We tore this plate up before I got a picture. The cocktails are unique and refreshing too

I have to stop here every time I visit PDX. This local gem can be smelled from 3 blocks away and everything I've tried has been excellent. Tonight we had the egg rolls and beef pad ped medium spice level. So so good

I came here for lunch since it's by my office because I wanted Thai food. I ordered to pick it up. It was done very quickly. You can pay when you get there. The staff is really nice. I sat and ate my food there. I got the massaman curry. It was so hot that I couldn't eat it. I also really burnt my tongue. The curry itself had very little flavor. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way and the chicken was over cooked. I ended up giving the rest to my family. The inside is cute and clean. I honestly probably won't order again.

The weather is absolutely Portland perfect with a magnificent green tree canopy covering the huge outdoor patio. I love the serenity of this place. It's my favorite place on this street. I'm having my favorite Duck Curry which is available in Mild, Medium or Hot. The plating is beautiful (check out my photos) Delicious fresh green vegetables including quick seared Thai Basil leaves made it absolutely delightful. After eating through most of the vegetables, I could then see the ample roasted boneless duck breast sliced perfectly and a roasted duck drumstick. The service was fairly quick, and the wait staff checked with me several times. It's Saturday night. More happy diners are arriving. Soulful 60's and 70's music is playing softly in the background. Parking and Handicap ramp in the back. Life is good

I don't understand the negative reviews. The service is excellent, the atmosphere inside and out warm and charming. We had a nice lunch after our optometry exam at See Eye Wear. We both had generous sized salads. Mine with beef, my wife's with chicken. The dressing was fulls of flavors. Citrus and papaya, and the meats were very flavorful. We will return when we come back to pick up our glasses. Highly recommend!

We parked in their small lot and walked up the handicap ramp under the big tree for a lovely outdoor patio dining experience. We ordered our favorite Thai dishes and it came out fairly quickly. The staff were so nice and checked in on us the right amount. I've been here several times and it's probably one of my favorite Thai places in Portland.

Delightful little house with impeccable cleanliness and gracious waitstaff. Everything you'd want on a menu at a Thai/Laotian restaurant. Curry was top notch and they added coconut milk to tamp down the spicy index for me! Eggplant was plentiful and tasty and Singapore noodles had mussels and calamari and shrimp and broccoli and carrots and bamboo shoots. Patio is lovely but today we wanted the refreshing AC to get a respite from the 90 degree heat outside ! If you have any from after your meal, the mango sticky rice is a MUST HAVE! keep up the great work here. Prices are reasonable for quality and quantity and atmosphere. Good value!! Great service with smiles and water kept full. Very attentive and wanting to please. Thank for the wonderful service you gave us!

Chicken Thai Fried Rice

So good! My favorite spot on 23rd street. Super fast service as well! Fried rice dishes are my favorite:)

Excellent food and service! We originally stopped in just for drinks but ended up ordering food--and we're so glad we did. The dishes came out quickly and were bursting with flavor. We had a great experience at Tara Thai Northwest. Highly recommended!

Eggplant basil with chicken and cashew nuts with chicken
Ph G.

This place has the eggplant basil with chicken which makes my mouth watering. They also have cashew nuts chicken suits for the rice. Both of them can be made spicy or mild. We were able to be served fast before big group of customers came. There were lots options on the menu for us to try next time.

We were having a lazy Friday. The first non-rainy day in a week, so we decided to venture out for a walk and lunch. My wife needs Gluten Free and as we were walking by we noticed they allows dogs on the outdoor patio (score). Not a lot of lunch traffic, so we're were quickly seated and placed our orders. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. I had the Pad Thai and she had the Pineapple Fried Rice. Everything tasted great. The PT comes with vermicelli noodles, which is unique but they work. Overall, a good choice and we will come again.

Larb

Super delicious and authentic Thai food! 4 stars for the smaller portion size with high prices. I would normally always have left overs at a Thai restaurant, but not this one. Recommend the coconut tofu and larb! Not very busy at all. Went during dinner time and only saw one other table while we were there. Very clean and nicely decorated.

We shared the cream cheese wontons, coconut curry with chicken spice level 2(which comes with rice), and the luc lac. Everything was deliciousss! The chicken in the curry broke apart so easily and the curry itself was very flavorful. Spice level 2 was perfect for a little kick, but not too much. The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. Previous visits have sometimes left us confused as if we ordered something different than a usual so i would say it is not too consistent but great if you catch it on a good day.

They took our drinks order and handed the drinks while we were in the line. Once we got to the register, we put in our food order and paid. The restaurant was semi self served. We got to our table few minutes after ordering. Guests also had the option to order to go and dine in the tent tables outside. The interior of the place was so stunning. There were dragon on walls, umbrellas in the ceiling, a huge full service bar. Our dishes came out within few minutes. We got the chicken skewers, chicken pho, chicken luc lac and steak rolls. We liked the small plate dishes, but the entree ones were disappointing. The chickens were chunky and dry, bland flavor. As much as we loved the vibe of the place, we didn't enjoy the food as much. The staff members were very joyful and friendly. They were explaining the process to every guest and keeping everyone informed on waiting time. During dining, they were also available to help.

** - A Taste of Home in the Heart of Portland**…read more After trekking across this great (and sometimes questionably flavored) nation, I've learned one thing: **nothing beats the taste of home**. And by home, I mean the fiery, fragrant, soul-warming flavors of Lao and Thai cuisine--the kind that makes you close your eyes and teleport straight back to family dinners where your aunties judged your rice-eating skills. Enter **this glorious food cart** in Portland--a beacon of hope in a city that sometimes thinks "spicy" means "lightly dusted with black pepper." The moment I heard the owner speak Lao, I knew I was in good hands. (Also, major bonus: I got to practice my native tongue, because if I don't, my grandma will *absolutely* call me out at the next family gathering.) Now, let's talk about the **larb**--oh, that beautiful, herbaceous, lime-kissed masterpiece. It's the kind of dish that makes you want to whisper *"sabai dee"* to yourself between bites. And if you skip the **fried sticky rice with mango** for dessert, we can't be friends. It's like eating golden clouds of happiness. Portland, you've got your artisanal donuts and kale smoothies, but *this*? This is the real deal. **10/10, would abandon my adventurer lifestyle to eat here every day.** Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go lie down in a food coma and dream of chilies.

I saw a dish in others' reviews with is a stuffed bean curd with pork, crab and chestnuts and fried crispy on top of thin fried vermicelli noodles. That was absolutely delicious and unique (and garlicky!). I also had the short rib mussaman curry which was out of this world! The flavors of the curry were rich and peanutty, with chunks of perfectly cooked potatoes. The meat was thick and pretty tender. I got spicy level and it wasn't too much for me. Their spice level runs low here. It's served with roti and I got a side of sticky rice. The sticky rice was a very small portion for $4. Hubby had the tofu summer rolls which were fresh and healthy. He got the khao soi coconut noodle soup and the bit that I tried was very yummy. The noodles were bouncy, and the flavors all worked well. Their food and cocktails are presented to impress. Edible flowers, blinks lights in the cocktail... a cute date night spot. We sat inside a tuk tuk! Service was friendly and attentive. We happened to walk in during HH and got $1 off beers, $2 off cocktails and they have a small food menu with a small discount on all the items ($1-2 off).

Asian curries but, like all ingredients, it should not be pushed overboard. We ordered the Family Feast style meal and a single Khao Soi. The Khao Soi is too sweet for my taste for a curry soup noddle; perhaps, I am just not in tuned with Burmese curries. I'd much prefer Malaysian & Indonesian curries, where the curries are leaning towards more savory and do not taste like desserts. Even the other curries from the Family Feast were too sweet. I blame it on the overuse of coconut milk. Service: a single white waitress was serving, covering 4-6 tables, although the place wasn't very busy. She was courteous but goofed up a little when she accidentally spilled water on my thigh, although she apologized profusely. Ambiance: mostly low noise, people at each table spoke softly and are respectful of other people's pleasure in eating their foods. Lighting is soft and somewhat dim. Conclusion: would I return? Probably not on my own accord but it's OK if my folks want to eat there.

But when the lady in the food cart handed my order to me, she apologized because it was so hot. She handed me a tall plastic container stacked a carton of rice on top and gave me two napkins. The container was so hot to the touch that I thought I would drop it. I had a concert to go to at Moda but i tried cooling this down for 15 min. I thought it was cool enough but it wasn't. I was pretty hungry and took a bite and still burned my tongue because it was still scalding hot. I'm disappointed about that as I suffered the rest of my night at my event at Moda. However, the price was reasonable and the red curry was darn tasty, and it was a great portion size. It took about 20 min before it wasn't scalding hot but because it was a tall narrow container, it wasn't going to cool quickly. Why couldn't they have given a proper disposable bowl. That would have made it safer to eat and I probably wouldn't have burned my tongue. 20 min is a long time for food to cool down. I think this was a one off incident, but I want to post this to let the owner know, they shouldn't be serving scalding hot curry to their customers. Watch the temperature of your foods, please. I still loved the flavor so much that I will come back, hopefully when I don't have an event at Moda and hopefully it isn't scalding hot.
