Disappointing. We wanted to patron this establishment because of a social media post of someone breaking their front window. When we were being seated, the waitress informed us that no one broke the window and it cracked by itself. Okay no problem. We were seated quickly since they just opened the door. Service was good and we ordered quickly because we were hungry. We received our vegan and regular vietnamese coffee first. Both were strong and delicious. The tempura oyster mushrooms app was good, a bit too much batter tho. When I got my plate of "Tempura shrimp" plate. It wasnt what was pictured. (see pic). When I called the waitress over. She said yeah that's the grill shrimp rice plate! That's not what I ordered. You don't even offer that dish on the menu. I repeated that I ordered the tempura shrimp plate. She then asks me. What is tempura anyways? I show her the picture on the menu. She said oh. I never knew what tempura was? That's odd- you don't know your own menu? Of course the table next to us got the right order. They ordered the tempura shrimp plate and thats what she got! $21 for 5 small tiny shrimp. My daughter got the tofu rice bowl which came on a plate with super hard fries tofu, almost not edible. Got the katsu with rice, chicken curry udon, beef stew, beef rib pho, chicken garlic noodle and Vietnamese flight! All dishes were 10/10, super flavorful and delicious! Vietnamese flight were nice, our fav was the Ube. Only thing that would've been better is for the dishes to come out hotter in temperature, all were slightly warmed. Service was kind and attentive. While eating dinner with a group, I shared the Viet platter with lemongrass shrimp and the miso braised beef ribs. The beef ribs with mashed potatoes, gravy, and brussel sprouts was to die for! The kind of meat & potatoes plate that warms your belly & your heart! Viet platter was the opposite - bright and full of veggies! It felt healthy, but I thought it could have had more shrimp. Jalapeños were overflowing! Ratios could have been better. These two dishes combined for two were perfect. We drove here from Tigard and was extremely excited to try it. The sizzling beef and egg was good, but not very special. It would be good if there was some pate with it. We were mostly excited to try the waffles and chicken but sadly, it was disappointing. It came with an extremely thin piece of chicken that is heavily battered and over fried. I ordered the curry udon with fried oyster mushroom. I really wanted to like my dish but the curry udon was heavy in coconut cream which overpowered the curry seasoning. Because I couldn't taste curry flavors, or any time of seasoning, I thought it was bland and too rich and creamy for my taste. I thought that the fried oyster mushrooms were too dry. This was a wonderful find during our trip to Portland! I had the veggie noodle bowl and it was filled with non typical veggies - bok choy, turnip, special mushroom and more! Love how close this place is to where I used to work in North Portland a nice not too busy and rustic looking spot near Kenton park. The the coin inside is really nice and chill vibe. There's lots of seating and we came at a Thursday for lunch and it wasn't too packed. I had the Vietnamese Coffee flight to try out all the different ones, and the Ube cafe sua da was by far the best. I had the Vietnamese sizzling plate with baguettes and it was very good. The flavor is a little bit on the stronger side, but that's what I like so it was perfect for me and the portion was surprisingly enough even though it looked a little small coming out. Came here for a bridesmaid brunch. Very cute and spacious interior, but the floors are quite slippery. Ordered coffee flights and they were overall decent, but it was fun trying different flavors. The pandan waffles were yummy and the chicken had the perfect crisp to it. We LOVE Vietnamese food, and so I took the job to scour Yelp for the best option to heart. An A did not disappoint. A woman who I believe to be the owner or manager was very genuinely invested in us enjoying our meal/providing feedback. All we could say was it was a perfect 10/10. I know "fusion" is a dirty word to some, but in a city w/ so many classic pho/banh mi spots it's nice to see some fresh twists (tho they do have pho & banh mi but I'd recommend trying some of their other unique dishes). I went for dinner the first time and had the miso braised short ribs w/ mashed potatoes & their fish sauce wings & both were excellent. The short ribs were pulled off the bones and delectably fall apart tender and savory & I normally don't care at all bout mashed taters but they paired very nicely w/ some charred brussel sprouts throughout. The wings were great too, I always order fish sauce wings at any place I go that has them and these rank up there as some of the best I've tried. The brunch I didn't like as much but I'm also not a big brunch guy. We got the pandan waffle w/ berries & sizzling beef and egg. Both were fine but the beef & egg was a bit too heavy/salty gravy for me. If u like biscuits&gravy or like stroganoff dishes I think you'd like it tho. I took most of it home cuz I thought it'd be much more delicious tossed up with some noodles but someone ate it before I could try. I def recommend choosing baguette over rice w/ it to soak up that gravy. The waffle was also good but don't know if I could tell it apart from any other waffle if it wasn't green lol. read more

The platter includes deliciously flavored grilled pork or chicken (probably a vegetarian option available), the best vermicelli noodles I've ever had from a Vietnamese joint, pickled veggies, jalapeños, cilantro, basil, and romaine leaves to create your own lettuce wraps. Seems like An An is better known for their brunch but I stopped by for dinner and had a nice time -- so if you're in the area later in the day, An An is still a good pick! Will say I checked the reviews and stuck to what seemed like their specialties and totally loved it. The garlic noodles were delicious, I got them with fried oyster mushroom which was a really delicious combo. The grilled pork baos were really good too, the pork was tender and flavorful and I love that they add kewpie because that's one of my favorite condiments. Only complaint is for these prices, the portions sizes are a little small in my opinion. I got two bao and a medium sized bowl of noodles with 5 or 6 fried mushrooms for almost $40 including tip. Really yummy though, so I still think it's worth a try if you've got the budget! read more

Star anise beef soup was basically a Bo Kho, flavor was there but meat was a little hard to chew - it could be more tender and their shrimp & egg bowl was pretty basic, something you can make at home tbh. Service was cool, we were told wait was about 20 mins but we waited about 45 mins and there were seats open but not many servers and this was between 11am - 12pm. I really enjoy Vietnamese food since I have already visited the country, but I've never tried brunch with Vietnamese flavors before! We found this place on social media, and it was easy to make a reservation. My husband and I decided to come for Sunday brunch, and we were blown away by how tasty the food was. I've been able to go here for both brunch and an early dinner, would have to say that the brunch experience is definitely the best! It's very roomy and cute inside, luckily not much of a wait to get a table for two usually. Service is so friendly. Came to try An An with a group of friends and wanted to love it but there was just so much disappointment. Starting off, service seemed okay. Our table was set up pretty quickly and then we realized we needed space for an extra person so they quickly moved us to a bigger table. However, when it finally came time to order, our server misunderstood my order and put me down for double of each item. My fiance and I try not to splurge too much on calories when we eat out so we decided to share a Cheesefoam Coffee and a Garlic Noodles with Fried Chicken. When I placed the order, I said one coffee and one garlic noodles. Instead of confirming with us, she just put us down for two of each. When the drinks came out, another server brought 2 coffees but no one else at the table ordered the drink. I then walked up to the server to make sure there wasn't a double order of noodles coming out and sure enough she assumed we wanted two and had placed the order for two. All good, she was able to get that fixed with the kitchen. Cheesefoam Coffee: The coffee was amazing but TINY. I think it was like $7.50(?) for a tiny glass of coffee. It was tasty, but definitely not making any special trips for it when there are better coffees for less up and down 82nd. Garlic Noodles with Fried Chicken: the flavor of the noodles was good but the noodles weren't cooked correctly. It felt like they added the noodles to water that wasn't boiling yet and let it sit there warming up. The chicken was just okay. Uneven pieces made edges too crispy, almost dried out. Sauce was good but I think the sauce that came with my friend's lemongrass shrimp was better. Garlic Noodles with Lemongrass Shrimp: my friends ordered this dish and was extremely disappointed that he paid $20 for 5 small pieces of shrimp. Beef Rib Pho: The broth didn't have enough flavor, and wasn't hot. The pho noodles also weren't cooked in boiling water and you could really taste that in the broth. Also, I feel like sriracha and hoisin are such a staple for pho but they don't bring those condiments out with the dish. Ube Waffles with Fried Oyster Mushrooms: another friend tried this dish. I didn't try the waffles but the fried mushrooms were so overly fried that they were completely dried out. I wouldn't recommend this dish either. Overall, the only thing I enjoyed from this meal was the expensive coffee. I don't think I'll be making my way back over here anytime soon. read more

The portions are kinda small especially the steak like the sauce is fantastic but the meat was stupid little, like a toddler portions so not worth the 20 something during lunch?
