I'm not a matcha fanatic but wanted to try a drink here and see the hype. the line wasn't super long since we went near closing time on a Sunday. I got the earl grey matcha. It's hard to say since I am not an avid matcha drinker. I enjoyed the drink without the matcha? or maybe I expected a bit more of a matcha taste and not have the earl grey overpower the taste. maybe I'm not into matcha. it was worth the try. I didn't try any of their food.snacks but they looked good. If I were to come back, I may be basic and stick to a coffee.
At first I was a little irritated by people's lack of manners, and the wait but the drinks were definitely worth it. It's probably the best matcha I've ever had and I absolutely love Vietnamese coffee. I think they could improve their customer service, I mean I know it's busy but not even a hello? Also, it's packed in there so take your drink to go if you can.
I came in expecting to be all about the coffee, but the Banana Pudding Matcha completely surprised me! I'm usually not a matcha fan, but this drink won me over. It was creamy, lightly sweet, and topped with the most satisfying crunchy goodness that added the perfect texture. Then came the Phê Mê--coffee with condensed milk and black sesame cream. This was the drink for me. Rich, smooth, nutty, and unlike anything I've had before. It's one of those drinks that makes you slow down because every sip is worth savoring. The coffee isn't just delicious--it's craftsmanship in a cup. The space is inviting and makes you want to linger longer with your friends sipping on these delicious beverages.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning and we waited an hour for these drinks. We paid about $18 for a Matcha Einspanner and Hojicha Einspanner. The drinks are wonderful :) Super creamy and not too sweet. The lines are super long. The interior is airy and earthy and there is plenty of seating.
The matcha drinks here are soooo good. I did think they were expensive for the size but I understand because the quality of the drinks are crazy. The banana pudding matcha is straight up dessert- their banana pudding cream is heavenly, and I will be thinking about it for a while. I got the hojicha drink as well and it was also super yummy but I think the banana one takes the top spot here. The line is usually long but drinks come out fairly quickly! Tonsss of people here so finding a table or seat might be hard.
Arrived mid-afternoon on a weekday and there was a line out the door. Seems typical for a trendy place in Seattle. We waited ~15 mins before ordering. We ordered the matcha banana pudding and hojicha ginger tofu pudding lattes. Service took ~10 mins. The matcha banana pudding was yummy. The matcha was of good quality and the banana pudding top was a smooth, cream top that tasted just like banana pudding, with a fun crunch in the topping. The hojicha ginger tofu was a bit more adventurous in flavor. The ginger and tofu messed with my brain and made it feel like I was drinking a savory asian sauce/soup, but the drink was still sweet. I kept sipping, but the strange savory/sweet limbo never really balanced correctly to truly enjoy the drink. On the plus side, the silken tofu was fun to sip through the straw and added some protein. There is seating indoors, but the tables can fill up quickly. Some people were wfh, but most were chatting. There is 1 hr complimentary WiFi. Typical Seattle street parking. Overall, the latte flavors were fun to try and it was an aesthetic cafe. But, the prices for the lattes make them more of a novel, hyped up purchase.
Food & Drinks: Matcha Einspanner (7/10) - not the best quality matcha i've ever had but not the worst either. it was decent. i think mine was slightly on the grainier side for the matcha and more milky. the matcha was a bit overpowered or washed out but you could still taste it. the taste overall was pretty decent Xoi Man (7/10) - a bit on the saltier side, portion is a bit small, had a combination of flavors. i thought it was decent Egg Rolls (9/10) - so crispy and flavorful! these were made really well and tasted good with the fish sauce Service: It's pretty busy so there's going to be a bit of a wait, especially if you ordered food. They'll hand you a number if you decide to dine in and you place it at the table you're at and they'll bring it out to you! On the other hand, for drinks you would pick up at the front. Ambiance: It's very cute and small with limited seating. It's pretty popular and busy so it can be hard to find a table. A lot of people come and do work/study here as well so seats can be taken for a while during busy hours.
Finally made it to Phe after seeing all the debate about which café has the best matcha in Seattle. For me, this one takes the top spot--easily the best matcha I've had in Seattle so far. What I really loved is that the matcha isn't overwhelmed by milk. The tea itself is the star, giving it a rich, balanced flavor that really shines through. The atmosphere is bright and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I also loved the cute décor and drinkware--it adds to the overall experience. During my visits, I tried the banana pudding matcha, the sesame foam Vietnamese coffee, and the hojicha. Everything was excellent, and I'd happily order any of them again. They also offer a small selection of bites to pair with your drink. I didn't try any myself, but my friend enjoyed what they ordered. Seating is limited, especially on weekends, but it's also the perfect place to grab a drink to go. I'd definitely come back and highly recommend it to any matcha lover.
When we were in Seattle recently, I researched great coffee spots and Phe was mentioned more than once. Once I saw that they specialized in Vietnamese coffee and they actually offered Ca Phe Muoi (salty coffee with cream), my favorite Vietnamese coffee drink, I bookmarked it for a visit. There was a line when we arrived, but there was seating available while we waited. I already knew that Ca Phe Muoi was what I wanted, so I didn't need to consult the menu, but for the reader, they offer other Vietnamese coffee drinks, matcha drinks, and seasonal specials. Food is on the menu including banh mi, sliders, croissants, and avocado toast. My drink was the perfect blend of salty and sweet. I loved the ambiance and decor with natural wood and plants for a calming vibe. I can see why Phe has such great reviews and just wish we had something like it in Vegas.
Stopped by Phe while visiting Seattle and really enjoyed it! The matcha was excellent, smooth, flavorful, and worth the stop. The ordering process was a little confusing at first. Someone hands you a menu when you get in line and tells you where to order, which felt a bit unusual, but it moved along fine once we figured it out. I was hoping to try the banana pudding matcha, but they were sold out by the time we got there later in the day. Definitely get there earlier if that's what you're after. Even without it, I'd come back for the quality of the matcha alone.
Phe had some of the best caffeine drinks I had while visiting Seattle for a long weekend. Definitely executes on the Vietnamese flavors both in its coffees as well as its teas. Parking is a PITA since it's right off Pine St but can find some street parking nearby. Expect to wait 5 - 10 minutes in line and another 10 minutes+ for the drink depending on how busy it is. Not surprised by the wait given the quality of the food. Came on two separate times; relatively empty inside in the morning but in the afternoon all seats were taken so better for takeout. Seemed like a lots of students perched up to study. Food was also really solid / more lunch focused since most meals were pretty heavy. Could definitely see this being a goto spot as a local to get my caffeine fix.
Located in Capitol Hill with street parking nearby as well as paid lots. Upon pulling up to the corner to where this was, there was a line already starting to round the corner. Upon entering, it appeared there's a good amount of indoor seating and the way their flow for ordering and receiving the drinks was great. The wait wasn't too long and the service was friendly. They were playing a lot of up beat music. Hoping to try coming out again when it's less busy. I ordered the Hojicha Latte Einspanner and I can see why people were lining up for this spot. The Hojicha has that nice roasty taste to it and was complimented by the creamy top. Safe to say, the drink didn't last long at all. Only wish is that there were bigger drink size options.
WOW Inside is huge, lots of room for seating and a line and does get very busy! Well decorated, felt very much like a shop that would be in Vietnam. Service was good; kind, patient and quick. Drinks are good! The Phe Keo is VERY sweet but I love sweet drinks. Matcha Einspanner was just okay, the cream top had some weird mucus-y texture clumps. I'd come back just for the coffee tho.
NO WORDS! the most flavorful, floral, lychee tea by far. simplistic presentation. it's different than any other lychee tea i've had, no prepackaged syrups here!! everything is fresh and carefully brewed 10000/10 the yuzu chrysanthemum tea was average imo, it's decent was nothing special salted coffee was SUPER BOLD, my vietnamese parents approved. the cream was sweet, light, rich, lighty salted. as of july 2025, there's a matcha shortage so no lattes but there coconut with matcha cloud foam is available SERVICE: kind, welcoming staff are patient with u and open to recs despite busy hours (we went 12pm on sunday pride weekend). make drink, no rush, in front of u behind counter. The ambience, interior design, open area concept-- I am all for it! Located in the central area of capitol hill, parking can be challenging. The big roll down window is open and you will see people waiting outside when you walk by. I wanted to try matcha drink but they are still out. Someone said they will maybe restock in July, in a few weeks? But who knows with this matcha shortage... i ended up ordering c6. Phe me, black sesame drink. For 18 oz, it was about $9 after tax. Was it worth it? Yesssss. Sesame was thick and nutty and blended well with viet coffee. It was very refreshing with ice and I would definitely get it again! (I am a little obsessed with matcha/black sesame ) i do wanna come back here to try their regular viet coffee and matcha drinks! read more
It's pretty good. I wouldn't say it lives up to the hype, because it's honestly like any other Vietnamese coffee shop in Seattle, but the drinks are still pretty solid. I thought the teas were better than the coffee, and I hear their matcha is good, but they were sold out of it when we came. The store is actually quite large and has a lot of seating inside to study and do work. They'll even open the outside wall when the weather is nice to let in some fresh air. Despite having long lines, service is quick. The drinks are a little pricey for the size though, about $8 without tip for 16oz. Overall not bad. I'd get it again if I was in the area, but I think other Seattle Vietnamese coffee shops are better. read more

i got the strawberry matcha and the strawberry was way too overpowering and was on the sour side. i was not able to taste much of the matcha flavor, i don't think it's worth the price at all. same issue with the earl gray matcha, earl gray was overpowering as well. the color looked promising and the aesthetics are rlly good but the matcha is disappointing read more

There was about a 10 person line in when we got there but it went by really fast and all three of our drinks came out in less than 10 minutes as well. Baristas gave us little tips on the best way to enjoy each drink. (~$7-$10/ drink) Masubis have avocado and bacon included in them AND were piping hot even though they were sitting out on the counter. There's a lot of seating indoors with a very aesthetic vibe: concrete walls and a garage door they open when it's nice out. Our favorite drink was the honey comb. The topping + the cream tastes like a toasted marshmallow but isn't super sticky so it doesn't get stuck in your teeth. The other two drinks were also good. read more

Phe lives up to the hype that it has generated. With a line at the door before opening, you know this place must be good! With friendly staff and lots of seating area in this modern industrial cafe, you are sure to enjoy your time here. There is currently a matcha shortage here at Phe, but it was nice that they had an updated printed version of their menu containing items that they currently have in stock. The Banana Pudding Hojicha Latte was super tasty. The hojicha had a bold and enjoyable flavor that was perfectly paired with the sweet banana pudding and toffee bits. All the flavors blended well with each other to create a perfect drink. The Phe Keo was very tasty and creamy. The coffee taste was not super strong, but very prominent. Paired well with a subtly sweet foam and a toasty honeycomb, this is a fun drink to get if you want to try something new. Overall, Phe lives up to the TikTok hype. With unique Asian and Viet flavors, this is a cafe to go to if you're looking for good drinks and a chill vibe. read more
I went here on a Friday morning and it was quite busy, and I did not check reviews about long waits before going. Regardless the line and getting the drink took about 15 minutes, shorter if the ordering system were more structured. I got the Phe Keo which had honeycomb on top for a varied experience. It was visually aesthetic. They did warn me it was on the sweeter side so I duly noted and it was indeed quite sweet. Fortunately this drink I shared so it was doable, as I wouldn't have finished it otherwise. $8 before tax is very steep for the drink. Even though Vietnamese coffee is strong and thus warrant lots of ice, I feel like there just wasn't enough drink even taking that into account. I've been to most of the other Vietnamese coffee shops in Seattle and those honestly were better executed for a lower price. It was a bit annoying when the 2 employees assigned to make drinks both spent a good 5 minutes talking to a customer when there was a huge backlog of drinks. I get it if it's a short convo or if 1 employee still slowly takes care of the orders but that wasn't the case. Lots of people waiting and placing orders. Additionally, 3 orders after me were made and called and I had to come to the counter to see they finally finished off my drink, made a bit haphazardly cause they added too much foam and they had to awkwardly remove foam. It's a very popular drink so I'd have expected them to nail it, along with how much they are charging to begin with. A lot of the drinks are unavailable like almost the entire matcha series which from reviews have been quite a long while. Maybe I make a visit back to try the banana pudding variation and hopefully that would yield a better rating, although shelling out $11 before tax is going to be reserved for a splurge. I guess this place specializes as a caffeinated dessert place and less a coffee shop at this point. Honestly overrated and disappointing experience. read more
My favorite matcha spot in Seattle! I've come here multiple times and my favorites are definitely the banana pudding matcha latte and matcha einspanner. I think the matcha they use is more floral which is right up my alley. There's also ample seating, perfect for a cafe workday or catching up with friends. Next time I will need to try their food! read more

I love Phe! The service here is always phenomenal and despite always having a very long line and a full house, they make drinks very fast. Drinks include phin coffee, matcha, and hojicha varieties with rotating foam flavors. They also have a decent food menu. read more
the matcha at phê did not disappoint! we went on a thursday afternoon and had no wait to order! the ambiance inside the cafe was quite nice with good music, a bunch of people either studying or chatting, and beautiful interior! the matcha einspanner with oat milk was delicious - you can actually taste the matcha and the latte itself wasn't too sweet. the cream on top was also not overly sweet and was a really nice addition to the matcha. the earl grey matcha was also super yummy, very earl grey forward. the only thing i have to critique is that it's a bit expensive for the amount of matcha, but it's worthwhile for the quality! read more
Visited Phe twice within two weeks and already looking forward to the next visit. Beverages: I came mainly for their matcha drinks but was a little disappointed that they were still out of most matcha options both times, except for the Koko Matcha Kloud. So far, I've tried Phe Xiu, Phe Miko, Koko Matcha Kloud, and the banana pudding hojicha latte. C5 and M3 are my top favorites. Both were refreshing and not overly sweet. Wait time: Expect a long wait, especially on weekends. Even during my weekday visit, there was about a five-minute wait for drinks. Parking: Located in Capitol Hill with only street parking available. Really hope they restock their matcha options soon so I can try the full menu. read more
I went to Phe on a Thursday morning. So there was no line. The location is quite easy to find. I ordered 2 drinks. Service was fast and the staff was friendly. The place has cement floor. It gives a garage vibe. Near the entrance it has a bunch of little stools and tiny tables that resembling local eatery in Vietnam. It also has regular table and chairs. All in all, nice and comfy place to have coffee. They ran out of matcha earlier in the week. I read about it online. So the 2 drinks I ordered were just coffee and not matcha. So here is what I think of their drinks. It is pricey. My coffee only comes in the larger size. And the other one with banana cream was the same size. They are small. And my coffee comes with jelly that stuck in the bottom with at least half of the cup of rice. I had to spoon the ice cubes out to get to the jelly, needless to say there wasn't much coffee. Will I go back again? Probably not. Seattle is filled with plenty of coffee places. Time to explore other places. read more
I'm a huge consumer of strawberry matcha latte, and this one is one of my top in Seattle. Weekends are a bit tough as lines are long, so aim for a week day trip and you won't be disappointed. The specialty Vietnamese coffees were ok, the corn didn't have much corn flavor, and the honeycomb was way too sweet. Overall, still a good Vietnamese coffee shop that has offerings for the entire crew. read more

I went this time after the hype went down a lot more. I finally able to get matcha this time. The price is kinda on the pricey side. But it tasted so amazing! I love that matcha green color! And the banana cream on top just made the whole drink so much better!!! I highly recommended the banana cream matcha!!! read more

I went with my friend and the line was long but it moved fast! The vibes were super cute and clean. The matcha latte was incredible - I got it unsweetened with oat milk but they have a syrup that you can add to your liking and that was perfect! The matcha tasted fresh and I'd definitely return. read more
Ugh, I love Phe so much! Definitely one of my top 3 matcha spots in Seattle. I haven't been here since their soft opening, but I love their banana pudding matcha. I haven't noticed they use less matcha powder than they do before, but still delicious. Took us around 10 mins to get our drinks, but considering the line was out the door, I expected a wait as they're acclimating a lot of drink orders. My boyfriend ordered the crème brûlée coffee, and his was delicious as well. This place is definitely one of the spots I recommend to people who visit Seattle. read more

Phê is that girl of coffee shops. You know the one, effortlessly cool, stylish without trying too hard, and unexpectedly thoughtful once you get to know her. It's a chic space and first, I assumed it was going to be one of those $8 for the aesthetic kind of places. But honestly, they put care into their drinks here. I ordered the Phê Kẹo ($8): phin-brewed coffee with creamy caramel, milk, cold foam, and their house-made honeycomb toffee. Rich, layered, and sweet but balanced. The barista even gave me a few tips on how to sip it to get the full experience -- loved that small but thoughtful touch. Visited Seattle and heard this spot was one of the best for matcha. From the jump it was packed, but the line ran smoothly. We ordered the matcha einspanner and banana pudding matcha. I've had really good matcha in the past so my expectations are always high. Their matcha is definitely up there in terms of quality and flavor. I'd prefer a bigger size for the price they charge but that's just being picky. I'd say it's worth waiting in those long lines. You won't be disappointed with their quality matcha. read more

Now that the lines aren't insanely long anymore, I finally got to try Phe's banana pudding matcha. It was good, but a bit pricey at $11. I'd personally recommend the floral matcha latte or the vegetal matcha latte instead. I also tried the Phe sliders and they were really good--definitely something I'd come back for. The space itself is great, especially if you're looking to get some work done, and it's even better in the summer when they open it up. Since it's in Capitol Hill, parking can be rough, so I'd recommend taking the bus or the Link. read more

I've been hearing so much about this new cafe on TikTok and I can fully say it was worth the hype. We got the banana pudding matcha and it was an obvious hit but the standout drink was the mango matcha. I would've never thought that mango puree would go so well with matcha but it WORKS. This is literally one of the best matchas I've ever had. I had a matcha latte w oat milk and their hoa (floral) matcha powder. It was perfectly sweet and floral and creamy. They also whisked the matcha so perfectly -- the microfoam is insane. It comes w a cute candy flower on top too. I wish they sold their matcha powder but they have their own farm in Japan that grows matcha just for the store. Omg I was so tempted to get multiple drinks but I had to resist lol. It is pretty pricey w my drink being $9.12 for a small but I would a million percent come back. They also sell small bites and Viet fusion food and I'm curious to try it next time I'm in Seattle. And they're known for their banana pudding matcha latte btw. The interior is so cute too, I wish I had my laptop w me to work in there as there is a lot of seating. Because they whisk each drink by hand, it takes a while to get your drink but it is 100% worth it! read more

i haven't tried the hojicha, viet coffee, or the food, so i'll probably come back to this because the selection is much wider than matcha. otherwise... i finally tried it. that special, particular matcha from that special, particular source. that matcha that they ran out of for weeks and weeks. i went on a rainy monday, so thankfully i didn't have to deal with the multiple-block-spanning line that it normally has on the weekends. i am sad to report that it was overhyped. i don't wanna hate too harshly, i mean i didn't hate my einspanner. i wanted to like it more. but i was left feeling like "this is what all those people waited hours in the hot summer sun for?" it was kinda disappointing. not bad, but not show-stopping to me. at the very least, the cashiers and baristas were nice and it's cute inside. it's also a lot larger than i thought it would be inside. as i said, they offer more than just matcha, so i may re-rate this later. but as for now... she's a no. read more

I've been to phe twice, once during the grand opening and once this past weekend. I think it's expensive for what you get. Most of the cup is full of ice, and even then sometimes the cup isn't full to the top... The drinks are decent, but I prefer taz or aroom. The interior is aesthetic and the wait times depend on the day you come. read more

I personally prefer my matcha on the sweeter side, so the lack of customization when ordering is a bit of a bummer! However, they do have a sweetener on the bar. I'd recommend Earl Grey, banana, and yuzu! Also, the coffee drink C5 was phenomenal!!!!!! I've tried a variety of food items, and they are served fresh and so tasty! Egg rolls and string fries are a go-to!! Customer service is also excellent! I was here during the soft opening, and despite how stressful it was, each barista did their best to make each customer's visit a good one! read more
Came here for the sunday soft opening around 1pm! We got lucky and only waited around 35 minutes total to order and receive our drinks. Very aesthetic cafe that also doubles as a restaurant. We ordered 3 drinks. Phe sua - 5/5 Very strong! Would recommend if you want a kick. Must wait for the ice to melt. Matcha latte - 3.5 The matcha is so green! It tastes a bit vegetal to me though, not my preference. Hojicha latte - 4/5 Not a strong roasted flavor, but very creamy. Would come back again once the hype dies down for their opening. read more
Visited on their Saturday soft opening and joined the line at 9:45 AM. They're open from 10 AM-4 PM during the 5/17 weekend. The interior is spacious, aesthetic, and trendy. We ordered the mi tron, xoi man, matcha einspanner, hojicha einspanner, mango matcha latte, and banana pudding matcha. Our food came out first, and drinks started rolling out at 11 AM. I got the matcha einspanner with the default sweetness and less ice. It was solid and perfectly balanced. I'd definitely order it again. On the other hand, I wasn't a fan of the xoi man and honestly wouldn't recommend it unless you're really hungry. Since Phe is still in their soft opening phase and riding a lot of social media hype, expect to wait around an hour for drinks. Unless you're down for that, it might be worth waiting a few weeks or months until the "new matcha spot" buzz dies down. Overall, I thought it was worth trying, but I personally wouldn't wait an hour again. TLDR: Solid matcha einspanner, definitely one of the better ones in Seattle. Expect long waits until the hype settles. read more
traveling all the way from California, I wanted to find some good drink spots during my trip to Seattle. Phe was on of those spots that stood out to me, as their drinks all are delicious but also insanely beautiful. I enjoyed Phe so much, i came twice during my trip. Their matcha lattes are amazing, we got just a simple latte, even though I would have loved to try their banana lattes, at the moment I was not looking to spend $11 for a drink. For their regular matcha, you get to choose the matcha blend of choice, i both tried the vetegal and floral one, and floral was my favorite. For coffee, I loved their sweet corn Vietnamese coffee. But their honeycomb toffee Vietnamese coffee was good too, just too much foam which watered down my coffee taste. But both coffee flavor were perfect sweet and strong. The place can get packed with long lines fast, and seating sometimes is limited. Even though I love the concept of them opening the garage door as a giant window, the place can feel very tiny and crowded quickly. read more

Phe Me 5* strong blacks sesame flavor in the cream mixture on top of coffee and milk $7.75 for large ($7 for small) Strawberry Matcha Latte 4* strong matcha flavor but the strawberry puree tasted like jam $9 for large Lichee Ice Tea 5* strong lichee flavor albeit sweet (cannot change %) with green tea $7.25 for large Bahn Mi 4* had pork (& pate). Has veggies (pickled carrots, cucumbers cilantro) but not the pickled daikon (left wanting) $9 Mi Tron Sate 5* (Similar to Dan Dan mien) nice noodles and beef sate (ground meat) was excellent $18 Bo Kho 4* tender flavorful braised beef stew. Choice of baguette or noodles (pho noodles). Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon to check out all the hype. Since I'm certainly not a matcha connoisseur my opinion probably isn't too important but I really enjoyed the matcha. I wanted to try the hojicha banana pudding but unfortunately they were sold out of all banana pudding. The staff recommended just trying the popular "floral" matcha. I really liked that there were multiple types of matcha to try! The drink was creamy, light, floral, and not too sweet or bitter. I also tried the corn cream coffee which was yummy but a little too sweet for my taste and I didn't really get the corn flavor. While the coffee was yummy I think there are better Vietnamese coffee shops in Seattle but the matcha might be the best I've had. The space was really busy and had good energy as well. I loved their banana pudding matcha however the strawberry matcha was not as good. The banana pudding matcha is delicious and will always be my number one order there. The matcha is strong, floral, and rich. It was around $11 for one banana pudding matcha. The strawberry matcha was not as good. It wasn't that sweet, and I prefer the banana pudding matcha in my opinion. It was around $8 for one cup. Would not order again. The spam musubi was delicious, it had egg, spam, avocado, and rice. Very tasty. The oat milk has an extra charge, so keep that in mind. But the prices are not too surprising considering it being located in Capitol Hill. They do take a while to make the matcha, but it's always busy so I'm not surprised. Beautiful decoration, however I would not study here. It's very loud, and the internet expired after an hour, so I wouldn't consider a good option to study. read more
Trendy matcha shop on Capitol Hill. I give it a high walkability score since it's in the Pike/Pine corridor near Broadway. I'm glad everything worked out with their matcha supplier. For a mid-week visit it was pretty busy when I got there. It makes sense though. It's summer vacation and Seattle Central's fall quarter doesn't start till the end of September. Stanchions aren't there to differentiate between who ordered and who didn't. It can be confusing when everyone is bunched up together near the counter but it gets people to talk to one another. You can make a new friend that way. I ordered a Banana Pudding Matcha Latte and some food. My drink order came first. While I waited for my food I ate the banana pudding dollop that was on top of the matcha. It was pretty good. Eventually a runner came out from the kitchen and gave me my food. The cafe space has no insulation and has high ceilings which is a common gentrification model for new construction. Voices will carry. The employees literally scream out order numbers when orders are ready. The noise level is like a bar at 11pm. So if you're sitting towards the back there's less volume and chaos. However, if you're waiting near the counter, garage door or sidewalk, MY GAWD, the employee yelling order numbers can be pretty unpleasant. Maybe they'll invest in a speaker system or ticker board? Or not. Whatever. I grabbed my drink and snacks and walked to Cal Anderson Park. I sat on a bench near the water fountain. People passing by were eyeing my egg roll order. A crow cawing at me wanted some egg rolls too. The egg rolls were pretty good. Their musubi wasn't good. That's $4.96 I'll never see again. Honestly, they should add more Vietnamese appetizer classics on their menu. It's Capitol Hill. People are out and about with friends. Shareable snacks is the best way to go. What else goes with coffee? Mochi donuts. Public transit is the best way to get here. I ended up catching the 49 back downtown with my Matcha Latte in hand. read more
