Banh Mi Combo - Lemongrass Chicken

Such a cute and cozy spot and so yummy!! I was initially hesitant about a "cup of pho" as a side bc we don't usually eat like this, but it was perfect, warm, flavorful, and complimented the meal very well. Lemongrass chicken bánh mì was very good. Good textured bread and ratios of veggies + meat. One of the go-to local spots. Love the patio and rocking chairs. Friendly staff and fast service.

I had intended to come to Lela's Bistro for lunch but I found myself in NW and starving on a Tuesday night. It was a great visit! The pho was piping hot and delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very low key with quiet music and pleasant vibes. You order at the counter and pay and then they bring your food out. I like this setup as you don't have a server coming around. Just my preference. Anyways, another pho joint checked off the list. A+ Lela's Bistro!

Our favorite place for Vietnamese food. A lovely old house with cozy ambiance and delicious food. The pho is always our go-to. 10/10 every time!

Easily the best Bahn mi I've ever had. The portion was a perfect size for me to share, even though this was so good that I would've loved to have eaten the whole thing. The flavors were great, I loved the sauce in the Bahn mi. The pho was also great; a perfect addition to the sandwich. It was pretty quick to get my food. I'm already making plans to visit again.

Ordered beef pho for $17.50 before tip. Just as good as I remember when I lived down the street. Service is friendly and efficient. My food comes super fast in 10 minutes and pair that with the old Portland house atmosphere it feels cozy. Also, a lot of places don't boil their bones long enough for the collagen to infuse the broth, this place definitely spends a long time on their broth. Family owned so that's huge plus.

I was looking for healthier Vegan options after my yoga class today and I checked several restaurants nearby. Lela's was the only one with clear Vegan options, it was nice not having to search the menu inside out or deconstruct dishes. Josh was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Cute little Vietnamese spot that makes you feel so cozy on a busy street! Great service despite it being a place where you order & pay ahead of being seated. The servers were attentive and kind. The food was great. I got the crispy pork belly noodles, and the pork belly was perfection. It paired well with the noodles and fresh veggies along with their fish sauce dressing.

Such a cute place on 23rd in Portland! It's in a converted old house, you can sit inside or out on the porch. The FOOD is Fantastic! We had a salad roll, pork & shrimp, that was delicious! I love salad rolls! I also love pork with shrimp, such a great combo! Then we both ordered a Banh Mi Lemon Grass Chicken with a choice of a cup of Pho or a salad. I went with the beef Pho and my husband went with the chicken Pho. The Pho was AMAZING! Soooooo goooood! Definitely get at least a cup of Pho. The Banh Mi's were also perfect. Fresh and delicious with fresh vegetables and herbs & the chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist. Seriously, I could have a Banh Mi for lunch Every Day. Highly recommend this place and we will be back!

Lela's is nearby my office so I've come for many team lunches. The food is pretty good. I've had better pho though. The staff is nice. You have to bus yourself. The cucumber water is yummy. The seating can get full at lunch. The food can take a while to come sometimes.

We love dog friendly patios! The egg rolls and salad rolls were really good! I always find getting 3 rolls is awkward when it's just two, though. I also wasn't a huge fan of their nước mắm. The subs were delicious! I liked the amount of veggies, I wish it had been stuffed with more protein, though. I got the vegan pho option and liked it more than the regular that my partner had, especially when dipping the bánh mì. The regular one was a bit sweet.

Located alongside 23rd is a very hole in the wall Vietnamese spot. The service was fast and the people working there are very friendly and attentive. We were a big group so we had to shift tables around which is all good and they even helped us along the way. I got the banh mi and pho broth and it was good! The banh mi you can tell is freshly made and the pho broth was rather sweet for my taste. All in all, it's good food, but a little overpriced for what it is.

I was a bit hesitant to try this spot out because as a Vietnamese person, I have pretty high standards for pho. Located on 23rd, there's a lot to do before and after you grab a bite here, and just like so many other shops, it's really cute inside. With plenty of spacing, the restaurant feels more like a home turned restaurant and I love it. I got their banh mi and broth, but my friend got their pho. First, their banh mi was pretty standard. It wasn't anything out of this world but I would definitely get it again! Their pho on the other hand was pretty unique. It's not anything like I've had in the past (what I consider really authentic, Southern Vietnamese pho), but I still really liked it. It was a sweeter, lighter broth than what you would expect--not so strong on the five spice or richness that you would typically get form beef stock. However, the portion was perfect and it left me wanting more. Overall, as the pho is so different to what I've had, I wouldn't come here for pho if I were craving it, but I would definitely come back for *their* pho (if that makes sense).

I ordered their tuna salad with sweet onion dressing, as well as their mango smoothie. I am STILL thinking about the salad!!! It was so fresh, the dressing was to die for soo flavorful. I got the 3 piece combo with OG chicken and OG fries, it came with a sauce. There was a youngish clean looking man working, it did take 20-30 minutes to get my food, but no big deal. Everything was amazing, I'm not sure if it was the hangover or the fact that I haven't had fried chicken in 7-8 years. I have been craving it since, so today, Jan. 8th I went. I got the lemon pepper chicken and OG fries. I ordered ahead of time so I wouldn't have to wait so long, pick up time was 11:40-11:50. I showed up at 11:47, the person today was a slightly ill looking middle aged woman. She looked confused at first when I told her my name, then she said oh it'll be 4 minutes for the chicken. I said no problem, I waited about 10 minutes and she called my name. I go to get my food and she's literally sniffing and blowing her nose with my food bag in the other hand... gross. I grab the bag and there is several small black hairs on the outside of the bag, great! I'm starving so I go back to my car to eat out of the cold, I open the box after 30 seconds of walking to my car and the fries are super soggy, covered in grease and barley warm. The chicken looks decent but is also soggy on one side, with barely any visible seasoning. I'm not sure if it was the batch but every piece of chicken was bland yet so salty it was unbearable, as well as it being stringy and hard to bite. I could barely tear off any, I ate about .5 of the 3 pieces and 1 fry. I will not be back. I'm not sure if I got super lucky the first day or what. I think the only reason why they are still in business is that they are designated gluten free.

A big shout out to Tyler who made us feel like family and served us from start to finish with efficiency, kindness, and exceptional care. From the moment you enter G-Love, you feel like you chose the right spot to celebrate life, a moment, or to spend time with family and friends. The drink menu: why is everything so enticing? I can hold my liquor, but not well enough to try all the things that tempted me. Luckily we love sharing and getting tastes of one another's libations. Here goes: We started with The Cecilia, The Princess Peach, and a Matchstick Martini, as well as a Diet Coke for the responsible one at the table. Even the taste of the Diet Coke is elevated, or was that just me? Maybe it was the eco-friendly straw... For food, please don't judge. I live in LA and when I come here, I feel like I may not get another opportunity to come back so I need to try it all. Is that gluttony or wonderful gastronomique decision making? 1. Charred cabbage, crispy shallots and garlic (already a fan), hazelnuts, apples and Kel's onions. Do not miss this. 7. Hamachi Crudo - This is one of my absolutes, hands down, delicious dishes that shouldn't be overlooked. Divine pieces of sliced hamachi crudo, with a coconut cream and some other delicious things that I can't remember. I blame it on Cecilia. 8. Carrots and Citrus - Not only was this beautiful, it was another one of the dishes that I wished didn't end. Brown butter, pistachio, chili crunch, Tom Kha Vinaigrette. Garrett, where are you so that I can hug you for this dish? 9. Asparagus a la Plancha - fiddleheads, miso-lemon hollandaise, egg yolk, and crispy potato. And you thought this was ironed asparagus. Guess again. Delicious. 10. McFarland Springs Trout - perfectly cooked trout, with smoked buttermilk, cilantro puree, garnished with arugula radish salad. 11. Spring Tagliatelle - served with a broccoli dill pesto, garlic confit, pancetta, and fried anchovy breadcrumbs. You had me at anchovy. 12. Fried Chicken - finger lickin good, truly. No need for the Colonel to get worried, as this fried chicken is in another category. Superb. 13. Pork belly skewers & Scallop Skewers - tasty small bites of perfection. Don't pass these up. How many of us are dining you ask? Five. Shhhhhhh,. Dessert? Really, YES. Since there were 5 of us, we got all three. Of course we did. 1. Milk Chocolate: butterscotch, baby popcorn and honeycomb. 2. The interior is attractive and very modern, and there is a large covered and heated patio if you prefer to sit outside (we did). The service was a little bit slow, but not egregious and the server was very friendly. The menu is not extensive, but it has good variety and everything on it looked excellent. All of their ingredients seem high-quality, and they have a number of gluten-free and vegetarian offerings. I ended up getting the eggs benedict, which came with a little salad. The salad was fresh, not wilted, and came with a light vinaigrette. The eggs benedict was absolutely stellar-- perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and grilled halloumi to give some well-received brine to the bite, all atop an english muffin. For the price point and the quality, the portions are good. My one wish was that I could have subbed my salad for some of their potatoes! My partner got the pork belly hash, and thought that the potatoes were cooked perfectly-- crispy and well-seasoned. He did notice that there were only a few pieces of pork in the dish, but we chalked this up to the ingredient quality. We ended up staying for Happy Hour, which was fun! We got the fries with garlic aioli (so good!) and I ordered their daily cocktail special, a margarita. They gave me a good, heavy, pour, which is always appreciated. We also tried their delicious west coffee cocktail, served hot with some delicious oat whipped cream. Service was great and friendly. It was pretty busy the entire time we were here on a Sunday.
