Look at this veggie noodle bowl!
    Lori G.

This was a wonderful find during our trip to Portland! I had the veggie noodle bowl and it was filled with non typical veggies - bok choy, turnip, special mushroom and more! The broth was also very flavorful! My sweetie got a beef noodle bowl and it was delicious too! The happy hour potstickers with peanut sauce were to die for. Service wea excellent too. Run, don't walk to this gem!

An An is a top destination for Asian/Viet Brunch food! I ordered the house garlic noodles w/ chicken katsu, a Vietnamese fusion dish but with a twist! The chicken was crunchy/crispy and moist/plenty flavorful. The noodles were seasoned with intricate flavors and accompanied in their secret sauce makes the whole dish salty/sweet/rich! The whole restaurant gives off this clean modern aesthetics that's a pleasure to be eating in. Staff were super kind and helpful, always checking up on us!

This restaurant sold us on o Portland where the food scene is concerned. We are considering a move to Portland, and happened to be in town for a funeral. We LOVE Vietnamese food, and so I took the job to scour Yelp for the best option to heart. An A did not disappoint. A woman who I believe to be the owner or manager was very genuinely invested in us enjoying our meal/providing feedback. All we could say was it was a perfect 10/10. I really loved my pandan viet coffee. So delicious. Brought me right back to life after a red eye. Wish I had been rested and hydrated enough to try the cocktails. We had the chicken sandwich and the meatballs. The true star was the pork belly appetizer.

Short ribs weren't fall off the bone but it was alright

Finally got to try here and it was good, but not for the price. The portions are kinda small especially the steak like the sauce is fantastic but the meat was stupid little, like a toddler portions so not worth the 20 something during lunch? Stingyyyyyyyy much and the egg was over cooked. I had short rib pho many times and this wasn't fall off the bone. Order also kind of took forever when it wasn't busy. I will say the Viet coffee is great, not burnt or watered down. Cute place alright food.

I ate with my colleagues who are in Portland for a conference. An Uber driver recommended this place. What a wonderful experience! We started with salt and pepper shrimp on our server's recommendation. Delicious! I had grilled chicken An A special that was so tasty. Their house sauce is delightful, spicy, sweet, and tart. I had the Lotus dessert that was truly lovely. Not too sweet, which I appreciate. I had the Sake cooler, which was refreshing and absolutely beautiful. The restaurant is bright and friendly. Our server was kind and helpful without hovering. I highly recommend you check it out!

Came here on a Saturday for brunch. I was not expecting how roomy this place is. I really dig the chill vibe here. Ube waffle - nice color and fluffy. Ube coffee is super delicious. It's your typical Vietnamese iced coffee with Ube flavoring, which added a nice earthy tone to this drink.

I've been meaning to try this wonderful restaurant for some time now, and finally got in there! It did not disappoint. The food, service, and ambience were all top-notch. The person I was with had the grilled plate with pork and that was absolutely phenomenal. I had the beef pho and it too was very, very tasty. They have a generous drink menu with unique cocktails. The Manhattan was especially good. I would say that they are a little higher priced when compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in town, however, I would also say their food - and the restaurant itself - is more elevated and upscale. I will definitely be going back here, and it is wonderful to have such a delicious restaurant in my local neighborhood. If you haven't been, please give this place a try as it will not disappoint!

Presentation: 4/5 (nice display of food, pretty aesthetic) Tastiness: 3/5 (Overall, my chicken ube waffle dish with a couple of fruits felt underwhelming. Chicken meat was dry. I also thought there'd be more fruits) Value: 3/5 (definitely small portion size for the price) Service: 2/5 (friendly workers but were not attentive at all. Didn't check up on us, maybe it was us being at the corner table. Had to sit and wait for a while before we could ask for the bill) Cleanliness: 4/5 (Clean and well-maintained) Noise level: Moderate

Food was good. As someone who loves Vietnamese food, this was more of an American style Vietnamese restaurant, nothing really stood out. The ube waffles were alright, it had more of a mochi consistency and it was lacking the ube flavor. Salt and pepper shrimp was good, had a nice crunch to it, flavor was there. Star anise beef soup was basically a Bo Kho, flavor was there but meat was a little hard to chew - it could be more tender and their shrimp & egg bowl was pretty basic, something you can make at home tbh. Service was cool, we were told wait was about 20 mins but we waited about 45 mins and there were seats open but not many servers and this was between 11am - 12pm. Restaurant is cute inside, cafe style, warm and welcoming. Probably would go back and try other things on the menu if I'm in the area.

I came here for the coffee flight, but stayed for the ambiance and great service ~ you're the best Rosie!!! Kenton is a sweet little neighborhood, where its colorfulness matches the food selections and vibes! That's where An An fits in, with its Asian Fusion food, eclectic interior and stellar service I was only there for a quick brunch, but Rosie made me feel super welcomed! I got the Ube Waffles and Chicken Katsu (not the Hawaiian style) + their Southeast Asian coffee flight! It was a large helping and all delicious! I just lounged and enjoyed everything! It all made for a great day!

First time here and tried their beef stew pho. I love that it comes with a Chinese donut! I picked out the cooked carrots in my pho since i don't like cooked carrrots and that's different for pho for me. The service was quick and easy. Not a busy night for Friday. It was a cute little restaurant. Will be back to try out their brunch!

I've been able to go here for both brunch and an early dinner, would have to say that the brunch experience is definitely the best! It's very roomy and cute inside, luckily not much of a wait to get a table for two usually. Service is so friendly. The standouts for brunch was definitely the meatball dish and the sizzling beef and egg, but everything else was perfect too! That was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. In the early dinner time, menu is a bit more limited but we still had a good time. I can't wait to come back again!

Good experience overall. Went on a weekday at opening and they didn't have the coffee flight everyone raves about, the lovely server said it is more of a weekend brunch thing. The ube waffles were indeed delicious especially if you top it with a piece of their chicken wing and gochujang syrup. Sizzling beed not sizzling but was good.

I just have trouble with it. The coffee at Koken was fine, I guess. It's strong. But what does that even mean? First I had it and it was pretty strong. Then I asked them to add more milk and it was a little too weak. So isn't it the amount of milk that matters? And isn't that very variable? Anyway, the reason why I came here is because I asked a barista at a different coffee shop what her favorite other coffee places are, and she immediately said Koken is her favorite. That's gotta count for something. But as I started saying, I'm more of a food person than a coffee person. And I got a dish here that I really, really liked. I forget what it was called. Their menu isn't online, so I can't look it up. Which is kinda refreshing. It's basically little pieces of bread that are sauteed/fried in some sort of African butter, with an African spice blend, and eaten with yogurt. And it was absolutely perfect. The warm, chewy, spiced bread with the cool, tart yogurt is just so great. Such a good combo. Simple. Not distracted by a bunch of other stuff. You really just get that wonderful contrast. The bread was perfectly chewy. And had a little bit of a crisp on the outside, in a perfect way. Check out the picture. Ultimately, it was just so homey, so satisfying, and so novel. It's like an hour long trip on public transit for me to get there, but I don't care. I know that I will be back.

I tried one of their food dishes called Fuul (Eritrean vegetarian stew) made of chopped onions, tomato, peppers, cheese, egg and beans. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasted good but it just tasted like bean dip. I mean the best bean dip I've ever had in my life but that wasn't what I was going for I had no chips lol.

Also cannot forget about their pastry case where they have some insanely tasty goods! I finally had the chance to dine in recently and service was friendly, helpful, and swift. Fair warning you may have shared seating if it gets too crowded inside, but it's doesn't feel too packed even if you are at shared seating. The bar is also beautiful and cozy. The coffee is delicious and I definitely need to go back to try the matcha! All in all, this is a great spot for coffee, matcha, pastries, or a delicious breakfast/brunch. Swing by and try it out yourself because I will say the cost is absolutely worth it for the quality!
