I love their pandan sticky rice. I wish they used more pandan leaves so the flavor would be more fragrant and stronger. The chicken skin is super crispy. Not sure how many people are rushing to pay $40 for a whole chicken, but it serves 3 to 4 people. Fast and friendly service. The storefront is hidden in a scary parking lot. This is definitely the place to go if you like chicken with a bit of smokey flavor. I ordered the following for takeout: Clay Jar Grilled Chicken, half size ($19.99), Pandan Sticky Rice ($4.99), Chicken Rice ($4.99), and Crispy Rice ($4.50). The chicken come with dipping sauces and seasoning as well as Vietnamese Coriander leaves. I personally didn't think the chicken needed any of it as it was so flavorful by itself, but it was nice to have for the rice. The three different rice flavors was unique in their own way and I liked all three. The Crispy Rice was on the smaller side, but it was my favorite one of the three. Á Nù Quán is a small family-owned restaurant located on Garden Grove Blvd and Newland. It is in a small shopping center and is easy to miss, so drive slowly. I have wanted to try this place for a little while. I believe it has been open for approximately three years. They are known for their traditional Vietnamese Clay Jar Grilled Chicken. I ordered a 1/2 chicken $20, which was a huge portion and it came with dry egg noodles. The chicken was so fresh, tender, and grilled to perfection. The seasoning was perfect! I hope this review reaches the owners/managers. With all due respect, your restaurant smells like sewage and/or rotten meat. We walked in and were hit with the sour and pungent aroma. We felt bad since we were the first customers of the day and didn't want to just walk out. But it was really bad. After a few minutes it faded since our sense of smell got used to it but it was also really bad in the restroom. I really hope it gets fixed or the odor is found. I stopped by here for dinner with a party of 7 as the bday boy really wanted delicious food that was unique & rare to find. A Nu Quan filled that criteria that night. We also brought cake and the servers were helpful and stored it for us. We ordered 2 whole roasted chicken and 1 pandan rice, 1 crispy chicken rice, and 1 classic chicken rice. Let me tell you that we were all stuffed! But did great damage (left only 1/2 a plate of rice and 3 pcs of chicken). This clay pot chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and they seasoned it nicely throughout. The greens and various sauces (a sweet fish sauce soy, sweet chili, and lime white pepper salt) elevated the flavors. And loved their pickled lotus root and pickled garlic as well. Forgot to mention someone also ordered a pho ga and actually it was super good. Broth was some of the best, but then once you eat the roasted chicken you don't care for it anymore haha but if you need soup then it's a good option! After dinner, we sand happy birthday and they even queued up a birthday song with the bday boy's name too. That was sweet. Would definitely come back! But pro tip is to definitely order whole chicken as it'll always be fresh ;) I'm sure they have to save some pieces of chicken for their other dishes so that's why I think whole chicken is the way to go. This place has been on my radar to try and glad we finally came. It's located in a small plaza with minimal parking spaces. There inside is not very big either. We came at 3 pm so definitely didn't have to worry about the crowd. The servers were friendly and attentive. They were helpful in helping us decide which to order and were good at informing us of which dish is being placed in front of us. The clay pot chicken was so good. It was really moist and the skin was crispy. The dipping sauce complemented the chicken and made it even more flavorful. The dry noodles was tasty and was a good side to have with the chicken. However, the chicken rice was not. The rice was dry and hard to the point where it was just not edible. We were really disappointed. We really wanted to love the rice. We were seated immediately for a party of 6. They did not have time to wipe down the table prior, so it was sticky. After notifying them, then they wiped it for us. We ordered the bot chien, dry noodle with chicken thigh, whole clay pot chicken with burnt rice and chicken rice, and pho ga. Our server introduced the sauces (for bot chien, dry noodle, and clay jar chicken) before our mains came. I think all the sauces can work with every dish, I forgot which one was for which. I'm not a big fan of rice cakes, but bot chien dish is so good. The rice cakes were crispy, but chewy and complemented the soft eggs. The dry noodles were nicely seasoned. The clay jar chicken comes with veggies too. It has a nice smoky aromatic, tender, and not dry texture. Everything was enjoyable and would definitely recommend for others to dine here. I think next time, I want to try the sticky rice instead of burnt rice. Service was quick for pho ga, bot chien, and dry noodles, but the whole chicken required more prep time. I've been meaning to try this spot for a while after seeing it all over social media, and I finally got the chance this Father's day. They're best known for their clay jar chicken and it delivered. It was huge, smoky, juicy, and paired perfectly with the sauces provided. We also tried a few other dishes: the pho ga, com ga hai nam, and my ga kho. The pho ga had a flavorful broth, the my ga kho noodles were solid, but the hai nam rice was underwhelming, you can skip it honestly Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the wait time really tested my patience. I'm very patient, but we waited over an hour for our food. The tables around us were in the same boat. One group mentioned they had long finished their drinks before anything arrived. If this place wants to retain its growing customer base, I'd strongly recommend hiring more help in the front and back of house. The food is great, but the service time could really use some improvement. I bookmarked this restaurant after reading Charles N's review and seeing pictures of the clay jar chicken. I had the day off work Friday and decided to try it for lunch. Interior was very nice with modern aesthetics, A/C on, upbeat music, and both table and booth seating. I was given a booth and a menu. Since I was by myself I ordered the dry noodles with clay jar chicken thigh. It came with soup and a leafy green vegetable. I also ordered an iced tea. My meal looked and smelled heavenly. The soup was an almost clear chicken broth yet was infused with so much flavor. Packed a garlicky punch too. The meal came with a dipping sauce plus more condiments were provided on the table. Honestly the chicken had so much flavor I used it very sparingly. The skin and meat had so much flavor. Unfortunately there was hardly any meat. Thank goodness it came with a leg because the thigh was pretty much all bone with a tiny smidge of meat. I'm wondering if you order the leg version of this dish if you get two legs? Would be a much better deal. The meat I did get I tried getting out of every nook and cranny. It was chopped oddly with a cleaver so I had to be very careful with small bone fragments. The noodles were cooked perfectly with a great texture and garlicky flavor. Large portion so this helped fill me up. The leafy green I haven't seen before. Tasted like bokchoy yet looked similar to spinach. After some google searching I think it's "water spinach". Whatever it was I really enjoyed it and dipped it in the accompanying sauce. Fried chicken skin was also sprinkled all over the dish. On the table was a garnish of thin sliced pickled garlic which paired great with everything. By the end you will have garlic breath. Only negative is I never saw my server again. My iced tea was brought to my table half empty and I never get another refill.
