Larb Poke Tuna Bento (GF)
Katie D.

I could not recommend this place enough. I came for happy hour and ordered the tuna larb poke bento and the chicken dumplings. The poke was very light, flavorful, and citrusy. Perfectly balanced. The chicken dumplings were really good and flavorful, a bit heavy on teriyaki sauce. The midnight mimosa was a stand out. The drink was so pretty and delicious. I sat on the patio and it was such a great vibe. Happy hour specials are amazing.

Orange chicken

Super tasty dinner for a reasonable price! I had the Special: fried tofu, red cabbage and carrots, avocado, wilted spinach, grilled zucchini, pumpkin seeds and a delicious peanut/ginger sauce, brown rice. ($15)My husband choose the orange chicken which was fried nicely, not greasy, light coating and tasted very well of oranges. Came with white rice and grilled zucchini ($12). We also had some Thai iced tea which was good, not overly sweet like it sometimes does at other places. The restaurant itself is tiny and super cute! They have a patio "upstairs" but it was too windy to sit out this evening. It's right in de University district across from the food truck pod. I am glad we stopped in for dinner!!

I adore phat cart! During my time at PSU I fell in love with their crispy chicken bento. Since moving away, I try to come when I visit, but wasn't able to make it during my last trip. Two years later it was my first stop back in town. The ambiance is still great, the service was great, and I still love the bento. I also love the orange chicken bento and the avocado chicken salad. Definitely a great spot if you are in the area!

Larb Gai Tod

Came here for some late night food, portions were great for the price! I ordered the Larb Gai Tod, and thought it was okay. As it was under the salad category, I think it should be placed under bentos because of the big portion! The flavor was more salty than the usual salty-lime taste that I'm used to. The chicken was also deep fried which I didn't expect. I didn't finish my meal nor choose to take it home because the chicken seemed a little off. The breading was a little thick and soggy. I wouldn't recommend getting this dish but would give something else a try if I were to come back. Service was minimal, and the interior was cute for a "hole in the wall" spot vibe.

the vibe of this places is so cool, very earthy, simple and homey. there's an outdoor area here as well (higher level). had something simple (avocado toast) and it was delicious but my sisters and mom have come here several times and they loved their food!

Korean Beef Bento (Galbi)

It was one of the only places open in the snow. It was a former foot cart that has a brick and mortar restaurant. It is a small place with only a few seats so it is mainly a takeout location. Rush is around 6-7 pm, then the place goes dead after 7 pm. We had the following: Korean beef bento - 3/5 - there was a lot of fatty tissue on my meat. There wasn't a lot of meat in the first place. Flavor was good. Crispy chicken- 4/5 - my companion enjoyed his dish and said the chicken was moist. It was very affordable and the staff were nice. They say the owner never closes even during the storm of the century so you can guarantee that they'll be open.

Tuna larb

This place was a-ok. Cool vibe. F O O D Hubby liked the crispy chicken (there wasn't much). I liked the Tuna Larb Bento, and the gyudon was just ok. Small portions. The Thai Tea was watered down and they charge an extra $1 for no ice, but didn't fill my cup all the way anyway. P A R K I N G Difficult, so we just swung by and got everything to go.

Chicken Dumplings (Complimentary) and Takoyaki

Portland is known for its food cart scene and Phat Cart is the closest I got to experience that. One of my best friends recommended we meet here for a laid-back environment, an appetizing meal, and enjoyable drinks. This is a popular spot amongst college students and I can see why for their affordability and variation. Phat Cart has turned into a brick-and-mortar with two locations in Portland. The vibes near their PSU location emulate a cute place to unwind with friends over a meal. R&B echoes with wooden furniture and plants sprawled throughout. The brick-and-mortar is two floors with communal tables and tables for two. Everything is self-service--order and retrieve your items at the counter and grab your utensils and seats on your own. Even though you seat yourself, the ladies working the register were super friendly, and bubbly, and provided awesome recommendations! The only thing is our food and drinks came out super slow and staggered. I can see why this is a hot spot for students. The restaurant dishes up breakfast, lunch, and dinner items plus a happy hour. Known for their bentos and salads, that's what my friend got. My companion and I took advantage of their happy hour and got Takoyaki. Plus a free Chicken Dumpling from their Yelp Check-in Offer! To be honest, the quality of the food wasn't superb for us. It tasted mediocre; like it was frozen and heated up. The dumplings were plain, fried, and crispy. While the takoyaki was heavy on the batter, creamy from the sauce, and had a little bit of octopus. The flavors didn't stand out to us, so I wouldn't order it again. Looking for a cost-effective and favorable spot for college students? Phat Cart is that place! No longer a food cart but a restaurant, it's located in the heart of downtown Portland on SW College Street, with limited parking and walking friendly. We enjoyed our company and ambiance more than the food but glad we came. Be sure to check in for their deal!

Crispy chicken bento in front, veggie "spring rolls" in back
Sam Z.

Super cute, great service, enjoyed the house made soda, but the food was disappointing. I had the crispy chicken bento, on yelp's recommendation, but there was too much breading and hardly any chicken in it. The zucchini that came with it needed more seasoning. I also had the veggie "spring rolls", which were actually fried egg rolls filled with mostly cabbage. I know cabbage is having a moment right now, it's affordable and good for you, yada yada, but oy I'm so tired of it already. But also I didn't want another fried thing. The ginger lychee soda and the rice were great, but I wouldn't go back for the food.

Crispy Chicken Bento

Crispy chicken bento hit the spot! I would lick the bowl if I could. Great combo of fresh ingredients and mix of flavors- none overpowering the others. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and moist inside. I also enjoyed a blueberry fizz. Wonderful on a summer day. The restaurant itself is small but the space is utilized well. Super cute and welcoming.

Little college hang out spot! Great crispy chicken with a yummy sweet and sour sauce. The service is friendly and fast. Such yummy appetizers!

Jasmine today cocktail is a future pass. But the veggie bowl was delish.

I've been here more times that I can count. While I'm rarely disappointed by the experience, there are two reoccurring themes: 1. The cocktail menu reads better than it is, i.e., I'm usually underwhelmed by the clever concoctions. And the price points are too high for what you get. 2. Portions are a touch too small as I'm always checking the menu after finishing my meal for something small to satisfy lingering my craving.

Larbe Poke Tuna bowl and pork belly bowl. Mojito was damn refreshing. Chicken Karaage Poppers
Cheyenne P.

What a fantastic spot to grub and grab a drink. Their food menu has plenty to offer if your in the mood for some delicious bowls. I've had almost all of their meat dishes. The pork belly bowl I had the last time I was there was really well cooked, little crispy and tasty. Their non alcoholic drinks are off the charts. Don't sleep on the desserts. Get their fried chicken appetizer. Went 5 times in 2 weeks and brought friends, they all loved it.

The space itself is smaller and intimate, so bringing a larger group than about 4-5 people might not be ideal. The ambiance definitely gave Italy vibes, for sure. The chicken liver mousse was a good consistency, paired with the figs gave a nice balance between sweet and savory. The steak frites was a classic, steak was a good portion and cooked medium rare, but I'm sure if you wanted it more cooked through, you could make that request. The fries were definitely a standout, great texture and the garlic flavor gave a good contrast to the steak. My favorite dish was the dessert, the flaky crust gave a nice texture to the cream insides. I'm a huge passionfruit fan, so once I saw it was on the menu, I knew I had to try it. It didn't disappoint and I would definitely come back just for this dish alone. Overall a solid experience and would recommend people to try Canard out at least once!

The beverages were however very nice, and I recently had the cobbler dessert and it looked amazing and tasted better. We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. From what I saw, the lunch sounds very good and I'd be more apt to recommend folks give that a shot if they happened to be going there too. I'm not sure if I'd recommend as a must go stop. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.

The salmon benedict, although highly recommended by the waitress, was extremely fishy, even though the "hollandaise sauce" (which had no depth of flavor, and was just thick) covered the entirety of the egg, salmon, and english muffin. It came with cheesy hash browns which again had no depth of flavor. Cheese makes anything tasty but it was just too much. The service, while friendly, was not attentive.
