After seeing raving reviews on both Yelp and TikTok, I made the trek up to Seattle to try Phe. I went on Friday afternoon, and it was fairly busy but there was still plenty of seating in their open/airy space. Once I got up to the counter, I saw a sign that said "due to very limited matcha availability, the only drinks available are on our menu". So I was slightly disappointed with that but saw they had Hojicha and any disappointment dissipated. I ordered the Hojicha with Banana Pudding and the drink was phenomenal. I've always enjoyed Hojicha and the banana pudding on top added the extra sweetness and flavor component. Overall, very pleased with the drink and service. Prices are on the higher side ($10 drink) especially for the size (the only sell/serve one size which is 16oz), with all the ice - the drink itself is minimal. I understand product and quality of the product - if it was 20oz, the price would be more appropriate. Also, I wish they served bigger sizes 20 and 24oz, it was hard not finishing the drink in minutes. Definitely recommend and would go back. When they first opened, I had the Banana Pudding Matcha and while it tasted good the drink felt more like a dessert and at $11, you're mostly paying for pudding over matcha. I tried the Matcha Einspänner this time around and unfortunately, it was a letdown. The cream itself was flavorless and didn't add anything to the drink other than making it creamier. The matcha itself was smooth however it was more bitter than what I remembered? It almost seemed as if maybe the water temperature was too high when they made it. What I did enjoy was the Phe Me which is their Vietnamese coffee drink with sesame cream. Strong, flavorful, and well-balanced. I'd definitely come back for this and would be open to trying more of their coffee drinks. Overall, prices are steep for the size, and while the quality is decent, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I got there at around 10am on a weekday and there was no line. We waited around 5 minutes for our drinks. I got the matcha kloud and was very good. The sweetness is perfect and I'm still able to taste the matcha. Such a refreshing drink. Was it worth $9? (Before tip) Comparing it with other matcha shops in Seattle that are priced similarly, I would say yes. Otherwise, go for the yummy drinks and cute cafe and be prepared to spend ~$10 for a drink. I finally got to try PHE, the new Vietnamese coffee + matcha spot, and it did not disappoint! We tried this with black sesame cream and honeycomb toffee. Both were excellent, but I'd definitely come back for the honeycomb toffee--it tasted really unique. The drinks lean on the sweeter side since you can't adjust the sugar level, but the coffee helps balance it out. PHE ME (Black Sesame) - 4.5/5 The black sesame had a nice nutty flavor (made with condensed milk), noticeable but not overpowering. PHE KEO (Honeycomb Toffee) - 5/5 This one blew me away. It's made with caramel milk, so it wasn't as sweet as the black sesame. The honeycomb toffee gradually melts into the drink, adding layers of flavor. I even tried a bite of the honeycomb biscuit on its own--so good, I'd totally buy a bag if they sold them. We went on a weekend around 3pm. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Parking was easy to find on the street, and the café had plenty of seating even though it was busy. Although the drinks are a bit pricy for the size (~$8 for large), drinks at similar cafes are around the same. Service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend! Beautiful location and love that they have both coffee and matcha drinks here, but I just can't get over how long this line is. The drinks themselves are decent if not a little bit expensive for what you can get in the area but I don't know how often I'll be here because it's just so chaotic. The space itself is beautiful and there's plenty of seating, but we could barely hear ourselves think because there were so many people and it felt pretty awkward. There's some low tables with mini chairs by the open garage door (great for summer months) and plenty of seating on the inside. Phe has a pretty extensive menu with the most popular items being matcha in addition to specialty coffee items like the honeycomb toffee coffee. My friends and I all ordered the banana pudding matcha with oat milk. Turns out, after the fact, we learned that the only drinks they can make completely dairy free are the strawberry matcha and regular matcha. We got our order number and proceed to wait about 20 mins for our drinks. All of the order numbers are scrambled and seemingly without order so don't worry too much about where your number position is at. I really enjoyed the banana flavor and there's a giant scoop of banana pudding over top with whip cream and toffee bits. Matcha is also strong, though I recommend you mix it very well to get everything incorporated once you're ready. Overall, it took us 40 mins in total from getting in line to receiving our order, on a Saturday afternoon. The matcha came out to be around $12 so imo, that's kind of pricey. I came here at 9:30am on Saturday and there was already a line of people waiting. The line wasn't too bad; I think 15min wait max. The interior is super spacious with modern aesthetics. The staff is friendly and efficient. If you dine in then they will bring out your food to the table. I ordered the Matcha banana pudding latte. The banana pudding was really great and there were pieces of banana in it which I appreciated. The matcha went really well with the richness of the banana pudding. One thing to note is that this drink is on the more expensive side ($11) so I think this is more of a once in a while type of drink. My boyfriend got the Phe Keo which has the honeycomb toffee on top. This was also pretty good but I felt that the coffee could've been a bit stronger. We got a pork bahn mi to share and this was a bit of a let down. I think there might have been too much mayo on the bahn mi we got because you really couldn't taste anything else outside of the mayo. To their credit, the bread had a nice texture and the portion was decent for the price. Overall, I think that this place is a good place for drinks but less so for food. The ambiance here is unreal. It definitely feels like a very hip and trendy LA vibe and I don't really know where everyone came from but most of the patrons here are well dressed and fit! I love how the baristas make the drinks with so much love at the bar where all can see. This is an awesome place for a nice pick me up and people / dog watching. I've tried their vietnamese coffee offering the first time "Phe Sua" and I wasn't impressed. It just seemed overpriced to me for regular vietnamese coffee you can get an most vietnamese restaurants that tastes the same for much less. This was during the time when they were out of matcha for a period of time so I was determined to see what's so hyped up about the matcha teas and waited until it's available again and come back. I'm glad I came back! The matcha offerings... are on a whole different level in terms of taste! These drinks pack a punch and I was completely energized for a few hours after drinking this. My body and mind seems to appreciate and digest the matcha caffeine here much better than a regular cup of coffee. Despite it's potentness, the matcha drinks are floral, beautifully made with just a slight subtle hint of matcha bitterness. My favorite so far is the matcha einspanner. you guys!! phe has matcha again! And it's TOTALLY worth the hype. I lined up on their first day with matcha, the line moved wicked fast and we waited probably a total of 20 minutes. Unfortunatley, they ran out of the blueberry and banana creme matchas before we got to the front, but the einspanner and the mango matchas were divine. The coconut sweet matcha cream drink was also just as good as last time we ordered it. I also tried the sesame latte this time and it was a true 10/10. I know everyone's hyped for phe's matcha but i will def be back to try the other Vietnamese coffee-based drinks. Despite not being a matcha cafe, they have the best matcha drinks in Seattle, and apparently many people agree since there's always a long line. My favorite drinks here are actually the regular matcha latte and the matcha einspanner because I like the quality of the matcha. The matcha is earthy, vegetal, and floral, but also has a hint of sweetness and grassiness. The matcha latte lets the matcha shine, and the einspanner adds a little more sweetness and creaminess which I enjoyed. The other matcha drinks I've tried were pretty good as well but not as good as the regular latte. The mango matcha latte was a bit too sweet but the mango puree was really nice. The banana pudding matcha latte was more like a dessert and less of a drink. It was hard to mix the banana pudding into the matcha so I ended up just eating the pudding and drinking the matcha. First of all, this place has a really nice modern vibe, and the design is super clean! The staff are friendly and patient, which makes the experience even better. The seating is decent, but it can get pretty crowded since they're constantly busy. I really liked the Hojicha Banana Pudding. I think the Hojicha could be a bit stronger, but it's still good, and the banana pudding adds a nice touch that goes well with it. My favorite drink here is the Sesame Coffee. I love the bold, strong flavor of the Vietnamese coffee paired with the mellow sesame cold foam. It's not too sweet, which is a big plus. The Honeycomb Caramel is a bit on the sweeter side for me--it's rich, creamy, and strong, definitely more of a dessert coffee. Came to try the coffee with corn cream. Loved the openess of the space with the "garage" door and low tables and chairs like in Vietnam. Didn't know they serve food, we gave it a shot and wasn't disappointed. The fancified xôi mặn was actually good. I was skeptical because it came out not as expected. It was beautifully plated like a fine dining restaurant. Xôi mặn is a savory sticky rice dish with a combination of shredded pork, Vietnamese "ham" chả lụa, Chinese sausage (usually), dried shrimp depending on who makes it. The one here has pâté and this is my first time having it with pâté. It wasn't bad, we enjoyed it. I like that this coffee shop has food because I need food before I can drink coffee since Vietnamese coffee is very strong. The coffee here isn't as strong as the other places around town which is good for me. We were able to find street parking easily but it was a Monday morning so that doesn't say much. read more

Haven't been able to try their matcha yet since they've had a shortage, but I wanted to dry their coffee drinks anyways. When we came there wasn't a line, but it immediately grew by the time we left. The popular banana pudding drink is also excellent, but I prefer to taste the high quality ceremonial matcha they use. The drinks are perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and flavorful. I ordered a banana pudding matcha latte. On the menu it was described as having banana pudding and toffee bits. It had a symbol next to it that says it "may contain nuts". When I got the drink there was bits on top that looked like almonds so I hesitated and went to ask. They said that it did have almonds. I told them it wasnt on the menu, and "may contain nuts" and "containing nuts" are two completely different things to people with a nut allergy. They disregarded my point and said I have to buy a new drink even though I hadn't touched mine. Ive never had such an unaccommodating experience somewhere in regards to allergies. Matcha perfect. The cream tasted a little old, left a little lining like it was made a couple days ago. The seating area is very comfortable. The chairs are for little tiny toddlers, but it was a very comfortable, humble toddlers vibe. When you walk in, there's a very strong smell of onions or fried food early in the morning which is not the best but then the smell goes away when you get used to it. We ordered our matcha. The matcha came out literally within 10 minutes. The initial taste was delicious, and I love the size of it. It does not fit in cupholders though. But then you leave, you finish your matcha, and you still have that smell on you that's not leaving, and it smells like onions and fried food and it's just gross. The atmosphere of the space itself is quite overwhelming just due to how busy it is. The waiting area is also a bit crowded too so that does not give you a lot of breathing room in the shop if you are waiting for your drink. The drink itself was just okay. It was pretty creamy but a bit too bitter, even with the cream top. I know another popular place in the Seattle area is Taz matcha which I do prefer over phe. I don't know if I will be back anytime soon because of the price point but I think it is worth a try if you are able to catch it on a slow day. read more

Was visiting Seattle on vacation when I noticed a huge line in front of this coffee shop. It turned out it was a Vietnamese coffee spot. I'm a sucker for Viet coffee, so I immediately hopped in line. I ordered the classic Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk and also tried the pineapple iced tea. Hands down, the best Viet coffee I've ever had. It's super concentrated, so be ready for a caffeine punch. It's rich, smooth, and full of flavor. The shop itself is sleek, modern, and spotless with plenty of seats if you ever need to hangout with friends or get work done.
