coming here to buy takeaway food. Small place with a decent (not short) wait. We first ordered the Pork Shoulder Bun Cha - $15, the Crab Eggroll Noodles - $18, and the Crab Cake Noodle Soup (Bun Rieu) - $17. It wasn't quite enough for our group of four adults and 4 teens, and we end up adding a Combo Bun Cha - $17, and Crab Eggroll appetizer - $14. Everything was delicious. The Bun Rieu had this cube of pig blood whose texture I really liked and would compare it to firm silken tofu. The crab eggrolls had a good crunchiness to them. And the dipping sauce (nuoc cham) takes on a nice smokiness of the grilled meats. Every dish could easily be shared by two people, so I thought the prices were pretty good. Service was excellent. 3.5, still haven't found the best bun rieu at a restaurant. I did not order their bun cha.. but not like other places you don't smell the char grill from outside or inside. There are NO BATHROOMS inside, only 4-5 tables inside. They charge for water. Crushed chili on the table is not spicy for the chili lovers. Bun rieu .. is not as pictured. Lots of noodles and three rieu balls but the tofu was smaller and there was three maybe thin slices of cha or tofu skin? but it was soaked in oil & the top layer of the bowl was full of oil.
